Mick Foley On AEW: “They’re Not Showing The Patience They Need To”

WWE Hall of Famer and hardcore legend Mick Foley has shared some constructive thoughts regarding All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Foley explained how AEW has, in his opinion, not been patient enough in their storytelling. He highlighted the Unsanctioned Lights Out match between Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega that took place at last year’s AEW Full Gear pay-per-view as an example.

“Maybe, they’re not showing the patience they need to. I would say that Moxley and Kenny Omega shouldn’t have had their first match in a wild, anything goes environment,” Foley explained to Inside The Ropes.

He continued, “I think these are mistakes made out of wanting to give people the absolute best product they can. But I do feel like there needs to be somebody reigning in their enthusiasm.”

Mick Foley On NXT’s Advantage

Foley highlighted how NXT’s current advantage lies in how their talents work the camera. He argued this comes from a more seasoned team of both crew and Superstars.

Although he is isn’t critical of AEW’s enthusiasm, he reiterated his belief that “somebody needs to reigns these guys in” in the same way Gerald Brisco once did with a young Mick Foley. He believes that this mentality would lead to longer, satisfying feuds and storylines. It would also help with a performer’s “longevity” as a competitor.
