The December 6th, 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville, NC. Here are 4 takeaways from this week’s show:
Bray Wyatt Played Mind Games With The Miz
The Miz kicked off this week’s SmackDown by saying that Daniel Bryan has virtually disappeared after the attack from The Fiend last week. The Miz vowed to find out what happened to Daniel Bryan and get to the bottom of this.
Bray Wyatt interrupted with an episode of Firefly Funhouse and told Miz that he doesn’t want to know what happened to Daniel Bryan. Wyatt claimed that The Fiend may not be done with Bryan just yet and he doesn’t think Daniel will make it to TLC.
Wyatt suggested that The Miz face him at TLC instead. Wyatt held up a picture of Miz’s family and asked him if he wanted to come and play with him now. Wyatt laughed as The Miz exited the ring and made his way backstage.
The Miz called Maryse and told her to lock the doors and set the alarm. Miz added that he is getting on a flight and heading home right now.
The Miz was shown walking backstage once again and came across a room with a red light. The Miz booted the door to reveal a picture with Wyatt with The Miz’s family. Bray hit Miz with the Sister Abigail and sang “there is no place like home for the holidays”.
It was later announced that The Miz will face Bray Wyatt at WWE TLC. It should be noted that Wyatt is not being advertised as The Fiend for the match.
The Revival Earned Another Shot At The Titles
Shorty G & Mustafa Ali, Lucha House Party, Heavy Machinery, and The Revival competed in a Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match. The winning team will go on to face New Day for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships at TLC.
Tucker dominated early and tagged Otis into the match. Lucha House Party knocked everyone out of the ring and flipped onto them. Back in the ring, Heavy Machinery hit Gran Metalik with the Compacter to eliminate Lucha House Party.
Otis took off his shirt and got a huge pop from the crowd. Otis slammed Dawson to the canvas and Wilder tagged himself in. Otis knocked Dash out of the ring and hit Dawson with the Caterpillar. Wilder then rolled up Otis from behind to eliminate Heavy Machinery.
Shorty G and Ali knocked The Revival out of the ring and chased them around. The Revival started arguing with New Day and wound up getting thrown into them by Ali and Shorty G. Back in the ring, Ali planted Wilder with a Tornado DDT and went for a Suicide Dive but The Revival caught him.
Wilder and Dawson launched Ali into the timekeeper’s area. Shorty G applied the Ankle Lock on Wider but Daweson broke it up with an uppercut. The Revival then planted Shorty G with the Shatter Machine for the victory. The Revival will face New Day at TLC for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
It is hard to imagine that there will be that much excitement for this match at TLC. The Revival are a great team but we’ve seen these teams wrestle over and over again.
Bayley & Sasha Attacked Lacey Evans
Lacey Evans defeated a jobber tonight on SmackDown. After the match, Sasha Banks stated that they have some business that they need to take care of as SmackDown went to a commercial.
Sasha claimed that she was the leader of the women’s division. Evans stated that it was pathetic that Sasha called herself a leader and brought up her time in the Marine Corps.
Banks got into the ring and Lacey went for the Woman’s Right but Sasha retreated. Evans posed on the entrance ramp but Bayley attacked her from behind. Bayley and Sasha then posed on the entrance ramp to end the segment.
Corbin & Ziggler Poured Dog Food On Reigns
Roman Reigns squared off against Dolph Ziggler tonight on SmackDown. Reigns controlled the match early and knocked Dolph to the outside. Roman went for the Drive By but Ziggler dodged it and launched Reigns into the steel steps as SmackDown went to a commercial break.
When SmackDown returned, Ziggler was in control and started mocking Roman in the ring. Reigns responded with a punch to the face that knocked Ziggler to the canvas. Dolph tripped up Roman and Reigns fell into the turnbuckle.
Reigns knocked Ziggler to the outside and went for a Superman Punch but Dolph countered with a Superkick. King Corbin interrupted and was carried down the entrance ramp as SmackDown went to another commercial break.
When SmackDown returned, Reigns connected with a Superman Punch and went for the cover but Ziggler kicked out at two. Roman went for the Spear but Ziggler countered with a knee to the face. Dolph followed it up with the Zig Zag for a near fall.
Corbin hopped on the ring apron and started arguing with the referee. Reigns hit Corbin with a Superman Punch and Dolph tried to capitalize with a roll-up but Roman kicked out at two. Reigns then leveled Ziggler with a Spear for the pinfall victory.
After the match, Reigns hit Corbin with a Drive By but got ambushed by the men who carried Corbin to the ring. Reigns beat them all down but Corbin capitalized with a Clothesline from behind.
Reigns launched Corbin over the announce table and then started clearing it off. Dolph hit Roman with a Superkick and grabbed handcuffs from under the ring. Reigns was handcuffed to the ring post and Corbin unloaded several punches. Corbin and Ziggler then poured dog food on Roman Reigns to end the show.
WWE’s obsession with dog jokes and now dog food because Roman’s nickname is “The Big Dog” is pretty stupid. The crowd did boo the hell out of Corbin so I guess WWE got the reaction they were looking for. Overall, this week’s episode of SmackDown was not a good show. I thought The Miz and Bray Wyatt segment was done well and then the rest of the show fell off a cliff.
