In a recent interview with Tokyo Sports, Hiroshi Tanahashi insinuated that he should get a shot at Chris Jericho’s AEW World Championship if he is victorious over him at Wrestle Kingdom. Jericho and Tanahashi will meet on the second night of the event, January 5th, 2020 inside the Tokyo Dome.
Jericho recently published a video on Instagram responding to Tanahashi’s comments. In the video, Jericho agrees to give Tanahashi an AEW World Championship match if he beats him at Wrestle Kingdom.
“What you don’t know is I speak and read perfect Japanese,” Jericho says in the video. “I read what you said about the Tokyo Dome. You said if you can beat me that you will enter the forbidden portal and request a title shot for the AEW Championship. I thought it’s a great idea. So, Le Champion asked the chairman of the board, the owner of AEW Tony Khan if it is ok to grant your request and he said yes. If you can beat me in the Tokyo Dome, I will give you a championship match for the AEW title.”

“If the Tanahashi wins and develops into a championship, the relationship between the two organizations may be new,” a loose translation of some of the article reads.
