Kane Talks About Triple H’s Leadership, A Kane Movie & Sting

Kane recently spoke to AlternativeNation.net to promote WWE Studios’ See No Evil 2. Here are some highlights:

Triple H’s Leadership in WWE:

“He’s done a tremendous job with the Performance Center in Orlando, and with NXT. They have a great product, the guys that are coming out of there are really great. I was just thinking about that the other day, you could always tell there was something special about him. Certainly he knows the wrestling business like no one else, he’s got a fabulous mind. When you’re talking about people I’ve worked with who have influenced me as far as character development, he’s one of them. I don’t know which is more surprising, the fact that he’s in the role that he’s in, or that I’m still here in WWE 20 years later.”

A Kane origins film:

“That actually would be quite interesting, wouldn’t it? Because the thing that made Kane so unique, and such a great character in WWE, is that he does have a backstory that’s unique to him. He’s a character within sort of the WWE Universe, and he’s a clearly defined character. So yeah, that would be really cool, because you could get into the whole history of what happened with Kane and The Undertaker as kids, so that would be interesting.”

Possibly wrestling Sting:

“That would be a dream come true [to wrestle Sting], because Sting is one of the guy who I looked up to when I was a youngster. The dude was the face of WCW, and before that the NWA, one of the most popular wrestlers in history. That would be pretty awesome, and I think that a Sting vs. Undertaker story would be awesome as well, because you would see the faces of two different companies from the same generation collide.”

Lanny Poffo Talks About WWE’s Upcoming Macho Man DVD

Lanny Poffo, brother of the late “Macho Man” Randy Savage, recently spoke to the Another Wrestling Podcast about WWE’s upcoming Macho Man DVD set. Here are some highlights:

WWE’s Macho Man Documentary DVD:

Lanny Poffo: My mother didn’t want to be in it, and I talked her into it, and she was phenomenal. You know she’s going to be 88 years old in January. She’s so…I don’t want to get negative, she’s still harboring the resentment that nobody offered her condolences from the WWE. And I said, “Mom look at it this way, this is not about the Macho Man, it’s about the Macho Fan. And they’re the ones who gave him his lifestyle. And they’re the ones that made him go on top of the mountain, and he lived there for many, many years, and he had a great life, and it’s all because of the Macho Fan.”

How He Was Involved In The Documentary:

Poffo: About a month ago I texted [producer Kieran Bent] and said how are you doing with the project and is there any way I can get an advanced copy or do I have to wait until November 18th? So he says we got a rough cut I’ll send it to you. And you know, they were asking me all these questions, and I was just treating it like a shoot interview, and I had no idea that they would use any of that. They used all of it!

They used all the controversial things, and there were a few things that I didn’t like, and there were a few things that I thought were phenomenal, but all in all it is a must have! The two people I called up on the phone to thank were Bret the Hitman Hart and Diamond Dallas Page because their remarks were beautiful… And you know who was great, I don’t know where they found it, I never seen it before, but they had highlights of an interview they did with [Randy] before, that they did with him in 1993 or 1994 where he was at the fork in the road of his career, and it was like he was narrating his own DVD.

Chris Jericho Predicts Bray Wyatt’s Future, Talks Chris Benoit/WWE HOF & More

The following are highlights of a recent Chris Jericho “Ask Me Anything (A.M.A.)” chat on Reddit:

Do you feel like WWE dropped the ball on Bray Wyatt? I thought he looked like a complete joke in his feud with Cena so I appreciated that you took him more seriously. Bray will be a world champion within a year

Thoughts on the rapid rise of Dean Ambrose? Much deserved

What happened to Lights Go Out being in WWE 2K15? It’s not listed in the official press release! Tell me about it. I’m pissed

You don’t mention much in your book about your 2010 departure from the WWE. How did you put that storyline together? Were there plans for you to return and feud with Orton? the plan was for me to return and feud with Orton for Wrestlemania. I chose to do DANCING WITH STARS instead

Do you think Benoit should be in hall of fame? Never

Do you think the wrestling business is better off now (PG, concussion awareness, no blood, etc) or during the peak Monday Night War era (better creatively, more jobs with three companies, worse medical checks in place, etc)? Better now.

Have you ever sneezed/seen someone else sneeze in front of Vince? What was his reaction? He hates sneezing!

Backstage News On WWE Protecting Cena & Orton, News On HIAC Main Events

WWE officials were reportedly very careful not to portray the John Cena vs. Randy Orton match at the upcoming Hell In A Cell pay-per-view as the “loser’s match.”

Announcers on Monday’s RAW were apparently told never to say the “loser” of the Cena vs. Dean Ambrose contract on a pole match would be facing Orton. Orton also kept referring to his match as the “main event.”

While it’s possible that Ambrose vs. Seth Rollins goes on last at the pay-per-view, it’s said that both Hell In A Cell matches will be promoted equally.

Regarding Cena vs. Orton, this will be the ninth time that the two have competed in a singles match on a WWE pay-per-view. Each man has won three of their meeting, while each also picked up a win by disqualification.

  • TNA Negotiating With Someone That Would Reportedly “Shock People”

TNA President Dixie Carter has apparently told several people to expect a “major announcement” in the near future. While some may believe that the announcement will be a new television deal for the company, that may not be the case.

There has been some claims that TNA has been negotiating with a talent that would reportedly “shock people.” It’s said that if it comes to fruition, the new signing would create a buzz around TNA, however no one seems to know who the talent is.

We can confirm that the person is not CM Punk or Mick Foley.

On a related note, it’s said that the WWE tag-team Los Matadores (Diego and Fernando) were given their names after someone in the creative team discovered that Christopher Columbus had two sons named Diego and Fernando.

  • Gail Kim Shares Her Opinion On WWE Divas, Talks Dixie Going Through A Table & More

The following are highlights of a new v2 Wrestling Podcast interview with TNA Knockout Gail Kim:

On whether she was comfortable seeing Dixie Carter go through a table: “Oh my God, yes, I felt very comfortable with it. I was so excited. Because, you know, if you wrestle this long, you’ve seen it all – not that you’ve seen it all – but it’s hard to maybe get surprised by something. And that was the first thing in a long time where I was saying, ‘Oh my God, I can’t believe this is happening.’ I think the fans were excited, I think we were all excited. I thought it was a great thing that happened.”

On whether the Knockouts belong in the main event: “I definitely think so. I think it shows that Impact Wrestling has confidence in their women, and I think that they should because we are just as passionate and we can deliver when the pressure is on. I can’t speak for the fans and I’ve only heard positive reactions in terms of us main eventing the show, but I think we have something different to offer that the other promotion doesn’t offer, and that’s a strong women’s division. I think we have all taken the ball and ran with it.”

On the WWE Divas: “I don’t get to watch a lot of wrestling because I’m on the road all the time, but I still have friends there. Alicia Fox has always been a really good friend of mine from the day that we started together there, and we kind of catch up every once in a while and I hear what’s going on in that world. To me, I don’t think they’ll ever give the girls the main event. I mean, they have in the past, but I just feel that it hasn’t happened as consistently for years with the way that women’s wrestling is portrayed there. Hey, I want to be wrong, but all I can do is really concentrate on my job and where our women’s division is going. I just want to make this a success and I want to give the fans an opportunity to see the girls on that platform, and I think it’s a great alternative.”

On possibly being inducted into the TNA Hall of Fame: “I don’t think about those things, I always think about the now. I’m very honored that people even bring up my name. Without Impact Wrestling I wouldn’t have been able to create all those moments, so I just thank them that they gave me the platform to do what I do best. I hope [to be inducted] in the future and we’ll just come to that when the moment happens, if it happens.”

On the audition process for British Bootcamp 2: “We were there in terms of the first process. The first round is ‘show your personality’ – we kind of get to know each contestant and see what they’ve got. If you can entertain us and show us something, whether it’s presence or charisma, then you can move on to the next round and show us what you have in the ring. Sometimes we would ask them to show us a little bit of physicality in the ring. Certain people are known for their wrestling, so we wanted them to show us a little bit of their strengths. I think we picked the right ones; everybody can see on October 19th when the show premieres. I’ve been told that we picked the right ones, so we’ll just let the viewers decide.”

  • Justin Roberts Issues Lengthy Statement Regarding His WWE Release

Former WWE ring announcer Justin Roberts, who was released from the company this past Monday, posted the following statement on Instagram regarding his release:

“It might sound cliche, but I am truly overwhelmed & humbled by the messages I’ve received. As a kid who grew up loving & living for professional wrestling, I was able to chase, catch & live an impossible dream. I was a part of events I couldn’t fathom with the heroes I idolized from both WWF & various childhood favorite television shows (Hello Betty White). For a guy in a supporting ambience role–usually unnamed & unseen–I am blown away by the amount of people who apparently not only noticed, but also enjoyed my work.

Announcing was my dream, until I realized the absolute best part was using my position to help others. It brought me so much joy to bring a smile to a fellow fan’s face. The Superstars I’ve announced & traveled with over the past 12 years are not only extremely talented to work year round and on the fly, but they are also the most unselfish people I’ve ever met. I couldn’t help others without their support. Not one Superstar or Diva ever once hesitated when I asked them to meet a fan..or autograph..or call..or do whatever was needed.

After reading through all of your messages, I just want to say this: Please do not be angry & Please do not be sad. I lived my dream! I’m glad that maybe now someone else will have a spot to live theirs. Many thanks to everyone I have worked with in WWE. Sue, the company gem & my guardian angel. The producers who have taught me so much and constantly let me pick their brains. The referees (They make it look easy. NOT an easy job). Security. Props. Audio. Lighting. PR. Cameras. Travel. TR. Catering. Production. PA’s.

My eyes and ears at the bell-Mark Yeaton. Everyone I have met along the way. Everyone who has come into my life because of this job & to those who I have never had the opportunity to meet, but have enjoyed my work. I appreciate & am grateful for everyone’s support. To Vince McMahon, Kevin Dunn & The Authority who gave me this incredible opportunity, I’ve got two words for ya: Thank You. The journey has been incredible & almost unbelievable. This is the opportunity I’ve been waiting for to pen the final chapter of my memoirs.”

  • Kharma Says Window To Return To WWE Is Getting Shorter, Talks Divas Title & More

The following are highlights of a new VOC Nation interview with Kharma:

On her introduction on the show as Kharma: “Formerly known as Kharma… [laughs] don’t want anyone at the office giving you a call. [laughs]” If she had still been signed to WWE, would she have accepted a role on Total Divas: “Oh yeah. I totally would have. However, I think- like you [the host, Nani] said- I’m very honest. Sometimes, I’m honest at a fault where I have to act good and edit myself. and I usually don’t because I just find that you feel better when you just live in the moment and be true to yourself. and I don’t know if they could handle me because I’m like the… for real. What’s the name… Teresa Giudice flipping tables? She ain’t got nothing on what goes on in my everyday life ’cause, you know, I go from 0 to 60 in a second if it’s warranted. If it’s warranted and it’s on… where you put on that green light where you cross the line, I’m going to put you in the place. I will turn out the whole building. People usually read about, you know, like, you guys have read a few things that I did in my past, that I’m not proud of. [laughs] But it was warranted. We all know that some people had things coming. It’s bad. [laughs] I like reality but I think, lately, reality has been not so real and I’m real and I wouldn’t do things… it would have to be for real. Real issues ’cause there’s things in issues that people need to talk about. They [viewers] would relate to them.”

On whether she regrets not being a WWE Diva’s Champion while she was with the WWE: “I don’t know if ‘regret’ is the right word. I’m such a grateful person… and I think if I wasn’t such a grateful person, I would still be there. I was so grateful just to had just been there that that may have been part of the problem. I was just grateful to go through Gorilla for my very first debut and that was fine for me. That was all I asked for. I turned to my fiance and said [mocking herself], ‘All I want to do is walk down the ramp. All I want to do is walk down the Gorilla at WWE, my life is complete.’ and that’s kind of all I did [laughs]. So be careful what you ask for because you might just get it. I don’t know. ‘Regret’ is a strong word but I’m pretty confident that, had I had a longer run, I would have had that belt across my shoulder. I’m extremely confident that would’ve happened.”

On the WWE Divas’ Championship Belt: “The butterfly belt? I’ve never told anyone this but I actually already have a belt drafted up of what my belt would look like if I were ever WWE [Divas] Champion. It’s badass. I do not care for the butterfly title and it would not go with my persona and I would insist that I have my own damn belt. I would totally push the design that I have it in my head and the vision that I have in my head because I think it would sell like hotcakes in stores. What did you say to do with it? Break it over my knee? I’m throwing it in a fire. [laughs] I’m melting it down. I would seriously melt it down and use the parts for my new belt.”

On what and/or who inspired her to be a wrestler: “So many things. Just wrestling, in general. Trish Stratus is a big final influence. Her performance, and I just watched her and her progress in the ring, made me believe I could go in there and do it, as well. So, watching her, made me go ‘Ok. I’m actually going to do something. I’m in my 20s, have a lucrative career in business. I could take my 20s and gamble with a few of these years… a few of my young years and see what I could do in my Dream Chase. I’m going to take my 20s and dream-chase with them’ and why not? That’s what your 20s are for. It was like a joke that went way too far that just kept going and going and eventually, it evolved into a really nice career. She [Trish Stratus] learned her craft. I was a big fan in the 80s, watching every Saturday with my brother, who used to torture me in the living room every Saturday morning with the Camel Clutch, which is why I incorporate it in to my repertoire sometimes. I was a big fan of the ‘Attitude Era’, of course. ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin… Everybody was watching WCW and I was watching WWE, WWF at the time, fanatically. That’s all I would watch. I would watch it for ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin, and then the Rock, and then Mick Foley. Then, next thing you know, McMahon bought WCW and it was just awesome. But it was Trish and watching her because she wasn’t that good at first. [laughs] It was kind of cringe-worthy but she got SO good, so fast… and you could just see it in each week and it was extremely inspirational.”

Does she feel that WWE not having competition (like WCW) is an issue in today’s day and age: “I disagree. I think they have a big bar to raise to. They may have the corner in wrestling. As far as entertainment, there’s so many outlets of entertainment available today. They have a lot of competition. I mean, Youtube, itself, is competition. People carry their TVs in their pockets nowadays. Gone were the days where you had 12 channels and wrestling was featured on one of them. So, wrestling has a lot of competition nowadays to grab the attention of the viewers and the youth and to maintain the fanbase… they haven’t gotten lazy just because they have wrestling in their pockets. They still do a lot of work to keep their viewers.”

On the most satisfying moment or experience in career, thus far: “I can’t answer your question. [laughs] It’s hard to measure them because… each moment, each part of my life meant something different. You’re about to make me cry and don’t you dare [laughs]. My TNA debut… that was extremely important because I gained a lot of fame in Japan but I came home and, y’know, I wasn’t famous in America. So, debuting on TNA on American television while my mom was still alive, because she died extremely shortly after… like, barely a month after I got the belt there after I debuted. I debuted in October and she died in February so she was able to see because they smuggled her out of the hospital. She was able to see my American television debut. That was extremely important to me. Had she still lived, then I would say the Royal Rumble, of course. [laughs] Awesome experience. I mean, come on. [Nani mentions that Kharma was 1 of the only 3 females to ever enter the Royal Rumble] One of three and the first black female. I always have to say that, because, you know. [laughs] So in a few years when they do African-American history, they better put my picture up there [laughs], ‘Kharma, first African American female to participate in the Royal Rumble.'”

On if she has plans on making a return to WWE: “I think the window on that possibility is getting shorter and shorter as the months and years go by. I do have an injury that I’ve been working again… two bulging discs. I am due to get surgery real soon and shave some of that herniation off. We’ll see after that. After that, then it’s very very possible because I’ve been very transparent that WWE said, ‘Get healthy… come back… doors open’.”

On her in-character threat to The Bella Twins during her last appearance on Raw: “It’s awesome that everyone remembers that [how she threatened the Bellas during her last speech on RAW]. It’s always brought up to me. I would love to go back and give them their come-up-in [laughs], even though they’re face right now. But it’s not up to me, it’s actually up to you and your viewers and listeners and what you guys do. People keep asking me when am I coming back. I don’t have an answer for you. I’d be there tomorrow if I could. There are certain things, like my injury I need to take care of that. There were other things, emotional issues that needed to be dealt with. I needed some time off. I needed to be released and to address some personal issues. While one of the personal issues have been addressed, there’s still the lingering physical issue and that’s the only loose end to tie up.”

On what the next chapter of her career is: “I’m glad you asked that. Today, I launched a Kickstarter and your listeners can look it up by going to my Twitter page, @Kharma. It’s a website I’m raising money for, which tracks good deeds. If you were to do a good deed for someone and write down or stamp and you put the stamp on there, they’ll enter your serial number and say, ‘Hey, this person bought me a cup of coffee.’ You’d be able to see how far your good deed goes through my website. I hope someone buys a cup of coffee or gives someone an umbrella who needs it in the rain that turns in to a big tip for a waitress that turns into a great present for Toys For Tots, etcetera, etcetera. So I’m encouraging everyone to do good deeds and help me build the site so we can make this world a little less crappier.”

On where you can find her on social media and MySpace: “The Kia Stevens Project on Facebook. I have a Myspace page, even though no one is on Myspace anymore. I went on there the other night just for giggles and it was so hilarious. Totally different layout. I was like, ‘Hello! Hello! Is anyone here?’ [laughs] I think I’m going to do Myspace Mondays and try to get everyone to come back to Myspace just to kick it for every Monday. See what happens. I’m going to start a Youtube page where we’ll actually be doing good deeds that me and my team think of that people send in and that will be available through the Kia Stevens project on Facebook and my Twitter page, @Kharma. I want to be a good doer for the world. I ask myself, ‘What would I be if I wasn’t a wrestler?’ Just do good. That’s it. I want to be the ‘Johnny Appleseed of Good Deeds.’ You could find me at Shine Wrestling a lot. I will be at WrestleCade, I have a match with Lei’D Tapa. It will be epic. My fiance hates the word epic but it’s going to be epic!”

On the best advice that her wrestling trainers had given her: “When you don’t know what to do, punch them in the face.”

  • Mick Foley Says He Finally “Gets” Rusev, Says RAW Advocated Bullying

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently posted the following blog on his official Facebook page:

    USA, USA?

Maybe I’ve been too rough on Rusev. Not that I’ve ever said or written anything about him. But in my mind, I think he’s always going to suffer by comparison to The Iron Shiek – a classic anti-American heel who thrived on crowd heat, and was part of an all-time classic brawl with Sgt Slaughter in MSG that had a young Mick Foley on his feet, chanting USA, USA.

But last night, I think I finally “got” Rusev. He showed himself to be a very capable, believable big man – going head to head with Big Show in a hard-hitting, entertaining match. But I sure was bamboozled by the ending. Having Marc Henry hit the ring for the DQ and team up with Show to leave Rusev laying seemed odd and anti-climactic. It also seemed to be decidedly pro bullying, with two larger men ganging up on one smaller man.

I’ll be watching to see if this goes somewhere. Certainly, last night’s scenario lends itself to potential conflict between Show and Henry – and also leaves the door open for a different American hero to conquer the foreign menace…even though I still think Jack Swagger is the right man for the task.

Let me know what you think.

The domain was originally purchased and used to link to third-party websites, with the owner offering to sell it to WWE for $50,000.

WWE cited trademark registrations in a court filing and the court ruled in their favor, giving them control of the domain.

  • Damien Sandow: Deserving of a Push

Every Hollywood star needs a stunt double at some point (unless your name is The Rock, apparently). But what happens when the stunt double becomes more popular than the main attraction? This is could be the case with the WWE’s Hollywood A-lister, The Miz, and his stunt double, Damien Mizdow.

It seemed like the WWE had big plans last year for Damien Sandow. He had just recently won the Money in the Bank briefcase, was featured prominently on most of the company’s programs, and ultimately represented the future of the company.

Sandow has shined since adopting his new Damien "Mizdow" gimmick.

Sandow has shined since adopting his new Damien “Mizdow” gimmick.

However, in a move that was nothing more than a cheap attempt to increase ratings, Sandow was forced to unsuccessfully cash in his briefcase last fall against John Cena. Since that night, Sandow has been relegated to comedic duty, where he was squashed nearly every night while putting up with awful gimmicks.

However, despite the awfulness of the gimmicks, Sandow made the most of it and was actually entertaining, much like he has done in his current role with The Miz.

In fact, it’s easy to see that Sandow is now more over than The Miz, evidenced this week on Raw, where the crowd was chanting, “We want Sandow” during The Miz’s contest. As most fans have already figured out, Damien Sandow is too entertaining to be stuck as a midcarder’s sidekick, and he is without a doubt deserving of a push.

The fans have really been eating up Sandow’s shtick of imitating the action going on in the ring, often leading to the former Intellectual Savior of the Masses lying on the floor, seemingly applying a headlock to a ghost.

Steve Austin Says He Has No Desire To Wrestle Again, RAW Viewership

    – Monday’s episode of WWE RAW drew 3.75 million viewers, down slightly from the previous week’s 3.80 million. It was the lowest viewership for RAW since November of last year (excluding Memorial Day).

    Here’s the hourly breakdown:

    • Hour 1: 3.83 million viewers
    • Hour 2 3.76 million viewers
    • Hour 3 3.66 million viewers

    – On the latest Steve Austin Show podcast at PodcastOne.com, WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin once again clarified his future in pro wrestling. Austin said despite recent reports that he was gearing up for a “comeback” (actually a comeback to Gold’s Gym), he has no desire to take bumps again and no time in his busy schedule to train for one more match.

He said that he has a project that he can’t talk about in February, so the chances of him returning at WrestleMania 31 are slim to none. Despite all that, he did mention that if he did ever return, there’s doubt in his mind that he’d be able to whoop Brock Lesnar’s ass.

    – Seth Rollins defeated Dolph Ziggler with a Curb Stomp in a non-title match. Dean Ambrose came out to a big pop after the match. – Nikki Bella and Brie Bella shot some footage backstage at RAW in Atlanta on Monday night for future WWE.com material that will hype up their stipulation match at the upcoming WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view.

Update On Hulk Hogan At Next Week’s RAW, Flair/Roberts Notes
