CM Punk seems to have moved on from his professional wrestling career. After walking out on WWE back in January of 2014, Punk has become deeply embedded in the mixed martial arts (MMA) world. Punk has now fought twice for the UFC, with a third potential bout still up in the air. He is also set to make his MMA commentary debut for the Cage Fury Fighting Championships promotion.
Aside from MMA, Punk is also doing more acting and writing comic books. He spoke to The Associated Press recently to promote his commentary gig with CFFC. During the interview, Punk was asked about professional wrestling. He was asked about fans still chanting his name during WWE shows, almost five years since his departure. Here’s what he had to say:
“You stop it and five years later people still talk about you? Fans still chant your name? That’s powerful to me.”
Punk’s potential return to the squared circle has been speculated since the day he left. It’s unlikely he returns anytime soon, however, Punk now seems reluctant to answer any questions in regards to a return to wrestling. He said people get mad at him whenever he talks about it:
“I don’t pay attention. People seem to get upset when I say that.”
What do you make of Punk’s comments regarding still being in high demand amongst WWE crowds?
