WWE announced this week that NXT Takeover XXV will take place on Saturday, June 1st from Bridgeport, CT.
This will be a rare NXT Takeover event that does not take place during a WWE pay-per-view weekend. Initially, this show would have been coupled with the since-cancelled WWE Backlash pay-per-view. That show was scrapped to accommodate WWE’s return to Saudi Arabia on June 7th.
WWE held the latest round of NXT television tapings Wednesday night from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. You can check out full spoilers from those tapings here.
NXT Takeover Card (6/1)
The following contains spoilers for the next several weeks of NXT TV:
Based on the happenings of this week’s NXT TV tapings, we know the top thee matches for the next Takeover show.
- NXT Champion Johnny Gargano will defend against Adam Cole of the Undisputed Era.
- NXT North American Champion Velveteen Dream defends against Tyler Breeze.
- Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Riley vs The Street Profits vs The Forgotten Sons vs Oney Lorcan & Danny Burch for the vacant NXT Tag Team Championships
Takeover events often outshine the WWE pay-per-views that occur during the same weekend. As great as the shows are, there’s no question NXT’s ticket sales benefit from WWE fans attending both shows. It will be interesting to see how this show does without piggybacking off a WWE PPV.
