Mick Foley Says He Turned Down Offer To Appear On Monday’s Christmas Edition Of RAW

Mick Foley posted a new Facebook blog recently where he claims he turned down an offer to appear on next week’s Christmas-themed edition of RAW, likely as Santa Claus.

Below is the full blog.

“HO HO HOGAN?

What about FO- HO-HOLEY?

I appreciate so many people jumping to my defense at the announcement of Hulk Hogan as the special guest for the Christmas episode of WWE Monday Night Raw. All of your “what about St Mick” and “Foley is Santa” comments are much appreciated.

But the truth is, I was asked by WWE if I would like to travel to Minneapolis for Raw, but had to turn the opportunity down, due to a prior commitment. I’ll miss it. I’ll watch, and probably wish I was there. But as important as appearing on Christmas Raw is to me, honoring a commitment means just a little bit more.

I have really enjoyed being part of the holiday season in my own small way in WWE, and hope to be part of the Christmas episode in 2016.

So don’t hold it against the Hulkster or WWE, I wasn’t forgotten or disrespected in any way. Just previously engaged.”

The following are highlights of the latest blog by WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross:

On Seth Rollins’ future: “Rollins vs. Cena…solid main event to close the three hour broadcast…Rollins seems to be lining up to be the next “Heyman Guy” somewhere down the road. My ‘guess’ is that Rollins will be WWE Champ in the next few months. I stress it’s my ‘guess.'”

On Roman Reigns’ return: “Roman Reigns return was good….but he’s got lots of work to catch up on if he wants to eventually get to the Promised Land. Injuries are never timely and can be especially harmful for a ‘rookie’ level talent. Here’ s where I’d expect Reigns athleticism and 2nd generation instincts to kick in.”

On his upcoming broadcast return at Wrestle Kingdom 9: “Speaking of Wrestle Kingdom 9 on PPV on January 4, I’m somewhat certain that some NJPW aficionados will find something wrong with the commentary no matter who does it especially as it concerns the unique names of some of the holds that the talent’s utilize. I can only do the best job that I can and let the cards fall where they may. I do think the style of broadcasting will be different that most USA broadcasts whether that be good or bad. Yes, I fully expect to be woodshedded by some keyboard warrior within minutes of the Tokyo Dome event ending. Gotta love the passion, right?”

    WWE SmackDown Results – December 16, 2014

WWE SmackDown on the USA Network
Live from Grand Rapids, Michigan at Van Andel Arena
Report by Jason Powell of ProWrestling.net

[Q1] Michael Cole welcomed viewers to the 800th edition of Smackdown and was joined on commentary by JBL and Tom Phillips. Fandango and Rosa Mendes danced in the ring. Roman Reigns made his entrance through the crowd…

    1. Roman Reigns vs. Fandango (w/Rosa Mendes). “The powerhouse is back in WWE,” Cole said. Reigns dominated the first 90 seconds. Fandango clotheslined Reigns over the top rope. Reigns came back and connected with a Superman Punch, then speared Fandango for the win…

Roman Reigns beat Fandango in 4:45.

The broadcast team hyped the remainder of the show and focussed on Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt being under the same roof… [C]

[Q2] Dean Ambrose came to the ring for a promo. He said Wyatt was confronted with someone as crazy as he is at TLC. He said he still has fight in him and the fight will continue on Wednesday’s Tribute to the Troops taping. Wyatt appeared on the big screen and said the only reason Ambrose is still breathing is that he’s enjoying their game so much. Wyatt said he is a slave to his calling and he can’t stop until all the heroes fall…

The broadcast team hyped Ambrose vs. Wyatt in a Bootcamp match for Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday, then hyped The Miz, Mizdow, and Luke Harper vs. The Uso Brothers and Erick Rowan… [C]

A graphic touted that the WWE app has been downloaded by 15 million people…

    2. The Uso Brothers and Erick Rowan vs. The Miz, Mizdow, and Luke Harper. The Uso Brothers are still carrying around the Slammy Awards like goofs. The teams ended up at ringside bickering heading into the break. If only there was a ring where they could settle their differences like men.

[Q3] [C] They did the big where they worked up to the big tag to Mizdow, only to have Miz tag himself in. Rowan hit a full nelson slam on Miz and went for a cover, but Harper broke it up. The Usos cleared him from the ring and performed a suicide dive on him. Someone on the broadcast team said they could smell Harper and it was disgusting. Rowan went to the top rope and performed a splash on Miz for the win…

The Usos and Erick Rowan defeated The Miz, Mizdow, and Luke Harper in 11:50.

The broadcast team hyped Ryback for Seth Rollins for later in the show, as well as footage from Raw of Brock Lesnar attacking Chris Jericho… [C]

[Q4] Backstage, Naomi spoke with Jimmy Uso about her Divas Championship match. Uso apologized to his wife for getting upset with Miz on Main Event. Naomi said she feels like her title match is something she needs to do on her own and hopes he can understand. He wished her luck…

The broadcast team spoke at ringside and then set up the Raw Rebound featuring Brock Lesnar, Paul Heyman, and Chris Jericho…

Seth Rollins, who had J&J Security with him, was introduced for his match with Ryback. Rollins limped as he headed to the ring. He was probably selling the effects of his tables and cage matches, but given what he’s been through over the last 48 hours it’s hard to say… [C]

Ryback made his entrance. As he was yelling on the stage, Rusev attacked him from behind, then kicked him near the stage. Lana came out and held up the U.S. Championship on the stage. Rusev took the title and held it up while Lana smiled, then they headed backstage.

WWE Main Event Results – December 16, 2014

WWE Main Event on the WWE Network
Live from Grand Rapids, Michigan at Van Andel Arena
    Report by F4WOnline.com

WWE Main Event from Grand Rapids featured Eric Rowan playing chess and being referred to as genius only to basically lose clean in the middle of the ring after a chokeslam from Kane. The Miz continues his attempt to gain the trust of Naomi much to Jimmy’s chagrin. The New Day triumphed over Tyson Kidd and Cesaro while Nattie looked on. After playing chess with Rowan like she was a blue eye, Paige subsequently won as heel over Emma in a fairly one-sided divas match.

The show aired one hour earlier than usual and seemed to have a somewhat different tone than a typical episode. MizTV opened the show with Naomi as the guest. Of course, Mizdow shadowed Miz. Miz introduced Naomi as his “close personal friend.” As for that, Naomi said he was dreaming. She added he was “just talk” when saying she doesn’t buy into Miz and what he has been saying. In turn, Miz called her beautiful and claimed he was for real. Naomi told Miz if there wasn’t anything else major, she was done with the conversation. Then the plot thickened as Miz promised her a divas title match on the live Smackdown broadcast.

In regards to her accepting the title match for later on, Miz said he understood if Naomi had to get permission from her husband first. Enter the Usos. Miz and Mizdow bailed out and fled off the set as Jimmy and Jey stormed to the ring. Miz told Jimmy he was ruining the moment for his wife. Jimmy fired back that his wife didn’t need the help of Miz. Jimmy very sternly told Miz to stay away from his wife. Miz pleaded that all he wanted was to see Naomi succeed and speculated that her husband didn’t feel the same way.

Later in the show, Naomi approached Miz backstage and apologized for the earlier incident. Miz suggested she needed to control her husband. If she failed to do so, Miz claimed all her dreams would go away. Mizdow mimicked throughout.

Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods (with Big E) beat Cesaro & Tyson Kidd (with Natalya). In an in-set promo beforehand, Cesaro said the team of himself and Tyson were the best new tag team in WWE. Tyson said they had the best support system as Nattie blushed. She was somewhat dejected when Tyson said he was referring to himself & Cesaro. The match itself was good which was no surprise given the participants, but it also refreshing all the same.

Big E at ringside gave Nattie a handkerchief emblazoned with New Day colors as the match began. Cesaro and Xavier started and Xavier did a uniquely cool reverse out of wheelbarrow as the match progressed. When Kofi tagged in he entered with a dive off the top that sent Cesaro reeling for a moment. Cesaro quickly recovered and cut off Kofi before tagging Tyson. After many great exchanges with Tyson and Kofi, Xavier tagged back in and the New Day members gave Tyson a double shoulder tackle. Tyson briefly recovered yet Kofi hit a flying high cross body and clotheslined Tyson over the top rope to the floor. Kofi and Xavier did stereo flip dives out over the ropes to the outside. Moments later when Kofi went for a tag, Cesaro pulled Xavier off the apron to avoid it. Likewise, the heels began to get heat on Kofi before a commercial plugging the Triple H workout tutorial.

After the break, more heat on Kofi for an extended period of time. Eventually, Kofi fired up and Cesaro once again interfered and kicked Xavier off the apron. Cesaro started the giant swing on Kofi that culminated in a dropkick from Tyson. Tyson and Cesaro landed an assisted splash and a legdrop respectively in another combination. After a comeback by Kofi, Xavier got the hot tag in and reentered the fray like a house of fire. For his earlier illegal interference, Xavier gave Cesaro an enzuigiri that sent the Swiss superstar off the apron. Xavier did a cool fireman’s carry into a gutbuster for a nearfall. Cesaro tried to interfere again and Kofi made the save. He and Cesaro spilled out to floor leaving Xavier and Tyson to trade nearfalls with rollups and creative pinning combinations. For the finish, Xavier and Kofi did a combination of the Demolition finisher tweaked with Kofi diving off the top with double foot stomp for the pinfall. The New Day shined. Nattie tried to comfort her husband and his partner after the loss.

In addition to a stellar live event featuring the ROH debut of Alberto El Patron, January 3rd is also a taping for ROH TV!  Our cameras will be rolling to capture everything that goes down while we kick of 2015.  Whether you’re in the crowd or behind the scenes, the verdict is unanimous: 2014 was the biggest year ever for Ring of Honor’s growth and global exposure.  But we promise that 2015 will be even bigger!
