WWE has issued an update on the storyline involving the backstage incident where Roman Reigns was almost crushed by steel beams Tuesday night. During the final moments of Smackdown, Roman Reigns was scheduled to make a SummerSlam challenge backstage. The segment was halted, however, when several steel beams fell towards him, nearly pinning the Big Dog underneath.
WWE issued a statement today upon the conclusion of their investigation into the cause of the incident.
“A preliminary investigation has found the incident Tuesday night involving Roman Reigns was caused by a forklift backstage carrying lighting grids that were not properly secured,” a WWE press release regarding the incident reads.
WWE would then issue a follow-up notice at 10:40 AM this morning, placing additional blame upon the forklift driver.
“Update to story – 10:40 a.m. ET
It has now been determined that the incident in question was specifically caused by a forklift driver error.”
Neither Roman Reigns nor the forklift driver currently have an official match at SummerSlam.
Roman Reigns In Hobbs & Shaw
Roman Reigns recently spoke with Extra TV regarding how he got his role in the Rock’s Hobbs & Shaw movie.
“I had already auditioned, my tape was already out there. Dwayne was keeping tabs on me making sure everything was going good with the recovery. (Once I started feeling good) He said what about this. Do you have a little bit of time? I said I already auditioned for that. If you are cool with it I am cool with it. “
