Monday’s RAW from Los Angeles featured guest appearances from #2 NBA draft pick Lonzo Ball, his father LaVar and his brother, LaMelo. The segment got WWE some mainstream media coverage, but was marred by 15-year-old LaMelo uttering a racial slur twice on live television.
During a special edition of Miz TV, the Ball family was there to promote their Big Baller Brand line of apparel and footwear. As the animated patriarch of the family, LaVar, was jumping around the ring shirtless and getting into it with The Miz, LaMelo was heard telling his father, “beat that n—a ass” into the live mic – twice (Video).
In a statement issued to the Los Angeles Times, a WWE spokesperson said,
The inappropriate language used by a guest during the ‘Miz TV’ segment was not scripted nor reflects WWE’s values.”
LaMelo Ball is a standout high school basketball player and already has a scholarship to UCLA.
