In a surprising move, Finn Balor is no longer the WWE Intercontinental Champion as he dropped it to Shinsuke Nakamura.
On Sunday’s WWE Extreme Rules pre-show, Nakamura won the secondary title on the Smackdown roster when he pinned Balor for the shocking win.
Balor won the prestigious secondary title for the first time when he beat Bobby Lashley back at the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view event in Houston, Texas in February.
Balor beat Lashley to regain the title for the second time in April in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium at WrestleMania 35, which is the biggest event of the year for the company.
It will be interesting to see if WWE gives Balor a rematch for the Intercontinental Title on Monday’s RAW or they wait until next month at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event.
