The Bushwackers Confirmed For The WWE Hall Of Fame

WWE has confirmed that The Bushwackers, Luke and Butch, are the latest members of the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2015. From their official announcement:

“The unorthodox Bushwhackers soon engaged in a heated rivalry with another Hart-managed duo, Rhythm & Blues. Luke & Butch saved the WWE Universe from listening to The Honky Tonk Man & Greg “The Hammer” Valentine’s off-tune caterwauling at WrestleMania VI, masquerading as roadies and smashing their instruments in front of a packed SkyDome in Toronto. In 1991, Luke made a stunningly brief appearance in the Royal Rumble Match, where he marched into the ring, was immediately tossed out, then marched back to the locker room.

Though they never captured the World Tag Team Championship, The Bushwhackers were always on the front line of WWE, ready to stand up in the face of evil. Luke & Butch battled duos like The Natural Disasters, The Beverly Brothers and Well Dunn, forming an alliance with WWE Hall of Famer Howard Finkel to take on the latter team and their manager, Harvey Wippleman. The Bushwhacker eventually marched out of WWE in 1996. They were welcomed back with open arms by the WWE Universe at WrestleMania X-Seven in 2001, where they took part in the hysterical Gimmick Battle Royal.”

Congratulations to The Bushwackers!

WWE Fastlane Pros And Cons: Roman Reigns Supreme, Punches Ticket To WrestleMania

WWE Fastlane was held in Memphis last night at the FedEx Forum. It was a fitting venue, seeing as they pretty much mailed it in for most of the night. After a night of action, we now have a pretty clear idea of what WrestleMania will look like in five weeks. Here are the pros and cons from last night’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view.

Pros

Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 10.21.41 AM

After a night of non-finishes and botched endings, the main event between Daniel Bryan and Roman Reigns was an absolute treat. These two guys started off a bit slow, but once they got going, they really gelled well. Bryan’s wrestling style went so well with the brawling style of Reigns, and it was nice to see both guys getting support from the crowd.

A few of the highlights included Reigns countering Bryan’s dive to the floor into an overhead belly to belly suplex, Bryan countering the spear into a beautiful small package, and also Reigns turning a potential hurricanrana into a brutal powerbomb from the top rope. These two also employed some solid in-ring psychology due to Reigns selling Bryan’s kick to the liver as he tried to hit a Superman punch. Overall, it was an exciting match, both guys looked great, it ended clean, and it’s always nice to see a main event end in a handshake.

Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 10.18.09 AM

The tag team match was a close second for match of the night. These two teams have so much chemistry and it’s really a pleasure to watch them do their thing. Cesaro’s half crab Cesaro swing was cool, as was the combination of Cesaro’s suplex from the apron into a springboard from Kidd.

The Usos looked good as well, teaming up for a double team Samoan drop that I don’t recall seeing them bust out before. In the end, new champions were crowned after Kidd picked up the victory with a swinging fisherman suplex. After their victory, it was nice to find out that they are “still the new WWE Tag Team Champions” (perhaps suggesting the outcome was changed last minute, as the odds shifted after the “smart money” was in).

Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 10.17.45 AM

The Bray Wyatt segment was enjoyable. He had the crowd going nuts in anticipation of the Phenom, only to shatter their dreams by popping out of the coffin. Wyatt called himself “the new face of fear,” and said: “At WrestleMania, I will claim the soul of the Undertaker.” This feud should be entertaining, but it would have been nice to see Wyatt play up the fact that fans weren’t getting ‘Taker, as the company needs more dislikable heels right now.

Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 10.21.24 AM

I’m not totally sure how I feel about the Sting and Triple H segment, so I’ll go ahead and put it in the pros section. Triple H of course continued to bury a long dead company, stating: “My legacy is putting your legacy out of business.” He also threatened Sting with the Benoit treatment, saying he would wipe him from the history books if he didn’t cooperate. It was cool to see Sting use his signature black bat though, and Hunter was very intense throughout the segment. Overall, it could have been better, but it was a decent setup for their match at WrestleMania.

Screen shot 2015-02-23 at 10.17.27 AM

Finally, the Rusev and John Cena match was far from perfect, but it worked out well. There was some hard-hitting action throughout, including a big spinning side slam from Rusev. The action was slow-paced and methodical, but it was entertaining for the most part. It of course ended in another non-clean finish, but it worked well in this case. I have to say, seeing Cena stagger out of the arena was pretty satisfying, even though it means he will definitely get redemption at WrestleMania.

WWE RAW Preview For Tonight: Fastlane Fallout, Brock Lesnar & More

The post-WWE Fastlane edition of RAW takes place live tonight from the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee.

Tonight’s show will feature the fallout from last night’s Fastlane pay-per-view, and will begin to official road to WrestleMania 31.

WWE World Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar is advertised for the show, so expect his match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania to start getting hyped tonight.

Make sure to visit us here tonight for live WWE RAW play-by-play results coverage.

WWE WrestleMania 31 Main Event Is Set

Roman Reigns defeated Daniel Bryan at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view on Sunday night at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

With the victory, Reigns becomes the number one contender and as far as things stand right now, will be the one to challenge Brock Lesnar for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at this year’s WrestleMania 31 pay-per-view, which takes place at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

WWE Fastlane went off the air with Daniel Bryan shaking Reigns hand and saying, “You better kick his ass at WrestleMania.”

Make sure to join us here for WrestleMania 31 live results coverage on Sunday, March 29th.

Ambrose Steals I-C Title, Rusev Retains U.S. Title At WWE Fastlane PPV

– Dean Ambrose left the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee on Sunday night with the WWE Intercontinental Title, however he failed to become champion. Ambrose was disqualified in his match with the current Intercontinental Champion Bad News Barrett, however after the match, Ambrose attacked Barrett and stole his title. This likely sets the stage for an Ambrose vs. Barrett match for the Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 31.

– Rusev defeated John Cena to retain the WWE United States Championship at Sunday night’s WWE Fastlane pay-per-view. The finish came when a series of circumstances led to Cena passing out in The Accolade.

WWE Officially Begins Build To Bray Wyatt vs. Undertaker Match At WrestleMania 31

WWE finally pulled the trigger and set the stage for an Undertaker vs. Bray Wyatt match at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event on Sunday night in Memphis, Tennessee.

In a segment that took place a little over half way through the show, Undertaker’s gong hit as druids came out holding torches. His actual theme song hit as two final druids rolled a casket to the ring.

Once the casket reached the ringside area, the casket lid popped open and up sat Bray Wyatt. Wyatt cut another promo in keeping with his recent work the past few weeks, directing his comments at Undertaker without saying his name.

The segment ended with Wyatt outright saying at WrestleMania, “he will claim the soul of The Undertaker.”

Sting vs. Triple H Set For WrestleMania 31, New Tag Champs Crowned At WWE Fastlane

– Sting challenged Triple H to a match at WrestleMania 31 at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view on Sunday night. During the “face-to-face” confrontation between the two, Sting pointed to the WrestleMania sign with his bat over and over again until Triple H started to agree. Ultimately, Sting took Triple H out with a bat and left him laying, with the announcers hyping a match between the two at WrestleMania.

– The team of Cesaro and Tyson Kidd defeated The Usos in tag-team action at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view to become the new WWE Tag-Team Champions.

Randy Orton Returns At WWE Fastlane, Update On His Plans For WrestleMania 31

After months on the sidelines, Randy Orton made his return at the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view on Sunday night, which took place at the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee.

During the opening match of the evening, which saw Seth Rollins, Kane and Big Show defeat Dolph Ziggler, Ryback and Erick Rowan, the heels continued to beat up the babyfaces after their victory until Orton’s theme hit.

Orton made the save, RKO’ing several people and going for the kill on Rollins, who was ultimately saved by the Big Show.

As we have been reporting for several months, Orton and Rollins are expected to work a program heading into WrestleMania 31.

WWE Fastlane Results – February 22, 2015

WWE Fastlane 2015

The fist-ever WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, which comes to us live from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee tonight opens with the usual elaborate video package to tell the stories leading into tonight’s show.

The pyro explodes. “The Fastlane to WrestleMania begins tonight,” opens Michael Cole on commentary.

Dolph Ziggler, Erick Rowan & Ryback vs. Big Show, Kane & Seth Rollins

From there, Dolph Ziggler’s theme hits and out he comes. He stops half way down the ramp. Then, Erick Rowan’s theme hits and he comes out and joins him. Those two then wait as Ryback’s theme hits and he comes out. All three head to the ring.

After the babyface entrances, Big Show’s theme hits and out he comes. Kane comes out next and joins him. Finally, Seth Rollins comes out and all three head to the ring. Six-man tag-team action kicks off the WWE Fastlane pay-per-view event.

The babyfaces start strong very briefly, but almost immediately the heels take over. The smoke clears and Rollins is in control of Ziggler. Ziggler finally fights back and tags in Rowan. Rowan is in control of Rollins now with ease thus far.

Kane tags in and after taking a beating for a minute or so, he turns the tide. He tags Big Show in and the big man continues the dominance. The action spills out to the floor where Rowan slams Big Show back-first into the ring post. He goes for a follow-up, but Big Show moves and Rowan slams into the post. While on the ground hurt, J&J Security take some cheap shots on Rowan. Big Show grabs him, throws him in the ring and continues to punish him.

Big Show tags Kane in, who picks up where he left off. Kane takes it to Rowan for a while and then tags in Rollins. “Mr. Money in the Bank” continues to punish Rowan.

After a series of near falls between Rollins and Ryback, Rollins goes for a Blockbuster off the top, but Ryback catches him in the suplex position, moves him into a Shellshock and blasts him. He covers him, but Big Show makes the save. Out of nowhere, Big Show nails Ziggler with the knockout punch. Kane pins him and it’s over.

Ziggler and Kane both tag in. Ziggler takes the hot tag and starts nailing anything that moves. Ziggler hits a big DDT on Kane for a near fall. He goes for the FameAsser followup, but Kane avoids it. Ziggler superkicks Kane and hits the FameAsser on Rollins, who tries to interfere.

Winners: Big Show, Kane & Seth Rollins

After The Match: Randy Orton Returns

After the match, Rollins hits a Curb Stomp on Ziggler. Kane chokeslams Ryback. All three, along with J&J Security, beat down Rowan as well. As the three continue to punish Ryback, the fans start chanting “Randy Orton.” Sure enough, Orton’s theme hits and out he comes to make the save. He RKOs anything that moves as the fans in Memphis erupt. He goes for the draping DDT on Rollins, but Big Show gets him out of there. Orton RKOs Kane for good measure.

Backstage: Goldust & Dusty Rhodes

A video package airs showing the history of the Rhodes family feud. From there, we shoot backstage to Goldust when in walks Dusty Rhodes. Rhodes tells Goldust to take it easy on his brother. Goldust says he’s not fighting his brother tonight, he’s fighting Stardust. He says he’s gotta hurt him to the point that his brother shows up. Dusty tells him that both of them mean the world to him. Goldust walks off.

Stardust vs. Goldust

From there, we shoot back live inside the arena. Stardust’s theme hits and out he comes. He makes it to the ring. He’s only wearing a partial Stardust uniform, as he’s got no shirt on. He’s still painted up and wearing the shiney black pants, however. Next out is Goldust. It’s time for our brother versus brother match of the evening here at WWE Fastlane.

The bell rings and here we go. JBL and Cole get The Godfather and Lord of the Rings confused. Meanwhile, Goldust is in control of his little brother early on. A crowd chant of “Cody” starts to get to Stardust. Goldust extends his hand to shake Stardust’s hand, but Stardust slaps it away.

The two lock up and continue to go to work. Goldust dominates little brother for a bit and then Stardust turns the tide. Stardust is in firm control at this point, as the action slows down a bit and the commentators talk about past sibling rivalries.

The fans start chanting “Cody” at Stardust again, and again it bothers him. He continues to punish Goldust, which shuts the crowd up.

Stardust goes to hit the Curtain Call on Goldust. Out of nowhere, Goldust rolled him up. 1-2-3. Goldust wins. We see Dusty Rhodes looking on from a montor backstage as Goldust’s theme plays in the arena.

Stardust looks confused as Goldust stands over him with his hand extended, offering to shake hands. Stardust ultimately refuses, rolling out of the ring and turning his back on Goldust. We see another shot of Dusty watching from backstage.

The actual pin is shown a few times on replays with the commentators calling it controversial. Goldust rolled Stardust up and it looked like the ref didn’t hit three, but apparently he did. Either way, Goldust won and we’ve moved on.

Winner: Goldust

Lucha Underground Report & Analysis (Episode 15)

Lucha Underground: Report and Analysis
Airdate: February 18, 2015 (Episode 15)
Written by Rudy Cabrera

Last week was a very strong week for Lucha Underground. Big Ryck cut an awesome promo in a confessional swearing vengeance on the Crew, looking like a cold blooded Suge Knight. Easily the best promo he’s ever cut and it was one of the highlights of the night. Alberto El Patron debuted and got the biggest reaction in the history of the show. He came off like a megastar and the different lighting setup along with a vibrant Boyle Heights crowd really made his debut feel like something monumental, something that could change wrestling forever. It has been his best promo to date in what seems to be a trend set by Lucha Underground, mainly that talent is confident, free to be themselves and as a result flourish behind the microphone and on camera. Texano Jr also debuted and from what I understand AAA is officially bringing the AAA Mega World Championship feud to America. This is unprecedented and only adds prestige to the Lucha Underground product. The feud feels important on an international level and maybe Alberto will change wrestling forever.

This week’s episode opens with a video package recapping Ryck’s promo and his issues with the Crew, the Fenix-Mil Muertes feud over Catrina, Black Lotus and Texano’s attack on Alberto. Muertes comes down without Catrina, and let me just say that aside from Brock Lesnar there is no one in the industry with a physique like this man. He looks scary dangerous, ruthless and his presence is definitely felt. Chavo makes a mean entrance as well and he looks ready for a fight. You can see the Guerrero fighting aura all over him and with this more intense and focused Chavo we have the closest thing we’ll ever have to Eddie Guerrero. We miss you Eddie. Your nephew’s work continues to uphold the great family name.

They started off slow but once these two got going this was an exciting display of ring psychology and creative spots in what I personally would’ve booked as the main event. They wanted to start off strong however and indeed this was the way to do it. Chavo begins working the left leg and at one point does a sick running dropkick on the left knee of Mil Muertes. He then locks his left leg on the bottom rope, jumps over the apron to the outside and falls on it with all of his weight. These guys are intelligently selling offense. Eventually Muertes recuperates, picks him up for an electric chair drop and is now hitting Chavo in the face with hard hitting rights that could be heard all over the building. Muertes hits a clothesline from Hell that JBL would be proud of as he nearly decapitates Chavo. The crowd is all over this match. Catrina  comes out looking sexy as ever and distracts Muertes with an Aztec stone, allowing Chavo to grab a chair and hit Muertes in the back for the DQ. Muertes no sold it, hit Chavo with the flatliner onto the chair and stood over him like a legit monster. Muertes begins to flex and the announcers say “you can see the hate rippling through his chest”. Catrina was about to leave but Muertes tried to make her lick Chavo and when she refused Muertes hooked her for the flatliner. I really thought we were going to see it but lo and behold Fenix shows up for the save! Catrina then kissed Fenix while staring down Muertes and let me tell you, there was nothing sexy about that. The announcers say her kiss will quench the fire from which the Fenix will never rise again. The wrestling was perfectly solid and it advanced the Muertes/Catrina/Fenix angle. I still think this should have been the main event.

A shot aired of Angela Fong at an undisclosed location unlocking a door and walking up a flight of stairs…

The Crew entered Dario Cueto’s office looking like straight thugs. He praised them for taking out the overpaid Big Ryck by “blinding him with the bright lights” of their talent. For those of us who are not aware Big Ryck wears an eye patch now because the Crew burned his eye with a cigar. Cueto tells them if they want to stay in main event matches they need to prove it by destroying three “unlikely heroes” in tonight’s main event. He said their only job was to hurt the “three freaks” so bad that they never come back…The scene was shot in a way that made Dario Cueto look like a mob boss from one of the five families sending out his henchmen to take care of business. Again, if there is a word than can accurately describe this show, that word would have to be ‘original’. In a television era where everybody is trying to produce original content, Lucha Underground has become the standard bearer.

We go to the ring with Son of Havoc and Ivelisse mid-ring with a mic and new gold chainmail over her biker shorts. Ivelisse says that since Havoc’s been losing week after week, she’ll handle Havoc’s battle for him tonight. She called out Angelico to fight the “baddest b**** in the building”. Angelico comes down while Striker and Vamp talk about how she’s practically challenging his manhood and neutering him. What a way to make Havoc look weak. A mistake in my opinion.

Ivelisse vs. Angelico

Ivie goes for some kicks to the legs and the announcers sell that she has an extensive MMA background. She goes for a running knee but she eats a drop toehold. She tries to sweep the leg and he avoids it. He avoids all contact that doesn’t involve him catching her and being playful, so she kicks his chest and it sounds so hard the announcers say it’s like getting hit with a baseball bat in the chest. I’m not a big fan of intergender matches but I’m digging this match. He puts a hand behind his back, and she responds by slapping his face off the top and then hitting a flying hurricanrana. Angelico hits a flapjack with elevation so high Striker calls it a $12,000 fall, surely referring to breast implants. It looked painful. Havoc then gets involved and kicks Angelico in the neck which results in him falling over in a schoolboy position and her pinning him for the win. Angelico says if she wants to go one on one with him again but without Havoc around it would be his pleasure and winks at her. She’s mildly distracted by his offer but Havoc quickly grabs her and takes her to the back. Striker says “looks like ladies are leaving their men left and right. In wrestling? That’s unheard of.” Nice, I enjoyed that. The match was easily the best inter gender match they’ve produced thus far and it served as a stepping stone in the buildup of this very intriguing storyline of power, jealousy and control. Still, I think they should place a hold on intergender matches and build a women’s division around Ivelisse and Sexy Star.

Texano Jr is about to debut in the ring next. We cut to an interview Vamp did with Texano and we see clips of him dominating AAA over the course of his two year title reign. We then see Alberto beating him and and standing over the former champion. Great clips of the wrestling industry in Mexico, which, in case you didn’t know, is a country that happens to take wrestling very seriously. It has prominently been a part of our culture since 1863 and in the future I will share some of its history with you. This was the first all-Spanish interview we’ve had on the U.S. version of the show and it was a gem to behold. Texano came off like an international sensation; cool, cocky and single minded in wanting to get revenge on El Patron. If you haven’t tuned in, you should.

http://youtu.be/hSbTphETjvY

This was a squash match designed to put over Texano as the new sheriff in town. Super Fly tried to get some offense going but missed a crossbody before eating a big legdrop that I’m actually surprised he kicked out of. It looked devastating. Death valley driver into a neckbreaker and the match is over. Texano looked strong and confident while displaying his technical ability and athleticism. The guy can work. He stands over Super Fly while the crowd chants for Alberto. Alberto comes down and Texano runs away strategically to attack him on the floor. Alberto presses him into the barricade and gets some of his kneeling punches in before getting the bullrope and whipping him just like Texano did to him last week. I love this – we’re seeing the hottest feud in Mexico play out between two shows, and it’s pretty awesome. Texano escapes and Alberto uses the rope to scare the security team away, about ten of them who are trying to hold him down, while Striker talks about the AAA Title being defended in Lucha Underground. Alberto is left alone in the ring soaking in the praise and adulation from the crowd. This truly feels like a celebration and Alberto finishes the segment saying “This is my house!”. What a rush.

Cage entered Dario Cueto’s office and said he should be the Lucha Underground champion after “destroying” Prince Puma twice and beating Johnny Mundo. Cueto booked him in a non-title match next week and if he beats Puma he will earn his shot. It’s for sure a match I’m looking forward to. Cage tossed the torn title belt at Cueto and told him next time to get a real title belt.

As Cage was walking out Chavo entered the room and told Cueto to tell “Mexico” that they’re getting what they want and he quit! Cueto wished him the best in his future endeavors and told him the door to his temple is always open. After Chavo stormed out Cueto looked at the title belt and said to himself “the gods will not be pleased…”

Angela Fong was shown at the undisclosed location. She looked into the cage and said, “So, this is where he keeps you.” She continued to say that when she was a girl, the only thing she wanted was to be “the woman who killed you with my bare hands.” It is still a mystery who sits inside that cage and the suspense is making me think there will be a big payoff. . .

There was a great commercial aired for Lucha Underground. Kudos to the production team for exceptional work. On par with WWE on every level. Watch out Kevin Dunn, you’re not as indispensable as you thought you were.

It’s time for our main event.
