Pedro Aguayo Ramirez, who wrestled as Hijo del Perro Aguayo, passed away due to trauma to the neck and a cervical fracture, according to the state prosecutor’s office. The same office has begun an investigation into possible manslaughter.
The president of the Tijuana Boxing and Wrestling Commission, Juan Carlos Pelayo, addressed the medical treatment at a press conference on Saturday.
“The reaction for medical attention was quick, in my opinion,” said Pelayo. He also explained that the physician that was supposed to be at ringside was not present during the match because he was backstage treating an injured wrestler.
