Dusty Rhodes Honored At The WWE Performance Center

WWE Hall of Famer Dusty Rhodes has been honored at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, where he worked closely with so many WWE talents. Cody Rhodes tweeted a photo of a new memorial that’s on display at the facility.

The tribute features a photo of The Dream, the Dusty Tag Team Classic tournament trophy and over a dozen of Dusty’s famous quotes:

“If you ain’t into this match, you’re at the wrong address.”

“I have wined and dined with kings and queens and I have dined in alleys on pork and beans.”

“Get a dream, hold onto it and shoot for the sky.”

“Funky like a monkey.”

“I am the hit-maker, the record-breaker, I got style and grace, a pretty face. I’ll make your back crack, your liver quiver.”

“The man of the hour, the man with the power.”

“Ric Flair, the stratosphere is reserved for you and me.”

“Superstar, when the other wrestlers are smilin’ and jokin’, The Dream be, WOO! Cookin’ and smokin'”

“If ya will!”

“I’m gonna rip his head off and dance down his tonsils.”

“When I was growing up I sure didn’t think 265 lbs. of blue eyed soul would captivate a country like I have.”

“I’m thankful for my polkadots.”

Here’s the photo of the tribute, sent to Cody by a friend at the Performance Center:

Mick Foley On RAW’s Conclusion: What Just Happened?

WWE RAW General Manager Mick Foley was ringside for last night’s Fatal 4 Way main event and even he is scratching his head asking, “WHAT JUST HAPPENED?”

In his latest post on Facebook, Foley says he will get into the how’s, why’s and what’s another time, but for now, he wants to share four takeaways from last night’s show:

1) Despite Triple H’s help, Kevin Owens is a very deserving Universal champion.

2) The color of the #UniversalChampionship really did not mean anything to any of the four guys in the ring last night, and still strikes me as an incredibly silly thing for fans to have been upset about during#SummerSlam

3) Big Cass wrestled the match of his life and didn’t seem out of place AT ALL in a huge main event. This guy is going to be a BIG player in #WWEfor a long time.

4) I really like watching matches from ringside. Remember, I used to hitchhike and take buses and trains to get to Madison Square Garden. Now I get paid to be a fan!

Mick Foley is also wondering if Triple H acted alone. Stephanie McMahon emphatically denies having anything to do with her husband’s actions. But her thirst for power and track record as one half of The Authority puts that claim into question.

Alberto Del Rio Reportedly Pulled From All WWE Shows After His Suspension Is Up

Alberto Del Rio has reportedly been pulled from all WWE live events after his 30-day suspension is up.

The former WWE Champion has had a rocky run with WWE since returning to the company last October. After a big United States Championship win over John Cena the night of his surprise return, Del Rio floundered with Zeb Colter as part of the MexAmerica gimmick. He’d later be part of the short-lived League of Nations stable, often looking highly disinterested on television.

His romantic relationship with Paige hasn’t done him any favorite with management either, as evidenced by them being drafted to separate brands before both of them were suspended for wellness policy violations with a 24-hour period.

Dave Meltzer noted on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio:

“So, Del Rio has been pulled from, after the 30 days are up, he’s in fact been pulled from all shows. So you can probably read into that exactly what you’re reading into that.”

Alberto Del Rio reportedly has an “out” clause in his WWE contract that would allow him to leave after only 1 year. With Del Rio suspended until mid-September just weeks before that 1-year mark, we may have seen the last of him in WWE.

– WWE’s new cruiserweight division is set to launch on the September 19th edition of Monday Night RAW. In addition to names such as Rich Swann, Noam Dar, Brian Kendrick and TJ Perkins, fellow Cruiserweight Classic competitors Johnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa will also be part of the division.

It’s worth noting that local ads in Virginia are also promoting Randy Oron vs. Bray Wyatt for the show.

https://twitter.com/FightOwensFight/status/770505050334621696

Finn Balor congratulated Kevin Owens on Monday night, telling his former rival, We have been through it all together. I’ve no doubt we will go through it all again.”  The champ has since responded:

WWE also posted this photo of Kevin Owens being photographed with the Universal Championship.

Cesaro Playing Up WWE’s Injury Storyline

Following Cesaro’s loss to Sheamus on RAW last night, WWE is running an injury angle to emphasize the peril of the Swiss Superman going down 0-2 in their best of 7 series.

WWE.com is reporting Cesaro suffered multiple contusions to the lumbar spine. The “injury” allegedly occurred when Sheamus backdropped Cesaro into the turnbuckle before locking him in the Cloverleaf.

Cesaro is playing up the injury on social media:

https://twitter.com/WWECesaro/status/770467391235055616

Cesaro will now have to win 4 of the next 5 matches to win the series with Sheamus.

Seth Rollins Confronts Stephanie McMahon After RAW (Video)

After Monday’s WWE RAW went off the air, Seth Rollins confronted commissioner Stephanie McMahon about what transpired during the Fatal 4 Way main event.

The conclusion of the match saw Triple H make a surprise return and help Rollins eliminate Roman Reigns, only to turn on Rollins and help Kevin Owens capture the WWE Universal Championship.

The Authority’s betrayed golden boy asked Stephanie, “What just happened? After everything we’ve been through.” Stephanie maintained her innocence, pointing in Rollins’ face and screaming that she was completely unaware of her husband’s plot.

One thing is clear: Finn Balor’s injury has led WWE to go in a completely different direction than what was originally planned for the next several months. The shocking conclusion of last night’s RAW presents a wide variety of new storyline opportunities. Kevin Owens was true to his heel character and cheated to win, but was clearly the fan favorite in the Fatal 4 Way and was met with “You deserve it” chants as he celebrated after the match. Seth Rollins could be on the verge of a babyface turn after being screwed out of the Universal Championship and Finn Balor getting taken out of action until early 2017.

Discussion: How would you book Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins in the coming months? Was Stephanie McMahon really in the dark about what Triple H had planned, or will Kevin Owens be the new face of a reformed Authority?

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction (8/29)

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Big Cass and Roman Reigns in the ring. Corey Graves was interviewing the four men whom will be fighting for the Universal Championship in the main event on Raw. Seth Rollins interrupted Graves and began to brag about himself for several minutes. Seth Rollins then donated his speaking time to Kevin Owens. Kevin Owens then claimed that the seating in the ring resembled a therapy session. Owens then shouted “Hi my name is Kevin and I want to be the Universal Champion.” Kevin Owens then insulted everyone. Big Cass interrupted and had a brutal insult towards Seth Rollins. Cass told Rollins that no matter what he has been telling himself the past few years, size does matter. Corey Graves then asked Roman Reigns how he would come out victorious tonight and Reigns stood up and punched Kevin Owens in the face. Reigns then tossed Big Cass out of the ring and hit a Superman Punch on Rollins. Reigns then stood next to the Universal Championship, while Rollins and Big Cass recovered outside the ring. Kevin Owens was barking at Reigns from the entrance ramp but didn’t get back into the ring.

Reaction: I thought this was a really great promo to open up the show. The Fatal-4 Way for the Universal Championship is a hell of a main-event. Big Cass was able to address the fact that nobody expects him to win tonight, but he also looked like he belonged in this promo. Reigns said nothing and just beat everybody up. That is all he has ever had to do in the first place.

Chris Jericho vs Neville

Neville controlled this match right from the beginning. Jericho was trying to avoid Neville and rolled outside the ring. He then began to scream “shut up!” at the fans and Neville turned him around and kicked him in the stomach. Neville then tossed Jericho in the ring and Jericho hilariously tried to scamper away while on his knees. Jericho then tried to hide behind the referee to avoid Neville. It didn’t work as Neville stormed in and continued with the kicks to the mid-section. The referee had to break this up because it was taking place in the corner. It was at this moment where Jericho poked Neville in the eye as the referee was pulling him away. Jericho then took control of the match and hit a few stomps on Neville. When Raw returned from a commercial break, Jericho was still in control as he hit a Springboard off the ropes on Neville. Eventually, Neville was able to battle back and hit a Standing Shooting Star Press. Jericho once again tried to avoid Neville outside the ring but that didn’t work as Neville hit him with an awesome Springboard Moonsault. The action spilled back into the ring and Jericho went for the Codebreaker but Neville blocked it. Neville went for the Red Arrow but Jericho rolled out of the way. Jericho then brought back the Liontamer and Neville had no choice but to tap out.

Winner: Chris Jericho

Reaction: This was a very good match. Neville’s athleticism really shined in this match. I think this iteration of Chris Jericho is very entertaining. Jericho has always been great but I think he is really hitting it out of the park in this run when it comes to his character.

Nia Jax vs Hyan

Another enhancement match. Nothing to see here. I’m just waiting for someone to come out and challenge either Nia Jax or Braun Strowman.

Winner: Nia Jax

Sami Zayn vs Jinder Mahal

Jinder Mahal got in a lot of offense in this match but eventually Zayn hit the Helluva Kick for the victory. This was a quick match, but decent enough. I find it strange that the WWE cannot come up with a storyline for Sami Zayn.

Winner: Sami Zayn

The New Day & Bayley vs The Club & Dana Brooke

This match was set up by two promos earlier in the night. The New Day were hanging out with Bayley backstage when Dana Brooke interrupted. This led to them setting up this match and a promo from The Club later in the night. The Club announced that they were retiring as doctors and are now entering the retirement business. Last week they retired the Dudley Boyz and this week they are working on retiring the New Day. They had an acronym that displayed on the screen and it spelled out “Old Fart” in reference to the Dudley Boyz. Dana Brooke then appeared in front of them and snapped on a rubber glove. Bayley came down to the ring with the New Day wearing the silly unicorn headband. The New Day had control of this match early on but when Raw came back from commercial, The Club had taken over. Kofi was trapped in the ring and couldn’t tag in Big E. Eventually, Kofi battled back but only Bayley was on the apron. Kofi tagged in Bayley and she started to beat down Dana Brooke. Big E took out Karl Anderson outside the ring but Gallows hit him with a boot to the face. Bayley then pulled down the top rope and Kofi went flying onto Gallows. Dana Brooke tried to roll-up Bayley but Bayley kicked out at two. Bayley then hit the Belly-to-Bayley on Dana Brooke for the victory.

Winners: The New Day & Bayley

Reaction: This was a solid match. I found the interview with Sasha Banks before the match to be very interesting. Charlotte joined commentary for the match and fired back at Banks. Charlotte claimed that neither Ric Flair or Dana Brooke were ringside for her match against Banks at Summerslam. Charlotte went on to state that she is not a coward and Sasha Banks shouldn’t have any excuses for losing her match at Summerslam.

Best of 7 Match: Cesaro vs Sheamus

Sheamus currently holds a 1-0 lead in the best of seven series. The match started out back and forth. The crowd chanted “you look stupid” at Sheamus. Sheamus was selling an elbow injury and Cesaro took advantage. Sheamus then called the referee over and was complaining about his elbow. Cesaro showed no mercy and continued to target the injured elbow. After the negative chants towards Sheamus, the crowd became silent. When Raw came back from commercial, Sheamus had taken control of the match. Sheamus was applying a Sleeper Hold but Cesaro battled back. Cesaro went to hit a move off of the ropes but Sheamus hit the Irish Curse. Cesaro responded with a Springboard Corkscrew Uppercut. Cesaro went for the Cesaro Swing but Sheamus blocked it. Sheamus tried to pin Cesaro while his feet were on the ropes but Cesaro still kicked out. Cesaro then hit 11 uppercuts on Sheamus. The action spilled outside the ring and Sheamus sent Cesaro flying into the turnbuckle. Sheamus then rolled Cesaro into the ring and locked the Cloverleaf on Cesaro for the submission victory.

Winner & Leading the Best of 7 Series 2-0: Sheamus

Reaction: Sheamus and Cesaro put on yet another good match. Having said that, the crowd was absolutely dead for this match. That was my concern for this best of seven series. If the crowd isn’t into the matches, it will be very hard to pull off five more matches in the series. I’m guessing the series will go seven and in my opinion it is off to a good start. Unfortunately, the crowd doesn’t seem to be all that excited about these matches so far.

The WWE then aired a tribute to the recently passed WWE Hall of Famer, Harry Fujiwara. He was known to the WWE Universe as Mr. Fuji and spent more than 30 years in the WWE.

Braun Strowman vs Americo

This was another enhancement match that saw Strowman getting the victory in under a minute. Eventually Strowman will face someone actually on the Raw roster, right?

Stephanie McMahon came down to the ring to address Brock Lesnar hitting Shane McMahon with the F-5 at Summerslam. Paul Heyman interrupted and came down to the ring. The crowd began to chant “ECW!” and Stephanie McMahon thanked the crowd for reminding her that she purchased ECW years ago. Paul Heyman then offered to pay the $500 fine and pulled out a gigantic bundle of one dollar bills. Heyman began to count out each bill when Stephanie interrupted him. Stephanie claimed that Lesnar crossed the line and Paul Heyman offers nothing to Monday Night Raw. Paul Heyman then apologized in the most sarcastic and condescending way possible. Stephanie McMahon accepted Heyman’s apology and left the ring. Heyman then stood in the ring laughing.

Reaction: The WWE is clearly building something between Shane McMahon, Stephanie McMahon and Brock Lesnar. Stephanie McMahon was simply pretending to care about her brother being attacked by Lesnar at Summerslam. A $500 fine for attacking the commissioner of Smackdown is laughable. I’m looking forward to see where this storyline goes in the future. I’m also curious if Vince McMahon will get involved in the story.

Titus O’Neil vs Darren Young

Titus O’Neil dominated this match early. Darren Young fell on top of a camera outside the ring. The crowd was brutally silent for this match. Darren Young wound up stealing this match with a roll-up. After the match, Darren Young tossed Titus O’Neil out of the ring. Bob Backlund and Darren Young were celebrating the victory but O’Neil ran back into the ring and attacked them both. O’Neil then hit the Clash of the Titus on Darren Young and left the ring.

Winner: Darren Young

Reaction: It is beyond obvious that this feud isn’t working at all. Titus O’Neil attacked a man that is close to 70 years old tonight and the crowd simply didn’t care.

Mick Foley was backstage with Stephanie McMahon. Foley stated that he should have been out there and should have had Stephanie’s back while confronting Paul Heyman. Stephanie shrugged it off and claimed that she could take care of herself. Seth Rollins showed up and stated that tonight he is going to bring the Universal Championship home. Stephanie McMahon then told Rollins that tonight is his night. Mick Foley also announced that all friends and tag teams were banned from ringside in the now Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match for the Universal Championship. The promo ended with Stephanie McMahon and Seth Rollins embracing in a hug while Mick Foley stood there awkwardly.

WWE Universal Championship Fatal 4-Way Elimination Match: Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens vs Big Cass vs Seth Rollins

Enzo joined Big Cass for his entrance. Big Cass then called his three opponents SAWFT. As soon as the match started, Kevin Owens rolled outside the ring and rested upon the barricade. All four Superstars were then fighting outside the ring. Rollins and Cass got back into the ring while Reigns and Owens brawled outside. Rollins went for a Suplex on Big Cass but Cass countered into a Suplex of his own on Rollins. Foley and Stephanie were ringside for the match. Cass and Reigns traded punches in the ring. The crowd booed every time Roman connected with a punch. Reigns went for the Superman Punch but Cass caught him. Cass then hit a massive boot to the face on Reigns that sent him flying outside the ring. Owens and Rollins brawled outside the ring and Owens laid Rollins out. Owens and Big Cass then turned around and Reigns sent himself flying on top of them from inside the ring. Owens went to go for the Cannonball on Big Cass but Rollins dragged him out of the ring. Rollins then sent Owens flying into the barricade. Reigns was picking up momentum. He hit Clotheslines on both Rollins and Owens but Cass drilled him with a kick to the face. Big Cass hit the Empire Elbow on Rollins in the middle of the ring. Reigns then hit a Superman Punch on Cass. Kevin Owens then hit a Frog Splash on Big Cass and eliminated him.

It was now down to Owens, Rollins and Reigns to determine who will obtain the WWE Universal title. Reigns was dominating Rollins when Raw returned from a commercial break. Reigns went for a Superman Punch but Rollins countered into a Falcon Arrow. Rollins launched himself from the top rope but Reigns hit a massive Superman Punch. Rollins kicked out at two and Reigns looked shocked. Owens then got back into the action and hit a Cannonball on both Rollins and Reigns. Owens went for another Cannonball on Reigns but Roman hit him with a Superman Punch. Owens kicked out at two. Owens went for a Pop-Up Powerbomb but Reigns countered and punched him in the face. Owens then rolled out of the ring. The crowd broke out in a “this is awesome!” chant. Reigns then hit went outside the ring and hit another Superman Punch on Owens. Reigns followed it up with a Spear on Rollins outside the ring. Triple H then showed up and hit a Pedigree on Reigns outside the ring. Triple H then rolled Rollins back in the ring and Rollins pinned Reigns.

It was now down to Rollins and Kevin Owens. Triple H then rolled Owens back into the ring. Triple H was about to hit Owens with a Pedigree but he let go and hit Seth Rollins with one instead. Kevin Owens looked shocked but took advantage of the situation. Owens then pinned Rollins and for the victory. After the match, Triple H got right in Foley’s face. Stephanie McMahon looked shocked and Triple H didn’t even acknowledge her. Triple H then left through the crowd.

Winner & New Universal Champion: Kevin Owens

Reaction: The match itself was very good. Triple H showing up made it awesome because I didn’t see that coming at all. This is what happens when the WWE has interesting storylines, everything is better. The stench from Summerslam is behind us and tonight’s Raw was very good. I’m already looking forward to next week’s show.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw? Let us know in the comments below.

Kevin Owens Is The New WWE Universal Champion (Video)

Kevin Owens is your new WWE Universal Champion.

Owens defeated Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Big Cass in the Fatal 4 Way main event of Monday’s RAW to capture the gold. He didn’t do it alone, however. After Big Cass had been eliminated, Triple H appeared out of nowhere delivered a pedigree to Roman Reigns, to the delight of the crowd. He threw Roman Reigns back in the ring and Seth Rollins got the pin, narrowing it down to only two competitors.

Triple H got Owens from outside and and threw him back in the ring. Just as it looked like The Game was setting Seth Rollins up for the win, he shocked the world and delivered a pedigree to Rollins. The crowd went absolutely nuts. A stunned Kevin Owens seized the moment, covered Rollins and scored the pinfall victory.

Owens and Triple H embraced in the ring while Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley looked on in complete disbelief. The crowd chanted “You Deserve It” as Kevin Owens celebrated his win.

Finn Balor, the man who won the Universal Championship just a week ago but had to forfeit the title after 24 just hours due to injury, was quick to congratulate Kevin Owens on his big moment.

The August 29, 2016 edition of Monday Night RAW aired live on the USA Network from Houston, TX at the Toyota Centre.

– RAW opens up with Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big Cass all sitting in the ring around the Universal Title belt. Corey Graves is in there to interview them, but Rollins quickly takes over and says he’s clearly the favorite to win tonight. Owens gets the mic next and cuts promos on his competitors. More On Lesnar vs. Orton Rematch, WWE Confirms

As reported earlier, The Allstate Arena near Chicago announced today that the Brock Lesnar vs. Randy Orton rematch would happen at the 9/24 WWE house show from the venue. Paul Heyman and Randy Orton later confirmed the match on Twitter and WWE has now made it official, as seen below.

It’s very interesting that the Saturday night house show is just one night before the RAW Clash of Champions PPV in nearby Indianapolis. Neither Lesnar nor Orton are scheduled for that pay-per-view. F4Wonline.com notes that the 9/24 house show is not currently scheduled to air on the WWE Network, despite speculation.

Randy Orton and Brock Lesnar rematch announced for Sept. 24 Live Event in Chicago

The Beast and The Viper are going to war again. Just more than a week after a controversial TKO loss to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Randy Orton confirmed on Twitter that he will receive a rematch against The Conqueror at the WWE Live Event in Chicago, Illinois, Saturday, Sept. 24.

The match at SummerSlam was arguably Lesnar’s most savage performance since returning to WWE in 2012, and one of the most agonizing defeats for The Apex Predator in some time. The Beast laid into Orton with a barrage of strikes that busted him open and forced WWE officials to call the match off, awarding the victory to Lesnar.

Orton received 10 staples as a result of Lesnar’s assault, and The Beast was fined by Raw Commissioner Stephanie McMahon for his actions. Hopefully, she has her checkbook ready for “The Rematch.” Come to think of it, SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon might want to set a few dollars aside, too. Orton does not take well to being upstaged, and it’s just as likely that Lesnar ends up on the receiving end of some ruthless aggression this time around.

Be sure to head to WWE.com’s Events section for ticket availability and special VIP packages to witness “The Rematch” in person.

Ryback: Vince McMahon Wanted Me to Squash “Little Twerp” AJ Styles At WrestleMania 32

Ryback released the premiere episode of his podcast on Monday and opened up about his departure from WWE. Ryback revealed that after winning the Intercontinental Championship in 2015, he was offered a new contract that he wasn’t happy with. Ryback says the money wasn’t necessarily the issue, and the contract would have paid out $1.5 million over three years.

Ryback said he feels the way things have “always been done” in pro wrestling aren’t always right, and specifically mentioned that talent having to pay their own travel expenses can become very pricey. Ryback claims that dishonesty from WWE management about booking and merchandising opportunities lead to him being disgruntled. He says that magazines had offered him covers, but WWE nixed them in favor of Roman Reigns.

The now-former WWE star claimed that company Chairman Vince McMahon himself told Ryback that he would be the top heel in the company if he listened to McMahon’s instructions and delivered his promos exactly as scripted. Ryback also claimed that he was told he would face AJ Styles at WrestleMania 32, and that McMahon’s exact words were he would “squash that little twerp.” Ryback ended up facing Kalisto on the WrestleMania pre-show instead.

He says towards the end of his run he stopped communicating with McMahon because he had been lied to and “betrayed” too many times, and that he isn’t worried about burning his bridge with the company.

Ryback says these issues aren’t exclusive to him and that other talent goes through the same thing. Ryback feels like WWE’s goal should be making sure that all of their wrestlers’ brands are as strong as possible.

WWE Teasing Sasha Banks Will Be Part Of Tonight’s RAW Pre-Show

It appears Sasha Banks could be back on WWE television a lot sooner than expected. The Boss has been doing a bunch of media appearances in Houston this morning to promote tonight’s RAW from the Toyota Center. John Cena Taking Extended Time Off Soon, Hackers Target Kevin Owens

– John Cena will be taking another extended hiatus from WWE later this year to film the second season of American Grit for FOX. Production begins in mid-October and is scheduled to last for approximately two and a half months, which would keep him away from WWE for the remainder of 2016.

– Kevin Owens shut down his Instagram account due to hacking attempts. During SummerSlam weekend, I attended Sam Roberts’ live podcast at Caroline’s in New York City and Owens was one of the guests. Owens said he barely uses Twitter anymore because he was amazed at how bad the trolling was. He understands people are entitled to their opinions but several of them were saying very personal things about him and his family. Apparently he is still the target of a lot of negativity on social media.

Bill Goldberg: “Wheels In Motion” For WWE Return

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bc6EIcrKBoU

After months of speculation stemming from his inclusion in WWE 2K17, it sounds like former World Champion Bill Goldberg is officially in talks with WWE about returning to the company.

TMZ Sports reports that “the wheels are in motion” for the former WCW star to appear on WWE television. During promotional appearances for WWE 2K17, Goldberg teased that he’s interested in stepping back in front of WWE cameras. During Gamescom 2016 in Germany, Goldberg called out current WWE star Brock Lesnar, and Lesnar returned the favor on the red carpet of 2K Sports’ WWE 2K17 launch party.

“Life’s too short to dwell upon past differences,” Goldberg said to TMZ about his past disagreements with WWE.

Despite not showing interest in returning to the ring in previous years, Goldberg claimed earlier this month that he’s still ready to “rip people’s faces off” in the squared circle. At Gamescom 2016 Goldberg indicated that he’d like to perform for the fans once again, but that the decision is ultimately up to WWE management.

Report: Dixie Carter Completely Out Of Power At TNA, May Be Gone

With Billy Corgan taking over as the new President of IMPACT Ventures, former TNA President Dixie Carter has been completely removed from the company’s power structure.  Carter now serves as the company’s “Chairman and Chief Strategy Officer” but has virtually no control over the creative direction or day-to-day operations.

Dave Meltzer stated on Wrestling Observer Radio “Dixie’s pretty much out of it now out of power completely, she is completely out of power no matter what’s said, but she may be gone.”

At the latest round of Impact Wrestling tapings from Orlando, Dixie Carter filmed a few segments but left the building immediately after and didn’t stay around for every taping that week. Everybody took notice of Dixie leaving early and “There were some things said that were not so great about her.”

Billy Corgan has already brought in Grammy Award winning singer/musician Sheri Shaw to produce new theme songs for TNA wrestlers. While it may not seem like a huge deal, this is a significant change symbolically because Dixie Carter’s husband Serg Salinas had been handling that job in recent years.

During recent media interviews, Billy Corgan has begun laying out his vision for the future of TNA. It’s clear that a significant overhaul is being planned, but first he has to stabilize the financial side and that will take some time. The general consensus is that Impact Wrestling has been very good this year and there is a lot of optimism regarding the new leadership.

Kenny Omega: WWE Using Ibushi As A Junior Is Embarrassing, WWE’s Inferior In-Ring Product

New Japan Pro Wrestling star and Bullet Club member Kenny Omega recently spoke about winning this year’s G1 Climax tournament, how different Japanese wrestling is from WWE and why he thinks it’s embarrassing for Kota Ibushi to be booked as a junior/cruiserweight in WWE.

Omega has tremendous respect for WWE Cruiserweight Classic competitor Kota Ibushi. He’s been “chasing” Ibushi for almost a decade now and feels that he finally surpassed him by winning the G1 Climax Tournament. However, he can’t believe Ibushi is content working as a ‘junior’ in WWE and looks forward to wrestling him back in New Japan.

“There are precious few people that can change the face of pro wrestling. It may even just be the two of us. So I’m going to stay here in New Japan, doing my best and waiting for him,” Omega said. “(At the G1 finals) I finally surpassed him. I was chasing Ibushi for eight years and finally outgrew him. I hope that’s inspiration for him, right? It’s not like I could go to WWE and be a junior, there’s no point in that. For him to go do that, be a junior in WWE, isn’t that embarrassing? I can do so much more here.”

He elaborated on the differences between Japanese Wrestling and WWE. There’s no question that WWE has the best production values of any pro wrestling promotion. The pyro and music are the best, but Omega thinks WWE uses slick presentation to mask the fact that their in-ring product is inferior to New Japan.

“For a wrestler there’s obvious pride involved. People are noticing you, for me to have a match of the year, it says that people hold my original style in high esteem. But it isn’t just for me, but Japanese wrestling at large. There are a lot of fans who think WWE is the top of the pile. Obviously their pyro, music, production is the best. But from where I stand, in ring isn’t the best. It’s fun to watch such a high budget production, but they use that to hide a lot of weaknesses.”

WWE RAW Preview: Fatal 4 Way To Crown A New Universal Champion

History will be made at tonight’s WWE RAW, which takes place from Houston, TX at the Toyota Center. After Finn Balor had to surrender the new Universal Championship last week just 24 hours into his reign, a new champion will be crowned.

Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens and Big Cass won qualifying matches last week to earn a shot in tonight’s title match. Reigns and Rollins have worn World championship gold before while Kevin Owens and Big Cass have the opportunity to reach the next level and hold one one of the most prestigious titles in WWE.

WWE.com’s official RAW preview also focuses on the following items:

Why Okada Was At WWE SummerSlam, Backstage Photo

There’s been a lot of speculation on why top NJPW star Kazuchika Okada was backstage for NXT Takeover and WWE SummerSlam in Brooklyn but as he’s signed to a New Japan deal, he legally cannot talk with WWE.

Okada was reportedly there just as a guest of new NXT Champion Shinsuke Nakamura.

Below is a photo of the two hanging out with Hideo Itami at SummerSlam:

Cody Rhodes Talks About Life After WWE, Dusty Wanting Him To Leave Back In 2012

Former WWE Superstar Cody Rhodes called into Busted Open this week with Doug Mortman and Larry Dallas to discuss his WWE departure, working on the independent scene, souring on the Stardust gimmick and living life with a “What would Dusty do?” attitude. Here are the highlights of what he said about:

If he was scared to finally leave WWE:

“So, little-known fact, I had kind of planned for some time that I would be leaving. My father actually wanted me to ask for my release after WrestleMania 28 in Miami. I remember him telling me and it took me, gosh, five years to follow his advice. Yeah, I’d say it’s scary, but maybe it’s not scary at all now that I think about it. Just because I know what I’m capable of doing and I know what I’m capable of not. I didn’t want to be delusional about it. I was very familiar with my own skill-set and I wasn’t able to put it on display where I was at, so why stay? Why stay when there are these opportunities. I didn’t get the opportunity to wrestle Kurt Angle in WWE; I got to wrestle Kurt Angle in Northeast Wrestling and not only Kurt Angle, Mike Bennett – the shining star of TNA, the ‘Miracle’ Mike Bennett – the night before. And then Sunday, Sami Callihan, who is just building a massive brand for himself all without the machine. You mention Brian Anthony, who’s kind of the young guy on the totem pole – well, that’s the one you have to look out for – and Ricky Steamboat’s involved with those matches. Those matches weren’t happening for me in WWE, so why stay?”

Not wanting to stay in WWE just for the money:

“I’m rich already. I don’t need the money (laughing). I worked for them for ten years and they paid me really, really well. I absolutely appreciate what you’re saying because there are those who stay with the mentality… the ‘pin me, pay me’ mentality. That don’t work for me, bud. This was never about the money. It was about those moments – you know, I’m from a wrestling family so I grew up wanting to have moments like I saw my father have and if I can’t chase those, then I’m not doing the right job. That connection he had as a performer with the fan – the real, authentic connection – even when you only get that in fleeting situations, it’s the best feeling in the world for a performer. So it made it easy for me.”

Wanting to return to being Cody Rhodes after Dusty’s passing:

“It worked…when the fans started chanting ‘Cody’ and I always thought, okay, so they’re chanting ‘Cody’, it gets under the skin of Stardust. Stardust is like this symbiote that got into the blood of the original Cody Rhodes and the fans remember, so someone’s going to knock the Stardust out of Cody, essentially. I always thought they went hand-in-hand so I thought, okay, it’s time for me to move on. The fans are ready, they’re the ones chanting it, and – especially after my Dad’s passing – it’s almost a little awkward for them to watch this character portrayal. This method acting, kind of – it’s awkward to them. They know who I am. They know what I’ve been through. I didn’t feel like I was saddled with it until my Dad’s passing and then it just seemed like just no one was hearing what I was hearing as far as the fans wanting me to come back as Cody. And it’s real easy for a talent to become kind of disillusioned like, ‘Oh, well, they want it. They want it. Hear ‘em?’ and sometimes it’s not the fans that people listen to the most and that’s when things don’t go well. In this case, though, it all led to where I am now so no harm, no foul.”

Keeping a promise to his father to never use his passing in storyline:

“Here’s the issue: I didn’t want to be anything after my Dad’s passing. I didn’t want to be Stardust, but I didn’t want to be Cody Rhodes either, because – it’s a very long story that I shared with my buddy the other night and some people know this. My Dad despised the angle between – I want to say it was Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton, where they mentioned Eddie Guerrero and they mentioned his passing and they used it as a vessel. A lot of people said, ‘Oh, well, Eddie would love this.’ He might have, but I never, ever, ever will forget – my Dad and I were watching Raw at the time. My Dad said, ‘Do not let anyone ever say I would’ve loved something.’ And he was just talking about, in general, for when the day comes that he’s not around and that stuck with me forever. I remember he went on a whole tirade that night. He was like, ‘How do they know for sure?’ and he was one of those who I had to beg him to come back for Battleground. I had to beg him to come back for anything. He really wanted his body of work to stand on its own and speak for itself. So when he passed, no one presented me with the kind of option of, hey, let me rally the flag and do it for the family. But I personally wouldn’t have been comfortable doing it because I had built my previous nine, ten years there on trying to be anything, but Dusty’s son so it would be cheap, it would be hollow for me to have done it then. Would it have worked? Probably, but I didn’t want to do that because I love my Dad too much to bring his name up on TV and say I’m doing it for him when the last nine, ten years of my career, I had been doing it for me, you know?”

The void left by Dusty’s passing and the personal nature of it fans don’t seem to grasp:

“It’s Dusty Rhodes, man. He’s one of the Mount Rushmore of professional wrestling and if you disagree, I would tell you to look into what he did for cable television. Without Dusty and without Vince going at each other in the 1980’s, the advent of cable and pay-per-view would not have happened the way it happened. So I always consider him from both a biased family member, but also from an objective wrestling fan standpoint, I consider him one of wrestling’s Mount Rushmore. It’s a void that – I don’t think wrestling fans have had to deal with a loss like this ever. There have been some terrible and tragic losses, but with Dusty, it’s been really unique in how it’s been handled. I don’t know how many times I meet folks and, for whatever reason they think I want to hear this, but they say, ‘I was so sad when your Dad passed away’ and I’m always thinking, you know, no kidding, so was I. It was my Dad. That’s like the number one thing fans say to me in the airport – ‘I’m sorry about your father’ – and I’m like, ‘Well, that’s nice. Thank you, thank you so much, but so am I.’ My mom noticed this because she went to the NWA Legends Fanfest. A lot of people like to tell us how awful losing Dusty was and, as much as we appreciate that, I think people forget I didn’t just lose the ‘American Dream’, the character you knew on television. That was my father. Dusty was semi-retired when I was growing up. He was there for everything I ever did. I caught Dusty taking a picture of me and Rey Mysterio at WrestleMania in Atlanta behind our backs, standing together before my match. He became a really big fan of mine and that’s a different loss than just losing someone you’re familiar with on television, but I do love all the love that surrounds the Dream.”
