WWE SummerSlam 2016 took place tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.

Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens def. Enzo & Cass: Enzo and Cass cut their usual pre-match promos. Jericho and Enzo go back and forth in the opening moments with Enzo scoring a near-fall after a neckbreaker. Cass gets the tag and throws Enzo over the top rope all the way down to the outside ontop of the heels. Back in the ring, Owens comes back with a knee to the midsection of Enzo and a Senton Bomb for a near-fall. Jericho springboard dropkicks Cass off the apron, and Owens hits a Frogsplash off the top for a near-fall on Enzo. Cass gets the hot tag and clears the ring. He hits a running powerslam and an Empire Elbow on Jericho for a near-fall. Jericho comes off the top rope but Cass catches him with a big boot. Owens makes the save and takes Cass to the outside, then hits a cannonball on him up against the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Enzo hits the DDG off the top, but Owens breaks up the pin. Enzo fights off Owens, then turns around into a Codebreaker from Jericho. Jericho pins and gets the 1-2-3.

– Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan arrive backstage and run into Mick Foley and John Stewart. Stephanie walks in and has words with Stewart. She says what good is power if you can’t abuse it. The New Day interrupts with their trombone, without Big E, and they say they need to borrow John for something.

New WWE Women’s Champion Charlotte def. Sasha Banks: Sasha Banks’ Women’s Title is on the line in this one. Banks gets her in the Banks Statement early on, but Charlotte gets out. Sasha hits an arm drag off the top turnbuckle, but Charlotte comes back with a botched suplex off the turnbuckle for a 2 count. They botch a crucifix pin spot shortly after, and it appears Sasha may have been hurt on the turnbuckle suplex spot. Sasha comes back with a series of dropkicks and is still selling her back. Charlotte hits a backbreaker for a 2 count, then stomps a mud hole in her in the corner. Charlotte goes for a Razor’s Edge off the top, but Sasha reverses it into a hurricanrana. They trade lefts and rights in the middle of the ring until. Charlotte goes for a spear in the corner but Sasha dodges it and gets her in a Boston Crab around the ropes, then hits a double knee strike to the back of Charlotte off the top for a near-fall. Charlotte rolls outside and Sasha hits the double knees off the turnbuckle onto Charlotte all the way to the floor. Back in the ring, The Boss gets Charlotte in the Banks Statement in the middle of the ring, but Charlotte escapes. Charlotte comes back with a neckbreaker and starts working on Charlotte’s knee. She hits the Natural Selection for a 2 count. Sasha reverses a backbreaker into the Banks Statement once again, but Charlotte rolls back and reverse into a pin for the win! Charlotte has won the Women’s Title from Sasha Banks.

– Dr. Gallows & Dr. Anderson are in the back and the run into AJ Styles. AJ says he’s going to beat up John Cena tonight, then Finn Balor interrupts them. They go to give Finn the Kliq high-five, but Finn snubs them.

The Miz (c) def. Apollo Crews: The Miz’s Intercontinental Title is on the line in this one. Miz starts off in control and delivers a couple big boots to the head of Crews for a two-count early on. The Miz comes off the top rope but Crews catches him with a dropkick. Crews goes for a standing moonssult but The Miz gets his knees up. Crews comes right back with a punhandle running powerslam for a near-fall. The Miz goes for a splash in the corner, but Crews catches him, pivots, and hits a belly to belly suplex. He connects with a standing moonsault for another 2 count. Crews misses a splash in the corner and hits his head on the ring post. The Miz follows up with a Skull Crushing Finale for the win.

AJ Styles def. John Cena: The crowd is hot for this one. They lock up and go back and forth in the opening moments. They start brawling on the apron and AJ hits a brainbuster on Cena right on the apron. Back in the ring, Cena comes back with a big back body drop for a near-fall. Cena hits a suplex and a series of shoulder blocks. Cena hits a back suplex and follows up with the Five Knuckle Shuffle. Cena goes for the AA but Styles gets out and hits the Pele Kick. AJ follows up with the Styles Clash for a 2-count. Cena comes back with an Attitude Adjustment almost right away for a near-fall. Cena takes Styles up top for an AA off the turnbuckle, but Styles escapes. AJ gets Cena in the Torture Rack and spins him out into a powerbomb for a 2-count. AJ hits a Death Valley Driver-backbreaker for another near-fall. AJ goes for a springboard 450 splash off the top, but Cena rolls out of the way. Cena hits a sunset flip into a powerbomb for a near-fall. AJ comes back with a series of suplexes for another near-fall. AJ goes for the Phenomenal Forearm, but Cena sidesteps and gets him in the STF. AJ gets out and puts Cena in an STF of his own, and Cena lifts him up into position for an AA. Styles escapes, and gets Cena into the Calf Crusher. Cena escapes that and gets AJ in the STF again. AJ gets out and kicks Cena in the head. He sits Cena up the turnbuckle, but Cena comes back with a Tornado DDT. Cena hits a Fameasser off the top for a near-fall. Cena goes for an AA off the middle rope, but AJ fights out and hits a springboard Frankensteiner off the top. AJ follows up wih the Phenomenal Forearm for a 2 count. AJ fights out of another AA attempt, but Cena still drops him with a clothesline. Cena puts AJ on his shoulders and goes up top the middle rope. AJ tries to elbow his way out of it, but Cena successfully hits the AA off the middle rope. Cena pins and AJ kicks out at two. Cena looks frustrated and goes for another AA, but Styles gets out and hits the Styles Clash! AJ rolls to the apron and follows up with the Phenomenal Forearm for the win by pinfall!

– Jon Stewart makes his way out to the ring next. Stewart puts over the AJ-Cena match we just say. Stewart gets lots of “What” chants from the crowd, but eventually they give up. Jon starts talking about Gallows and Anderson injuring Big E, and says that tonight he’s going to be an honorary member of The New Day to fill Big E’s spot tonight. He does the New Day’s intro speech, and out come Kofi and Xavier.

Gallows & Anderson def. Kofi & Xavier Woods via DQ: The New Day’s Tag Titles are on the line in this one. The Club has a special jar at ringside for Jon Stewart tonight. The Club members control the majority of the opening moments of the match. Kofi hits a big double foot stomp on Anderson, then the New Day takes turns stomping a mud hole in Gallows in the corner. Gallows rolls outside and Kofi hits him with a suicide dive over the top rope. Back in the ring, Anderson interferes and Gallows is able to come back against Kofi. Anderson and Xavier get the tags. Xavier hits a big boot and a big elbow drop off the top for a near-fall. Kofi gets the tag, and Gallows drops Xavier to the floor. Gallows and Anderson hit the Magic Killer on Kofi, but Jon Stewart hits the ring and breaks the pin. Gallows and Anderson grab Jon Stewart and go to crotch him on the turnbuckle. Just as they’re about to do it, Big E comes out and lays out Gallows and Anderson. Big E hits a belly to belly overhead suplex on Gallows on the floor, then slams Anderson into the fan barricade. The ref calls for the bell. The New Day celebrates in the ring with Jon Stewart after the match.

Dean Ambrose (c) def. Dolph Ziggler: The bell rings and after a couple headlock takedowns they trade slaps to the face. Ziggler hits a dropkick and a splash in the corner, then takes things to ringside for a swinging neckbreaker on the floor. Back in the ring, they take things up to the top rope and Ambrose hits a double underhook suplex off the turnbuckle. Ambrose comes off the top rope for a splash but Ziggler catches him with a dropkick. Ambrose hits a facebuster then goes for a superkick, but Ziggler blocks it and hits a tornado DDT off the middle rope. Ziggler sidesteps a spear and Ambrose goes right into the ring post. Ziggler grabs Ambrose and hits the Fameasser for a near-fall. Ambrose hits an elbow off the top on Ziggler for another two count. Ambrose takes things to the outside, but Ziggler comes back with a headbutt and a superkick. Back in the ring, Ziggler hits the Zig Zag for a near-fall. Ambrose comes back with a clothesline and both men are down. They go up to the top rope and Ziggler takes him down, but Ambrose hits the Dirty Deeds and gets the win via pinfall.

Natalya, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Bella def. Naomi, Carmella, Becky Lynch: Eva Marie’s music hits but she’s nowhere to be seen, and her announcer explains that she’s on vacation, and Nikki Bella comes out as her replacement. The babyfaces get lots of offense in the opening moments, until Natalya comes back with a running powerslam on Carmella for a near-fall. Nikki gets the tag and cokes Carmella in the corner. Alexa tags in and hits a moonsault and double knee strike on Carmella for another near-fall. Natalya comes back in, then Becky gets the hot tag who hits a springboard sidekick on all three heels. Becky follows up with a flying forearm and a t-bone suplex on Natalya. Becky follows up with a leg drop off the top, but Nikki breaks up the pin. Naomi and Alexa get the tags, and Naomi hits a series of kicks. Nikki and Carmella get the tags, Carmella hits a big boot and a botched bronco buster. All the competitors hit the ring, and when the dust settles Nikki hits a TKO on Carmella for the win.

– Rusev and Lana are in the back with Maria Menounos cutting a promo on Roman Reigns.

New WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor def. Seth Rollins: The new WWE Universal Title is on the line in this one. The new belt looks very similar to the WWE World Title, except the leather behind the WWE logo is red. As soon as the bell rings Balor hits a dropkick that sends Rollins into the turnbuckle. Rollins rolls outside and Balor hits a suicide dive, then throws him back in the ring and continues the offense. They go back to ringside shortly after and Balor hits a springboard forearm off the fan barricade, but Rollins comes back with a powerbomb that sends Balor into the barricade. Back in the ring, Rollins stays in control of the match. Balor hits a facebuster into the bottom turnbuckle for a near-fall. Rollins hits a springboard knee to the head of Balor, then hits a big frogsplash off the top rope for a near-fall. Balor comes back with a DDT and both men are down. Rollins comes back with a dropkick, but Balor hits a Pele kick and follows up with the 1916 for a near-fall. Balor misses a double foot stomp off the top and Rollins gets him in a triangle choke. Balor gets out, but walks into a kick and a powerbomb into the turnbuckle from Rollins for a two count. Balor gets off some strikes, but Rollins drops him with a small package driver for another near-fall. Balor kicks Rollins to the outside, then dropkicks him into the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Balor hits the double foot stomp to the back of Rollins’ head for a near-fall. Balor misses his second double foot stomp attempt, and Rollins hits the Pedigree for a near-fall of his own. Rollins hits a superplex and rolls through, but Balor gets out and hits a double foot stomp and a series of dropkicks. Balor goes up top and hits the double foot stomp for the win.

Rusev (c) vs. Roman Reigns – No Contest: Rusev’s U.S. Title is on the line in this one. Rusev jumps Reigns before the bell and they brawl around ringside. Reigns hits a superman punch that sends Rusev into the timekeeper area. Reigns lays out Rusev with a steel chair and continues the beat down at ringside. The referees walk Reigns to the back and it appears the match has been called off. Reigns comes back down and spears Rusev.

Brock Lesnar def. Randy Orton: Heyman cuts a promo before the match about his client, Brrrrrrock Lesssnar. Lesnar starts off the match with a series of knees and shoulder blocks to the midsection. He goes for a German suplex but Orton gets out and hits a dropkick. Orton goes for an RKO, but Lesnar throws him off then successfully hits a series of German suplexes. Lesnar takes things to the outside and puts Orton through an announce table. Lesnar takes him back in the ring for another German suplex, then kicks Orton back out to ringside. Lesnar takes Orton up onto another announce table, but then Orton RKOs him onto it. Back in the ring, Orton DDTs Lesnar off the middle rope, then hits another RKO for a near-fall. Orton goes to punt Lesnar, but Lesnar grabs him and F-5’s him for a two count. Lesnar mounts Orton and starts pummeling him with punches and elbows. Orton is bleeding and it looks deep. A medic comes in to check on Orton, but Lesnar pushes him off and continues beating on Orton. The referee pulls off Lesnar and another medic comes to check on Orton, and the bell rings. It’s announced that Lesnar won via TKO. Lesnar throws a few more punches at the grounded Orton, then Shane McMahon hits the ring. Lesnar gives Shane an F-5 and Heyman pleads with Lesnar to stop. Lesnar walks to the back and Orton is tended to by medics as SummerSlam goes off the air.
