Impact Wrestling 11/19 emanated from St. Clair College in Windsor, ON, Canada and featured the last remaining matches to air from that set of tapings. A 6-person gauntlet match to determine the #1 contender to Sami Callihan’s Impact Wrestling championship headlined the card.
Here are 7 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 11/19:
Tessa Blanchard Is The #1 Contender For the Impact World Championship
- #1 Contender Gauntlet Match
Tessa Blanchard defeated Brian Cage, Rich Swann, Michael Elgin, Moose, & Daga - – Moose eliminated Daga
– Rich Swann eliminated Moose
– Michael Elgin via DQ
– Brian Cage eliminated Rich Swann
– Tessa Blanchard eliminated Brian Cage
Tessa Blanchard countered Weapon X into a pinning combination on Brian Cage and picked up the win in the main event. The win means Tessa Blanchard is now #1 contender to Sami Callihan’s World Championship. The match had already been announced as the main event for January 12th, 2020.
Tessa Blanchard’s last 2-years in Impact Wrestling really have been tremendous to watch. From becoming Knockouts champion, to feuding with a legend, to her babyface turn and inter-gender success, Blanchard’s time in this promotion has been great for both her and Impact Wrestling.
Rob Van Dam No-Showed His Promised Appearance
Last week on Impact Wrestling, Rob Van Dam promised he would make a live in-ring appearance on this week’s show. Unfortunately, RVD appeared only via video again this week. RVD said his travel plans just didn’t work out and he was unable to be there.
Ken Shamrock Seeks Revenge On Johnny Swinger
- Johnny Swinger defeated Buck Gunderson
Johnny Swinger picked up a win this week over Buck Gunderson but Ken Shamrock would come to the ring after seeking revenge. Swinger mistakenly pulled something of a rib on Shamrock recently, defecating in his luggage bag.
Shamrock got some blows in on Swinger and then locked in the ankle lock submission.
Ace Austin Attacks Trey In Front Of His Mom
- The Rascalz defeated Reno Scum, the Deaners, and the Desi Hit Squad
Wentz and Dez from the Rascalz picked up a win in this week’s opening 4-way tag match. After the match, however, the members of Reno Scum attacked. This brought out Trey for the save but Reno Scum’s ally Ace Austin then hit the ring. Trey recently earned a shot at Austin’s X-Division title.
As Trey’s mother (who Austin has shown a liking to) watched on, Austin softened up his future title challenger by placing a steel plate in his wrist band and striking Trey with it.
Rich Swann’s Chance At World Title Derailed
Rich Swann looked like he was cruising in the 6-person elimination match last night. After pinning Moose, Swann looked in tough against Michael Elgin but Elgin lost his cool and shoved the referee during the match, earning himself the DQ. Elgin then took his frustrations out on Swann, who was left in a bloody pile for the next contestant in the match Brian Cage.
Swann might want some revenge on Elgin for costing him his shot at the world title.
Jordynne Grace Sends Message To The Knockouts Champion
- Jordynne Grace defeated Taya Valkyrie & John E. Bravo
Taya Valkyrie bailed on John E Bravo this week as the two took on Jordynne Grace. Grace picked up the win on Bravo as Taya complained on the entrance ramp. At some point, Taya is going to have to defend her title against Thick Mama Pump and it might just be the last time she holds the Knockouts title.
Rosemary Won’t Let James Mitchell Suppress Su Yung
Su Yung has been wandering around backstage at Impact events ever since Havok tossed her over the side of a stairwell in a noose. She ran into James Mitchell this week who said he will take Su under his wing. This brought out Rosemary who told Mitchell she is not going to let him suppress what is left of the undead bride.
