The June 3, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Frank Erwin Center in Austin, Texas. In addition to the takeaways below, a puppet version of Vince McMahon made a cameo during this week’s episode of Firefly Fun House.
Here are 7 takeaways from this week’s show:
Shane McMahon Speared Roman Reigns
SmackDown superstar Roman Reigns kicked off this week’s episode of RAW to the same mixed reaction he always gets from the crowd.
SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon interrupted to a chorus of boos. Shane demanded a proper introduction from Mike Rome before stating that he cannot wait to shut Roman Reigns up at Super ShowDown this Friday. McMahon said that he is going to make Reigns submit for the first time in his career via the Triangle choke.
Reigns told Shane to shut up and vowed to “boom him through the mat” if he tries to apply the Triangle choke. Roman added that he was going to whip Drew McIntyre’s ass at Stomping Grounds in two weeks.
Drew McIntyre joined the party and demanded that the Texas crowd show some respect. McIntyre claimed that he was going to end Reigns at Stomping Grounds. The Revival then attacked Reigns from behind and The Usos rushed the ring for the save.
Roman Reigns & The Usos then faced McIntyre & The Revival in a 6-man tag team match. McIntyre and The Revival controlled the match early but the momentum changed when Reigns tagged in.
Roman hit McIntyre with a Superman Punch and then delivered on to Wilder on the apron. Jey Uso tagged in and climbed to the top rope but Shane shoved him to the mat. McIntyre hit Roman with a Claymore Kick as The Revival hit Jimmy with the Shatter Machine. McIntyre connected with the Claymore Kick on Jey for the pinfall victory.
After the match, The Revival hit Roman Reigns with Shatter Machine and McIntyre followed it up with another Claymore. Shane trash talked Roman for a bit and then leveled him with a Spear. Shane continued to taunt Roman before posing in the ring.
The Wild Card rule isn’t exciting when the it is the same superstars switching brands every time. Roman Reigns still playing a prominent role on RAW, while being a SmackDown superstar is also a nightmare.
Brock Lesnar Brutally Attacked Rollins, Will Cash In At Super ShowDown
Universal Champion Seth Rollins was on Miz TV tonight. Rollins stated that he would be relieved if Brock Lesnar showed up tonight because he cannot keep focusing on him.
Seth brought up his match against Baron Corbin this Friday at Super ShowDown and vowed to stomp his head into the mat on Friday. Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar then arrived at the arena and started walking towards the ring.
Lesnar and Heyman then stopped and turned down a hallway instead. Rollins was shown in the ring with a pissed off look on his face to end the segment. Later on RAW, Seth came down to the ring and Brock Lesnar’s music immediately hit.
Brock didn’t come down to the ring and Rollins shouted that he was sick of Lesnar’s games. Seth dared Lesnar to cash in the contract right now. Baron Corbin interrupted and told Rollins that he needs to forget about Brock Lesnar and focus on him. Corbin boasted about retiring Kurt Angle and said that he has no problem retiring Seth too.
Rollins knocked Corbin out of the ring and hit him with a Suicide Dive. Brock’s music hit once again and Rollins got distracted. Corbin capitalized with the End of Days and exited the ring. Brock’s music hit for a third time and Lesnar made his way towards the ring with the contract.
Lesnar hit Seth with a low blow and then beat the hell out of him with a steel chair. Brock followed it up with a German Suplex before hitting him with the chair once again. Lesnar hit Rollins with an F5 outside the ring and rolled him back inside.
Lesnar hit Seth with the steel chair a couple more times and then followed it up with a German Suplex. Heyman asked Brock if he wanted to cash in but Lesnar shouted “Friday”. Brock hit Rollins with the chair a couple more times before exiting the ring. Rollins was then stretchered out of the arena with Becky Lynch at his side.
I thought that this was one of the dumbest things I’ve seen in WWE in some time. Brock Lesnar brutally attacked Rollins tonight and had a referee ready to go. Instead of cashing in and easily becoming champion, Lesnar opted to fly to Saudi Arabia to cash in later this week. It was obvious that Lesnar was going to cash in at Super ShowDown the second he won the contract at MITB. WWE just used a bait and switch here to get people to tune in.
Becky Lynch Got Revenge on Lacey Evans
RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch came down to the ring that she had never been more content in her entire life after winning in the main event at WrestleMania. Lynch stated that Lacey Evans woke her up when she cost her the SmackDown Women’s Championship at Money in the Bank.
Lacey Evans interrupted and said that Lynch is not in her head and she is not to be messed with. Evans vowed to become the next RAW Women’s Champion. Charlotte Flair interrupted and told Becky to stop making excuses about losing to her at WWE Money in the Bank.
Charlotte added that she is more than halfway to beating her father’s championship record. Flair boasted about leaving Lacey Evans laying in the ring last week and Evans told Charlotte to run along back to SmackDown. Evans then punched Flair in the face and strutted around the ring.
Evans and Flair then had a match as Becky Lynch was ringside. Lynch interfered in the match and threw Charlotte out of the ring. Becky beat Evans down and Lacey wound up winning the match by DQ.
Samoa Joe Is Once Again The United States Champion
United States Champion Rey Mysterio came down to the ring to relinquish the title. Samoa Joe interrupted before Rey was able to so. Joe said that he heard the word champion and he thought it was his cue. Joe claimed Mysterio was relinquishing the title because he never really pinned him.
Rey interrupted and said that he was here to relinquish his US Title to Samoa Joe due to his shoulder injury. Rey told Joe that this won’t be the last he will see of him and then went to exit the ring. Joe attacked Mysterio from behind and locked in the Coquina Clutch. WWE officials rushed the ring and quickly broke it up.
I would have preferred to see a tournament for the vacant US Title, with the final match taking place at Stomping Grounds. Instead, Joe simply is the United States Champion again and this segment fell flat.
Randy Orton Confronted Triple H
Triple H came down to the ring to loud “NXT!” chants. He stated that he was here to talk about Randy Orton and Randy immediately interrupted.
Triple H said that they both know what these segments are about, superstars come out here and say bad things about each other and then hopefully some fighting happens. He noted that they have said everything to each other in the past and will kick Orton’s ass at Super ShowDown.
Orton said that he is not Batista and will gladly defeat him this Friday. Triple H complimented Orton and stated that he was one of the best ever to step in the ring. He pointed out that a lot of people have tried to put him down, now they are all gone and he is still here. Triple H got right in Randy’s face and told him that he will not be the one to put him down.
Triple H went to leave the ring but Orton stopped him. Orton asked Triple H to promise to retrieve his balls from Stephanie’s purse before Friday. Triple H laughed and got back inside the ring. Triple H joked that his balls are just so big that it is such a burden to carry them around. He added that Orton wouldn’t know anything about that because he’s never had any balls. Triple H told Orton that he will see him at Super ShowDown and threw the microphone at him.
Cesaro Attacked Ricochet
Cesaro battled Ricochet once again on this week’s episode of WWE RAW. Cesaro dominated early and beat Richochet down in the corner of the ring. Ricochet connected with a sloppy looking Hurricanrana off the barricade outside the ring. Ricochet followed it up with a Moonsault off the second rope as RAW went toa break.
Is there anything @KingRicochet CAN'T do?!? @WWECesaro vs. @KingRicochet is off to a jaw-dropping start! #RAW pic.twitter.com/EewVslP3JV
— WWE (@WWE) June 4, 2019
When RAW returned, Cesaro trapped Ricochet in the swing and then dropped him to the canvas. Cesaro followed it up with an uppercut for a near fall. Ricochet then rolled up Cesaro for the pinfall victory. After the match, Cesaro attacked Ricochet from behind and then pulled out a table from under the ring. R-Truth was actually hiding on the table and Cesaro got distracted.
Ricochet Dropkicked Cesaro over the barricade as several superstars from the locker room came down to the ring to chase R-Truth. Cedric Alexander flipped onto everyone as R-Truth escaped back into the ring. Drake Maverick snuck into the ring but Carmella leveled him with a Superkick. Carmella and R-Truth then escaped through the crowd.
The Undertaker Closed The Show
The Undertaker will face Goldberg this Friday at WWE Super ShowDown. At the conclusion of this week’s episode of RAW, The Undertaker made his way to the ring.
Undertaker asked if you ever wonder what happens when you come face to face with death for the first time. The Undertaker stated that he doesn’t want Goldberg the family man, he wants the unstoppable, mythical icon, Goldberg. He then promised Goldberg that if he brings anything less, their first match will Goldberg’s last. The Undertaker vowed to claim Goldberg’s soul for all of eternity and said: “Goldberg, you’re next” as RAW went off the air.
I hope that The Undertaker and Goldberg can put on an entertaining match, but it will likely be 90% entrances and then a quick bout this Friday. This week’s episode of RAW was once again a subpar show. The Undertaker had to rush through the promo because he got to the ring with a minute left in the show. There was an arm wrestling segment with Braun Strowman and Bobby Lashley. Lars Sullivan brawled again with the Lucha House Party as well. It was more of the same and didn’t get me any more excited for Super ShowDown this Friday.
