DDP, Jim Ross, Lilian Garcia Give In-Depth Survivor Series Predictions & Analysis

The sports section of the new AlternativeNation.net website has a feature on tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, with Jim Ross, Diamond Dallas Page and Lilian Garcia giving their predictions and thoughts on tonight’s big show.

Below are some highlights from the piece.

DDP: “You know, hearing about Sting potentially appearing at the pay-per-view tomorrow/tonight, I think that he is going to be a God there. I think Sting is going to be really well respected; everyone there grew up watching him. Sting is 55 years old, the reason you don’t really play that in is because he covers his body and stays in shape. He’s in really good shape and he paints his face. I mean, KISS is going out there and playing into their sixties and young kids are going: “Ah, I love this!” No one did it better then Sting, nobody and knowing that he could of held out and been worth so much more? I wish I could of done that! (laughs).”

Jim Ross: “Well It’s basically a one match pay-per-view and they really waited until the last week to give more information and add to the intrigue. Especially on Monday when they added new members to Team Cena who were somewhat unusual. I’ll say that it’s a one match pay-per-view or a two match pay-per-view if you count Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt.”

“By the way, I’m all for those guys, I like the both of them, they were both down in developmental when I was still with the company and I was working down there so I have a special place for both of those guys and I hope they do well. However, the match, in all honesty, is a one match show. It’s the elimination tag with Team Cena against Team Authority and you know the stipulation, if Team Authority loses, they’re no longer in power, and I think the stipulation they’re going to add is if Cena’s team loses then they’re all fired so it’s one of those real straight forward stipulations and you hope it’s going to be a good show.”

Lilian Garcia: “I am really enjoying the build up to the Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt feud. You have two extremely talented superstars and I think they’re gonna give it their all. It’s exciting too because you get to see it for free on the WWE Network. I also can’t wait for the Team Cena/Team Authority match. It’s crazy how it’s already changed, Sheamus got hurt, so there is so many surprises that have happened already that it’s making me go: “I can only imagine what’s going to happen!”

Video: Bully Ray Talks Potential WWE Return, Wrestling Lesnar & Cena

Bully Ray, who is currently a free agent, recently spoke with legendary wrestling journalist Bill Apter last weekend about his future in the business. Bully said he and Devon are currently working the independent scene, something they haven’t done in almost 20 years. They’re open to working in Japan or any of the larger wrestling promotions out there.

When asked about a potential return to WWE, Bully Ray said he listens to the fans when they say he could have a successful singles run with the company.

When asked who he’d want to work with in WWE, Bully said that’s up to the fans. Apter mentioned Brock Lesnar. Bully said that he wrestled Brock when Brock first started in WWE and was his first singles opponent at the live events and on TV. He seemed open to working with Lesnar, as well as John Cena.

WWE Survivor Series 2014 Preview and Predictions

Survivor Series is mere hours away at this point. This baby is totally free, so anyone paying for this pay-per-view is doing it all wrong. In total, there are five matches on the main card, including a traditional Survivor Series tag team main event. Without further ado, here are my predictions for tonight’s Survivor Series pay-per-view.

Fandango (with Rosa Mendes) vs. TBA

    20141117_EP_LIGHT_SS_kickoff_home-logos

Although Fandango’s opponent has yet to be announced, I’d put my money on Adam Rose serving as the punching bag. The match will likely be used to further tension between Adam Rose and the Bunny, while also allowing Fandango to pick up a victory in his return to action.

    Winner: Fandango by pinfall

Alicia Fox, Emma, Naomi, and Natalya vs. Paige, Cameron, Layla, and Summer Rae (Divas Elimination Match)

Screen shot 2014-11-23 at 11.50.07 AM

This will be similar to last year’s Divas elimination match in that it will be total waste of ten minutes (and if we’re really lucky, we might get to see it again on Raw tomorrow!). This could go in many directions, but my guess is that Paige’s team wins after last eliminating Natalya.

Winners: Paige, Cameron, Layla, and Summer Rae by pinfall

Latest Update On Surprises Planned For Survivor Series

As we’ve been reporting over the weekend, fans tuning in to tonight’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view can expect a few big surprises. Both Sting and Randy Orton are in St. Louis for the show and are rumored to be making appearances on the show.

There’s also been some buzz that a third big name will be at Survivor Series. Roman Reigns, who was in Reno, Nevada over the weekend for the Wizard World convention, is flying into St. Louis and will be backstage at Survivor Series. It’s unknown whether Reigns will appear on camera, but he’s advertised for next month’s TLC pay-per-view (and multiple live events in December) and he’s either ready to return or getting very close.

Chris Jericho, who performed with Fozzy in Minnesota last night, went into full “Jeri-troll” mode on Twitter, teasing fans that he could be the third rumored surprise for Survivor Series:

It’s going to be a big night for WWE and wrestling fans everywhere. Join us here tonight for Live Coverage of WWE Survivor Series and breaking news updates.

If Team Authority loses, The Authority is no longer in power. If Team Cena loses, everyone on the team except for Cena will be fired.

    WWE Divas Title Match
    Nikki Bella vs. AJ Lee

    WWE Tag Team title Match
The Usos vs. Damien Sandow and The Miz vs. Los Matadores vs. Stardust and Goldust

Backstage Update On Two Huge Surprise Returns At Survivor Series

There are reports floating around the internet today that claim Randy Orton has been spotted at a restaurant in St. Louis, the site of Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view, doing basically nothing to keep his presence hidden from the public.

It was reported earlier that Orton took a 9am flight out of Albuquerque, New Mexico, where he is filming a WWE Studios movie, to DFW Airport, connecting to St. Louis.

The fact that “The Viper” is in St. Louis doesn’t necessarily guarantee that he will be on the Survivor Series show, as he lives there and was reportedly in town visiting his father. However, is definitely in town right now.

The belief from another one of the other sources is that Sting will be at Survivor Series on Sunday, but no one has yet to be able to officially confirm that to us. The initial reports that surfaced online claimed that Sting at Survivor Series is a definite, which would make sense timing wise for a number of reasons.

Jim Ross Blog: Sting At Survivor Series?, Sunday’s PPV Main Event Outcome, Lesnar/UFC

The following are highlights of the latest blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Sting possibly appearing at Survivor Series: “My Twitter timeline lit up Friday night with the conveniently, timed info/rumor that Sting would make a ‘surprise’ appearance at Sunday’s WWE Survivor Series. I have no idea it that’s true or not and I’d have preferred if the info, true or not, would not have leaked out. I’m not a major fan of the “Jardine’s” aka spoilers. I’m a Sting fan from back in the day and believe that if his first and perhaps only match in WWE is at WrestleMania 31. The man has earned a WrestleMania Moment without question.”

On his prediction for the Survivor Series main event outcome: “If forced to make a prediction, I’d go with Team Cena winning the Survivor Series main event Sunday in St. Louis which provides WWE the opportunity to truly set the reset button and create some new scenarios that are due with the build to WM31 beginning to commence. If so, Im curious to see how HHH and Steph are repositioned as WWE needs star power and they provide that more than many of the talents.”

On rumors of a Brock Lesnar return to UFC: “My thoughts on the possibility of Brock Lesnar returning to the UFC have seemingly resonated among some. Lesnar is a true jock….not an entertainer….and in the UFC he can be involved in a main steam sport of which he covets while still making big money for working few times a year. I think the amazingly gifted athlete longs for the competition and to see what’s left in the tank after his battles with diverticulitis. Perhaps with the additional TV dates that Lesnar has agreed to is for him to lose the WWE Title on Monday Night RAW where the most fans would see it. Who knows?”

Backstage News Regarding When & How Negotiations Fell Apart Between TNA & Spike TV

It is said that the negotiations between Spike TV and TNA ended around two or three weeks ago. The two sides were in talks for TNA to sign a “lesser deal” that would see TNA get paid a smaller rights fee.

It’s also said that despite the fact that TNA failed to hit the two million viewer mark for Impact Wrestling that was agreed upon during their original contract signed back in 2010, Spike TV still had interest in maintaining the relationship.

  • Sheamus Says There Should Be A Total Divas Type Show For The WWE Superstars

During a recent interview with BANG Showbiz, WWE Superstar Sheamus, once asked about the popularity of the Total Divas reality show, said he he feels there should be a similar show for the WWE Superstars.

Below is an excerpt from the interview:

“I think there should be a new reality show for the guys, I think it would be interesting. It should definitely happen now we have the WWE Network. The bigger the Network grows the more content they are going to need and a reality show would definitely take off, especially if it had all the behind-the-scenes stuff.

Fans want to know more and more about what happens away from the ring, and they want to know about the Superstars as people and what they are all about. The fans are hungry for that knowledge. If it happened, I believe it would be a very successful show.”

  • Kane On WWE’s Up-And-Coming Talent, Possibility Of His Mask Returning & More

The following are highlights of a new Telegraph interview with Kane:

On WWE’s up and coming talent: “I think the upcoming talent is great. For awhile I was very worried about the future of WWE because I worried about where the stars would come from. But WWE has done a fabulous job in partnering with Full Sail University, for WWE’s training facility. Some of the guys are second and third generations, but the thing about WWE’s training, is they learn our system before going on the roster, it’s more seamless. WWE’s future is bright.”

On working with The Soska Twins on See No Evil 2: “It was really great; they are rising stars in the horror genre. What’s cool about ‘See No Evil 2’ is the way it’s shot. It’s not a typical horror movie, it’s ‘art-house horror,’ very cool.”

On possibly bringing his mask back: “At some point, we will see that again. In WWE never say never, but certainly I like what I’m doing now — Kane is Kane.”

  • APMA Founder On CM Punk Becoming Part Of The Crew, All The Offers People Make To Him

The following are highlights of a new Journey Of A Front Man interview with CM Punk:

On how CM Punk became part of the AP Music Awards: “How CM Punk became a part of the APMAs: Well I think it’s pretty obvious throughout my career that I am a huge wrestling dork and any opportunity I ever could have to involve wrestlers in any project I’m working on, I’ll take advantage of it. I met Phil in 2008 when we did the first Golden Gods Awards. I reached out to the WWE to involve some of the talent. This is a really funny story, I was at an AC/DC concert and I had really good seats through work, but the whole row behind me was empty. Halfway through the show, I was wondering who was not showing up to an AC/DC concert at the Garden? And all of a sudden, this security guard came down and was like, “Alright, the row is clear. Bring ‘em in.” And it was Vince McMahon, Shane McMahon, John Cena, John Laurinaitis, Bruce Pritchard, a couple other wrestlers and all these hot chicks. I was like, “What the hell’s going on here?” I turned around and Vince McMahon was right behind me and I was like, “Oh, Vince McMahon, I can’t believe I have a better seat than you. Come on, take my seat.” And he was like, “Come on kid, turn around. Come on, come on.” I told him I wanted him to take my seat. He told me he to turn around and enjoy the show. So I got the vibe that he was basically telling me to F off. I then turned my attention to Shane McMahon and we started talking. I told him how I had interviewed for the WWE earlier and I had passed on the job, since my current employer said if I stayed, I could do this awards show idea. He gave me his card and said to stay in touch. When the Golden Gods was launching and he put me in touch with WWE public relations. I knew Jericho was a music fan, but he was unavailable at the time. So I said, “Listen, there’s this guy, CM Punk. I have Killswitch Engage booked for my awards show and they do his entrance theme. Maybe he could come out and introduce the band onstage?” They agreed, so we got CM Punk to appear at the first Golden Gods Awards. He did a great job. I reminded him of the story that I thought him being straight edge was just a gimmick for television, like Big Boss Man being a cop and I offered him a bunch of drink tickets and he was like, “Are you kidding me?” I was like, “Oh, you’re really straight edge?” And he goes, “Yeah, I’m really fuckin’ straight edge.” (laughs) I told him I was so sorry. He forgave me. So we then were launching the AP Awards. I know Chris Jericho loves metal, but the punk stuff isn’t really his bag. I just reconnected with CM Punk and the WWE and invited him to partake. It was obviously tricky because at the time I started talking to him, he was still wrestling in WWE. And by the time the awards show came, he had gone AWOL. No one really knew what was going on. I had to basically keep his involvement secret until his contract ended. And that contract didn’t end until three or four days before the awards show, so we didn’t announce his involvement until the very end. When we did, it was his first real public appearance since he left WWE. I knew it was going to be a big deal. He had gone to some ballgames and he was on Talking Dead, but this was his first big appearance. He’s just such a cool guy. He’s a legit fan of the music and scene, so I knew he would not only be wonderful as host on the carpet, but a great presenter as well. It was cool working with him and the bands loved that he was there. I’d love to work with him again for sure.”

On his relationship with CM Punk: “As you can imagine, once word got out before the show, you would’ve thought I was his agent or manager. No one knew how to even get a hold of him. I got a movie offer for him. I got a commercial offer. I got labels wanting him to put out a record. It was insane. We’re trying to do an awards show here with 75 different participating bands and he easily got fifty percent of all press and interview requests. MMA folks were calling me. TNA called me. I found myself becoming very protective of him because he’s not a character, he really is that guy. I gave him my word that I would be professional and I would protect him and make the experience comfortable. I found myself fending off all these swarming flies, so to speak. Of course, every interviewer wants to ask him that one burning question. I didn’t want him to have to deal with that. I just isolated him until the show. But at that point, I couldn’t block all the wrestling questions. That night, he was being interviewed and he replied by saying, “I will never ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever wrestle.” To be honest with you, I know this sounds crazy, but I never asked him what was happening. Even as the biggest mark in the world, I didn’t ask one wrestling question. I didn’t want to be “that guy.” He was getting married in the middle of the process too and I was like, “Oh, congratulations to you and your wife!” To me, I wanted to be professional and not like an idiot fanboy. When I interviewed for WWE years ago, I thought they might not hire me because I was a wrestling fan. So I just played dumb. They told me, “This guy Undertaker, he has a brother.” And I was like, “This Undertaker guy has a brother? Oh my god, that’s crazy!” But probably by the third interview, I snapped. I said, “I can’t do this anymore! Of course I know who Kane is!” They asked why I was lying to them. I told him that if they knew I was a fan, they wouldn’t take me seriously. I want to them to hire me because I’m the right guy for the job, not because I know what’s in the urn and about Paul Bearer and all that. I want to earn their respect separately based on merit before they find out I own wrestling figures.”
