Triple H Running RAW Last Night, Update On Tyson Kidd’s Recovery Time

On the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that last night’s episode of RAW was run by Triple H – other than the writing.

He also noted the reason for this was both Vince McMahon and Kevin Dunn were out of town and in Orlando for the return of “Tough Enough” which premieres on the USA Network tonight.

Meltzer also discussed Tyson Kidd who was injured a few weeks ago after taking Samoa Joe’s finishing move ‘the muscle buster’ during a dark match before RAW.

Dave mentioned on his show that Tyson will be having surgery on Wednesday and noted that it’s likely he could be out for around 14 months.

Triple H Talks “Tough Enough” As Billy Gunn Previews First Challenge

Ahead of the return of “Tough Enough” tonight on the USA Network, WWE have released a video where new coach Billy Gunn talks about the first challenge the contestants will have to endure.

USA Today’s Brian Truitt recently spoke with Triple H, Booker T and Chris Jericho about the return of the show. The full interview can be found at this link.

During the interview, Triple H spoke about taking the show to the next level:

“Our athletes and performers make what we do look very easy because they’re very, very good at it. People lose perspective of how difficult it is. You ostensibly have the opportunity to see an icon 20 years from now at Wrestlemania where you can say, ‘I remember seeing the day that they walked into the Performance Center and ran drills and threw up in the garbage can.'”

Triple H also addressed the most important quality in a potential superstar, their charisma:

“It’s the hardest thing to teach. It’s that guy who walks in the door and everybody stops and says, ‘Who’s that?’ It’s the girl who walks in and doesn’t have to be the hottest chick, but there’s something about her that you’re just like, ‘Wow, look at her.’ ”

The new series of “Tough Enough” premieres tonight at 8pm EST on the USA Network and will also be available on the WWE YouTube channel at the same time.

WWE Filing To Officially Register Trademark For Big Name Superstar

PWInsider have noted that the WWE have filed to register a trademark for the term “Hard Hitting Reality”

The WWE have also reportedly filed to register the trademark for “Bray Wyatt” for the first time, despite him being part of the company for a few years now.

It’s not great news for WWE Diva Naomi however after the “Slayomi” trademark has been abandoned with Naomi confirming the news via Twitter.

She took to the social media site last week to ask her fans for suggestions for a new name for them revealing that she couldn’t use the term “slay” anymore.

Since the tweet it appears that Naomi is now referring to her fanbase as the “NaoMob” after she compiled a list of potential names with her fans.

Six Man Tag Match After RAW, WWE Diva Missing From Show? YouTube Show Ends

Last night after RAW went off the air fans were treated to a six man tag match involving NXT Champion Kevin Owens, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins and Kane.

The trio lost the match to the team of United States Champion John Cena, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose when Cena hit the AA on Rollins for the win.

A photo from the match can be seen below:

During the show, many fans were questioning why WWE Diva Paige didn’t appear on the show. This of course was due to “Tough Enough” rehearsals taking place ahead of tonight’s season premiere.

Renee Young was also missing from RAW last night. She was also at those rehearsals and taking to Twitter yesterday, revealed that WWE YouTube show, “The JBL & Renee Show” is no more.

WWE Issues Statement On The Passing Of “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel

WWE issued a statement on the passing of pro wrestling “The Nature Boy” Buddy Landel, who passed away on Monday at age 53.

WWE’s official statement reads as follows:

“WWE is saddened to learn of the passing of William Ansor, aka “Nature Boy” Buddy Landel.

Landel made his in-ring debut in 1979, performing in regional promotions before signing in 1985 with the NWA’s Jim Crockett Promotions. With flowing blond locks, glittering robes and WWE Hall of Famer J.J. Dillon in his corner, Landel set his sights on then-NWA World Champion “Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Though he left Crockett Promotions by the end of the year, Landel left his mark, defeating Terry Taylor at Starrcade 1985 to capture the NWA National Championship.

Landel continued to compete in various promotions in Tennessee and Alabama, then returned to the NWA in 1990 to face off with Flair in a “Battle of the Nature Boys,” before moving on to compete in Smoky Mountain Wrestling. He also made brief appearances in WWE in 1995 and 1996.

WWE extends its condolences to Landel’s family, friends and fans.”

Photo: Tyson Kidd In Hospital With Natalya Preparing To Undergo Surgery This Week

WWE Superstar Tyson Kidd will be undergoing neck surgery this week.

Kidd suffered an injury during Samoa Joe’s first ever WWE dark match prior to a RAW taping a few weeks ago. After the match, the general belief was that the injury wasn’t anyone’s fault, and was just a case of an accident resulting in what could potentially be a very significant injury.

Tyson Kidd posted the following photo of himself with his wife — WWE Diva Natalya — from the hospital, with a caption reading: “A little pre-op today. Grateful to have my best friend by my side. In 36 hours I unleash my mutant healing powers… “

Roderick Strong On Differences Between ROH & TNA, ROH On Destination America

Ring Of Honor performer Roderick Strong recently sat down for an interview to discuss a wide variety of topics. Below are some highlights from the interview.

On the differences between TNA & ROH: “Well obviously the way I was used in both companies was vastly different. To me that would be the biggest thing that stood out. I thought my time in TNA went about as well as it possibly could for what it was. With me being as young as I was and them trying to highlight the x division like they did. I had an opportunity to have some really good matches there. I was blessed and lucky to be put in divisions where I could showcase my talent at both places.”

On his future aspirations: “I don’t see myself going into the tag team division. I see myself winning the number one contender’s match that I have June 19th live on pay per view and then I see myself going on to beat whoever is world champion either Jay Lethal or Jay Briscoe. So I see being the Ring of Honor world champion again in my future.”

On ROH’s move to Destination America: “My thoughts are its great. What it means for Ring of Honor is 40-50 million homes get a chance to tune in and watch us do what we do best. That is be the best pure wrestling company on the planet. I think it can open a lot of eyes and help with this continual growth that Ring of Honor has been on the last couple of years. The timing of it couldn’t be better I feel. Sinclair is a company that has a better understanding of what who and what Ring of Honor is. I think Ring of Honor is just starting to hit its stride and I think the next six months is going to be really interesting for us.”

WWE RAW Results – June 22, 2015

Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman Kick Off RAW

The Monday, June 22, 2015 edition of WWE RAW kicks off with The Beast Incarnate himself, along with his advocate, as Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are in the ring.

Heyman, as Lesnar’s typical spokesperson, addresses what transpired last week when the duo returned to WWE RAW.

From there, Heyman turns his attention to the announce team, where Lesnar exits the ring to head to. Lesnar starts with JBL. He shakes JBL’s hand. Now he turns his focus to Michael Cole.

Lesnar approaches an apprehensive Cole, who has his head down in shame and fear. Lesnar extends his hand to Cole. Lesnar grabs Cole in a headlock and gives him a noogie. He sits Cole down and pats his head like a dog as the fans cheer wildly, before Lesnar re-enters the ring.

Heyman says that after what Lesnar just did with the announcers, his client has fulfilled the terms of his return, which was to apologize to them. Heyman says on their behalf that they accept Lesnar’s apology.

From there, Heyman turns his attention to Lesnar’s next victim — WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Heyman goes on to talk about some of Rollins’ accomplishments, including sneaking his way into becoming WWE World Heavyweight Champion by cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase during Lesnar’s match with Roman Reigns at WrestleMania.

Heyman warns Rollins that he has an all-expense paid, one-way ticket to “Suplex City …bitch!” The crowd pops huge for that. Heyman says the WWE Universe is dieing for someone to beat Rollins. Heyman promises that Lesnar will do exactly that.

Lesnar’s music hits as he and his advocate — Heyman — exit the ring and head up the ramp and to the backstage area. On that note, we head to our first mid-match commercial break of the evening.

Dean Ambrose vs. Kane

When we return from our first commercial break of the evening, “The Lunatic Fringe” Dean Ambrose makes his way out to the ring. Out next is his opponent in this one-on-one contest, Kane.

The bells sounds and here we go with our first match of the evening. Early on, the bigger and stronger Kane uses his power to dominate the former Shield member until eventually the speed game becomes a factor and “The Lunatic Fringe” takes over control of the offense.

Ambrose knocks Kane out to the floor and once back in the ring, hits a big leg-drop off the top rope while Kane is hanging over the middle rope, ala Rampage being knocked out by Wanderlei Silva in their second PRIDE fight. MY apologies for the non-universal reference.

“The Lunatic Fringe” continues to go to work on the big red monster as we head to a mid-match commercial break.

We’re back from the break and while Ambrose is still delivering some offensive punishment, it doesn’t take long before Kane takes control of the action.

Kane delivers some additional punishment until Ambrose starts taking over control of the match. As Ambrose sets Kane up for his “Dirty Deeds” finishing move, WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins’ theme music hits to cause the distraction to Ambrose.

Ultimately, this leads to Kane hitting Ambrose with a chokeslam. 1-2-3. Kane wins. After the match, we head to our next commercial break of the evening.

Winner: Kane

Former WWE Trainer Dr. Tom Prichard On His Awful WWE Gimmick, Iron Sheik & More

Former WWE trainer Dr. Tom Prichard recently spoke with Marc Madison of News Hub to talk about a number of topics. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On training under The Iron Sheik: “What happened was I was working in the wrestling office and when I was a kid during the summer and there was this football player wanted to try wrestling and every Friday before the matches, Gary Hart, he was the booker at the time and would bring one of the boys in with him from Dallas and talk with Paul that Friday afternoon around his matches. One Friday afternoon Gary brought The Iron Sheik who was wrestling as Mohamed Farooq back then and the football player came in and I always brought workout gear with me anyway in my trunk.”

On teaming with the late Chris Adams: “Chris was definitely a talented guy. He was be a really good guy and he could be a really intense guy. So we were both pretty young. He was probably about two years older than me. I was 20 and he was 22, I suppose. Just being at that state in your career and that young and he just came over from England and I came from Texas to California. We both hadn’t experienced a whole lot of life yet. I think we grew in the sense that we were two young guys in L.A having a pretty good time. That’s my experiences with Chris.”

On being as part of The BodyDonnas in WWE: “It was terrible, it was a really bad time. It wasn’t a great time for professionally or personally in my life. At that time it was a gig and it was still in wrestling. It was terrible. I hated every minute of it. I liked working with Chris but the rest of the gig was just really bad. It was my fault it happened like that. But that’s what happened. We can’t go back and change it and it was not the best time of my life or my career. You had to make the best of a situation or otherwise I would have had no job and no gig and that’s not where I was at yet. I had just come off a run and still had long hair and had to put it under a shield and a crew cut was just really awkward. It was uncomfortable for a lot of reasons. It just wasn’t a good time. That’s what the BodyDonnas were for. It just wasn’t a good place to be.”

Tough Enough: Paige And Hulk Hogan On Lack Of Interaction With Contestants And More

“Tough Enough” returns to the USA Network tomorrow night (23rd of June) with a special “Tough Talk” airing on the WWE Network immediately following hosted by The Miz.

Paige and Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan are coaches on the new season and spoke with Channel Guide Magazine about a variety of topics including taking their role seriously and being the “bad cop”.

“This is placed as an immediate opportunity, but they won’t last long even if they do make it through Tough Enough and are picked as the next WWE superstar if they are a poser,” Hogan said.

“I can tell you if they are not for real, they will not last long. Once you get in the schedule is brutal, the lifestyle is brutal.”

“I’ve seen John Cena go from India to California and back to Japan and then ‘Good Morning America’ on no sleep and wrestle and get a workout done. There is the choice if you are going to eat, sleep or do a workout.”

“Of course, John works out and then he will eat and worry about sleep later. It might be postured as an immediate opportunity, which it is. However, if they don’t want to fit into the lifestyle, and if they don’t want to work hurt or handle the schedule, they won’t last long.”

The pair also spoke about how up until now they’ve had very little interaction with this year’s group of contestants but actually like that. Hulk said that it adds to the mystique and allows for more groveling when voting begins.

Paige explained that when the show airs on Tuesday, she doesn’t think they’re going to be very friendly and joked that she might be the “Simon Cowell” of the group because of her English accent but added that they all have the ability to turn “bad cop”.
