Veteran MMA commentator Jimmy Smith made his first appearance as the lead announcer for Raw during this week’s episode of the show and he reportedly received praise for his work during his debut.
According to reports from PWInsider, the former American Ninja Warrior announcer received generally positive reviews from officials. The company was very happy with the energy he brought to the table.
The feeling among people backstage is that the time he spent preparing for the new role in recent weeks made the difference in Smith having the right rhythm and energy for the job.
On a related note, the site reveals that Molly Holly, who was backstage at Raw for a tryout for producer role will be returning for more episodes in the future.
The Hall Of Famer was taken through the paces of the role during last night’s episode of the show. She will return for more episodes moving forwards as the two sides feel each other out.
Jimmy Smith hosted American Ninja Warrior in 2010-11. He worked with Bellator MMA from 2010-17 and had a stint with UFC in 2018-19 as well.
Molly Holly on the other hand, retired from active competition in 2005 after an 8 year long career with the company. She was inducted into Hall Of Fame as part of the 2021 class earlier this year.
