The first-ever WWE ‘War Games’ match has been announced.
At Wednesday night’s NXT TV tapings from Full Sail University, NXT General Manager William Regal announced that the upcoming Takeover event during Survivor Series weekend will feature War Games – a match featuring two rings and a massive steel cage structure.
War Games will feature Sanity (Eric Young, Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dane) vs. The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly) vs. The Authors of Pain and Roderick Strong (with Paul Ellering).
These matches are in addition to:
- NXT Champion Drew McIntyre vs. Andrade ‘Cien’ Almas
- Kairi Sane vs. Ember Moon vs. Peyton Royce vs. Nikki Cross to crown the new NXT Women’s Champion
NXT Takeover: War-games takes place on Saturday night, November 18th from Houston, Texas at the Toyota Center.
War Games was a match created by the late “American Dream” Dustry Rhodes. The first War Games match took place back in 1987 during the NWA’s “Great American Bash” tour. War Games would go on to become one of the NWA & WCW’s signature matches and was the feature attraction of WCW’s annual Fall Brawl pay-per-view from 1993-1998.
ROH Champion Cody Rhodes commented on the news of War Games returning, noting that WWE informed him about the news before it was announced.
I'm not mad. I was told. H worked for my Dad and then my Dad worked for him. They were friends. Care and effort will be placed into it.
