Jim Ross Blog: RAW Thoughts, Cena vs. Cesaro, Lana, Barrett & More

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross updated his official blog on Tuesday. Below are some of the highlights.

On John Cena vs. Cesaro from RAW: “Loved the Cena vs. Cesaro match but wasn’t overwhelmed with how it ended. Nonetheless the match itself was excellent and showed that Cesaro is one of he best talents in the entire business and is certainly an untapped talent within the WWE, IMO. The United States Title Open Challenge by Cena is one of the best things that WWE has done creatively in a good while. I’ve enjoyed it every week.”

On Lana: “Thought Ziggler looked uncomfortable and it seemed the audience did not know quite how to react when Lana said that she and Dolph were more than friends. Lana has a great look and displays the ‘it’ factor sporadically which may mean that she’s destined for more WWE Films in the future unless she also learns to handle herself in the ring.”

On King Barrett: “Waiting for the “King” Barrett persona to click. The question is, will it? I do like his potential bit O wish that he wold cheat more.”

Earlier this month, 2K Sports announced on Twitter that the upcoming WWE 2K16 video game will feature 120+ playable characters.

WWE gaming fans immediately began questioning if the “120+ playable characters” meant we’ll be getting multiple version of each wrestler, or if a large portion of these characters will be available via DLC for an additional charge.

2K set the record straight, revealing that the game will ship with all 120 unique playable characters, making this by far the largest roster ever in a WWE video game.

Chris Masters Talks GFW, His Second Run In WWE, Different Characters

Global Force Wrestling’s “The Adonis” Chris Mordetzky (Chris Masters) recently spoke with Marc Madison of The News Hub about a number of topics. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On training under Rip Rogers: “Basically when I went to OVW, we started training under Rip Rogers and he was just so old school but in a good way. He just created a great foundation which you could build off of which made it perfect when Lance Storm came around and Rip was let go for whatever reasons and Lance came in and took the foundation that Rip had laid out and he really modernized what we needed to do in this day and age of professional wrestling. It’s not going to be an hour Broadway obviously for the most part. It’s usually more just about time. There were a few Broadway matches done in OVW and they weren’t the greatest matches they really aren’t talking or anything they are just going out there and that’s an accomplishment even if its plausible or decent you can’t ask everyone to go out there and be Shawn Michaels or Bret Hart but it’s just good to have it in your back pocket and say that you’ve done it.”

On the difference between The Adonis and The Masterpiece: “I don’t know how much a difference there is in character but I’ll say this about myself that I’ve been doing this close to a decade and I’m much more well-rounded, much more mature performer, my in-ring work is the best it’s ever been. Basically, I’ve reached my peak I believe within the last few years in terms of in ring ability and what I can do and understanding what can do and you’ll see me essentially The Adonis formerly Chris Masters but you are going to see basically 2015 version of me which is definitely among one of the top workers in the world.”

On his second tour of duty with the WWE: “From 2011 on I made it my goal whether push or no push whatever it was. I was on Superstars and I was given a lot of time then and my goal was just to prove the neigh sayers wrong and be a good in-ring worker and not just a body. To try and give WWE basically make them use me.”

Mick Foley Reflects On His Career And Reveals If He Fears Kevin Owens

This past weekend WWE Hall of Famer, Mick Foley wrote on his official Facebook page and discussed current NXT Champion Kevin Owens.

In the post Mick briefly touched on his career, his look and compared it to that of Kevin Owens and whether or not he fears him.

The Facebook post reads:

“No matter where I was during the course of my career, I always felt comfortable in knowing that my character was unique and that my matches were going to be different than anyone else’s on the card. I really think that if Kevin Owens had been around while I was in my peak that he would have forced me to become a better wrestler – to increase my limited offensive arsenal, and to step up the cardio to keep up with his faster pace. I appreciate that so many people miss me on their TV sets each week, but I’m not really gone. Kevin Owens is a faster, stronger, more aggressive version of me who you can see each week on WWE Raw and WWE SmackDown.

So does Foley fear Owens? In a way. I’m afraid that when wrestling’s history book is written and the topic of top wrestlers with unorthodox body types is discussed, that my name will no longer be first on the list!”

WWE Superstars Preview, Brawl After RAW, And Bo Dallas Reflects On The Rock’s Attack

Prior to last night’s edition of RAW in Washington, DC, WWE recorded two matches for this week’s episode of WWE Superstars, they were:

– Adam Rose vs. Fandango

– The Ascension vs. Curtis Axel & Damien Sandow

After RAW went off the air, The Authority stood tall after defeating Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. That was until Ryback, R-Truth and Dolph Ziggler made their way to the ring.

In the video shown above, Bo Dallas can be seen reacting to The Rock’s attack on him during the WWE Live Event in Boston on Friday night which ended with Dallas receiving the Rock Bottom.

Dallas explains that the moment can’t be described and it’s something that he’ll remember for the rest of his life adding that Bo Dallas is the future.

The Rock On Wrestling Vs. Movies, His Success So Far And More

In the August 2015 issue of Esquire, WWE Legend The Rock is featured on the cover and the wrestler, now actor sat down for a lengthy interview over Skype while he was in LA.

Discussing his success so far:

“I’ve been fortunate to have had the life I had prior to Hollywood. I wasn’t starving, I was going to eat the next day. I came to Hollywood wanting a career that had longevity, and I wasn’t afraid to take risks because I had a dollar in the bank. I wasn’t driven by money as much as I was driven by making a successful transition. And I was smart enough to know that I certainly didn’t have all the answers and I needed to surround myself with smart people and be willing to take risks and be willing to fail.”

Discussing just how accurate the movie “The Wrestler” actually is:

“It’s very accurate. I would do blade jobs. I get a call once from the WWE, saying, “Vince [McMahon] would like to see you in Stamford.” I went to his office and he says, “I really think you have a lot of potential, but you’re not ready for the WWE. You should go to Memphis, Tennessee. That’s where I want you to learn the business.” And as I was leaving, he said, “You keep working hard, but don’t go down there and cut your fucking forehead with razor blades, you understand me?”

In the ’60s and ’70s and early ’80s, the trainers would grind you and eventually they would break something—they would break an ankle in ways that it would heal. It was just the way of the business, to ensure that you learned respect for wrestling. It was crazy. My dad [Rocky Johnson, a WWE Hall of Fame grappler] didn’t break anything on me, but he grinded me out every day for months.”

Discussing the world of wrestling vs. the world of movies:

“Wrestling is intimate. You can reach out and touch the wrestlers. I don’t get that connection in movies, but the impact is so much greater. You’re able to craft a longer career in movies. In wrestling, there’s a shelf life, and some wrestlers don’t pay attention to the shelf life. Mickey Rourke’s character in The Wrestler—that was my dad, that was my uncles, that was so many members of my family. It was the only thing they knew. And then they would end up wrestling for a hundred bucks, go to autograph signings for two hundred bucks.”

WWE RAW Results – June 29, 2015

Seth Rollins, J&J Security, Kane Kick Off RAW

After a lengthy video package airs, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ music hits and out he comes to the ring with J&J Security and Kane.

Rollins takes to the mic and talks about taking power when he “conquerered the conquerer.” He goes on to mock and talk trash about Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman.

Rollins complains that Jamie Noble suffered three broken ribs, but says he’s still tougher than anyone in this arena, and there’s not a chance that Noble wouldn’t leave his side. He asks the fans to give Noble respect and stand up and applaud him.

Rollins asks Kane and J&J Security to come over to the other side of the ring, as he has gifts for them. He removes a curtain over a podium and it shows he bought all three of them Apple watches. Noble says they’re so thankful they’re going to go backstage and take their first “selfie.”

He continues to Kane, sending him on a trip to Hawaii. Out comes Hawaiian dancers, etc. Rollins says before he goes on vacation they should send him out in style, he and Kane versus Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in a no disqualification match.

Now Rollins moves onto J&J Security. He says he saw them come in a crappy rental car tonight. He says his crew travels in style. A model comes out and presents them with a brand new car! Noble and Mercury, in Price Is Right style, are all happy.

Rollins and co. celebrate around the car until finally Big Show’s music hits and out he comes as Noble obnoxiously honks the horn inside the car over and over and over and over again.

Big Show vs. Mark Henry

After Big Show comes out, Mark Henry makes his way out. Meanwhile, Rollins, Kane and J&J Security remain at the car honking the horn and partying. Big Show vs. Henry is next as we go to our first commercial of the evening.

When we return from commercial, we see highlights from last week’s RAW and SmackDown of Big Show’s destruction of people.

We then shoot live into the ring where Big Show and Mark Henry are ready to battle, as The Miz joins the gang on commentary for this, our first match of the evening.

The bell sounds and here we go with an enthusiastic Miz on commentary as Big Show bullies Henry into the corner and pounds away on him with punches and chops.

Henry tries to fight back with some offense, but literally within a minute Big Show cut him off, hit him with a knockout punch and pinned him, 1-2-3.

Winner: Big Show

After The Match: Ryback Strikes!

After the match, Big Show is in the ring as Ryback’s theme hits. Out comes “The Big Guy,” with The Miz going bonkers on commentary. Ryback takes out Big Show, but Miz gets in a cheap shot and runs away. Ryback challenges him to fight him right now. We head to commercial. Cliffhanger!

Jeff Jarrett To Take TNA Title To GFW, TNA Done With PPV?

Following his victory in the main event at Sunday’s TNA Slammiversary pay-per-view, a win that saw him become the first ever TNA “King Of The Mountain” Champion, Jeff Jarrett is expected to bring the new TNA belt to his Global Force Wrestling upstart promotion and defend it against talent on that roster.

Speaking of Sunday’s Slammiversary event, there has been a lot of speculation that the show could very well have been the last pay-per-view event in TNA history.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline.com, several TNA personalities — such as Jeremy Borash and others — seemed to be saying their “goodbyes” to the company during the show.

Jim Ross Blog: TNA Slammiversary, GFW-TNA Working Together?, Lesnar/Rollins

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross recently updated his official blog. Below are some of the highlights.

On TNA Slammiversary: “Hope TNA did well on their PPV that I did not watch due to family obligations. I know that they needed a hit and hopefully folks bought the show. Their taping schedule, while it may be good for their financial model, is a system built to never garner success. Taping so much content at one time, much of it out of sequence, etc is not the way to do business. However, if that’s the only way that TNA can afford to tape their TV show then it is what it is. I want this brand, as I do all promotions, to succeed and will continue to watch their weekly shows and pull for them but any company who thinks that they an build their brand back to being close to profitability on a network the caliber of Destination America has to be kidding themselves. It cannot be done. Most people that communicate with me can’t even see the network on their cable systems. I get it but I pay for it in a premium package so that I can watch TNA and Lucha Underground. I watch ROH generally on our local stations in OKC.”

On GFW and TNA working together: “By all reports the talents worked hard which is no surprise to me as I’ve always liked their roster. I have to be honest with you though that I couldn’t explain what a King of the Mountain match is to save my BBQ Sauce. Jeff Jarrett winning the main event surprised me and indicates that there is more coming as it relates to a working relationship between GFW and TNA. In all honestly, they need each other for various and obvious reasons. BTW, I’m happy that Mike Tenay returned to broadcast booth. Sunday night.”

On Seth Rollins vs. Brock Lesnar: “Smart of WWE to allow Seth Rollins to get some steam versus Brock Lesnar last week and the smart money is on Rollins needing/getting more ‘heat’ between tonight and Battleground on July 19. Lesnar won’t get another beat down but Rollins can’t be beat down by Lesnar between now and the St Louis event either. I still think that Wrestlemania Texas is the right spot for Lesnar to win back the WWE World Title if the story is properly told.”

Mickie James Says She Wants To Return To WWE, Work With Paige

TNA Knockout Mickie James recently appeared as a guest on The Roman Show and spoke about her goals. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On Working With Paige is She Makes a WWE Return: “Paige. I am going to take her out now. If you don’t see her it’s not my fault. The girls have been killing it in NXT. Kudos to the girls of NXT for killing it. It’s a tough one. They are all so good. I would like to take on Charlotte. That would be fun because I’ve been friends with Ric Flair. He does nothing, but brag about her. He is proud of her as he should be.”

On Reaching Her Goals: “I don’t know. That would be amazing,” she said about returning to the WWE. “I got into wrestling to be a WWE superstar that was my goal. I watched WWE as a child. I was a fan. That’s where I wanted to be. I was fortunate and blessed to achieve that goal. I am grateful. But if I had the opportunity to come back of course I would be back to kick their butts. Easy competition. Just kidding.”

Dolph Ziggler Says He Has Not Re-Signed With WWE, “Might Have To Go Away For A Little Bit”

Dolph Ziggler appeared on Chad Dukes Versus The World on 106.7 The Fan on Monday afternoon and revealed that he has NOT signed a new contract with WWE, despite comments he gave to the Boston Herald over the weekend that strongly implied he had.

Ziggler explained that he’s still negotiating with the company and revealed that if he can’t secure a deal that allows him to explore outside opportunities (live comedy, television and movies), he might have to “go away for a little bit.”

“I’m thinking about it right now. I had a request for an upcoming contract that would end a few months from now, maybe two or three months from now, and they requested back what they would like, I countered another offer and we’re waiting to finalize some things. I love WWE and I can’t picture myself wrestling somewhere else but it’s also becoming now where that Wednesday and Thursday, I can’t just do that and get some outside live events for comedy and different movie and television options, which would only be to promote myself as a WWE superstar, to make myself a bigger star so I can advance more in WWE. So if I can’t find that happy medium, I might have to go away for a little bit.”

He also said that things like getting a push or title runs have nothing to do with whether he’ll stay with WWE.

“Demanding a push, demanding world titles, demanding things, what I demand is to be challenged in the ring every week and when I do it, I do it better than anyone else. You can debate that you don’t like the way I sell, you don’t like the way I talk, you don’t like the way I dress, you don’t like my name, but here’s the deal: somehow the 5’11” guy with the funny name and funny trunks has outlasted everybody else in 11 years here and hasn’t gone away …

“What I wanna do is make myself a bigger asset to WWE. If it involves leaving, that would crush me but it might.”

Tyrus Talks About His Issues With John Cena, Memories Of Dusty Rhodes & More

TNA star Tyrus (aka Brodus Clay) appeared on CBS Radio’s Chad Dukes Wrestling Show this past week to discuss working with Jason Albert, Dusty Rhodes, his issues with John Cena and more. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On Jason Albert: “I think my game expanded tagging with him. So deep, man he knows so much he doesn’t let anything bother him, where I’m more emotional. Everything bothers me. Like somebody says something sideways I’m like, ‘I’m gonna kill that-‘ and he’ll be like, ‘Hey man, hey, relax it’s okay forget it.’ Perfect example, when we had to do that lingerie spot, I was more upset that he had to do that and he was like, ‘Hey, we’re going to make this work.’ And we ended up being a tag team. I wanted us to turn heel together.”

“Performance-wise not seeing him is a disservice to the fans but as a trainer, I think you’re going to start seeing this next generation of guys coming up under his tutelege, you’re going to see a lot of guys that really got their stuff together. His influence, I mean he was he was in the Attitude Era and he was in after that, he was in New Japan, as far as like moves, psychology, and stuff I can’t think of anyone better to be honest with you.”

On Dusty Rhodes: “I mean, I couldn’t have done [The Funkasaurus] without Dusty Rhodes. He was so instrumental in the whole character thing.”

“I spent the whole day with Dusty and he played ‘Moves Like Jagger’ and me and him danced to it in the arena all day. I actually have the footage but I was told I was never allowed to show it but I watched it the other day because I missed him.”

“This is the same guy when I first got there and I was about four hundred sixty pounds they told me I had to wear trunks. I was like, ‘Oh my god, they hate me.’ So what does Dusty do? He comes to work with his shirt off. He walks around the arena with his shirt off. ‘If I can do it baby, you can do it.’ “

On John Cena’s mention of him on Raw recently: “Cena ran his mouth a couple weeks ago that I was lumped in with the XFL, son of a bitch, and I was like he XFL was cool. And listen, the only difference between him and P.N. News is that he got a push, because he wasn’t the first rapping gimmick. He wasn’t the first guy with a chain, he just won some titles. If he didn’t he’s just white P.N. News.”

“It’s good. He wants to do an open challenge, keep running your mouth you know, you’ll see the US Title in TNA. I’ll keep it for as long as I want to. But yeah I mean it’s one of those things where you know what my name’s being dropped in three wrestling promotions in one week, why not.”
