Goldberg Talks About Wrestling For WWE Again, Chris Jericho & More

Bill Goldberg was recently interviewed by the Phoenix New Times to promote his PodcastOne.com podcast. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Why His Podcast Is Different From Other Podcasts:

“At the end of the day, man, the reason I did the podcast is because I went through my Rolodex and thought, “There has to be a way to take advantage of all the cool people that I know.” So, in the beginning, by not [featuring] wrestlers, I wouldn’t be able to gain that much traction as the other guys, but I’m not at all like the other guys. I’m different.”

“I’m not a wrestler. I am a football player who looked at wrestling as a business. I do not live it, I do not breathe it, I do not eat it and shit it like everybody else does. And I truly believe that there’s a lot more interesting content out there that I’m going to try turning these wrestling fans on to that’s cool. I’ve been leading a pretty cool life and have some really cool friends.”

Possibly Having Chris Jericho As A Guest:

“Absolutely. Why not? We’ll do a co-promoted podcast where it should be aired on both simultaneously. Yeah. No big deal. I’m 47 years old, man, I don’t hold grudges with people. If he’s got a problem with me, say it to my face. Other than that, shut up, you know?”

His Backstage Fight With Chris Jericho In WCW:

“Yeah, that’s how I feel too, man. And I very much appreciate him saying that. Until I talk to him face-to-face, which I haven’t done since the B.S. went down years ago, which…it was ridiculous. It was the furthest thing from a fight that I think I’ve ever seen. But he knows the truth and I know the truth, and the reality is we’re grown men, dude, we’ve got bigger and better things to do than [dwell] on a ridiculous little subject that people seem to bring up every couple minutes.”

Being Willing To Wrestle For WWE again:

“Uh…I think in general, although they’ve been extremely successful over the years. I don’t know, man, I haven’t talked to too many guys that see eye to eye with them, unless you’re in that inner circle, but not unlike any other business, you’re gonna have your opinions about it. [But] no, they don’t know how to do business with me, I mean, the reality is, I don’t think they want to do business with me. I think that’s the reality of it.

So I could care less, to be honest with you, but to answer that question, I just don’t think that there’ll be a chance for us to do anything. And I’ve said it before and I said it at [WrestleCon], the last conversation I had with Triple H, and I left it in their corner, was, “Hey man, I’m willing to put everything aside, I have an eight-year-old boy who’d love to see me wrestle. So if you guys want to make a lot of money and do some business, then let’s do it.”

AJ Styles Says He’s Already Earned More This Year Than He Would Have In TNA

Former TNA star AJ Styles appeared on Wrestling Observer Radio this week and revealed that he’s already made more money this year working the indy scene than he would have for the entire year of 2014, based on the final contract renewal offer he received.

He added that by the end of the year, he could make the same amount of money that he made in TNA in 2013, a deal that was more lucrative than TNA’s final offer to him this year. Styles made around $350,000 on his last TNA deal. The deal that he turned down would have paid him just over $200,000 and would have paid him based on how often he wrestled.

Another perk of being self employed and taking his own bookings is that independent promotions pay for his hotel rooms, travel expenses. He also receives most of the money generated from the sales of his merchandise.

TNA doesn’t cover road expenses and wrestlers only get a small percentage of merchandise money.

  • Bo Dallas On How He Created His Character, Differences In WWE & NXT, More

The following are highlights of a new Ring Rust Radio interview with Bo Dallas:

On the back story of creating his character: “There was no one moment that I could look at that says, ‘this is what happened.’ It was just a series of events. I got the opportunity to become NXT Champion down in the NXT developmental, and luckily I got 8 months as the champion and it just sort of developed. Things started happening and everything was clicking on all cylinders and working and it developed and morphed into its own monster. I just rolled with the punches, kept my eyes open and my ears sharp to everything that was coming in and took it and ran with it.”

On the differences between performing in WWE and NXT: “The way the developmental system is these days is different than it has ever been. They do so much to prepare us for making that jump from NXT to the big stage that there’s not many differences. NXT is its own brand and has become bigger than I think ever thought was possible. But if I can give any inspirational advice to anyone coming up, really look at what you do and know that what works, works. It doesn’t matter the size of the stage, if it works at a smaller stage, it will work at a bigger stage and stay true to what you are and Bo-lieve in yourself.”

On whether his brief stint on the main roster inspired him: “Yes, absolutely. I got the taste which lit a fire under me. In this industry, you have to evolve to stay relevant, what I wanted, I felt. So I had that eight months to know that that’s what I wanted and just worked as hard as I could, nonstop, to get where I needed to be, develop this character and develop who I am today. So yes, it absolutely lit a fire under me.”

On whether he watches WWE Network: “Oh yeah, constantly. I’m on the WWE Network all the time. If I have free time, if I wasn’t on the radio right now, I would be on the WWE Network. There’s tons. A lot of what I watch is Mr. Perfect. I am a diehard fan of Mr. Perfect and Curt Hennig and his work. If I could go back in time and be in the ring with him, I would do anything for it. But I watch a lot of Curt Hennig’s old matches.”

  • Davey Richards Talks Six-Sided Ring Returning To TNA, His WWE Tryout & More

The following are highlights of a new Under The Mat Radio interview with TNA star Davey Richards:

On the return of the six-sided ring: “Well it gives TNA their own personality and it’s unique to them. It takes a little bit to get used to…having two more sides and it can make things more confusing at the end of the day you still got to get the job done so I’m fine with it.”

On what his goal is right now in TNA: “Just me and Eddie (Edwards) making a mark as one of the greatest tag teams in TNA history. There’s the Hardy Boys who’s back together and Team 3D is back together…there’s always Beer Money who could get back together. We want to test ourselves with those guys and leave our mark in TNA.”

On his thoughts on his WWE tryout with Eddie Edwards: “We did a one week tryout for them and that was about it. It’s not somewhere where I longed to work for their travel schedule doesn’t work for me. I’m not moving down there and getting trained how to wrestle again I’ve already been trained and if I don’t’ have it now then I won’t have it.”

John Cena Transitioning From WWE To Hollywood?
