6 Takeaways From WWE NXT (11/20)

NXT was a packed show

The November 20, 2019 episode of WWE NXT aired live from the Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University. Here are 6 takeaways from this week’s show:

Becky Lynch Opens

WWE wasn’t holding back as they kicked off the show with RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

She did so by doing an in-ring promo about how it’s been a while since she was in NXT and the fans in attendance seeing her kick some butt live. She said that although Triple H invited RAW stars to the show, she was coming anyway.

She then ran down her Survivor Series opponents – Bayley and Shayna Baszler – as she said that Bayley is like a teenage girl with an old lady haircut and that Bayley destroyed all her Bayley buddies, except the blue-haired one holding her back.

Lynch said that she’s here to remind Baszler of just who she is. She added that she’s in Baszler’s ring and asked what she’s going to do about it. Rhea Ripley walked out instead.

Ripley questioned if Lynch was the man and said let’s find out if she has balls. This led to a singles match between Lynch and Ripley.

It was a very good match and a hot start to the night. The match ended when Duke, Jessamyn Duke, and Marina Shafir ran down to attack Lynch and Ripley only to have the faces go over.

Ricochet Battles Matt Riddle

Kona Reeves was coming out to the ring when he was taken out by Ricochet. This led to Matt Riddle coming out and a surprise match between the two stars.

Riddle would go over Ricochet in a short yet fun match. Post-match, Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro attacked both stars. At one point, Ricochet did a springboard crossbody from the ring over the barricade and to the floor to take out Cesaro.

Roderick Strong took out Nakamura only to have Finn Balor attack Riddle to close the segment.

There was a lot to come from that segment due to all of the stars involved. It was a short-lived physical moment between Balor and Riddle heading into their match.

Riddle and Balor will battle at NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event on Saturday in Chicago, Illinois at the Allstate Arena.

This segment did a good job of getting several stars involved to help promote the Survivor Series pay-per-view event.

The Revival Suffer Defeat In NXT Return Match

In a match that many fans didn’t expect to see under the NXT banner, NXT Tag Team Champions The Undisputed Era took on The Revival in a non-title match that exceeded expectations.

As seen on the show, Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder lost to Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly. It was a fun match that served a bigger purpose. It was done to build intrigue into the theme of this year’s Survivor Series show.

With RAW, SmackDown, and NXT having cross over in various matches, it was a sample of what is to be expected. WWE gave these guys plenty of time to work and it was one of the best matches of the night.

Plus, The Revival and The Undisputed Era won’t be working a match against each at Survivor Series since The Revival lost the SmackDown Tag Team Titles to The New Day a few weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown.

The Viking Raiders In Action

WWE RAW Tag Team Champions The Viking Raiders battled the Forgotten Sons.

This was an unadvertised match on the show but one that actually had history as Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake were one of the last set of opponents for The War Raiders, who went by the name of the War Raiders at the time, in NXT before being called up to the main roster.

It was a solid match with the RAW stars going over. Although a decent match, it was a nice reunion for fans of the former NXT Tag Team Champions.

The Viking Raiders will be in action at Survivor Series as they will be in a Triple Threat Tag Team Match when they step into the squared circle against SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day and NXT Tag Team Champions Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly.

Adam Cole Earns WarGames advantage

Another week means there was another ladder match but this time, it involved the male side of the roster.

In one of the top matches on the show, Dominik Dijakovic and Adam Cole squared off in Ladder Match to determine would have the advantage come the night of NXT TakeOver: WarGames III. As seen on the show, WWE had Cole go over. It was a solid ladder match that was given some significant time.

It was a good match that has a bigger story that will be played out this Saturday night.

As a result, The Undisputed Era will have the advantage of heading into the NXT TakeOver: WarGames III event in Rosemont, Illinois at the Allstate Arena.

It will see The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly) vs. Tommaso Ciampa, Donovan Dijak, Keith Lee & TBA

RAW & SmackDown Invade

The expectation was several stars from RAW and SmackDown would appear on this show. That turned out to be a reality. Aside from Becky Lynch, Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins were the biggest stars to appear on the show from the main roster.

WWE did a big brawl with members of the men’s teams with RAW, SmackDown, and NXT.

Rollins stood tall in the ring after landing a super kick to Cole. Tommaso Ciampa walked down to the ring where he kicked Cole in the head then had a staredown with Rollins before a brawl broke out.

There was also a big brawl between the RAW, SmackDown, and NXT women earlier in the show.

This comes due to the crossover of this year’s Survivor Series promotion as for the first-time ever, NXT stars will be taking part in the traditional event.

The invasion also comes after Triple H announced at the end of RAW this week that NXT is opening the doors to RAW and SmackDown. Make no mistake about it, the reason for this is done in order to beat AEW Dynamite on TNT in the head-to-head battle.
