RAW Viewership Declines For Third Week In A Row

The Aril 25th edition of WWE RAW averaged 3,120,000 viewers on the USA Network. The third hour of RAW dropped below 3 million viewers for the second week in a row. RAW viewership has been decreasing weekly since the post-WrestleMania 32 episode, which averaged 4,094,000 viewers and saw Shane McMahon take control of the show.

The first hour of RAW averaged 3,263,000 viewers, the second hour averaged 3,184,000 viewers, and the final hour averaged 2,938,000.

Jack Swagger Says WrestleMania Will Go To The UK, Speaks On Meeting Kurt Angle

Former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jack Swagger says WrestleMania will take place in the United Kingdom sooner or later. In an interview with TheSportBible.com, Swagger said that the UK is WWE’s second-biggest market outside of the United States, and it only makes sense to host their biggest pay-per-view of the year there.

“I’d say it’s a case of not if, but when,” Swagger said. “When WrestleMania goes international the first place we’ve got to go is the UK, definitely.”

When asked about his dream opponent, Swagger chose someone not currently on the WWE roster. He says Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle is someone he wants to face, and shared a story about meeting the former WWE headliner.

“I recently met Kurt Angle. We were in Pittsburgh and I was working out with R-Truth and Kurt was in the same gym. So Truth knows him, and he told him I was here and wanted to meet him,” he revealed. “It was just before he did the match at that event with Mysterio with all the boxing and MMA fights on the card (laughs). When I first started watching wrestling, he was the guy I watched ‘cos he was an amateur and an Olympian, and that’s why I watch wrestling, for the technical aspect so yeah, I’d choose Kurt Angle.”

TV Company Reportedly In Talks To Buy TNA

There are now reportedly three bidders in the running to buy TNA. Dave Meltzer reported on Live Audio Wrestling that he’s heard of two new bidders aside from Aroluxe, and one is “TV-based” and would run TNA in a way that could be compared to Turner and WCW. He didn’t mention the name of the company.

Meltzer noted that if this TV company gets TNA, they may want to pull Impact Wrestling from Pop TV in favor of airing it on their own channels. He says TNA’s international syndication deals in the UK and India would be the valuable assets to this bidder. One company that fits the criteria mentioned by Meltzer is Sinclair Broadcasting, where Aroluxe CEO David Johnson worked for 11 years. Sinclair Broadcasting is the parent company of Ring Of Honor.

In last week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Meltzer reported that Dixie Carter had already gone to TNA’s international partners Sony Six in India and Challenge TV in the UK to offer them 10 percent of the company for funding, but they were not interested.

Mick Foley Comments On Chyna Getting In The WWE Hall Of Fame

For those that witnessed Monday Night Raw last night, the WWE opened the show with a graphic of Chyna under complete silence. Then, nearly two-thirds into the show, the WWE finally aired a tribute video to Chyna, which was very-well done.

The response from the WWE Universe was welcomed, especially after the flack the company got for not making Chyna’s recovery a priority in the darker days of her life.

After complaints about how the WWE wouldn’t even mention Chyna, the new conversations is beginning Chyna not getting into the WWE Hall of Fame. While that’s still several months away, it’s only a hot topic right now because she passed away.

While being inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame is a huge honor, it doesn’t define the wrestler. That’s what Mick Foley said on his Facebook page when asked if Chyna should be inducted next year.

“Joanie”, I said. “Being inducted into the Hall of Fame was one of the greatest nights of my life – but it doesn’t define me. Don’t let it define you. You’re a legend in our business, no one can ever take away from you the things you’ve done. Don’t let anyone have the power to tell you whether or not your career was worthy of the Hall of Fame. It was! There will never be another Chyna”

So next year, when the announcements are made, if Chyna is not an inductee, don’t be sad. The real Hall of Fame is inside all of us. It’s a Hall of Fame based on the way superstars made us feel, the smiles they produced, the memories they created for us, the legacies they forged that will stand the test of time. By that standard, Joanie Laurer – Chyna; the 9th Wonder of the World was inducted into the Hall that really matters – our hall of memories – a long, long time ago.

Is the Hardcore Legend right? As an inductee into the WWE Hall of Fame, he has every right to comment on this situation.

Whether Chyna gets inducted or not, that doesn’t take away from the impact she had on the WWE, as well as women in pro wrestling.

Vince McMahon To Announce Who Will Control RAW At Payback

This Sunday at Payback, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will announce who will get control of RAW for good – Shane McMahon or The Authority.

Stephanie returned to WWE TV on last night’s RAW. Shane called Payback the first pay-per-view of a new era in WWE.

Comment and tell us who you think will get control of RAW.

Vince Russo Speaks On Roman Reigns’ Failed Push, ‘It’s All Vince McMahon Knows’

WrestleMania 32 brought out a new side of Roman Reigns. As soon as he won the WWE World Heavyweight championship, Reigns came out with the title and said that he wasn’t a good guy or bad guy, but the guy.

Much to the dismay of WWE fans all around the world, he continues to say it week-after-week.

Alongside Reigns’ new attitude came even more hatred from the WWE Universe. It was the first time since The Miz’s WWE title win at WrestleMania 27. Not even the Rock could save that match.

A lot consider Reigns’ push from the WWE to be a failure. One controversial figure agrees with that logic, as former-WWE employee Vince Russo says, “It’s all Vince McMahon,” while on the Pro Wrestling Illustrated Podcast.

“It’s Vince. In Vince’s mind, it’s Bruno. It’s Backlund. Look at his history. He’s done it over and over and over again . . . Kevin Nash was this killer who beat Bob Backlund in like 8 seconds in Madison Square Garden. I was the editor at the WWF Magazine at the time. Diesel wins the belt. The next thing I know, Vince wants a picture of him on the cover of the WWF Magazine smiling like a Cheshire cat. And I remember arguing with Vince at the time, saying ‘What are you doing? This is not the character.’ And Vince wanted the white bread babyface. From there, it was Shawn Michaels’ turn. I remember Vince had me write every single promo for Shawn when they did the house show promos. Vince wanted every single promo being that white bread babyface promo. And I sat there with Shawn for hours. And it was so difficult and hard for Shawn to do, because he wasn’t that guy.  After that it was the Rock. I’ll never forget. I was sitting in the office—me, The Rock and Vince— the day after The Rock won the title with that corporate swerve. And Vince is sitting there wanting him to go out and cut this white bread, babyface promo. And Rock kept looking at me like, ‘Is this guy serious?’ . . . Here we are with Roman Reigns 25, 30 years later. He’s doing the exact same thing, because Vince, at 70 years old, really believes that the 1970s philosophy is going to work today. . . It’s all he knows. He’s repeating it over and over again. And there’s nobody there with the balls to say, ‘Vince, this does not work in 2016.’”

That may be the most-accurate representation of Roman Reigns’ booking to date. Russo makes great points about the “white bread babyface” in the WWE. Until a few weeks up to WrestleMania, Reigns was making himself look foolish on the microphone.

He never had to pick up the mic to get over, but McMahon wanted it to happen.

Will Reigns’ style of booking change at WWE Payback? There are a lot of theories floating around that Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows will join Reigns. They are only theories, but something like that would give Roman Reigns a new dynamic that could work long-term.

Plus, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will decide whether Shane or Stephanie will control RAW.

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/25/2016 Reaction

The show opened up with Shane McMahon coming out to a huge reaction. He was quickly interrupted by Stephanie McMahon. This is the first time Stephanie has been on WWE programming since Wrestlemania. Stephanie says that this will be Shane’s last night running Monday Night Raw. It is revealed that this Sunday at WWE Payback, Vince McMahon will decide who will running Raw for the foreseeable future. However, Shane McMahon is still in charge tonight and had Stephanie McMahon escorted out of the ring by security. This was a good segment, but I think it would be more interesting if there was a match between Triple H and Shane McMahon for control of the company. That might be something that happens down the line.

Sheamus vs AJ Styles

This was a terrific opening match to the show that was given a ton of time. AJ Styles got the win via the Phenomenal Forearm. After the match, Anderson and Gallows came out to the top of the ramp and gave him AJ Styles a round of applause.

Roman Reigns was shown watching the this backstage. He was joined by the Usos who said they had his back if he needed them. The crowd was heavily booing all three of them and were also chanting “we can’t hear you!” during the segment.

The New Day, the Vaudevillians and Enzo and Cass were all in the ring. The Vaudevillians said that they will become the number one contenders at WWE Payback. Enzo Amore responded with and I quote, “I would like run down the beach into my own arms, but that is impossible”. The New Day says that no matter who wins at Payback, they will still be champions.

The Usos vs Anderson & Gallows

Jay Uso had a taped shoulder due to the attack by Anderson and Gallows last week. The entire match, Anderson and Gallows were targeting the shoulder. Jimmy Uso eventually got in the match but at that point, Jay Uso was taken out of it. Gallows and Anderson then took out Jimmy Uso for the win. After the match, Gallows and Anderson were beating down the Usos when Roman Reigns came out to help. Gallows and Anderson retreated.

Backstage, Anderson and Gallows assured AJ Styles they will not get involved in his match against Roman Reigns unless the Usos interfere. They claimed they just want to make sure it is a fair fight at WWE Payback.

Sami Zayn vs Rusev

This was a good match but the crowd was really quiet during it for some reason. Rusev dominated early, but Sami Zayn made a comeback. Sami Zayn wound up stealing a victory with a roll-up and Lana lost her mind outside the ring. She took off her heels and threw them at Sami Zayn. As Zayn was distracted, Kevin Owens came flying out from backstage and hit him in the back of the head. Kevin Owens stood over Zayn as the crowd booed. I cannot wait for their match at WWE Payback, has the potential to steal the show.

Renee Young was interviewing Apollo Crews backstage when they were interrupted by Stardust. Apollo Crews told Stardust how much his father, Dusty Rhodes, helped him in NXT. Dusty Rhodes game him the name “Apollo”. Stardust said that there are some people not even the great Dusty Rhodes can turn into a star.

Apollo Crews vs Stardust

The crowd was chanting “Cody!” throughout the match, trying to get under Stardust’s skin. This was another one-sided match with Apollo Crews getting the victory. The WWE is clearly building Crews up to be a star, I’m just waiting for them to have him in match that lasts more than a couple minutes.

Dean Ambrose and Chris Jericho had a promo for their match at WWE Payback. It was highly entertaining with Jericho demanding that Dean Ambrose get on his knees and kiss his $1,500 shoes. Ambrose responded by making fun of Jericho’s “Bon Jovi” haircut. Chris Jericho got the upper-hand tonight and put Ambrose into the Walls of Jericho on top of the announce table.

Emma vs Natalya w/ Charlotte on Commentary

This was a quick match with Natalya getting the win over Emma. Natalya won by submission and was staring at Charlotte while she had the Sharpshooter locked in on Emma. Natalya will face Charlotte at WWE Payback for the Women’s Championship.

The WWE aired a video tribute to Chyna after women’s match.

Damien Sandow was supposed to have a match with Baron Corbin but Dolph Ziggler attacked Corbin from behind. Corbin had been attacking Ziggler for the past few weeks and Ziggler finally got a bit of revenge. Ziggler will face Baron Corbin at Payback this Sunday.

The Miz and Cesaro had another promo where they recited movie lines. Cesaro stated that at Payback he is going to make sure the credits roll on the Miz’s Intercontinental Championship reign. Cesaro wound up laying out the Miz with a gigantic upper-cut.

Roman Reigns vs Alberto Del Rio

Gallows and Anderson came out to distract Roman Reigns but it didn’t work. Reigns was still able to pick up the victory over Del Rio. After the match, Gallows and Anderson attacked Roman Reigns. AJ Styles came down to the ring and told them to stop, which led to Reigns hitting the Superman Punch on Styles. Gallows and Anderson began attacking Reigns again but he tossed them out of the ring, only to be hit with a Phenomenal Forearm. Raw ended with Gallows and Anderson laughing outside the ring and AJ Styles stressed out in the ring. The million dollar question is whether Gallows and Anderson will help AJ Styles or wind up costing him his chance at the title this Sunday at Payback. There were rumors all week that Finn Balor was going to make his WWE debut tonight on Raw, that did not happen.

Rusev hits a couple suplexes, but Zayn gets off a clothesline that drops Rusev. Rusev hits a big boot, but Zayn comes back with a quick rollup for the 1-2-3. When Zayn was walking up the ramp, Kevin Owens attacks him from behind.

– Apollo Crews is in the back being interviewed until Stardust interrupts. Crews tells “Cody” he’s glad to meet him, and talks about how much Dusty Rhodes helped him in NXT. Stardust tells him not even the great Dusty Rhodes could make Crews a star.

Apollo Crews def. Stardust: Stardust hits a big swinging neckbreaker early on for a 2 count, and continues the offense on Crews. Ambrose says he’s sorry that Chris paid so much money for his “ugly ass hoes,” and that he’s walking around everywhere wearing a scarf. He hits Jericho with a right hand and they brawl all over ringside. Jericho puts him in the Walls Of Jericho on top of the announce table.

Natalya def. Emma: Charlotte and Ric Flair are out at ringside on commentary. Natalya and Emma go back and forth with Natalya getting most of the offense. Natalya gets her in the sharpshooter for the win via submission.

– A video airs honoring Chyna’s career with WWE.

Baron Corbin vs. Damien Sandow – No Contest: As Corbin is walking down the ramp, Dolph Ziggler jumps him and they brawl all over the entrance area. Referees separate them and Corbin runs to the back.

– The Miz and Maryse are in the ring to cut a promo about Cesaro and how great The Miz is. Cesaro interrupts and says he’s going to take the Intercontinental Championship on Sunday. The Miz acts like he’s walking away, but then runs back at Cesaro. He drops him with a European uppercut and goes to swing him, but Maryse jumps on top of her husband. Cesaro looks at the IC Title and walks to the back.

– Romans Reigns bumps into AJ Styles in the back. They stare each other down and AJ says he’s going to take his title at Payback.

Roman Reigns def. Alberto Del Rio: Roman Reigns gets lots of offense in early on, but Del Rio comes back with a kick that sends him to the outside, then a double foot stomp off of the apron. Back in the ring, Del Rio goes to work on Reigns with some kicks. Reigns comes back with a series of clotheslines and a slap. Del Rio connects with a kick to the face that gets him a 2 count. He hangs him from the turnbuckle and kicks him in the midsection. Reigns avoided the double foot stomp from the top rope, and comes back with a superman punch. The Bullet Club’s music hits and they come out on the ramp, which distracts Reigns long enough for Del Rio to roll him up for a 2 count. Reigns gets up and hits the spear for the 3 count.

Anderson and Gallows hit the ring and beat down Reigns after the match. AJ runs in for the save to pull his friends off of his PayBack opponent. He walks The Bullet Club out of the ring and turns around to talk to Reigns but walks into a Superman punch. Reigns fends off Anderson and Gallows, but AJ comes back with a flying forearm off the top rope to close out the show.

Bret Hart: “No Desire” to Be On TV, Thinks Triple H Will Keep Chyna Out Of HOF

Bret Hart just did a speaking tour in the United Kingdom, and Total Wrestling Magazine has published an article about the the Cardiff, Wales date with some of the key quotes. Hart has been increasingly outspoken lately, and this was no exception, especially when it comes to current events. The Cardiff date was the night after news of Chyna’s death broke, and when Hart was asked about her, he said that “It was sad, I think she should be in the Hall of Fame but I don’t think WWE will ever put her in there. Because of her relationship with Triple H.”

The Hitman also made some news during the show when he discussed his upcoming appearance at WWE Payback in the corner of his niece, Natalya. “I do it to honour Nattie,” he said. “I [have] no desire to be there[,] no desire to be on TV. I’m happy to be there for Nattie but I’ve just had wrist surgery so it’s not a great time. It’ll be great to put Flair in the sharpshooter though.” Hart and Flair have had a rocky relationship over the years, though it seemed as if it had improved as of late. They had previously cornered Natalya and Charlotte against each other for the NXT Women’s Championship tournament final at the first NXT TakeOver card.

Make sure to check out the full article for Bret Hart’s thoughts on the evolution of the WWE women’s division.

Jim Ross Q&A: Shane Running RAW, WWE Raiding Talent & More

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a new batch of Q&A’s at his official website, JRsBarBQ.com. Here are some highlights from the latest installment:

Sami Zayn’s Potential:

“Zayn is a main eventer in waiting and he’s likely not going to be waiting long. Talented, dedicated pro. BTW working stiff isn’t a crime but working in a careless manner is. Don’t believe all that you read or “hear.”

WWE Raiding Talent From Other Promotions:

“Nothing has changed and they are still scouting for new talents that are untrained but the plethora of skilled, indie talent is too good to pass up. Nothing has really changed in my opinion.”

With Shane running RAW, what was the point of his WM32 match against The Undertaker?

“Don’t have an answer for you…sorry. It’s obviously not that big an issue to WWE or they wouldn’t have forsaken their top WrestleMania stipulation after 24 hours.”

The Latest On Major Changes To TNA, Potential Investors & Dixie’s Future With The Company

Following up on the news that TNA is in talks with potential investors, F4Wonline.com reports that people in the company are expecting a deal to be struck in the near future.

Negotiations are heating up and TNA’s financial situation is growing more dire by the month. There is said to be one group that is the most serious candidate, with another interested party considered to be a long shot. The primary company is said to have people on board with experience in the wrestling business.

TNA President Dixie Carter continues to push for a prominent role in the company in the event of a sale, even if the ‘investors’ acquire a majority stake. This has been the main sticking point in all of TNA’s negotiations with investors and has led to several major opportunities falling through already.

Appearances By Shane McMahon Or The Authority Teased For RAW

WWE is teasing possible appearances on RAW by Shane McMahon or The Authority. Shane and Triple H have been added to the European tour, but they were never publicly announced for Monday’s show. Shane is booked for SmackDown and Triple H is booked for several live events.

Here’s what WWE.com has to say about Shane possibly being on RAW:

For two weeks, Shane McMahon has assumed control of Raw, and for two weeks, the show has been astounding, bringing us new Superstars, unexpected returns and even a No. 1 Contenders’ Tag Team Tournament sponsored, naturally, by Booty-O’s.

We haven’t seen The Authority on Monday night’s hottest show since WrestleMania, and Triple H and Stephanie McMahon surely have some strong opinions about Shane-O-Mac’s job performance. Will we see WWE’s Prodigal Son reign once more, or might The Authority put a stop to Shane’s tenure as Raw showrunner?

Triple H hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since WrestleMania 32 on April 3rd.

When Titus O’Neil Will Return To Work For WWE

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0PKBCt5UggA

Titus O’Neil’s suspension officially ended on April 10th, and he will reportedly make his return to work next week. O’Neil has been booked for the April 25th RAW in Hartford, CT. It’s possible he could just be backstage for the event and not appear on TV.

O’Neil was suspended for 60 days after an incident on RAW two months ago, when O’Neil grabbed Vince McMahon unexpectedly while the cameras were live. As previously reported, the reason for WWE’s suspension was to send a message to talent to stop “messing around” and be more “professional.” The company has a certain set of rules they expect talent to follow, especially on TV.

WWE Confirms Two Matches For Tonight’s RAW

WWE’s next stop on their European tour is at the O2 Arena in London for Monday’s RAW. WWE.com has confirmed two Tag Team Titles Contenders tournament semifinals matches for the show, including the Vaudevillains’ RAW debut.

Semi-final tournament matches confirmed for RAW include:

  • The Usos vs. The Vaudevillains
  • Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady vs. The Dudley Boyz

WWE is teasing how Karl Anerson & Luke Gallows’ arrival (and attack on The Usos) will factor in to the tag title scene.

Also scheduled for RAW is Becky Lynch vs. Emma.

More On WWE’s Suspensions Of Adam Rose and Konnor, Paige’s Most Awkward Fan Interaction

– While WWE announced Saturday that Adam Rose and Konnor have each been suspended 60 days effective immediately for a second violation of the company’s Talent Wellness Program, it was the first time WWE had announced a suspension for either wrestler.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, Konnor’s first suspension was in 2006, a year before WWE announced that all violations of the Talent Wellness Program would be made public — he was working as a developmental wrestler at the time in Deep South Wrestling. Meltzer also says Rose was suspended in 2013. WWE, however, never made a public announcement about that suspension. Like Konnor, Rose was a developmental wrestler at the time of his first suspension.

– Paige sounds off on a number of topics in Hot Topic’s “Hot Minute.” When asked about her most awkward fan interaction, she said a fan at WrestleMania Axxess wanted to shake the hand she (Paige) just wiped her nose with.

WWE Teasing Possible Match For Monday’s RAW

On their official preview for Monday’s episode of RAW, WWE.com is teasing a match between Becky Lynch and Emma. Here’s what they had to say in the official preview:

Much like Becky Lynch is now, Emma was once beloved by the WWE Universe – a relationship that, she claims, got her nowhere in WWE. With a ruthless demeanor and a brutal offensive style honed in NXT, Emma is back on the WWE roster, determined to teach The Irish Lass Kicker that “nice girls finish last.”

Viciously defeating Paige on SmackDown, the Australian aggressor aimed to send a pointed message to the fiery fan-favorite. How will Becky Lynch respond on Raw?

Monday’s show takes place at the O2 Arena in London. Join us on Monday night for live RAW coverage and discussion.

Mick Foley Says Triple H Doesn’t Hate Him

After Mick Foley’s teenage son Mickey implied online that Triple H dislikes his father, the WWE Hall of Famer took time to address the longstanding rumor on Facebook.

THIS MAN DOES NOT HATE ME

Despite what you may have heard, I really don’t believe Triple H dislikes me, as my son Mickey implied on his live stream – from which point the story took on a life of its own. Keep in mind, that my son Mickey is on the autism spectrum and while he is a bright and beautiful child, he doesn’t always speak with the same type of filter that most of us naturally have – and as a result, he is much more likely to say exactly what comes into his mind.

Sure, it created something of an awkward position for me – but nothing that is said or done will ever take away from the bond Triple H and I share; the bond of great matches as we were moving up the card in 1997 and 1998, and when we were on top of the card, on top of the cell – and figuratively, on top of the world in 2000. Rumors will come and go. But memories like the ones Triple H and I created will last a lifetime.

It’s been said in the past that Triple H would disparage Foley in creative meetings. Here is what I reported in June 2012 about the rumor:

Wrestling Observer editor Dave Meltzer was asked by a reader during his radio show why WWE has not utilized Mick Foley on television more frequently since his return to the organization in November 2011. He said this is due to Triple H’s lobbying, who is resentful of “The Hardcore Legend.”

Meltzer says Triple H deprecates Foley whenever his name comes up in creative meetings. While Brian Gewirtz, WWE’s Senior Vice President of Creative Writing, feels Foley is creative and a good performer, Triple H thinks otherwise. He says Foley ‘doesn’t look tough’ and can’t be taken seriously as an in-ring performer.

A former WWE creative writer told Power Slam magazine in 2008 under the condition of anonymity that Triple H would disparage Foley whenever he appeared for the company, and in the process, diminish his value in the eyes of Vince and Stephanie McMahon.

“Foley is an out-of-shape nobody,” Triple H was reported as saying by the writer. “No one cares about him at all. Funaki puts more asses in the seats than Foley does. He should pay us for coming on our shows.”

Meltzer believes the real reason Triple H still holds Foley in contempt is because he gets irritated over the consensus of his closest co-workers that his memorable matches with Foley in 2000 “made him a star.”

Ryback Disappointed With Wrestlemania 32 Spot, Might Find “Another World” To Work In

In an interview with Myles, a Dubai radio personality, Ryback revealed that he was disappointed his match with Kalisto for the US Title wasn’t on the main card at Wrestlemania 32. Instead, it was a part of the Kickoff show. Ryback was asked if his loss to United States Champion Kalisto was still an amazing Wrestlemania moment, his answer was very candid.

“To be quite honest, absolutely not. The last 3 WrestleManias have not been great. I’m not going to go into a lot of detail on that but it would’ve been nice to have been on the show where both of us belong. The US Title definitely belongs on there. Hopefully next year, if there is a next year, that it will be a better experience.”

Ryback made it clear that he wants to get back to the main event spot in the WWE. However, he also hinted that he may need to look elsewhere if his role doesn’t change.

“I’ve heard in this business hard work doesn’t always pay off. So maybe The Big Guy has to go find another world where that does pay off.”

Ryback also claims to be the best big guy in the world and that there is nobody in professional wrestling like him. The entire interview is posted below.
