Triple H, Daniel Bryan & Seth Rollins Talk About KENTA Signing With WWE

Triple H, Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins all recently took part in a new WWE.com article that looks at the company’s signing of Japanese star KENTA.

Triple H offered the following comments: “He just signed with us. I was there when he had his tryout at the Performance Center and I met with him there. We’ve been working on this for a while. His training will start when he gets here. The thing is, you can be a big star anyplace else in the world. That gets you in the door. What you do once you get here is a whole different ballgame. He’s no different than anybody else once he walks through the door of the Performance Center.”

Daniel Bryan said: “Kenta has wrestled in the United States, Europe and Mexico. He knows how to switch his styles up with what WWE is doing, so the sky is the limit for him. He has worked hard at speaking English. I don’t necessarily think he should be doing long interviews, but if you told him to, he would be able to do it within a year or two because he’s so smart. And the big thing is, he’s cool. It’s like when you meet The Rock, he’s cool. Kenta’s just cool, and somehow it translates in the United States. When people see him and meet him, they’re just like, ‘Man, this guy’s cool.'”

Seth Rollins said: “The sky’s the limit for him. He’s got unlimited potential based on his skill set. He’s not the prototypical WWE Superstar. He’s not Hulk Hogan and he’s not John Cena, but he has a certain charisma about him that’s completely different than what anybody else has in the company right now. He’s got an opportunity to bring a different style to the game in an era when MMA is very prominent. Guys his size who hit as hard as he does are very popular and can connect with an audience.”

  • Kaitlyn Speaks On The Decision To Leave WWE, If She’ll Ever Return & More

The following are highlights of a new Baltimore Sun interview with former WWE Diva Kaitlyn:

Life since leaving WWE: “When I retired, it was a bit of a last-minute decision. I had been thinking about it for a while because there was a lot of things happening in my life and it was a transitional time for me. I had just gotten engaged, and I wanted to plan my wedding. I also had this project on the backburner, with this business site, that I wanted to wait to start until I retired from WWE. When I made the decision, rather quickly, to leave the WWE, I went full throttle into making my business work, while also planning a wedding. So it’s been pretty hectic.”

Does she watch WWE still? “Not regularly. I still do sometimes because I have friends there that I’m close with. I do enjoy it, I love wrestling. I’m not really focused in, or watch it every week. Maybe I will have a chance to get back into it, but I have so much going on. I will watch it occasionally though to watch my friends and those I’ve been friends with for a long time.”

Would she have stayed if WWE was focusing on Divas like they are now? “That’s a really hard question. I might have stayed a little bit longer, possibly. I just reached the point where I had done a lot of cool stuff in the WWE and traveled the world and I had the title, and I think I did some really great stuff. It wasn’t a super-hard decision to step back and leave. I can’t really go back and say I would’ve stayed longer. But it’s possible. I guess it depends on what was going on at the time, especially if there were more opportunities for more storylines like there are now. But I guess what I’m saying is that I don’t regret leaving, because I love my life. I love everything that I have going on right now.

It does make me happy to see all the girls really getting a chance to show their talent and abilities and personalities. It makes me proud to see that they’re getting a good opportunity.”

Her future: “Right now I’m really focusing on Celestial Bodiez, my new company and clothing line. It takes a lot to start from the ground up. I’m really focusing on that and continuing to steadily grow. Maybe I’ll do some more appearances in the future for wrestling and who knows from there.”

Will she wrestle again? “I don’t think I will ever wrestle again, but if I do, it would be for WWE. I just feel like that’s my place. It’s where I developed my wrestling abilities and character and that’s where I would stay if I was to wrestle again. The good thing about when I left is that I left on very good terms with the WWE. It left the door open for me if I ever wanted to come back. It’s not completely out of the question to ever return, whether it’s for a short-term or longer. Maybe there will be a point down the line that I miss wrestling bad enough that I’ll want to come back. As for now though, I’m just focusing on my company and my marriage and haven’t gotten that itch to wrestle.”

Adrian Neville recently spoke to Brian Fritz of Between The Ropes at a WWE “Be a Star” rally. During their discussion, which you can check out above, Neville talked about the support he and the NXT crew received from John Cena recently.

“John is always very supportive and he always has good, sound advice,” Neville said. “He always has time to talk to you and let you know what he thinks.”

Neville continued, “He’s always very honest, which I respect and I appreciate. He was very complimentary after that. He knew how big the occasion was not only for myself but for the brand in general. He knew post match that the show itself, we hit it out of the park, we hit a home run. It was very cool to kind of get that because that day was very much kind of this whirlwind of activity and it was easy to get lost, but for John to kind afterwards come came and put it all in perspective. It was a very humbling moment and it was very cool.”

  • Jim Ross Speaks On Possibly Working In TNA, Working With CM Punk & More

The following are highlights of a new Between The Ropes interview with Jim Ross:

Following up on a recent question asked to him on Twitter if he would be open to broadcasting for TNA Wrestling and him saying ‘never say never’: “Well, it’s kind of far-fetched it the sense that A) those discussions aren’t happening. I don’t have any desire to get back into the weekly grind of pro wrestling. Or the weekly grind of anything other than this podcast is weekly. I could do it from home if I wanted to. But I enjoy doing it at the radio station and I enjoy having a destination, to go to work, prepare. I enjoy it. I think when you’re an independent contract as I am, and you’re a freelance talent as I am, by in-large, you don’t want to say ‘I’m never doing that’ because someone can come along and make you an offer that is really better than you dreamer you would ever get. It’s not likely at all. I’m not looking at that direction but I don’t think it’s very smart to say I’ll never do that. It would take an extraordinary deal because I don’t know why I would be excited about replacing one of two guys that I like. You don’t get that many friends in the wrestling business that stick with you through thick and thin. You get a lot fewer calls when you can’t help somebody or can’t do something for them. And I don’t know if I would feel comfortable about of upsetting the team of Mike (Tenay) and Taz. As I sit here, I don’t feel right about that.”

On possibly working with CM Punk on broadcasts: “I’m not saying I’ll never do wrestling again. I did my podcast this week and said you know, crazy idea what if CM Punk and I joined forces and made a broadcast team and did an internet pay-per-view for a New Japan show. Something completely off the tracks. An not do it in a studio but go to Tokyo or go wherever the event was held. Be there as the English speaking crew. We might be the version of the Spanish announce table. And I just threw that out there and know I’ve got all kinds of people ‘oh, when are you and CM Punk. when did you talk to Phil’. Well, I haven’t talked to Phil. I made it clear on the podcast this is fantasy booking. I said this will get people talking. Well, here’s a good one for you. This will get people talking. Watch how this works. And then I laid it out: New Japan is doing these pay-per-views and they want to air them in the States. They’re inexpensive and all this good stuff. CM Punk is going to be available to do some stuff one of these days. And I’d love to work with him as the analyst of a pro wrestling match or a MMA fight.”

If he thinks he’ll be broadcasting MMA in the near future: “I don’t have any idea. I’ve thrown it out there. That’s what you have agents. I got two of them. They’re both talking different deals so I don’t know. I’m interested the door is open so we’ll see who walks through if anybody.”

On him starting work on his book: “Just this week, we’re starting to do some serious work on my autobiography. And I’m doing it differently than people would say is probably customary. I don’t have a book deal. I turned down book deals from a lot of places. I decided I want to write the book I believe to be true and honest, entertaining, eye-opening and more than just wrestling headlocks and screwjobs and stuff like that. So, I’m going to write the book. I’ve got a writing partner and we’re going to write the book the way that we want it. We’re figured up an ending place which right now is probably going to be when I came back from my second bout of Bell’s Palsy to call the first Rock – Austin WrestleMania main event. I’m thinking that would be the end. That would give us cause to write a second book that would bring in the Attitude Era, the Monday Night Wars, my role in the WWE and the corporate side and then having that third bout of Bell’s Palsy and then kind of getting futured and moving off Raw and moved to Smackdown. I think it give us plenty of material for the second book.”

Vince Russo Talks About His Battle With Depression

Vince Russo published a new blog this week at PyroandBallyhoo.com and spoke about his longtime battle with depression. Here’s part of what he wrote:

“There are many reasons why I started this website, some obvious–some not so much. At the top of the list was my longing to just finally have my own voice. Sit down at my computer any time I want, and have the freedom to discuss what’s ever on my mind. Batman 1966, Rihanna, Wrestling, Bray Wyatt, my love for female rockers of the 80?s–whatever. Just share my feelings, opinions and thoughts, and if I put a smile on your face–-great–-it was all worth it.

I wanted to have the freedom to talk about my Christianity, the one thing that has brought me out of many deep, dark valleys throughout my lifetime. My internal, and external fight to glorify my Savior, Jesus Christ each and every day. And, it’s work, man, it’s the hardest job I’ve ever had in my life. I go in and out from the darkness to the light, like that poor little Carol Ann from Poltergeist, remember her? And, through this journey, I also wanted to share something with you that I’ve been battling since my 20s, and I know that many of you do as well–depression.

Depression has been a fixture in my life since I graduated college back in 1983. It seems like over night I went from “Roscoe”, the beloved fraternity brother and Vice President of Sigma Tau Gamma, to marriage, a co-op, a job that I hated, bills, anxiety, and every other BAD thing that went with responsibility. At the beginning, I thought I was going to lose my wife–-I was afraid that Amy was going to think that I was losing my mind. I wouldn’t go to a doctor, because I didn’t want to go on meds–-I knew that would make it worse. This nightmare went on with me for four years until my son Will was born. At that time I had to wake myself the F up, because I knew another human being was now dependant on me.

Unfortunately, even with the birth of Will–-the depression never went away. I can’t remember one day where I actually woke up and felt “good”–I just didn’t know what that felt like. I had two video stores go out of business when I was barely 30 thanks to Blockbuster. I became unemployed, I sold appliances to make ends meat. Then the big break with the WWE–-my problems were solved. That was until I found myself on the road every week, in a strange hotel room by myself, feeling totally alienated from my family, and the few friends I still had. You know the rest—WCW-–Bash at the Beach-–TNA—and the absolute scrutiny that goes with the professional wrestling business. As the years passed, the depression just always seemed to get worse, I never felt good, and just always had thoughts of dying. That is hard for me to type here–-but, it’s the truth. Then, when I walked away from TNA nearly 2 1/2 years ago–-it just hit rock bottom for me. There was just no place left to go in a business that I had worked in for 20 years. I prayed every night that God just allow me to see the next day, and it was only through his grace that I did. As I sit here typing this right now, right this minute–-I’m in the same exact place.”

WWE Battleground: Most Likely Outcomes for Intercontinental Champion

On Sunday July 20th, WWE will hold a 20 man over the top rope battle royal to crown a new Intercontinental Champion. Bad News Barrett was on track for the best run of his career until an injury forced him to vacate the title. Now, WWE’s entire mid card will compete and a new champion will emerge.

But who has the best chance of winning? What is the most likely outcome for the battle royal at WWE Battleground?

There are a number of jobbers we can immediately assume won’t win. Those jobbers include Diego, Sin Cara, Titus O’Neil, Zack Ryder, Heath Slater, R-Truth, Xavier Woods, Fandango, RybAxel and the Great Khali. Although they have a slight chance, it would be extremely surprising to see Rob Van Dam, Alberto Del Rio, Big E or Kofi Kingston become the new Intercontinental Champion.

Dolph Ziggler is an interesting choice who has been winning more often lately. However, those matches have been mainly against Fandango and the focus has been on Summer Rae and Layla. Sorry Ziggler, but chances are you won’t win either.

The remaining four superstars all have a legitimate chance at becoming the new Intercontinental Champion at Battleground and here is why.

    sheamusmiz

The Miz made his return from filming WWE Studios’ The Marine 4 on the June 30th edition of Raw. There has been a great deal of hype given to the Miz’s new multi-platform, Money Maker faced character since his return. Although at first Miz was booked as weak with the surprise return of Chris Jericho on the same night, the most must see WWE superstar of all time recently defeated United States Champion and fellow battle royal participant Sheamus on Raw. Having Miz win the Intercontinental Championship yet again would certainly align with his new character push, but there are others who could do more with the title.

Bo Dallas has been impressive since redebuting on the main roster. When Dallas first arrived on the main roster for the 2013 Royal Rumble, he didn’t have a character. He was a weird smiled guy with long hair. Dallas made huge strides in NXT in developing his unBOlieveable gimmick. After seeing it be so successful in NXT, I had concern over whether it would work as well on the main roster. Dallas has a ton of BOlievers and has a good chance of winning the Intercontinental title if WWE feels he is ready.
    WWE_2K14_Antonio_Cesaro
Someone who is definitely ready for a championship is the newest Paul Heyman guy in the Swiss Superman Cesaro. The King of Swing’s stock has been flying through the roof since he joined forces with Heyman one night after winning the inaugural Andre the Giant Memorial Battle Royal. However, other than winning meaningless mid card matches against the likes of Kofi Kingston and Rob Van Dam, Cesaro hasn’t reached any new heights. Winning the Intercontinental title would be another step in the right direction for Cesaro.

That leaves the current United States Champion Sheamus. The Celtic Warrior is a very intriguing pick since he already holds a mid card title. While Sheamus is not an up and coming star like Dallas or Cesaro, WWE may have been hinting at a possible unification happening at WWE Battleground. Michael Cole referenced the idea on Raw recently. If Sheamus does win the battle royal, he will unify the Intercontinental and United States titles. WWE fans have spent a great deal of time and effort complaining (as they normally do) about the terrible booking mid card titles have had over the last few years. There really is no need for two mid card titles.

    ME_094_Photo_20

If you think about it, WWE recently unified the two world titles. Shortly thereafter, WWE began the discussion on whether or not the United States and Intercontinental Championships would be unified as well.

While I think Dallas or Cesaro would benefit most from winning the Intercontinental Championship, Sheamus winning would benefit the entire WWE Universe.

Who do you think is the most likely winner of the battle royal at WWE Battleground to crown a new Intercontinental Champion? Please share your thoughts in the comment section below.

Kurt Angle Talks About Returning To WWE, CM Punk, His Recovery & More

Part 2 of Jim Ross’ Ross Report interview with wrestling legend Kurt Angle is now online at PodcastOne.com. This week, Angle spoke extensively about his desire to return to WWE.

Angle said he’s absolutely interested in a possible WWE return. He’s currently in a tough spot, because he wants job security and TNA has treated him very well so far. Due to his TNA contract, he’s unable to approach WWE about returning. He can’t speak to Vince, Stephanie or Triple H. If he waits out his contract and then approaches WWE, he runs the risk of them not He’s always said he wants to finish his career with WWE. At the same time, the past year has been a roller coaster ride for him.

He has a great relationship with Dixie Carter, who has always treated him right. However, there have been times over the past year he’s wanted out, even though things are getting better lately. He wants to help TNA, but he also wants to see what WWE has to say.

Jim Ross said he met the Carter family once and he’s never met nicer people than Bob and Janice Carter. Angle agreed they are wonderful, supportive people and said Bob and Janice are now a lot more hands-on with TNA.

JR asked Angle if WWE’s Wellness program and medical testing would be an issue for him. Angle said no, not at this point. A year ago, yes. He was on a lot of pain killers, Xanax and was abusing alcohol. He got himself in a lot of trouble and it was time to get clean. He’s been sober for almost 11 months and is much happier, clear minded and is now listening to his body. He’s heard rumors that “he can’t pass a physical” but that would be no problem at all. His neck is fine, he’ll bounce back from his recent knee surgery. He’ll be just fine and can pass any physical.

If he does go to WWE, Angle said it’s about proving himself. He believes Vince, Stephanie, and Triple H will want to see that he’s cleaned his life up. He left on “bittersweet” terms and was reckless during his last WWE run. He was taking painkillers and “other stuff.” At the time, he blamed Vince McMahon for not trusting him to be the face of WWE. Now that he’s clean and sober, he knows that he’s the one that messed up a real good thing. If he does go back, he’ll have to make amends with Vince so they can move forward.

Angle said he loves WWE’s strict drug testing, which he thinks is great for everybody. He’s part of WWE’s rehab program, goes to AA meetings several times a week and is staying true to his recovery.

JR added that if Angle commits himself to recovery the way that he did with wrestling, he’ll be just fine.

Angle admitted that he was a failure as a father and a husband when he was using. He didn’t care about anything except pills, alcohol and wrestling. After Angle’s multiple DUI arrests, JR feared that Angle would be the next guy to have a “bad ending.”

If he returns to WWE, there’s a lot of great talent Angle wants to work with. He didn’t watch for a few years and didn’t think they had a great roster, but now he sees that they do . If there’s one person in WWE he could work with, it would be Daniel Bryan. If CM Punk ever returns, he thinks they could have great matches as well. He named Roman Reigns, Cesaro, Rusev and Brock Lesnar as guys he’d also like to work with. He talked about always wanting to wrestle The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but realizes that ship has sailed. WWE has a lot of guys he can help out and teach. He now watches WWE & TNA television every week and still loves the business.

They both put over AJ Styles as a tremendous talent and JR said WWE missed the boat with him.

Angle was asked about Brock Lesnar ending The Undertaker’s streak. Angle was very surprised by the ending, but said Brock Lesnar was the right guy to do it.

JR asked Angle if he can relate to CM Punk leaving WWE. Angle said he has to respect Punk’s decision, but he shouldn’t burn that bridge. There’s going to come a time when CM Punk could be a part time guy like The Rock who wrestles for big paydays and Punk should consider that opportunity if it arises.

Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk/WWE, Sting Commercial, Reigns/Cena, Ambrose & More

The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:

On WWE’s depth issues: “WWE’s depth issues are easily identified when so many top, top stars are seen on the show in front of the live audience multiple times. We live in unique times as it relates to being not only a wrestling fan but a talent as well. Never in my recollection has the landscape been more conducive for someone to break though and soar to the top of a card than now. That speaks to the overall depth issues within the business in general. Secondly, it’s never been more challenging to be in the biz as there are simply too few places that one can work full time and earn a good living. It’s the old, double edge sword conundrum as in damn if you do and damn if you don’t.”

On the dynamic between John Cena and Roman Reigns on RAW: “I enjoyed the Cena-Reigns dynamic throughout the broadcast as both men walked a fine line but one can easily see that a personal issue could develop between the two quite easily although I somewhat doubt that it would be a long term one considering that WWE needs both men to be fan favorites. Nonetheless they have noticeable chemistry together which interests me.”

On Dean Ambrose: “Dean Ambrose took a fine, restaurant quality ass whipping early in the show. Heroes who don’t quit and show no fear while selling thoroughly usually get themselves over. Ambrose is.”

On CM Punk commercials during RAW: “The CM Punk promotional material for the WWE Network is a good way to create interest and sell subscriptions for the Network and I don’t think it means any thing more than that which is merely my speculation and not based on any ‘inside’ knowledge.”

On the Sting/WWE 2K15 commercial: “Great video done by 2K Sports to promote @Sting as a player on their upcoming, WWE video game. Sting will be available if one pre orders the game as I understand it. Does this mean that Sting will be wrestling in WWE? It’s not a lock whatsoever and I’d suggest it is a long shot but things can always change. I’d love to see Sting have a WrestleMania moment in his career but I’ll admit that I’m biased.

“Sting will be a guest on my podcast on July 29 of which we’ve already taped and it’s a great conversation.”
