Bin Wang’s Debut Announced, WWE Scouting At The Olympics, More

– In addition to Mark Henry, WWE Hall of Famer Gerald Brisco was also in Rio for the Olympics representing WWE this summer. Brisco was there to scout wrestlers for WWE.

– WWE has announced that their first Chinese acquisition Bin Wang will make his in-ring debut at the 9/10 WWE house show in Shanghai, China. He will be facing Bo Dallas. Below is a photo of the two facing off in NYC this weekend and a hype video from Triple H:

– WWE has really upped the number of mainstream sponsorships as of late. Below is the full KFC segment with Dolph Ziggler and The Miz, Miz in a new ad for Domino’s Pizza and a Sami Zayn “Resilience” vignette for Mercury Insurance:

The Dudley Boyz Gone From WWE, Big Reaction Backstage At RAW

The farewell segment on last night’s RAW in Brooklyn with The Dudleyz was not a storyline as the two are legitimately gone from the company.

In recent weeks there were reports going around that Bubba Ray and D-Von had signed new deals with WWE, but word now is that they had just agreed on terms and the deals were never officially executed. Some time in the past seven days, the two sides amicably agreed to part ways.

The segment on RAW involving The Club was not the start of a program between the two teams. It was the Dudley Boyz “doing the honors” on their way out and putting over the tag title contenders.

After Bubba and D-Von returned backstage, they were met with a standing ovation from the entire RAW roster, officials and the McMahons.

The Dudley Boyz will continue running their Team 3D wrestling academy in the Orlando area and could work indy dates for promotions like Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore.

Cesaro Reveals Frustration Backstage At RAW, WWE Cruiserweight Division Updates

– The second match in the “Best of 7” between Cesaro and Sheamus was believed to take place at RAW in Brooklyn last night but it did not. It has been announced for next week’s RAW in Houston.

However, that wasn’t the only reason why Cesaro was frustrated while backstage at RAW last night. In the video above, he talks to Andrea D’Marco and vents about not being included in the WWE Universal Championship Fatal 4 Way qualifying matches, even indicating that he believes Sheamus should have been eligible as well. Cesaro mentions standing in the back watching instead of standing in the ring, in front of the Cesaro section, and doing what he loves, what he lives to do.

– WWE has announced that the RAW-exclusive cruiserweight division will premiere on the 9/19 RAW in Memphis. They have also confirmed that Brian Kendrick, TJ Perkins, Rich Swann and Noam Dar will be in the division. Here is the new cruiserweight promo that aired on RAW:

Post-RAW Update On The Dudley Boyz, Video Of What Happened During Commercial

There’s been no confirmation yet on if The Dudley Boyz’ farewell on RAW was part of a storyline or not. Bubba Ray Dudley made this tweet after RAW, sticking to the idea that they are done:

There’s been a lot of speculation that the farewell on RAW was to set up a new storyline and the interference by The Shining Stars, then Gallows & Anderson, added to that speculation. We also know that Bubba and D-Von both signed one-year contract extensions recently.

On a related note, The Dudleyz were praised by the Barclays Center crowd as they made their way to the back last night. WWE posted this off-air video with what took place during the commercial break:

Bayley RAW Roster Debut Video, Her Backstage Reaction, Triple H Comments

After making her RAW roster debut last night in Brooklyn, with a win over Dana Brooke, Bayley spoke with Andrea D’Marco backstage and said the moment exceeded her expectations. Bayley also revealed she had her mother in the crowd and praised the Barclays Center fans, saying she could not have asked for a better crowd.

Triple H has been a longtime supporter of Bayley and must have been proud to watch her roster debut last night. He posted this congratulatory tweet after the match:

Bayley issued a challenge to new Women’s Champion Charlotte on RAW but instead was put in the match with Dana. With RAW GM Mick Foley confirming Bayley as their latest talent acquisition, it will be interesting to see how soon Bayley gets the title shot. For those who missed it, below are shots from her RAW debut:

Rusev Injury Update, Seth Rollins Off-Air Promo From RAW, WWE Superstars

– WWE’s website reports that Rusev suffered bruised ribs at the hands of Roman Reigns during their brawl at SummerSlam on Sunday, according to the WWE ringside doctors. The WWE United States Champion worked RAW last night but had his ribs taped up.

– WWE taped Jinder Mahal vs. Jack Swagger and Golden Truth vs. Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas on Monday night in Brooklyn for this week’s Superstars episode.

– Following his win over Sami Zayn at last night’s RAW, Seth Rollins cut a promo for the live fans inside the Barclays Center. Video is above. Rollins takes shots at the fans for their rejection of the Universal Championship on Sunday and at the injured Finn Balor. Rollins says Balor may have won the battle but Rollins won the war and will go on to win the championship next week.

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction (8/22)

This week’s episode of Raw kicked off with Stephanie McMahon and Mick Foley in the ring. They called down the WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor to the ring. Balor had his arm in a sling and addressed the WWE Universe. Balor thanked the fans and Seth Rollins for giving him the match of his life at Summerslam. Balor then stated that he had to relinquish the Universal Championship due to injury. The crowd chanted “you deserve it!” towards Finn Balor. As Balor was exiting the arena, Rollins’ music hit. Rollins walked right past Finn Balor laughing. Rollins seemed to assume that Foley and McMahon were just going to give him the title. Sami Zayn interrupted and came down to the ring. Zayn was then followed by Jericho, Kevin Owens, Enzo & Cass and Roman Reigns. Everyone was arguing about who should be champion when Mick Foley finally intervened. Foley announced that there would be a series of matches and that the new Universal Champion would be declared next week. The crowd booed loudly because there would be no new champion crowned tonight. It was then announced that the first match would be Sami Zayn versus Seth Rollins. Zayn was distracted by Kevin Owens trash talking him and Rollins attacked Zayn from behind before the match even started.

It was revealed that on next week’s Raw, there will be a Fatal 4-Way match to crown the new WWE Universal champion.

Universal Championship Tournament Match: Seth Rollins vs Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn bounced back from the pre-match attack by Rollins and controlled the match early. As the match progressed, Rollins regained control. Rollins seemed to be enjoying his work in the ring and took a breather to pose for the crowd. Sami Zayn appeared to have injured his ankle during the match and sold it for the rest of the contest. He flipped onto Rollins outside the ring but couldn’t capitalize on it due to his ankle injury. When Raw returned from a commercial break, Sami Zayn was still in control of the match. Zayn went for a Helluva Kick but could barely move to get to Rollins. This allowed Rollins enough time to recover and he kneed Zayn in the face. Rollins then applied a submission hold that targeted Zayn’s injured ankle but Zayn didn’t tap out. Zayn then went for a Suplex on one leg but couldn’t lift Rollins. It was at this point that Rollins countered the Suplex and hit Zayn with a Pedigree for the victory.

Winner and Advancing to the Fatal 4-Way Universal Championship Match Next Week: Seth Rollins

Reaction: Balor relinquishing the title the day after he won it pretty much capped off a disastrous Summerslam. It sucks for Balor because he is going to be out for a substantial amount of time and when he returns the odds are that he won’t immediately be thrust into the title picture. The WWE could potentially use the Rollins storyline in that Balor never lost his title. Sami Zayn and Rollins had a good match to open up the show. I’m not sure if Zayn was actually injured or if it was part of the storyline for the match. In one month, Sami Zayn has gone from defeating Kevin Owens in a match that many consider a classic to barely being on the Summerslam card and then eliminated in the first round of a championship tournament. Rollins advances in the tournament and his next opponent is unknown at this point.

WWE Universal Championship Tournament Match: Neville vs Kevin Owens

Chris Jericho was ringside for this match cheering Kevin Owens on. This was a back and forth match that had Jericho coming into play in the finish. Jericho distracted Neville while he was going for the Red Arrow. Kevin Owens then regained momentum and picked Neville up in the Torture Rack and hit him with a spinning Neckbreaker for the win.

Winner and Advancing to the Fatal 4-Way Universal Championship Match Next Week: Kevin Owens

Karl Anderson vs Big E

Before the match, The New Day cut a promo celebrating the fact that they were still the tag team champions. The Club came out and stated that they were owed a rematch. This led to a match between Big E and Anderson. Big E controlled most of this match but Gallows laid him out while the referee was distracted. It wound up not helping Anderson that much because shortly after Big E hit the Big Ending for the victory.

Winner: Big E

Titus O’Neil came down to the ring and cut a promo on Darren Young. Bob Backlund came out and put Titus in the Chicken Wing. Titus then got out of the hold and slammed Backlund down to the mat. Darren Young then came out to protect his life coach but instead fell victim to a Clash of the Titus.

Universal Championship Tournament Match: Big Cass vs Rusev

Rusev was nursing an “injury” from the Spear he received last night on Summerslam from Roman Reigns. Big Cass controlled this match from the beginning. Rusev kicked Enzo in the back of the head outside the ring. Rusev and Big Cass both hit each other with kicks, but Rusev seemed to have enough of this match. Rusev walked up the entrance ramp and got counted out.

Winner and Advancing to the Fatal 4-Way Universal Championship Match Next Week: Big Cass

Charlotte and Dana Brooke came down to the ring and Charlotte began to brag about her victory last night at Summerslam. Mick Foley interrupted and stated that Sasha Banks will get a rematch for the Women’s Championship when she returns from injury. Foley then stated that he had signed the hottest free agent in the Women’s Division, Bayley. Foley then claimed that Bayley will get a shot at Charlotte’s title but first she would have to face Dana Brooke.

Bayley vs Dana Brooke

Charlotte got involved in this match early by distracting Bayley. Dana Brooke had the momentum in this match for a brief moment but Bayley took over. Bayley hit the Belly to Bayley on Dana Brooke for the victory.

Winner: Bayley

Reaction: Finally, Bayley made her main roster debut. I was a bit surprised that Bayley joined the Raw roster instead of Smackdown but I’m glad that is the case. Bayley and Charlotte will no doubt have terrific matches in the near future. The Women’s Division on Raw will be packed with talent when Sasha Banks makes her return.

Braun Strowman vs Johnny Knockout

Strowman destroyed another indie wrestler. Nothing to see here. Before the match, Byron Saxton interviewed Johnny Knockout and asked him why he is fighting Strowman. Johnny Knockout claimed that he liked big and sweaty men.

https://twitter.com/MartyDeRosa/status/767912275525140480

The Dudley Boyz came down to the ring to announce their retirement. The crowd applauded loudly and chanted “Testify!” to send the Dudleys off. The Shining Stars came down to the ring and poked fun at the Dudley Boyz. They then gave the Dudleys two economy class tickets to the beautiful island of Puerto Rico. The crowd in Brooklyn was chanting for the Dudley Boyz to get the tables and the Dudleys obliged. Before the Dudleys could put the Shining Stars through a table, The Club came out and attacked them. Gallows and Anderson hit the Magic Killer on Bubba Ray outside the ring. They then went into the ring and hit the Magic Killer on D-Von through a table.

Reaction: If this is the end for the Dudley Boyz in the WWE then this was a good way to go out. I know some people will disagree with that but it made sense to me. They got to say goodbye to the crowd and also helped get some more heat on The Club. Obviously it would have been better if their last match wasn’t on the Kickoff Show on Summerslam. I wouldn’t be surprised if Bubba Ray returns as Bully Ray in the near future.

WWE Universal Championship Tournament Match: Chris Jericho vs Roman Reigns

Jericho slapped Reigns across the face in the beginning of this match. This angered Reigns and he chased Jericho around the ring. Reigns dominated most of this match and the crowd was booing the heck out of him. Kevin Owens came down to the ring to try and help Jericho but Reigns punched Owens. Jericho then rolled Reigns up but Roman kicked out. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho but Reigns got to the bottom rope. Kevin Owens then hit Roman Reigns with a cheap shot and then Jericho followed it up with a Codebreaker. Predictably, Roman Reigns kicked out at two. Jericho then slapped Reigns a bunch of times and Reigns had a gigantic smile on his face. Kevin Owens once again tried to distract Reigns but it didn’t work and Reigns sent him flying. Reigns then hit the Spear on Jericho for the win.

Winner and Advancing to the Fatal 4-Way Universal Championship Match Next Week: Roman Reigns

Reaction: The crowd didn’t want to see Roman Reigns win but that is exactly what happened. I’m guessing this means the end of Reigns’ feud with Rusev. The Fatal 4-Way for the Universal Championship next week will be Roman Reigns vs Kevin Owens vs Seth Rollins vs Big Cass. Rollins and Reigns seem to be the favorites to win this match. I’d love to see Kevin Owens win it but I don’t see that happening. It would be shocking if Big Cass won the Universal Championship next week. Absolutely shocking. Overall, this was an okay episode of Raw. The highlight of the show was Bayley making her main roster debut. It was only a matter of time before Roman Reigns was back in the main event scene. Both the Raw and Smackdown rosters are so thin at the moment that Reigns is most likely there to stay and may even be crowned the Universal Champion next week.

Fatal 4 Way Will Determine The Next WWE Universal Champion

A Fatal 4 Way match will be held on next week’s WWE RAW from Houston, TX to determine the next WWE Universal Champion.

As seen on RAW, Finn Balor was forced to relinquish the championship due to a shoulder injury which could keep him out of action for 4-6 months.

After a series of qualifying matches were held, it was determined that next week’s Fatal 4 Way will feature Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins vs. Kevin Owens vs. Big Cass. Tune in next week to see which of these 4 men is crowned the new WWE Universal Champion.

WWE Universal Championship Relinquished, New Champion Crowned Next Week

As seen on RAW, Finn Balor relinquished his newly-won WWE Universal Championship after winning it one night earlier at SummerSlam. Balor is expected to be out of action for 4-6 months with a shoulder injury, suffered when taking a barricade powerbomb from Seth Rollins.

A series of matches featuring Sami Zayn, Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Enzo Amore, Big Cass, Chris Jericho and Roman Reigns will take place with a new Universal Champion being crowned next week.

Balor cut a promo on RAW and said he will come for the title as soon as he’s healthy enough. Below is video from that segment:

How Long Finn Balor Is Expected To Be Out Of Action

WWE updated their announcement on Finn Balor’s injury and said he could be out of action for 4-6 months with the shoulder injury.

The injury occurred when Balor took a running powerbomb to the barricade by Rollins.

“He hit the wall during the match, dislocated his shoulder and was able to put it back in himself in a split second,” said ringside physician Dr. Chris Robinson. Bálor was able to finish the match, but Dr. Robinson noted that an MRI yielded results earlier today showing “a possible labrum tear.”

Balor will undergo a surgical consult that will determine the extent of his injury. If surgery and rehab are required he could be facing a recovery time of “anywhere from four to six months.”

Finn Balor To Relinquish WWE Universal Title On RAW

WWE has confirmed that Finn Balor will relinquish his newly-won WWE Universal Title on tonight’s RAW from Brooklyn.

As noted, Balor suffered a shoulder injury at the hands of Seth Rollins on Sunday at SummerSlam. The injury came when Rollins powerbombed Balor into the barricade.

RAW GM Mick Foley tweeted the following on Balor relinquishing the title tonight:

Balor explains that he’s relinquishing the Universal Title because of how long he’ll be on the shelf with his injury. Mick Foley repossesses the red title belt from Balor and the now-former Champion heads to the back. Before Balor can make his way back through the curtain, Seth Rollins interrupts and makes his way down to the ring. Rollins tells Stephanie and Foley that he’s ready to accept the Universal Title, but he’s interrupted by Sami Zayn, Chris Jericho, Kevin Owens, and then Enzo and Cass. They all argue among themselves about who should get a shot at the Title, and Rollins doesn’t look impressed. Roman Reigns comes out next. Foley says to decide the new Universal Champion, all of the wrestlers in the ring will compete in a tournament. Stephanie says Rollins vs. Zayn is up next.

Seth Rollins def. Sami Zayn: Before the bell, Owens distracts Zayn and Rollins jumps him from behind. After the opening bell Rollins continues the offense until Zayn is able to get off a headscissor takedown. They take the action to ringside, and Zayn hits a moonsault off the fan barricade onto Rollins. Back in the ring, Rollins hits a superkick and shortly after hits a knee to the back of the neck off the top rope for a near-fall. Zayn is selling a foot or ankle injury. Rollins takes things to the top turnbuckle but it backfires when Zayn hits a sunset flip powerbomb on Rollins for a two count. Zayn follows up with a t-bone suplex, but Rollins comes back with a big boot and starts working the injured ankle of Zayn. Zayn gets out and stomps a mudhole in Rollins. He attempts a suplex while still selling his ankle, but he can’t pull it off. Rollins gets out and hits the Pedigree for the win.

Kevin Owens def. Neville: After some back and forth action in the opening minutes, Neville throws Owens outside and hits a 450 splash off the apron onto Owens on the floor. Neville gets back in the ring and follows up with a suicide dive onto Owens out on the floor. Jericho comes down the ramp and distracts Neville, allowing Owens to hit a big clothesline. Back in the ring, Neville hits a German suplex and a corkscrew moonsault off the middle rope. Neville follows up with a German suplex bridging into a pin for a 2 count. Owens hits a superkick and goes for the Pop Up Powerbomb, but Neville gets out. Jericho distracts Neville and Neville drops Y2J with a knee. Neville goes back up top but Owens grabs him in the Torture Rack and spins him around into a neckbreaker for the win.

– Cole announces that next week’s Universal Title match will be a Fatal Four-Way, with Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, and two other opponents to be determined.

– The New Day is out next. They hit the ring and cut a promo about being the WWE World Tag Team Champions for an entire year. They begin to celebrate with some Booty-O’s, but Gallows and Anderson interrupt and say “this is stupid, and Brooklyn, you are stupid.” The Club members enter the ring and tell them they cheated to retain the Titles. They say they are owed a rematch for the Tag Titles. Anderson vs. Big E is set up for tonight.

Big E def. Karl Anderson: Big E starts off on the offensive and drops Anderson with a belly to belly overhead suplex. Gallows distracts Big E for a moment and Anderson takes advantage with a dropkick that takes out Big E’s left knee. Anderson continues working on Big E’s knee and keeps him grounded. Big E is able to reverse a suplex and throw Anderson to the outside, but Gallows drops Big E behind the ref’s back. Anderson gets back in the ring, but Big E catches him with the Big Ending for the win.

– Titus comes out to call out Darren Young, but Bob Backlund comes out and gets Titus in the Chicken Wing. Titus gets out and drops Backlund. Darren Young comes out to save his coach, and Titus drops Darren too then leaves the ring.

Big Cass def. Rusev via count out: Cass clotheslines Rusev to the outside early on and Rusev is still selling his ribs from his beat-down from Reigns last night. Cass continues the offense on Rusev in the ring, then throws Rusev to the outside once again. While on the outside, Rusev kicks Enzo in the back of the head and drops him. Cass chases Rusev back in the ring and hits a big splash in the corner, followed up a series of right hands to the injured ribs of Rusev. Rusev rolls outside and Cass throws him into the ring steps. They exchange big boots and Rusev rolls to the outside. Rusev walks up the ramp holding his ribs and gets counted out.

– Owens and Jericho are in the back arguing about which one of them will become the Universal Champion.

– Charlotte comes out with Dana Brooke to cut a promo about winning the Women’s Title last night at SummerSlam. Mick Foley interrupts and says that when Sasha Banks is back from her injury, she’ll get a rematch against Charlotte. Foley says in the meantime, he has signed the hottest free agent of the new era, Bayley, and she’ll get a shot at Charlotte’s Womens Championship. But first, she has to go through Dana Brooke, and that’s up next.

Bayley def. Dana Brooke: Back and forth action in the opening moments. Charlotte distracts Bayley from ringside which leads to Dana kicks Bayley out to the floor. Back in the ring, Dana continues with more offense until Bayley comes back with a splash in the corner and a spinning elbow off the middle rope. Bayley follows up with the belly to belly suplex for the win.

– In the back, Roman Reigns says he’s going to shut Chris Jericho’s mouth tonight.

– Sheamus cuts a promo on Cesaro in the back. He says that unlike every sports team in New York, he’s going to be a winner.

Braun Strowman def. Johnny Knockout: Before the match, Byron interviews the jobber, who says he took the match because he “likes big, sweaty men.” Strowman wins with the reverse chokeslam in a short squash match. He gives the jobber a jackknife powerbomb into a neckbreaker after the match, and makes the referee count the pin again.

– The Dudley Boyz come out to the ring to make an announcement. They shake the announcers’ hands on their way down the ramp, then grab the mic. Bubba says he might get a little emotional tonight, and talks about their history and return to WWE. D-Von says they’ve had a Hell of a 20-year career, and they’ve created history. Bubba tells the crowd to get on their feet to give themselves a round of applause, and that they’re ending thing on their terms. The Shining Stars come out to interrupt and say The Dudleys are washed up. The Stars enter the ring to give the Dudleys tickets to Puerto Rico to check out the retirement homes. The Dudleys drop them then hit the 3D on on Epico, and the Wassup headbutt on Primo. D-Von gets the tables, and they go to 3D Primo through the table. Gallows and Anderson interrupt and lay out the Dudleys. The Club beats down The Dudleys all over ringside, then give Bubba the Magic Killer on the floor. Back in the ring, they hit the Magic Killer on D-Von through the table. Gallows and Anderson stand tall over D-Von to end the segment.

Roman Reigns def. Chris Jericho: Jericho slaps Reigns in the face early on and yells at him. Reigns ends up chasing Jericho around the ring, then dropping him with an elbow. Back in the ring, Reigns follows up with punches and clotheslines until Jericho rakes the eyes. Jericho controls the next few minutes of the action, getting a near-fall after a dropkick. Jericho goes for a facebuster but Reigns throws him into the turnbuckle. Reigns follows up with a clothesline, then hits a few more clotheslines in the corner. Reigns misses a Superman punch, then fights out of a Walls of Jericho attempt from Y2J. Jericho hits an enziguri then comes off the top rope, but Reigns catches him with a right hand. Reigns hits the Drive-By, then tries a Samoan Drop but Jericho gets out. Reigns blocks a Lionsault with his knees, then hits the Superman punch for a near-fall. Reigns gets back up and hits the Superman punch. Reigns goes for a spear but Jericho avoids it and puts Reigns in the Walls of Jericho in the middle of the ring. Owens gets up on the apron and Reigns Superman punches him off. Reigns gets out of a small package pin from Jericho and hits the spear for the win.

The Fatal Four-Way for the Universal Title next week on RAW will feature Seth Rollins vs. Big Cass vs. Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns.

Backstage Altercation Between Brock Lesnar & Chris Jericho At SummerSlam

Source: F4Wonline.com

Chris Jericho ended up in a backstage incident with Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam last night as Jericho was concerned about Randy Orton’s condition.

According to Dave Meltzer, multiple sources report that the incident began when Jericho came to the gorilla position as Lesnar vs. Orton ended, to find out what exactly happened and to see if Orton was alright. Jericho asked Michael Hayes if that was the planned finish and when Hayes wouldn’t respond, Jericho said, “That’s bullshit.”

Lesnar came through the curtain, heard the “that’s bullshit” comment and thought Jericho was talking about the match. One version has Lesnar calling Jericho a “pussy” and the other has him saying “shut up” to Jericho, then telling Jericho to mind his own business. The two came face to face and had words, leading to Lesnar reportedly pushing Jericho with his fingers. Jericho then did a forehead press while another version has him shoving Lesnar against the wall. While the two were up against the wall, Lesnar reportedly told Jericho to kiss him or punch him. Triple H then jumped in and broke things up but the two ended up going at it again until Vince McMahon finally broke it up. Vince told Jericho that everything was a work and to be professional after Jericho continued yelling about Brock.

Triple H reportedly told Vince that Lesnar was to blame, and that Jericho was just standing up for himself. That was the end of the incident between the two. Jericho then saw Orton’s condition and got mad but Orton assured him that he knew what was coming.

WWE Confirms Finn Balor Injury, Video Of When He Was Hurt At SummerSlam

WWE just announced the following update on Finn Balor. They also posted the video seen above of the exact moment Balor was injured.

WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor injured at SummerSlam

Inaugural WWE Universal Champion Finn Bálor suffered an injury to his right shoulder against Seth Rollins at SummerSlam, WWE.com can confirm.

The injury came in the course of Bálor and Rollins’ match to determine which Superstar would become the first WWE Universal Champion, specifically when Bálor absorbed a running powerbomb to the barricade at the hands of The Architect.

The champion is currently scheduled to receive a surgical consult that will determine the extent of Bálor’s injury, as well as if and how his reign as WWE Universal Champion will be affected.

Check back with WWE.com for updates on Bálor’s condition.

Mick Foley Blasts “Smart Fans” At SummerSlam Over Universal Title Backlash

WWE RAW General Manager Mick Foley is not happy about the fan backlash last night at SummerSlam, venting that a small percentage of “smart” fans disrupted the show and disrespected the competitors fighting for the Universal Championship.

Foley shared his thoughts in his latest Facebook post, “There are so many times when WWE fans act in a way that makes me proud. Last night was not one of them. Last night, that vocal minority in attendance – who thought their clever chants about their displeasure toward the aesthetic design of a FREAKING belt were more important than the two guys busting their asses to have the best match possible, made me feel ashamed.”

Seth Rollins tweeted after his match that the fans in attendance at SummerSlam really let him down with their chants about the belt being ugly. Foley says Rollins got so many retweets because most people agreed with him.

Here’s what Foley had to say:

Who Finn Balor Celebrated With Last Night, Video Of His Championship Side Plates

WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor spoke to TMZ Sports on Monday Morning in New York City and said that he celebrated his historic win at SummerSlam with his parents over a meal of chicken curry.

WWE also released this video of Finn Balor’s custom side plates being installed on the Universal Championship belt.

Dudley Boyz Teasing Retirement Tonight On RAW

Are the Dudley Boyz on their way out of WWE?

Following last night’s SummerSlam pay-per-view, Bubba Ray Dudley sent out a cryptic tweet teasing that something “very interesting” will be occurring tonight on RAW. On Monday afternoon, D-Von broke the news that it’s time for he and Bubba Ray to “say goodbye.” Bubba Ray thanked the WWE Universe for a great year.

It remains to be seen if this is a storyline or if the Dudley Boyz are actually hanging it up. One thing is for sure – the Dudleys spent the past year not only showing that they can still go, but also putting over young teams every chance they could.

Discussion: Are the Dudley Boyz really retiring?

Graphic Video: Randy Orton Receives 10 Staples In His Head

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xL1jydaCBM0

WWE released the above video on Monday of Randy Orton receiving medical attention backstage at the Barclays Center in New York after last night’s SummerSlam 2016.

During Orton’s main event match against Brock Lesnar, he got busted open the hard way by an elbow from Brock Lesnar. He required 10 staples to close the wound.

Lesnar was declared the winner last night by TKO, and according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the finish went according to plan. After the pay-per-view went off the air, he internet lit up with speculation that Lesnar had went off-script because WWE usually has a policy against allowing blood on their programming.

Report: Lesnar Cutting Open Orton At SummerSlam Was Planned

Despite WWE’s usual policy against using blood in matches, everything that transpired in the main event at SummerSlam was part of the script including the TKO finish. Brock Lesnar busted Randy Open the hard way with a vicious elbow to the head that left Orton lying in a pool of his own blood.

On the Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer addressed speculation that Lesnar went off-script to injure Ortor or that an audible was called due to the severity of the cut.

“Obviously [Orton] was selling and they were trying to work the idea that he was knocked out and they had to stop the match, and from what I can gather due to no one talking about anything going awry, that was probably close to what was supposed to happen, if not exactly what was supposed to happen.”

Meltzer said he has “no doubt” in his mind that the former UFC Champion was going for blood. Meltzer noted that the finish was somewhat reckless, but it was not a case of Lesnar going into business for himself. Obviously with a violent spot like that, WWE had no way to know exactly how bad the cut would be and you’d have to think this was on the bloodier side of what they were anticipating.

As noted earlier, Brock Lesnar is not currently scheduled to be at tonight’s RAW from Brooklyn.
