Daniel Bryan Takes Down Criminal Robbing His Home

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan interrupted a burglary at his home on Thursday night, chased down one of the thieves and subdued him until police arrived.

According to Phoenix police,, the incident occurred when Bryan and his wife Brie were returning home to their home in Phoenix, Arizona. Upon pulling into their driveway, they saw their front door open and realized they were being robbed. Two men ran out of the house and Bryan was able to catch one of them, 22-year-old Cesar Sosa. They got into a struggle and Bryan was able to wrestle him down and keep him tied up until police arrived. The second suspect was not located.

Sosa was booked into Maricopa County Jail and charged with burglary.

Bryan and his wife Brie spoke about the incident during a press conference, with Bryan saying he jumped into action because he was worried about their dog, Josie, who was in the house. He also got emotional when he revealed that the burglars attempted to steal a bracelet his father gave to him.

Hulk Hogan Comments On Sting/WWE, Mick Foley Praises Dean Ambrose

– Mick Foley recently wrote the following on his official Facebook page about Dean Ambrose and Monday’s RAW:

“But for me, the show-stealer was the Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro match. My concern for Ambrose when The Shield split went down, was that as good as he was, he wasn’t exactly the most sympathetic character in the world. But he tells an amazing story in the ring with the his movements and his facial expressions – and has certainly touched a chord with the fans. It’s going to be interesting to see what the future holds in store for Ambrose.”

– Following their appearance at the San Diego Comic Con, Hulk Hogan tweeted the following about Sting and WWE:

  • VIDEO: The Rock On Starting A One Man Show, His Dream Match & More

During a recent Reddit A.M.A. chat, The Rock spoke about his plans to start a one-man show. The Rock said the following:

“Funny (not literally) you asked. One of our 7 Bucks Entertainment prod goals for 2015 is to start the development for a “Rock One Man Show” live. Comedy, singing (w/ my Willie guitar of course), stories and anecdotes, audience interaction and how to rock a fanny pack without looking too much like a buff lesbian.”

Speaking of The Rock, below is a new interview with him from The Buzzer.

  • Vince Russo Speaks On McMahon Turning Down His Ideas, Heyman/TNA & More

The following are highlights of a new WrestlingINC.com interview with Vince Russo:

On his vision for WCW: “The vision was to flip the roster to get the middle guys out of that middle slot and start rising them to the top to be built around. With this format, I went into WCW with a giant target on my back from the veterans. I still went ahead with the plan because it was the right thing to do. As much as these guys are going to kill me, bury me behind my back, try to get me out quicker than I came, I stuck to the plan because I knew it was the right thing to do. To this day, I don’t regret that because that’s what needed to be done at the time.”

On the reason Vince McMahon turned down his idea to bring WCW back in 2002: “Probably because it was my idea. The last person I should have been pitching was Eric Bishoff, but he was a phenomenal on-air talent. Anything personal between us wouldn’t have mattered. Bishoff deserved to be on TV. I literally laid out this plan and then obviously things didn’t work out. I left WWE and Eric was hired. I watched it unravel at home on TV and I was like ‘are you freaking kidding me?’ They had a goldmine and week after week they were butchering it. They killed a million dollar idea.”

On how close Paul Heyman was to signing with TNA: “I don’t know if he was close. I called Paul to bring him into TNA and we had a couple of conversations that were hours long. I was under the impression Paul wanted to come in and have things 100% his way, but that’s not how TNA works. I turned it over to Dixie [Carter] and was out of the loop. I didn’t care how I was going to be working with Paul or who had what title. I thought Paul Heyman could make TNA a better product and that’s why I made the original contact.”

On Bret Hart’s issues with him and if he likes him: “Deep down inside, I don’t know if he does. When I went to WCW, I wanted Bret Hart in a position he longed to be in. I approached him my first day there and we sat down for an hour and discussed the Owen [Hart] incident. We talked about it man-to-man and I thought everything was behind us. Six months before I left TNA, I had a phone conversation with Bret about bringing him to TNA. He was very excited about that idea and I spoke to him personally on the phone for an hour. Face-to-face or on the phone, there has never been an issue between me and Bret.

“I find it hard to believe Bret feels that way because he had the opportunity on more occasions than one to tell me — especially when I tried to bring him into TNA. There’s the perfect opportunity for Bret to say ‘Vince I’m not working for a scumbag.’ That’s not how the conversation went; it was a very positive one. I find it hard to believe at his core that he feels that way, but I also know bashing and burying Vince Russo to the internet wrestling community is the cool hip thing to do. Some people think that’s what gets them over. Just throw a Vince Russo barb in the wrestling community and you’re over. All these people that have these issues with me and do interviews, never have I been confronted to my face. That’s unfortunate. I worked as hard as I could in the business, was very respectful, and am a family man. To consistently have to deal with all the negative comments, it gets old after a while.”

  • Batista Speaks On CM Punk Returning To WWE, Roman Reigns’ Push & More

Batista recently spoke to Digital Spy as part of his promotional tour for the upcoming “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie. During their discussion, Batista offered his comments on a potential return to WWE for CM Punk.

“I know for a fact that he loves professional wrestling. I couldn’t see him taking a step down and wrestling for a lesser organization. Unless he spent some time in Japan, I just don’t see it. I think eventually he’ll come back. I think he belongs there. I think the fans really love him and miss him. I think he loves it and misses it just as much. I’m really not sure why he left. He’ll be back, I would think that he would be back. I think it would be kind of crazy if he didn’t go back.”

Batista also predicted that Roman Reigns will be the first member of The Shield to capture a major title, and said he expects WWE to “push him to the sky.”

  • Jim Ross Blog: His Official WWE Departure, Sting/WWE, MMA Announcing & More

The following are highlights from the latest Jim Ross blog:

On leaving WWE: “All my legal commitments to WWE ended Wednesday night at midnight which concluded a 21 year tenure with the company. Coming to WWE in 1993 was the best business decision I ever made even though I really loved living in Atlanta. Great city…great food…many friends…fun, sports town.”

On his future goals: “I hope to do more boxing broadcasting on TV, would love to try my hand at MMA play by play, and perhaps even dabble in football if the right opportunity arises. We are diligently working on a autobiography and will be hunkering down in Norman in the next few days to spend 4-5 straight days working on the project. These writing sessions will be multiple in number as we’re writing a book that I always envisioned and I will have final say on the edit.”

On Sting’s upcoming Ross Report appearance: “Next Tuesday night at 9 eastern time, our long awaited Sting interview will debut in what we expect to be a two parter. It’s an awesome conversation with a dear, old friend who I’ve known from day one of his career.”

On the Sting stuff from Comic Con: “Lots of Sting buzz out of the San Diego Comic Con these days but to the best of my knowledge he has NOT signed a wrestling contract with WWE but apparently has multiple, business arrangements on the marketing side of the business from various venders.”

“Those that think that it is a lock that Sting will actually wrestle in WWE might be disappointed at the end of the day and I hope that I am wrong on that one. I’m of the belief that Sting has earned his ‘WrestleMania Moment” and win, lose or draw I hope that happens for him and his fans. It’s a no brainer to me and hopefully the multitude of writers in WWE cannot come up with a viable idea that upper management will buy to facilitate this. It’s not exactly like WWE’s top tier talent base is red hot at the moment based on attendance, etc and adding Sting to the biggest show of the year in an ensemble sort of presentation seems to be logical and very marketable.”

“For those holding off for the Sting vs. Taker match, it feels as if that ship sailed when Taker became mysteriously 21-1 at WM30 in New Orleans. Plus, there is no guarantee that the Undertaker will be back in the ring at WM31 but for him to leave without an amazing, farewell promotion would be a terrible, missed opportunity. I guess my idea of Taker calling it a career in Cowboys Stadium before 100,000 fans might be in serious jeopardy.”

F4Wonline.com reports that Sting’s appearance today was set up by Mattel, not 2K Sports or WWE.

#WWETransformed Revealed: Cartoon WWE Superstar Makeovers

Well, that was disappointing. (That’s what she said)

After a great deal of speculation about the the #WWETransformed campaign that WWE launched on Wednesday, it turns out the hype was for a feature at the company’s website looking at cartoon version of various Superstars – with makeovers.

“… We began to wonder what it would look like if Superstars’ ensembles were re-imagined to match their larger-than-life characters. What if The Celtic Warrior was much more than Sheamus’ nickname? What if Dolph Ziggler dressed up as the girlfriend-stealing playboy he brags to be? What if John Cena didn’t just wear jorts?

Inspired by some of our favorite movies, video games and comics, we present to you “WWE Transformed,” where we gave nine Superstars (and two twin Divas) illustrated ring gear makeovers that explored these very fantasies.”

Update On John Cena Retiring Title On RAW, Honoring Ric Flair

When John Cena handed Ric Flair the World Heavyweight Championship belt on RAW, it was said to be a symbolic gesture of retirement for that particular title. Cena gave it to Flair specifically because the belt itself is most associated with Flair. Cena is expected to only carry the WWE Championship belt from this point, until the new championship belts are introduced.

As noted previously, WWE has ordered all new championship belts that will have the new company logo on them.

  • Backstage News On WWE’s Plans For Hulk Hogan At SummerSlam

It looks like Hulk Hogan will be used in some fashion at this year’s WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view. As noted in the past, Hogan is scheduled to appear on the August 11th “go-home” edition of RAW, as well as the August 16th live event the night before the pay-per-view in San Jose.

Apparently something will be happening on the 8/11 RAW show that will lead to Hogan’s involvement at SummerSlam.

Ric Flair will also be part of the 8/16 house show in San Jose, as both he and Hogan will be “co-hosting” the event.

  • Update On Ric Flair Being Bumped From SmackDown, Latest On His Status

Ric Flair was booked for both RAW and SmackDown last week, but ended up not being used on SmackDown in his old stomping-grounds of Fayetteville, nor brought back on this Monday’s RAW.

WWE creative reportedly has nothing for Flair at the moment, which is why he hasn’t returned as a regular character as he is scheduled to do.

As noted in the past, Flair has requested to work with Dolph Ziggler, but WWE doesn’t seem to like that idea. At one point he was set to work with The Miz, however those plans were nixed as well. WWE is continuing to work on different ideas for “The Nature Boy.”

  • Update On WWE Ordering All New Championships Belts

WWE has ordered new championship belts reflecting promotion for the WWE Network and the new company logo.

The logo that will be used on the new belts is the same one that was first introduced in December at the WrestleMania press conference in San Jose, California, and is the one that will be used for everything beginning in a couple of weeks.

The WWE Championship, Intercontinental, United States, Tag Team and Divas titles will all be updated with the new logo.

This is a major order for WWE, since the company has many versions of each title, including ones for television, photo shoots and house shows.

Reason WWE Allows Content On YouTube, WWE Network Strategies

Prior to the launch of the WWE Network, it was reported that WWE would be looking to get their content removed from YouTube, however to this day a considerable amount of it remains.

Apparently this is a move done by design, as WWE V.P. of Digital and Print recently told the Digital Sports Fan Engagement Conference that the company would not go after their content on YouTube as they feel it’s better to leave it easily accessible, despite it being illegal, as it gets fans hooked on the product and thus make them more likely to want to spend money for a product such as the WWE Network.

WWE will, however, go after specific content on YouTube. Generally more recent items, but they do allow a considerable amount to remain.

Sting was the tenth most searched for topic on the internet on July 14th. There was a TMZ report that claimed Sting had signed a promotional contract, but not a wrestling contract with WWE. Apparently TMZ mistakenly confused Sting’s deal with 2K Sports for the WWE 2K15 video game with an actual direct deal with WWE.

As things stand now, Sting has yet to officially sign with WWE, however they are still working on locking him in.

    John Cena The Nest

WWE World Heavyweight Champion John Cena is currently filming his scenes in the new Tina Fey-Amy Poehler comedy, “The Nest,” where he will be playing his first villain role in a movie. Deadline.com reports:

“Wrestling superstar John Cena is dropkicking his way into The Nest, Universal’s Tina Fey-Amy Poehler comedy about two sisters who throw one last party in their parents’ soon-to-be-sold house. Character details are under wraps but I hear the Cenation Leader is playing what could mark his first villain role after spending over a dozen years as the WWE’s All-American hero.”

The movie will document two sisters (Tina Fey and Amy Poehler) who attempt to throw one last party in their childhood home before their parents sell it.

Cena missed the July 21 edition of WWE RAW to film scenes for the movie and will miss at least one more episode of RAW heading into his title defense against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam on August 17th.
