Video: Daniel Bryan Vows To Wrestle Again

Former WWE World Heavyweight champion Daniel Bryan appeared on Miz TV last night during the Elimination Chamber Kickoff Show and vowed to return to the ring one day.

While there was no specific timetable given for his return, this is a positive update for Bryan, who stated on RAW last month that he wasn’t sure if he’d be back in the ring in a few weeks, a few months, or ever.

Bryan has been dealing with an unknown injury since WWE’s post-WrestleMania European tour, which he left early to visit doctors. Bryan underwent an MRI, but it was never revealed what the MRI was for.

Bryan was forced to vacate the Intercontinental Championship he won at WrestleMania, which was won by Ryback last night inside the Chamber. Bryan presented Ryback with the title after his win.

Kevin Owens vs. John Cena Rematch Announced For WWE Money In The Bank PPV

To the surprise of many, NXT Champion Kevin Owens defeated WWE United States Champion John Cena clean at the WWE Elimination Chamber event on Sunday night in Corpus Christi, Texas.

After the match, Owens cut a quick promo in the ring. WWE uploaded the above clip from the segment on Sunday night.

Minutes after the first Owens-Cena match on Sunday night, WWE announced that at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view in two weeks, one of the matches will be an Elimination Chamber rematch between Kevin Owens and John Cena.

The WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

6 Participants Announced For WWE Money In The Bank Ladder Match

WWE announced six of the participants for the Money In The Bank ladder match at the upcoming Money In The Bank match.

During Sunday’s WWE Elimination Chamber special event on the WWE Network, WWE announced Neville, Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus and Dolph Ziggler will be taking place in this year’s Money In The Bank ladder match.

It’s worth noting, however, that WWE made it clear that the aforementioned six WWE Superstars are only some of the participants who will be featured in this year’s Money In The Bank contest.

The WWE Money In The Bank pay-per-view is scheduled to take place on Sunday, June 14, 2015 at Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio.

WWE Elimination Chamber Results — May 31, 2015

WWE Elimination Chamber Kickoff Show

The WWE Elimination Chamber Kickoff Show begins with the panel, which consists of Renee Young, Byron Saxton, Corey Graves and Booker T talking about tonight’s show.

From there, we are told that Rusev, who is scheduled for tonight’s Intercontinental Championship Elimination Chamber match, is no longer going to be competing. We aren’t told who his replacement will be, just that Rusev will not be part of the match.

We then go to a quick “social media lounge” segment, straight to a backstage segment with Kane and The New Day.

Stardust vs. Zack Ryder

After some more typical pre-show stuff, we shoot to the announce table where we are joined by Michael Cole, Jerry Lawler and JBL. It looks like it’s not time for a MizTV segment, instead, we’re getting an impromptu match.

Both Stardust and Zack Ryder make their way to the ring. We’re getting a bonus one-on-one match here on the Elimination Chamber Kickoff Show.

The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, it doesn’t take long before Stardust is in control of the action. Stardust dominates for a while until Ryder gets in his series of offensive moves.

Ryder hits the Broski Boot and sets Stardust up for more, although Stardust, out of nowhere, hits his new finisher, “The Queens Crossbow,” on Ryder for the 1-2-3.

Winner: Stardust

Social Media Lounge With Lana

After the match, we shoot to Tom Phillips in the social media lounge. He is joined by Lana, who WWE allowed fans to use social media to send her questions.

Phillips brings up Rusev’s injury and the fact that he’s out of his scheduled Chamber match tonight. She says she’s not talking to him, but she heard he’s injured. She doesn’t want to say anything further.

Lana is then asked about Dolph Ziggler. She says he’s cute and makes her laugh and he sends her snapshot pictures. She also talks about the fans now finally treating her well. She basically says she was mean in the past but she’ll now try to be understanding in the future.

MizTV With Daniel Bryan

After the social media lounge segment with Lana, we go to the ring where Summer Rae does a big overly-kiss-ass style introduction for her “The Marine 4” co-star, The Miz.

The Miz makes his way to the ring in a goofy-ass outfit, which the announcers make fun of. Miz brags on the mic and does a big speech about how he’s “finally back.” The announcers joke that most didn’t even know he was gone.

Miz then introduces a clip of Daniel Bryan giving up the Intercontinental Championship so the new person who holds the title can be a fighting champion. After the clip, Miz and Bryan take their seats for the MizTV segment.

After Miz asks his first question, he interrupts Bryan before he can answer it. He goes on and on about how he feels bad for Bryan, but he feels like the victim because he put so much time into Bryan to “make him a star” when he was his mentor during their NXT days years ago.

Bryan then guarantees fans his career inside the ring isn’t over. He talks about what he’s been doing while he’s been out of action, such as writing a book. Miz then goes on a giant heel-rant, mocking and putting down Bryan in every way he can think of.

Miz keeps babbling until finally Bryan heard enough. Bryan yells “Miz …shut up!” He says the reason he is here tonight is to present the winner of tonight’s I-C title Elimination Chamber match with the belt. He then guarantees all of his fans again that he isn’t done wrestling.

Bryan and Miz go at it again until finally Miz annoys Bryan enough again that he cuts him off and tells him that MizTV is boring. He says he knew it would be so he came prepared. He says knowing it would be, he brought “this.”

With that said, Bryan snaps his finger and then Macho Man Randy Savage’s music plays. Out comes Macho Mandow and Axelmania. They come out dressed up like Savage and Hogan and beat down Miz. Hulk Hogan’s music plays as Axelmania and Mandow play to the crowd. Bryan tries to leave while they celebrate, but they stop him and have him celebrate with them.

Backstage: Eden With Dean Ambrose & Roman Reigns

Backstage, Eden introduces Dean Ambrose. Ambrose walks in and Eden asks him if he feels any extra pressure tonight. Ambrose says he doesn’t, because he has everything to gain and nothing to lose. He then says on the other hand, he feels a lot of pressure in his guts. He says it’s bubbling hatred he feels for The Authority. He says he can relieve that by punching Seth Rollins in the face and taking his WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

As Ambrose continues to talk, in walks Roman Reigns. Reigns asks if he got the ice or the cold ones. Ambrose says he didn’t. Reigns laughs and says “good thing I already did.” Reigns tells Ambrose to take care of Rollins and he’ll take care of the rest.

Darren Young Explains How CM Punk Had His Back When He Came Out Of The Closet

WWE Superstar Darren Young recently appeared on SIRIUS/XM radio personality Sam Roberts’ podcast to talk about a number of subjects, including the internal reaction in WWE to the news that he was a homosexual, particularly how former WWE Superstar CM Punk handled the news.

“Him and I had like a love/hate relationship,” Young said of Punk. “He was a little rough around the edges, but to be honest with you, one thing about Punk if I could talk about him for just a second, when he had his match with Brock Lesnar in 2013 that was a couple days after I made my announcement to TMZ.”

Young continued, “After this brutal match with Brock Lesnar, he was all iced up and I hadn’t seen him since I made my announcement. So he came up to me in catering and told me to stand up in front of people. I stood up and he gave me a hug. He said, “I’m proud of you and if you ever have any problem with anyone in the locker room, you let me know. I have your back.”

Jim Ross Blog: Elimination Chamber Thoughts & Predictions, Cena-Owens, More

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog with his thoughts on tonight’s WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view, as well as other opinions and comments. Below are some of the highlights.

On Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose: “WWE Champion Seth Rollins vs Dean Ambrose will be a match of the night candidate for sure and my expectations for this match are high. I think Rollins retains. Remember, it’s not the kiss of death to lose via another’s finishing maneuver without kicking out of it multiple times.”

On the I-C title Elimination Chamber match: “IC Title match inside the Elimination Chamber is unique and the Intercontinental Title was on its way to becoming meaningful again until Daniel Bryan had to relinquish the title due to injuries. I’d love to see Dolph Ziggler win the championship but it’s to unpredictable to call which I see as a good thing. Ziggler would be a great IC Champion as he can have excellent bouts with anyone on the roster plus he’s over with the fan base. Sheamus is also a strong candidate to win this match.”

On the Tag-Team title Elimination Chamber match: “WWE Tag Title Bout is really a crowded field and the best team in the hunt, Cesaro and Kidd, would be great champions to build around but New Day has the potential to become solid villains so it’s another match that is hard to call. Don’t discount the Matadores in Corpus Christi winning either but my pick is Cesaro and Kidd which is likely just my wishful thinking.”

On John Cena vs. Kevin Owens: “John Cena vs. Kevin Owens is an intriguing match and a great opportunity for WWE to ‘make’ Owens vs the biggest star in the company whose losing would not hurt him a bit. It’s time to make new stars and in order to do that someone who is over has to do the honors and tonight is a great opportunity for Owens to upset Cena. That’s how I’m picking, Owens over Cena, although I’d be shocked if that occurred. Owens is my pick. Win or lose Owens needs to making memorable impact.”

Nikki Bella Hoping For New Competition From NXT Women, Ryback Talks Tough Enough

– Tonight at Elimination Chamber, Nikki Bella will defend the Divas Championship against Naomi and Paige in a Triple Threat Match. Prior to the event, she posted a message on Instagram saying she hopes to continue her reign as Divas Champion and face some new competition from the women of NXT. Nikki stated:

“As I say good bye to wine country and hello to Texas I feel revived and refreshed. Today I will prepare and get into my zone as I take on two opponents at the Elimination Chamber tomorrow on the WWE Network. Almost 200 days as your Divas Champion. I hope to continue that reign, continue to make my reign and the Divas Division better. Wish I could put this title on the line every week to a new opponent. I hope to get new competition in our Divas Division soon with NXT Women on the rise,” Bella stated.

“The future looks promising. Looks competitive. Looks tough. So happy to be apart of it. So happy for the challenges. 9 years in July I have been wrestling. There’s nothing like being passionate about your craft. 9 years into it I am still trying to be better and better. Never settle. Always strive to be the best you… Even when you feel like you are there… Keep striving… There’s always something you can work on. Stay Fearless. Love!”

– Ryback, who competed on the fourth season of Tough Enough in 2004, recalled his experience competing on the show in this interview published on WWEToughEnough.com.

“Tough Enough was my introduction into the world of WWE. Looking back, I was 22 years old, just a guy who played baseball and football my entire life, and was a fan of WWE from the age of 5 years old. Going into Tough Enough and into a WWE ring, I thought I was prepared, and I found out I had no clue, essentially,” Ryback said.

Ryback offers the following advice to the contestants who join this season’s cast.

“I’ve seen guys who spent their entire lives in the military, who are considered “tough guys,” quit after two days. I’ve seen guys come from a mixed martial arts background quit after just a few days. It takes a special mindset, and you have to have a love and a passion for WWE. As long as you respect it when you step in the ring, you’ll be all right. It’s the guys who don’t who fall off,” said Ryback.

Sami Zayn On His Long Rivalry With Kevin Owens, Being Named NXT Superstar Of The Year

The official website of the NHL’s Montreal Canadiens recently interviewed NXT star Sami Zayn about a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On what made him pursue a career in pro wrestling: “As a kid growing up in Montreal, I wanted to become either a hockey player or a wrestler. Since my family didn’t have a lot of money, my parents never put me in a hockey league because it was so expensive. When I was 17 years old, I was given the opportunity to be trained as a wrestler. At the time, I never really thought about making it a career, I only saw it as a chance to do something that I always wanted to do. It’s similar to hockey when a kid who’s five years old can’t really say if he’ll become a professional hockey player. But, if you stay in something long enough and you keep doing something long enough and you enjoy it, one thing led to another and I kept going. I would have loved to make a career as a member of the Habs (laughs), but I think wrestling was more my thing.”

On his longtime rivalry with Kevin Owens and how it compares to the Habs vs. Bruins hockey rivalry: “That would be a good comparison. (laughs) It’s funny because if I’m not mistaken, Kevin’s dad is a Habs fan and his mom is a Bruins fan. From the time we started wrestling in Laval at Le Skratch up until today in WWE, every step of the way in our careers it’s always been sometimes friends, but the majority of the time enemies. In a lot of ways it’s like the Habs and the Bruins. No matter what, we’re destined to fight each other until the end of time. Fans seem to really like it.”

On being named NXT’s 2014 Superstar of the Year: “NXT changed so much since I got here two years ago. When I first got here, the culture was so different, it was about getting out of here as fast as possible. In my opinion, I noticed early on that it could make people go crazy. When I got there, I wanted to make NXT a better brand and make it grow. And, it did. But at the end of the day, my goal is to evolve and go above and beyond to make RAW or Smackdown! or the Pay-per-views better, or give Wrestlemania one more great match. I’m kind of split on this because NXT is my immediate goal, but my ultimate goal is to make RAW and make it better. Getting recognized with the Slammy Award for Superstar of the Year in NXT or finally winning the championship helped me and our brand. By the time I get on the main roster, I hope to be able to build up a lot of equity that way to show that I’m on the way to the top.”

Teddy Long Talks Managing Undertaker Early In His Career, Racism In Wrestling

Former WWE performer Teddy Long recently spoke with the folks at AL.com to promote his appearance at AWF’s show outside the Golden Corral restaurant in Tillman’s Corner. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On being a General Manager in WWE: “I had a great experience with that. It was the first time ever (a babyface played the general manager role). They talked to me a couple of times about turning me (into a heel, or bad guy) and Vince said, ‘No.’ He saw that people liked me. If the people like you, why turn? That’s what Vince is all about. He’s about money. My character was definitely me. Vince was the guy behind a lot of it, but I made the character me. That’s how I got over. I wasn’t being someone else.”

On his favorite SmackDown memory: ” I think it was the wedding. I had the wedding with Kristal Marshall and had the heart attack as I said, ‘I do.’ That was some good stuff. But I had so many memories. I had an opportunity to put Rey Mysterio in a big position one night so he could qualify for the world title. John Laurinaitis and Vickie Guerrero … we had some good times. (Guerrero) was a sweet woman.”

On managing The Undertaker early in his career before he came to WWE: “Mark was one of the nicest guys you ever would meet. ‘Taker is a business man. He’s a lot like Vince. When you can, yourself, get involved in storylines with Undertaker and people like that, you don’t let that go to your head. I never did that.”

On racism in wrestling and Ron Simmons becoming the first black World Champion in WCW: “I thought it was a significant achievement. There had never been a black world championship before. Back in the day, there was a little racism in our industry. You saw black guys get beat and they never thought they would be able to get to the top. But Ron Simmons was a brand. He was a former Florida State University (All-American) football player. Putting the belt on him was no racism thing. They put the belt on him because (the company felt that Simmons could represent the company as champion).”

Molly Holly on catching up with Natalya and watching Madusa go into the WWE Hall Of Fame: “I talked to Nattie [Natalya] a little bit, and I complimented her inducting Madusa. It’s about time. TNA Star Mica On Getting Injured By Sin Cara, His Father Haku, Billy Corgan

TNA star Mica recently appeared as a guest on the Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast and spoke about a number of topics. Below are some highlights of the interview.

On competing in a TNA Gutcheck and getting signed by the company: “I did the Gutcheck and on that day we filmed I honestly thought I was just going to be rolling around and maybe doing a tryout match and next thing I know we are doing an actual show and taking bumps and I was grateful of the opportunity to do it. Tommy Dreamer pulled me aside and said that it was a great performance and don’t be surprised if you get a call and sure enough about a week or two after I got the call from Bob Ryder saying TNA would like to bring me on as one of the TNA Superstars and I was delighted. It was awesome to get a call from TNA and that they wanted me to be apart of their family.”

On Billy Corgan’s influence on the product thus far: “He loves wrestling. Billy’s mind is for wrestling. He is all about it and what’s nice is he does have a wrestling background, he is the Smashing Pumpkins there is no one else, it’s him. His creative genius is amazing. Although we only had him for like four days he is really engaged with a lot of us and their are a couple of story lines that he was apart of and he wanted to make sure he stayed really focused on the story lines that TNA has brought to television. I’m really looking forward to working with him and to see what he has in store for TNA as a whole. You can tell the TNA roster is very excited to have him and we are looking forward to working with him.”

On working against the BDC (Beat Down Clan): “Those guys, especially (Low) Ki and MVP were both in WWE at one time and actually MVP was in a pretty big spot up there so it’s nice to get his insight on how things were, how they are going and how to adjust and adapt to TNA right now. Ki is a hell of a talent and has such a mind for the game. I love talking to him and understanding how to stand out as an individual wrestler and how to make things work. Kenny King for as tall as he is he works as if he could be a Luchador. He is deceiving as far as his ability. Homicide I knew from way back when and got to work with him a little bit but right now he has torn something in his shoulder and I am really looking forward to working more with Homicide.”

On problems injuries caused him while working with Mistico (Sin Cara): “It definitely played a role. He (Mistico) had significant injuries that just happened one after the other. First it was his knee, then his hand. The poor guy was just plagued by injuries and it did hold us up. Their were opportunities for us to start something with another talent on the roster and they tried to get us into something with Ted Dibiase and that came to a stand still creatively because Ted wanted something else and we were just bouncing around doing live events and just doing tag matches with different people.”

On working with Hunico and their relationship: “Hunico is an amazing guy and is ridiculously strong. He has an amateur wrestling background so it was always great to be in the ring with him and learn from him. Besides the amateur background he also has the Lucha background and I learned a lot about being a good base for the Lucha style wrestlers. He himself is a hell of a base for the Lucha guys, he used to catch me which is amazing when we would do Lucha style moves on each other and I always appreciated him taking the time to show me the Lucha style on our off time when we were traveling.”

Prior to getting injured, WWE’s original plans were to call former NXT Champion Sami Zayn up to the main roster after his match with Kevin Owens at NXT Takeover: Unstoppable..

Due to the recent injury Zayn suffered, WWE changed their plans and instead called current NXT Champion Owens up to the main roster.

As noted, Owens recently signed a main roster contract with WWE and will be working every RAW show going forward. Owens will also continue to work in NXT because he is the World Champion, so that his transition to the main roster will be a smooth one.

Additionally, there are apparently some big plans to call up the current number one contender to the NXT title — Finn Balor — to the main roster as well. What those “big plans” are, however, remain to be seen.
