Cris Cyborg’s New Bellator Contract Allows Potential Wrestling Transition

Cris Cyborg could do a pro wrestling match.

The possibility of former UFC Women’s Featherweight Champion Cris Cyborg making a potential pro wrestling transition just increased.

On Tuesday, Bellator MMA, which is owned by parent company Viacom, announced that they signed Cyborg to the largest of its kind in women’s MMA history. It’s a multi-year, multi-fight contract.

Her agent Audie Attar of Paradigm Sports Management told ESPN that Bellator contract allows her to compete or perform in other combat sports ventures. Thus, this clause leaves the door open for Cyborg crossing over into things like boxing or pro wrestling “if the right opportunity presented itself,” Attar said.

Cyborg has been open about her interest in transitioning to professional wrestling after her MMA career winds down.

She was ringside at the first All Elite Wrestling show, Double or Nothing, in Las Vegas. Back in January, she trained at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida.

Cyborg joins current champ Julia Budd, Olga Rubin, Arlene Blencowe, Janay Harding and Leslie Smith among others in the Bellator women’s featherweight division.

She joins Bellator after a three-year run in UFC, multiple world titles and a 20-fight unbeaten streak.
