New RAW Women’s Champion Crowned At Hell In A Cell

Charlotte is now a four-time champion after defeating Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship at WWE Hell in a Cell from Boston, Sasha’s hometown. Not only was it the first time two women battled inside the cell, but also the first time in WWE history that two women headlined a pay-per-view event.

Here are some photos and video from the match:

WWE Hell In A Cell 2016 Results & Discussion (10/30)

The 2016 edition of WWE’s annual Hell In A Cell pay-per-view aired live from the TD Garden Arena in Boston, MA.

Roman Reigns (c) vs. Rusev: The cage lowers from the ceiling and the United States Title match will be starting things off tonight. Lots of back-and-forth brawling outside the ring, with both competitors throwing each other into the cage walls. The fans duel with “Let’s Go Rusev” and “Rusev Sucks” chants. Reigns throws Rusev hard into the cage then drops him with a big boot on the floor. Reigns goes to grab a table from under the ring, but Rusev stops him and throws him into the cell then follows up with a splash. Rusev, who has a cut on his arm from going into the cage wall, takes things back in the ring and keeps Reigns grounded. Reigns dodges a splash in the corner and comes back with a series of ten clotheslines and a big boot on Rusev. Rusev prepares for a Superman punch, but Rusev rolls outside. Reigns rolls out and goes for the Drive-By on Rusev, but Rusev dodges it and drops the champion with a clothesline. Rusev goes to work on Reigns at ringside, throwing him into the ring steps and the cage. Rusev throws Reigns and the steel steps into the ring, and he sets up the steel steps on a turnbuckle. Rusev goes to throw Reigns into the steps, but Reigns reverses and drops Rusev with a series of punches. The two take turns throwing each other into the cage at ringside. The crowd has been chanting for tables on-and-off for about five minutes. Rusev goes under the ring apron and grabs a table which pops the crowd, but he drops it and takes a kendo stick instead. Reigns comes out of nowhere with a dropkick, then takes the Kendo stick and tees off on Rusev. They get back in the ring but Rusev ties up Reigns in the ropes by his arms. Rusev grabs the kendo stick and hits Reigns nine times, then breaks it over his knee. Rusev taunts the crowd, and when he turns around Reigns has gotten himself free and hits the challenger with a spear. The crowd has been 50/50 until this point, but they clearly favor Rusev when he starts exchanging right hands with Reigns in the middle of the ring. Reigns ducks a big boot and hits the Superman punch for a two count. Reigns goes for another Superman punch, but Rusev blocks it with a big boot then throws Reigns into the steel steps set up on the turnbuckle for a two count. Rusev locks The Accolade on Reigns in the middle of the ring but he fights out. Rusev immediately drops Reigns with a kick to the head that sends Riegns rolling outside. Rusev goes under the ring and grabs a chain and wraps it around his fist. Reigns hits Rusev with a series of right hands and the chain goes flying in the ring. Back in the ring, Rusev gets the chain and beats down Roman with it. Rusev grabs another set of steel steps from ringside and throws them in the ring. The challenger slams Reigns’ head into the steps then hits a big boot for another two count. Rusev lays Reigns on the ring steps, grabs the chain, and locks the Accolade in on Reigns with the chain around his face. Reigns fights out and gets Rusev up on his shoulders. Reigns hits a Samoan drop ontop of the steel steps, then as Rusev is standing up, Reigns spears him off of the steps for the win.

– Kevin Owens gets interviewed backstage and cuts a promo about powerbombing Seth Rollins onto the corner of the ring apron on RAW. Owens says he’ll still be the Universal Champion when he leaves tonight, and that makes him “the man.”

Bayley def. Dana Brooke: After some back and forth action in the opening minutes, Dana Brooke dodges a splash in the corner and goes to work on Bayley’s injured shoulder. The story of the match becomes Dana wearing down Bayley’s bad shoulder. Bayley comes back with a series of elbow strikes using her good arm, then hits a flying elbow in the crner. Bayley follows up with a vertical suplex and a corkscrew elbow off the middle rope. Bayley goes for the belly to belly suplex but Dana blocks it. Bayley attemps the belly to belly a second time, and this time she hits it for the win.

– Mick Foley and Stephanie McMahon are in the back talking about how well tonight’s show is going. Chris Jericho interrupts, then accuses Foley of interrupting him. Jericho busts out the list and threatens to add foley to it, again. Jericho tells Foley to watch “it” and then advises Stephanie about who she should choose for Team RAW for Survivor Series. Jericho says that him and Kevin Owens should be leading Team RAW. Foley tells Jericho he should be more worried about if Owens will make it out of the Cell tonight in one piece, and with that — Jericho silently adds Foley to the list and walks away.

Karl Anderson & Big Cass def. Enzo Amore & Big Cass: Enzo and Cass cut a promo on Gallows and Anderson before the match. Enzo and Cass hit some double team moves on Gallows and Anderson early on, with Cass finally gorilla pressing Enzo out of the ring into the heels on the floor at ringside. Back in the ring, Gallows comes back and starts beating down Enzo. Gallows ties up Enzo upside down in the corner then dropkicks him. Gallows follows up with a vertical suplex, then tags in Anderson who kicks Enzo in the side of the head. Anderson takes Enzo to the top rope for a superplex, but Enzo fights him off and hits a tornado DDT on Anderson. Cass and Gallows both tag in, and Cass cleans house. Cass drops Gallows with a big boot, then pulls Anderson in the ring. Cass hits a series of splashes on both of them before throwing Anderson back outside. Cass hits another big boot on Gallows then hits the Empire Elbow. Cass hits a fallaway slam on Gallows then goes for a big boot, but Gallows ducks and Cass crotches himself on the top rope. Enzo tags in and gets some offense in on Gallows, but Gallows quickly drops him with a superkick. Gallows tags in Anderson and they hit the Magic Killer on Enzo for the win.

Kevin Owens (c) def. Seth Rollins: The Cell lowers from the ceiling and the Universal Championship match is up next. The action goes out to the floor at ringside immediately with Rollins throwing Owens into the wall of the cage. Back in in the ring Rollins hits a Sling Blade for a two count. Rollins keeps Owens grounded in the ring then hits a Blockbuster off the middle rope. Rollins goes outside and grabs a table from under the ring. Rollins rolls back in the ring, but Owens drops him and hits a series of senton splashes. Owens continues beating down Rollins then hits a cannonball in the ring, then one in the corner of the cage outside. Back in the ring, Rollins superkicks Owens, Owens returns with a superkick of his own, Rollins hits an enziguri, then Owens hits a lariat and both men are down. Owens is the first to get up, and he leans a table up between the ring apron and the cage wall. The leaning table has another table set up on the floor beneath it. Owens and Rollins start fighting on the apron and Rollins hits a brainbuster on the apron. Rollins hits two suicide dives on Owens to the outside. Owens grabs a fire extinguisher from under the ring, hits Rollins with it then sprays it in the referee’s face. The outside referee opens the door to let the injured referee out. The crowd pops huge and the camera turns around to show us that Y2J is running down the ramp. Jericho runs in the cage and locks the door behind him, with the not-injured referee inside. Rollins lays out Owens in the commotion, then bumps Jericho off the apron into the cage wall. After some brawling in the ring, Rollins hits a big springboard knee to the head of Owens off the top rope. Rollins goes fr the Pedigree on Owens but Jericho interferes, so Rollins hits one on Jericho instead. Rollins turns around to a superkick from Owens. Owens goes to powerbomb Rollins into the table leaned up against the cage, but Rollins gets out and powerbombs Owens through the tables at ringside. Rollins rolls Owens back in the ring and hits a frogsplash off the top, but Jericho breaks up the pin. Rollins drops Jericho at ringside with a kick to the head then throws him into the cage wall. Rollins powerbombs Jericho into the cage wall then gets back in the ring. Owens hits Rollins with a superkick then a pop-up powerbomb for a two count. Jericho gives Owens a chair and Owens starts repeatedly hitting Rollins in the back with it. Rollins grabs a chair and briefly fights back, but Owens drops him with a DDT onto a chair. Jericho instructs Owens to set up two chairs in the seated position, and then Owens powerbombs Rollins through the chairs for the win. Jericho and Owens celebrate in the cage as Rollins lays on the mat.

– As Kevin Owens walks to the back, Jericho returns to the Cell. Rollins is being helped to his feet in the ring when Jericho rolls in and hits a Codebreaker on Rollins. Jericho gets in Rollins’ face and talks trash to him, then walks up the ramp and hugs Owens before they go behind the curtain.

Brian Kendrick def. TJ Perkins: After some back and forth chain wrestling and pin attempts in the opening minutes, Cruiserweight Champion Perkins hits a springboard moonsault on Kendrick and starts pummeling on him. Kendrick comes back and starts working on Perkins’ arm, then he undoes the tape around Perkins’ wrist to tie him to the bottom rope and stomp on his arm. TJ Perkins reverses a headlock with a neckbreaker then hits a springboard missile dropkick off the top on Kendrick. Perkins follows up with a suicide dive on Kendrick on the outside. Back in the ring, the champion and the challenger trade kicks to the head until Perkins hits a Detonation Kick for a near-fall. Perkins follows up with a wrecking ball dropkick, but Kendrick comes back with a back suplex into a pin for a two count. Perkins goes for a clothesline of his own but Kendrick escapes and locks in the Captain’s Hook. Perkins escapes and locks in a knee bar on Kendrick. Kendrick reaches the ropes then goes for a Sliced Bread 2 on Perkins. Perkins gets out and Kendrick starts selling a knee injury. The referee backs off Perkins and starts checking on Kendrick. Perkins looks concerned and walks over to check on Kendrick, and Kendrick headbutts him and locks in the Hook. Perkins taps out and we have a new Cruiserweight Champion.

Sheamus & Cesaro def. The New Day (c) via DQ: The New Day cuts a promo before the match. Sheamus and Cesaro control the opening minutes of the match by quickly tagging in and out to work on Xavier. Xavier comes back with a missile dropkick on Cesaro, and then Big E and Sheamus get the tags. Big E hits a series of belly to belly suplexes on Sheamus then hits a running splash. Cesaro tries to hit the ring but Xavier throws him outside then hits a somersault over the top rope onto Cesaro at ringside. Back in the ring, Big E hits a powerbomb, then Sheamus comes back with a running powerslam. Sheamus throws Big E in the corner and Xavier tags himself in. Sheamus drops Xavier with the White Noise for a two count. Sheamus hits a rolling senton on Xavier, then Cesaro tags in and hits a double foot stomp for a two count. Xavier fights out of a Swing attempt, then hits an elbow drop off the top rope onto Cesaro. Cesaro comes back with some European uppercuts and successfully swings Xavier, but Big E interrupts and suplexes Cesaro into the turnbuckle. Sheamus breaks up a double team attempt on Cesaro, but ends up accidentally hitting a big boot on Cesaro when Big E ducks. Xavier pins Cesaro but Sheamus breaks it up. Sheamus throws Xavier outside with Big E and Kofi, then comes off the top rope with a slash onto all of them at ringside. Xavier and Cesaro roll back in the ring and Cesaro gets Xavier in a Sharpshooter. At ringside, Sheamus hits Big E with the trombone, then Kofi kicks Sheamus in the head. The referee only sees Kofi kick Sheamus in the head, and calls for the disqualification. Woods tapped out right after the referee called for the DQ.

Sasha Banks (c) vs. Charlotte: Charlotte comes out on a throne being carried by people, and Sasha comes out in a Cadillac Escalade. Before the Cell comes all the way down, Charlotte attacks Sasha and beats her down around ringside and into the crowd. Cole reminds us that the bell hasn’t rung yet. They fight back through the crowd to ringside, and the Cell is now on the ground so they will have to enter through the door. Sasha clears the Spanish announce table, and Charlotte starts climbing the side of the cage. Sasha climbs up after her and knocks her off down to the floor. Charlotte grabs Sasha off the Cell wall and powerbombs her through the Spanish announce table. Sasha is selling a back injury as referees hold back Charlotte. The referee calls for medics and they come out and put a neck brace on Sasha at ringside. It’s announced that Sasha is unable to compete and Charlotte is awarded the Women’s Championship. Sasha comes off the stretcher and fights off some referees. The referee decides that the match will happen after all, and Sasha hits the ring. The cage door is locked and Sasha starts chopping Charlotte in the chest and throwing her into the cage. Charlotte slams Sasha into the ring post then hits a standing monkey flip that sends Sasha into the Cell wall. Back in the ring, Sasha hits a backstabber and the Banks Statement on Charlotte. Charlotte fights out and throws Sasha to the outside. Charlotte throws Sasha and a steel chair into the ring, but Sasha comes back with baseball slide dropkicks and a suicide dive that all send Charlotte crashing into the cage wall. Back in the ring, Sasha unfolds the chair and sits in the middle, then Charlotte hits a series of chops to the chest on Sasha. Sasha comes back with a series of right hands, then hits a drop toe hold that sends Charlotte face-first into the chair. Sasha runs off the ropes and Charlotte catches her with a side walk slam right onto the steel chair for a two count. The fight goes to the floor at ringside, and Sasha climbs the cage wall and comes off with a double knee strike on Charlotte. Sasha hits a series of double knees on Charlotte up against the cage. She pulls Sasha out by the hair and slams her head into the steel ring steps. Charlotte sets up a table at ringside then goes up to the top rope with Sasha. Sasha ends up pushing Charlotte down to the apron then kicking her off through the table. Sasha gets another table and slides it in the ring. Charlotte hits a backbreaker and a big boot, then locks in the Figure Four. Sasha grabs a chair and hits Charlotte with it to break the hold. Charlotte comes back with two backbreakers and a side walk slam for a two count. Charlotte climbs the turnbuckle and Sasha hits her from behind and goes for a powerbomb, but her back gives out and she falls. Charlotte throws Sasha onto the table a couple times and it doesn’t break, then she hits the Natural Selection for the win. Alexa Bliss On Upsetting The Parent Of A Young Fan, Upcoming Title Shot On SmackDown

Alexa Bliss recently spoke with The Idaho Press and commented on upsetting the parent of a young WWE fan at a house show:

“I’m a bad guy right now. So at the last live event, I went to go high-five this woman’s kid and I ended up not doing it and she got really upset with me. Deep down I was kind of scared of her, but it was actually really funny. But that’s why I love traveling. I get to meet so many different people and go to so many different places that I’ve never been before, Nampa for example.”

Bliss also commented on how she’s feeling going into the 11/8 SmackDown Women’s Championship match with Becky Lynch in Glasgow:

“I’m definitely ready for that match. I’ve gone to the performance center and trained a little bit more in the ring. I’ve been watching tape and studying her. I’ve seen everything she can do, but she hasn’t seen everything I can do. She may have paved the way for me, but I’m going to take the title and become the evolution of the new era.”

Ember Moon Explains Her Name, Talks Previous Tryouts With WWE

Ember Moon recently spoke with The Miami Herald and revealed how her NXT ring name came to be. The former Athena breaks down the new name like this:

“Ember is the last thing that comes with a flame. It’s the part that is so hard to die down, that can combust at any moment. The moon is so cool. It changes faces all the time. So basically my name means something that is undying and ever changing.”

Ember also commented on never giving up on her goals and making it to WWE despite previous tryouts that didn’t get her signed. She said:

“When I was 18, I had my very first tryout for WWE. I had another tryout, when I was 19, and another tryout when I was 20. After that didn’t go the way I wanted it to, I decided I was going to make them want me, and that’s exactly what I did. I traveled all around the world and made a name for myself on the indies. So when I tried out again and they saw all the experience that I had — eight years later seeing me for the fourth time — and they saw all the potential that I had, they saw something special in me.”

The Big Show On If He Thinks The Undertaker Is Done, Taker’s Entrance & More

The Big Show recently did media in the UK for the upcoming WWE Live tour and spoke about The Undertaker’s WWE future and his WrestleMania Streak. Show does not believe his longtime co-worker is done in the ring. He said:

“No, I don’t think Taker’s story is done. Taker’s one of those amazing, iconic characters that has built WWE and stood by WWE through thick and thin times. He’s one of the guys that never jumped ship back in the day. My personal take on it? I wish Taker would have never lost in New Orleans [to Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XXX]. There was no reason for it. I get it. Anyone can lose, anything can happen in our business, it’s entertainment, nothing lasts forever, I understand all that.”

Show continued:

“I think the fans are happy to see Undertaker once a year and make that entrance and go out there and keep going. Taker’s always been a businessman too. He’s never been ego-driven like a lot of guys are. He goes out there and gets the match over, gets his opponent over and gets himself over. I think as long as Taker feels healthy enough and feels good enough to go out there he will. And I’m okay with seeing Taker on special events, because Taker is the ultimate attraction. That entrance is probably the greatest entrance ever. I’ve been in the ring competing with him and that GONNNG would hit, and the music, and I’ve gotten chill bumps.”

Ken Anderson: Billy Corgan Is One Of The Best Things To Ever Happen To TNA

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DsaAprnoe4s

Ken Anderson recently opened up about the behind-the-scenes power struggle between Dixie Carter and Billy Corgan in TNA. The former TNA World Champion was interviewed by WhatCulture and explained that he wants what’s best for his friends who still work for TNA, and he thinks what’s best for them is if Billy Corgan takes over the company.

“I just want what’s best for my friends, what’s best for the business. I think Billy Corgan is one of the best things to ever happen to TNA in a long time,” Anderson explained.

The former TNA and WWE star continued and shed some light on his time working with Corgan in TNA, revealing that Corgan worked closely with him on his 2015 TNA storyline with Bram. Anderson applauded Corgan for his creativity.

“I personally loved working with him. He was creative, he allowed me to be creative. He was in charge of the storyline that I had with Bram in TNA,” Anderson said. “We all worked together, and we all contributed to that storyline, and I think that’s the way this business should work; how the creative process should work. I hope the best happens, and I think that Billy Corgan being a huge part of that equation is a positive. It’s a good thing.”

Update On Which Match Will Close Tonight’s WWE Hell In A Cell PPV

According to new reports, history will be made tonight in the main event at WWE Hell In A Cell 2016. Despite changing plans and conflicting reports throughout the week, it now appears that Sasha Banks and Charlotte are scheduled to be the final match of the night and close out the pay-per-view.

As previously noted, Dave Meltzer had reported on Wrestling Observer Radio this week that Vince McMahon was cold on the idea of Sasha Banks’ Women’s Title defense headlining the show and put a stop to it. New details emerged today and in a correction first reported by PWInsider.com, Banks and Charlotte are now penciled in as the last match for tonight. If no more changes are made to the order of the card, this will be the first time female wrestlers truly headline a WWE pay-per-view.

For what it’s worth, Meltzer had also reported this week that Triple H was among several WWE staffers who wanted Banks and Charlotte to go on last. There’s no word on what caused Vince to change his mind on the issue, but it’s possible that the WWE Chairman was convinced by his son-in-law.

Hell In A Cell is being advertised by WWE as having a “triple main event.” In addition to the Women’s Title match, Kevin Owens will be defending his Universal Title against Seth Rollins, and Roman Reigns will be defending his U.S. Title against Rusev. Live coverage and discussion starts on SEScoops.com tonight at 7:30 PM ET.

Charlotte On Challenges In WWE, Sasha Banks Talks WrestleMania Main Event Aspirations

WWE stars Sasha Banks and Charlotte recently took part in a piece for ESPN to promote tonight’s Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Charlotte opened up about what she thinks the most-challenging part of being on the WWE roster is, and it wasn’t the physicality.

“The hard part for me was not the wrestling — it was showing emotion, telling a story and being able to connect with fans,” she told ESPN. “Coming out as Ric Flair’s daughter and being called athletically gifted, it’s hard to say, “Hey, like me! You can relate to me!” It wasn’t working, so I completely switched my character. I find it easier to pretend to be the person everyone already thinks I am versus being who I am.”

Current RAW Women’s Champion Sasha Banks told ESPN that her title defense as part of tonight’s “triple main event” is a step in the right direction for women in pro wrestling.

“I think once we get a women’s main event at a pay-per-view and you drop “women’s wrestling,” that will prove we are on the same level,” Banks said of gender equality in wrestling. “A couple of years ago we were seen as the popcorn match or the bathroom break for the fans, and that’s not the case anymore.”

Banks reiterated comments she made in a September interview to promote WWE 2K17, saying that she wants to main-event a WrestleMania before she retires. The Women’s Champion says that if it doesn’t happen in her lifetime, she knows she’s helping build the foundation for the next generation of female wrestlers to have a chance at headlining wrestling’s biggest event.

Read Stephanie McMahon’s New WWE Contract Extension For 2016-2019

As noted earlier, WWE’s 10-Q filing (PDF) with the Securities and Exchange Commission for the third quarter of 2016 includes an amendment to Stephanie McMahon’s talent contract with WWE. As an executive officer of a public company, all of her contracts have to be filed publicly. This is why the contracts for Triple H/Paul Levesque, Vince McMahon, Jim Ross, and others have gone public over the years.

Technically speaking, this was just an amendment/extension, not an entirely new contract, and here’s the full text, which is on page 50 of the above linked filing and pays her a guarantee of $500,000 annually:

FIRST AMENDMENT TO BOOKING CONTRACT

This First Amendment to Booking Contract (“First Amendment”), effective as of October 7, 2016, is by and between WORLD WRESTLING ENTERTAINMENT, INC. (“Promoter”), with offices at 1241 East Main Street, Stamford, Connecticut 06902, and STEPHANIE MCMAHON-LEVESQUE (“Wrestler”), with respect to a certain Booking Contract by and between Promoter and Wrestler effective as of October 7, 2013 (the “Agreement”).

In consideration of the promises, covenants and agreements set forth herein and for other good and other valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the parties, intending to be legally bound, hereby agree as follows:

1. The parties agree that the “Term” of the Agreement shall be extended to run an additional three years. Thereafter, the Term shall extend on a year-to-year basis unless either party terminates it by written notice to the other party at least ninety (90) days prior to the then effective end of the Term.

2. The parties further agree to amend the Agreement by deleting paragraph 7.1(a) in its entirety and replacing it with the following provision: “Unless terminated pursuant to the terms herein, PROMOTER shall pay WRESTLER each Contract Year the total sum of Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($500,000.00) (referred to hereinafter as “Minimum Annual Compensation”). PROMOTER agrees, commencing with the Effective Date, to pay WRESTLER the Minimum Annual Compensation in fifty- two (52) weekly installments consistent with PROMOTER’s regular payment procedures.”

3. All terms not defined in this First Amendment shall have the same meaning given them in the Agreement. Except as expressly or by necessary implication modified by this First Amendment, the terms and conditions of the Agreement are hereby ratified and confirmed without limitation or exception and shall remain in full force and effect.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties hereto have executed this First Amendment as of the date first above written.

NXT To Shoot TV At Post-Survivor Series SmackDown Taping

WWE’s official NXT account tweeted this early Friday afternoon:

There had been speculation for a few weeks about how WWE would address the upcoming gap that the NXT taping schedule had created, as it looked like they would be short a show before the first post-TakeOver Toronto tapings at Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida. Now we know: They’re taping another show three days after TakeOver at the SmackDown taping in Ottawa, which is being held at the Canadian Tire Center. As of right now, there’s no indication if Main Event will still be taped that night, as that’s what is usually recorded before SmackDown.

Bischoff Comments On Heyman & Lesnar’s Segment Fromm RAW, Stephanie Re-Signs, Ryback Update

– Ryback continues to fight WWE over the trademark of his “Feed Me More” phrase. The Big Guy attempted to trademark the phrase back on August 1st, 2016, however WWE had already filed for the mark back in January.

– Stephanie McMahon recently signed a “wrestling contract extension” according to a recent 10-Q filing from WWE. Stephanie will remain with the company through October 7th, 2019, at which point her deal will be extended on an annual basis until either party gives a 90-day notice prior to the auto-renewal date.

– Former WCW President Eric Bischoff shared his thoughts on Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar’s segment from Monday’s RAW on the latest episode of his Bischoff On Wrestling podcast. “Unless you are there in the moment and are a part of the process you really don’t have a 360 degree view of anything,” Bischoff said. “With that acknowledged and said, I have to question whoever’s decision it was to set the story up in Minneapolis. I’m not going to suggest that I ever sat down and tried to create a structure for a story or a time line for a story and asked somebody to tell me where we were going to be playing this story out. In which city. I never did that. I wasn’t that smart and didn’t have that vision if you will. I was smart enough to know that there are occasions because every city has it’s own personality. It really does.”

He continued, There were occasions like if we knew we were going to Philadelphia in three or five months for TV or PPV we created our format because we knew we were going to be in front of an audience with a certain type of personality that was going to react a certain type of way. Update On Finn Balor’s Recovery From Shoulder Surgery

Finn Balor no longer needs to wear a sling as he recovers from shoulder surgery. The former Universal Champion was in France this week to promote WWE 2K17.

Last month, Balor revealed to WWE.com that he was 5 months away from returning to action. That puts him on track to return around mid-February, so maybe a surprise spot in the 2017 Royal Rumble is still a possibility.

Vince McMahon said WWE is “open for business” in regards to a potential sale of the company today during the third quarter earnings call.

An investor mentioned the recent UFC sale and the Time Warner/AT&T merger, then asked Vince is they would be open to selling WWE. Vince said the company is open to anything because they are business people but controlling their own destiny is very important.

Vince said he’s unsure of how much control they would lose if they were absorbed and the company is currently focused on creating their own content but he is open to listening to offers, especially an offer the company couldn’t refuse.

The same investor then asked if WWE would be interested in selling if they received an offer that would let them control that destiny. Vince reiterated: “We’re open for business.”
