What Happened After Monday’s RAW Went Off The Air

After Monday’s RAW from Columbus, OH, Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens returned to the ring after Braun Strowman left.

Jericho and Owens started beating on the already-down Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns, but the former Shield members made a comeback. Rollins and Reigns ended up hitting their finishing moves on Owens and Jericho, then locking them both in the shark cage from earlier in the night.

Rollins and Reigns called for the cage to be raised and lowered several times before the heels were finally let out.

After Rollins and Reigns had left, Owens and Jericho made their way to the back. Before they went behind the curtain, they destroyed several of the Christmas decorations that were at the top of the stage.

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction (12/19)

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw kicked off with Chris Jericho and WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens in the ring. Kevin Owens spent a couple of minutes sucking up to Chris Jericho and welcomed the WWE Universe to the “Chris and Kevin” show. Jericho instructed the workers in the truck to show pictures from last tonight of Kevin Owens retaining his Universal Championship thanks to the interference from Jericho. Owens thanked Jericho for giving him the Codebreaker last night at WWE Roadblock. That Codebreaker got Roman Reigns disqualified and ensured a victory for Kevin Owens.

Owens posed with the Universal Championship and Jericho claimed that the Codebreaker hurt him a lot more than it hurt Owens. Jericho and Owens then shared a hug in the ring. Jericho insulted Santa Claus and claimed that he stole his gimmick. Jericho then added Santa Claus to the list. Mick Foley then interrupted with his jet black beard and leather jacket.

Foley then stated that Chris Jericho has been really naughty. Foley then showed pictures of Jericho and Owens getting Powerbombed through tables at WWE Roadblock. Jericho then insulted Foley’s jacket. Foley then took off the jacket and he was sporting a ridiculous shirt and a fanny pack. Foley went on to announce that Rollins and Reigns will be facing Jericho and Owens in a tag team match later on tonight.

A cage then descended to the ring and Foley announced that Jericho will suspended above the ring at the Royal Rumble. Foley announced that Roman Reigns will get a rematch for the Universal Championship at Royal Rumble and Jericho will be locked in the cage above the ring. Jericho was then locked in the cage and Foley couldn’t find the key. Jericho was then raised above the ring. Foley said he will try to find the way and the segment ended with Jericho suspended above the ring.

Reaction: This promo went on far too long. Besides Foley fumbling through his fanny pack, he also revealed that Roman Reigns will get a rematch for the Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble. Unless Reigns drops the United States Championship before then, that makes another PPV where that belt will not be defended. I still cannot come up with a reason why they gave that title to Reigns if they were just going to have him chase the Universal Championship. It is a complete waste of the title and the midcard on Raw has nothing to fight for right now.

Raw returned with Jericho hyperventilating due to being suspended above the ring. Jericho some how got out of the cage during the break and was backstage with Kevin Owens.

Enzo and Cass came down to the ring and cut a promo. They called Rusev “sawft” and Rusev interrupted.

Big Cass vs Rusev

This match was very quick. Big Cass beat the hell out of Rusev and the referee had to disqualify him. Big Cass continued to beatdown Rusev in the corner after the bell rang. Rusev eventually got away and escaped through the crowd.

Winner via DQ: Rusev

Reaction: Well, at least this match was short.

Sasha Banks then came down to the ring with her knee wrapped and she used a crutch to walk. Sasha Banks stated that she didn’t feel like “The Boss” anymore due to her loss to Charlotte. Sasha Banks then asked Charlotte to come to the ring so that she could congratulate her. Nia Jax came down to the ring instead. Nia Jax called Sasha Banks a weak little girl. Nia then kicked the crutch out from under Sasha and launched her across the ring.

Reaction: It was good to see Nia Jax on Raw. However, I think this segment would have been better if Nia did something besides simply kicking the crutch. Why not get a real reaction from the crowd and have Nia hit Banks with the crutch as well?

Foley introduced the new Raw Tag Team Championship titles to Cesaro and Sheamus backstage. A referee then interrupted and stated that Foley was needed due to an emergency. Braun Strowman was then shown flipping out backstage. Strowman demanded that Foley give him a rematch with Sami Zayn. Foley informed Strowman that Sami Zayn was not at the arena tonight. Strowman then warned Foley that there will be hell to pay and stormed off.

Cedric Alexander vs Noam Dar

Alexander started off the match on the offensive. There was a commercial break right at the beginning of the match and when Raw returned the match ended two minutes later. Alexander hit the Lumbar Check for the victory. After the match, Noam Dar congratulated Cedric Alexander on his victory but stated that Cedric still had what he wanted. Noam Dar then stated that all he wanted for Christmas was Alicia Fox.

Winner: Cedric Alexander

The New Day came down to the ring and cut a promo. Kofi Kingston stated that the New Day will not mourn about their loss of the tag titles. Kingston stated that in order for Ric Flair to become a 16 time Champion, he had to lose the belt 15 times. Big E then stated that would be Charlotte in a month and the crowd got a chuckle out of that.

Sheamus and Cesaro then came down to the entrance ramp wearing their new Tag Team titles. The New Day then congratulated Cesaro on the victory last night at Roadblock and instructed the crowd to shame Sheamus. Sheamus went on to state that he didn’t give a damn what the people in the crowd “tink” (think). The promo went on for a bit and Sheamus stated that he will break the New Day’s record.

Gallows and Anderson then came down to the ring. Gallows called everyone in the ring nerds and referred to the New Day as the “Nerd Day”. Gallows and Anderson claimed that the only reason Sheamus and Cesaro won the titles was because Gallows and Anderson beat the New Day up several times in the weeks leading up to Roadblock. The Shining Stars then came down to the ring and a brawl broke out. Raw then went to a commercial break after Gallows, Anderson and The Shining Stars were thrown out of the ring.

Cesaro, Sheamus & New Day vs The Shining Stars, Gallows & Anderson

The Shining Stars dominated the match early. Gallows and Anderson then joined the party and continued to beatdown Kofi Kingston. When Raw returned from a commercial break, Kofi was still trapped in the ring. Finally, Kofi battled back and connected with a Tornado DDT onto Karl Anderson. Kofi still wasn’t able to tag out of the match because Gallows prevented it. The Shining Stars then knocked Sheamus, Cesaro and Big E off of the ring apron.

Eventually, Kofi tagged in Big E and he laid everyone out with a few Belly to Belly Suplexes. Sheamus then tagged himself in and Big E was pissed off about it. The match then broke down and everyone took each other out. Cesaro hit the Cesaro Swing on Epico. Cesaro followed it up with the Sharpshooter and Epico tapped out.

Winners: Cesaro, Sheamus & New Day

Enzo Amore was backstage with Big Cass. Enzo stated that he felt bad that he was costing Big Cass wins. Enzo Amore then received a letter that he had to attend sensitivity training due to exposing himself on the November 21st episode of Monday Night Raw.

Neville came down to the ring and stated that last night on Roadblock he destroyed TJ Perkins and Rich Swann. Neville stated that he was annoyed that the audience cheered for him during the attack last night. Neville stated that he didn’t want any cheers from the crowd. Neville claimed that he was going to destroy everyone in the Cruiserweight division.

Rich Swann interrupted Neville and asked why he was asking this way. Neville told Rich Swann to shut up and stated that Swann hasn’t shown Neville enough respect. Brian Kendrick then came down to the ring and sucked up to Neville. Kendrick and Neville then surrounded Swann and beat him down. TJ Perkins ran down to the ring but Neville beat him down as well. Brian Kendrick then applauded Neville for his efforts. Kendrick hit Sliced Bread on Perkins as Neville walked backstage.

Reaction: Angry Neville is the best Neville.

Darren Young, Bob Backlund, Bo Dallas, Jinder Mahal and Enzo Amore were all in sensitivity training. Enzo was not taking the class seriously and kept acting out.

Titus O’Neil and Sin Cara were supposed to have a match but Braun Strowman came down to the ring and beat the hell out of both of them. Strowman attempted to carry Sin Cara backstage but Foley stopped him. Strowman then launched Sin Cara into the Christmas tree and presents set up around the entrance ramp.

Charlotte came down to the ring and stated that she has solidified herself as the greatest Superstar the WWE has ever seen. Charlotte bragged about being undefeated at WWE PPVs. Bayley then interrupted and came down to the ring. Bayley congratulated Charlotte on her victory and then stated that it was time for the Charlotte and Bayley rivalry to begin. Bayley stated that she is 2-0 against Charlotte. That didn’t sit well with Charlotte and she went to claim that Bayley has never been good enough. Bayley then challenged Charlotte to a match.

Charlotte vs Bayley

Charlotte controlled the beginning of the match. Bayley battled back and connected with a Crossbody. Bayley then did the Ric Flair strut and spun around on Charlotte several times until she got dizzy. Raw went to a commercial break with Bayley in control of the match.

When Raw returned, Charlotte was in control of the match. Bayley fought back and connected with a Clothesline. Bayley went to the second turnbuckle but Charlotte shoved her off and Bayley went falling into the ropes. Charlotte then landed a Moonsault off the top rope and went for a cover but Bayley kicked out at two. Bayley then applied a backslide pin and won the match. Bayley is now 3-0 against Charlotte.

Winner: Bayley

Reaction: I find it bizarre that almost every champion in the WWE loses most of their non-title matches. I think it has a negative effect and makes the champion look weak. It is possible to have a heel champion and have them be dominant at the same time. Instead, we have Kevin Owens losing matches on Monday Night Raw. AJ Styles lost a couple of matches to James Ellsworth on Smackdown and now Charlotte is losing to Bayley. I would prefer to see the rest of the Superstars on both shows battling for an oppurtunity to face the champion rather than the person holding the title lose a throwaway match.

The sensitivity training session came to an end and Enzo hit on the instructor. Rusev and Jinder Mahal then attacked Enzo. Rusev then held up Enzo and Lana slapped him across the face. Rusev then slammed Enzo through a table.

Roman Reigns & Seth Rollins vs Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

Owens and Jericho started off the match by taking turns beating down Rollins. Seth eventually battled back and tagged in Reigns. Roman was greeted with boos as he entered the match. Jericho scampered away and tagged in Owens. Reigns smirked as Owens was hesitant to get in the ring. Reigns immediately landed a couple of right hands and knocked Owens to the mat. Owens quickly tagged in Jericho and he also received a right hand to the face from Reigns.

Owens and Jericho tried to escape up the entrance ramp but Rollins and Reigns ran after them and brought them back to the ring. Raw went to a commercial break with Rollins and Reigns in control of the match. When Raw returned, Reigns was beating the hell out of Owens outside the ring. Back in the ring, Owens kicked Reigns in the face. Jericho was then tagged in and he applied a Chinlock to Reigns. Jericho followed it up by hitting a Dropkick.

Owens entered the match and continued the assault on Reigns. Jericho then slapped Reigns across the head several times. This fired up Reigns and he punched Jericho in the face. Jericho knocked Reigns to the mat and tagged in Owens. Reigns battled out of a Chinlock and landed a Samoan Drop to Owens. Rollins finally got back in the match and Clotheslined Jericho out of the ring.

Rollins then hit a Suicide Dive onto both Owens and Jericho. Reigns hit a Superman Punch onto Owens outside the ring. Rollins went for a Frog Splash on Jericho but Jericho got his knees up. Jericho then applied the Walls of Jericho to Rollins but Seth reached the bottom rope to break the hold. Reigns then hit a Superman Punch to Jericho. Braun Strowman then sprinted to the ring and attacked Roman Reigns. Owens and Jericho then attacked Seth Rollins. Strowman got into the ring and Owens and Jericho got out of there. Strowman then beatdown Rollins and hit a Running Powerslam. Owens and Jericho then rolled Roman Reigns into the ring and Strowman hit another Running Powerslam on Reigns. Raw went of the air with Strowman standing tall in the ring while Jericho and Owens laughed on the entrance ramp.

Reaction: Monday Night Raw was especially boring this week. The only thing I found interesting was the way the show ended. Braun Strowman laid out both Rollins and Reigns. All the promos during tonight’s show fell flat and another Reigns and Owens match doesn’t interest me at Royal Rumble doesn’t interest me that much. The Royal Rumble isn’t happening for six weeks. I’m hoping that the rest of the episodes of Raw leading up to the Royal Rumble aren’t as uneventful as this one.

Tommy Dreamer Speaks On His Beef With James Ellsworth, Drinking Undertaker’s Tobacco Spit

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I85h-knk7ik

During a recent appearance on Under The Mat Radio, former WWE and ECW star Tommy Dreamer took the opportunity to air out an issue he has with current SmackDown Live star James Ellsworth. Dreamer revealed that Ellsworth was booked for one of his House Of Hardcore events, and the deal fell through.

“Myself and now a mystery partner will be facing [The Spirit Squad] coming up at House of Hardcore 23, because WWE pulled James Ellsworth and I’m not happy about that,” Dreamer said. “James Ellsworth screwed over Dean Ambrose, that was storyline, but he screwed me over for real and I’m pissed off about it.”

Dreamer also talked about one of the strangest moments in his career — when he drank The Undertaker’s tobacco spit live on Monday Night RAW. He says it was rough to get through, but thinks anyone else in his position would have done the same.

“Yeah it was gross, it was real, I got $7,000 to do it and I got to wrestle the Undertaker three to four times,” Dreamer explained. “So I think anyone might do the same. Yeah that was rough, and it was live.”

WWE RAW Results & Discussion (12/19)

This week’s episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH.

– RAW opens up with fireworks, and the stage has Christmas trees and gifts all over it. We go right to the ring with Kevin Owens and Chris Jericho. Owens welcomes us to the “Chris and Kevin show,” then shows us highlights from last night’s Roadblock pay-per-view. Owens says the Codebreaker he took last night didn’t hurt as much as when he thought Jericho was no longer his best friend. Jericho says giving Owens the Codebreaker hurt him more than it hurt Owens, but he had to make the referee believe it was a legitimate interference. Jericho says he’s going to give Owens a gift — the hug of Jericho, bring it in mannnnn. Jericho talks about Santa Claus, and accuses him of stealing his “list” gimmick. He calls Santa a stupid idiot, and informs him that he just made The List. Mick Foley comes out to interrupt. He defends Santa Claus, then shows the footage of Jericho and Owens getting beat down by Rollins and Reigns after their match last night. Jericho cuts a promo on Foley for wearing a leather sport coat, and tells him it’s the worst thing he’s ever seen. Foley says he hasn’t seen anything yet, and he takes off his jacket to reveal a Christmas-themed shirt and a fanny pack. Foley accidentally calls the crowd Pittsburgh, PA, instead of Colombus, OH. Foley corrects himself, and Jericho and Owens try to cover for him with some heel remarks. Foley says he has a Christmas gift for them, and then he lowers a shark cage from the ceiling. Foley says at the Royal Rumble, it’s be Kevin Owens vs. Roman Reigns, with Chris Jericho suspended above the ring in a shark cage. Foley makes fun of the way Jericho says “again.” Jericho and Owens complain about the shoddy and unsafe construction of the shark cage, and that it says “made in Ohio” so it must be crap. Jericho stands inside to examine the construction, and he tells Foley to demonstrate that the door is solid. Foley locks Jericho in the cage, but then has trouble finding the key in his fanny pack among he other items in it. Foley says he messed up and forgot the key, and Jericho starts freaking out. Foley gives the signal to raise the cage, and it raises Jericho up into the air as he screams at Owens to save him. Jericho yells instructions backstage to work on finding him a key, and until then, he’ll remain hanging above the ring.

– Jericho was let down during the commercial break, and we see him backstage recovering. It turns out Jericho has a horrible fear of heights, and Owens has to get him an oxygen tank.

Rusev def. Big Cass via DQ: Enzo and Cass cut a promo before the match, but they’re cut short by Rusev’s entrance music. After only a couple of minutes, Cass starts stomping on Rusev in the corner and the referee instructs Cass to stop. Cass doesn’t stop, so the referee calls for the bell, and Rusev wins via disqualification. Rusev pushes Cass off of him and heads to the back.

– Sasha Banks comes out to the ring with a crutch and her leg in a cast, and talks about losing at Roadblock last night. She says Charlotte was the better woman, and that she doesn’t feel like a “boss” anymore. She asks for Charlotte to come out to the ring so she can congratulate her in person. Instead, Nia Jax comes out. Nia says Sasha will never be the boss to her because she’s weak. Nia kicks out Sasha’s crutch and throws her across the ring, then heads to the back.

– Mick Foley meets backstage with Sheamus and Cesaro, and he presents them with the new RAW Tag Team Titles, which have red straps with silver plates. Foley is quickly interrupted by a referee who says he needs to come help. We cut to Braun Strowman in the hallway beating up random people, looking for Sami Zayn. Foley confronts Strowman and tells him Zayn isn’t in the building. Strowman walks off angry.

Cedric Alexander def. Noam Dar: Alicia Fox is at ringside in Alexander’s corner. Alexander takes control early on with an elbow to the head, but Alexander comes back with a boot to the head. Dar goes up top for a double foot stomp, but Alexander rolls out of the way and drops him with a spinning kick to the head. Alexander follows up with a springboard flying clothesline, then the Lumbar Check for the win. Dar cuts a promo after the match, saying he wants Alicia Fox.

– The New Day comes out to talk about losing their Tag Titles last night at Roadblock. They’re interrupted by Sheamus and Cesaro, who are arguing with each other. Gallows and Anderson interrupt next. They call The New Day nerds, and say that Sheamus and Cesaro wouldn’t have beaten them if it weren’t for them softening up The New Day beforehand. The Shining Stars interrupt next, and promote their resort and hotel. Cesaro rips up their hotel brochure, and all four teams start brawling in the ring as we go to commercial break.

The New Day, Sheamus, & Cesaro def. The Shining Stars, Gallows, & Anderson: Gallows and Anderson take turns beating down Kofi early on. Anderson hits a spinning heel kick early on for a two count, then tags Gallows back in and works on Kofi in the corner with body shots. Gallows and Anderson continue to isolate Kofi and hit the Boot Of Doom for a near-fall. Kofi finally gets the hot tag to Big E, who hits Anderson with a series of three belly to belly suplex. Big E goes to follow up with a splash, but Sheamus tags himself in. Epico tags in, and immediately takes ten shots to the chest from Sheamus then a running senton. Cesaro tags in and assists Sheamus on hitting the White Noise on Epico. The aprons clear all eight men brawl in the ring until it’s down to Cesaro and Epico. Cesaro swings Epico then puts in the Sharpshooter for the win via submission.

– Neville comes out to the ring to cut a promo. He gets mad at the crowd for cheering for him last night when he beat down Perkins and Swann. Neville warns the cruiserweight division that he’s going to obliterate them, and with that, Rich Swann interrupts. Swann interrupts, and Neville tells him he has no respect. Swann gets in the ring and says that as long as he has the cruiserweight title, he’s the best. Brian Kendrick interrupts next, and says he’s on Neville’s side and says Swann has no respect for the pioneers of the division. Kendrick and Neville beat down Swann. TJ Perkins comes in for the save, but Neville single-handedly drops him while Kendrick stands back and watches. Neville leaves and Kendrick hits the Sliced Bread on Perkins.

– Backstage, we see that Enzo Amore is ordered to attend a sensitivity training class because he exposed himself on RAW last month. He shows up to class, and also in the room are Darren Young, Bob Backlund, Jinder Mahal, and Bo Dallas.

Titus O’Neil vs. Sin Cara – No Contest: Shortly after the bell, Braun Strowman interferes and lays out both men. Strowman throws Titus outside and hits a running powerslam on him onto the floor at ringside. Sin Cara comes flying out of the ring with a suicide dive, but Strowman catches him and slams him. Strowman carries Sin Cara up to the stage, where Mick Foley comes out and pleads with him to stop. Strowman throws Sin Cara through a Christmas tree and into a big pile of decorative gift boxes. Strowman leaves as referees help Sin Cara.

– Backstage, Jericho complains to Owens that he has “arachnophobia” and is scared of heights. Owens tells him to stop worrying about the cage, and focus on their match tonight. They say that tonight, Rollins and Reigns are going to get… it.

– Charlotte comes out and cuts a promo about now being a four-time Women’s Champion. Bayley interrupts and says she wants to congratulate Charlotte. Bayley says Charlotte vs. Sasha will go down as a great rivarly, and now it’s time for the Charlotte vs. Bayley rivalry to begin. With that, we have a match.

Bayley def. Charlotte: After several minutes of evenly matched offense, Bayley takes control of the match with a series of clotheslines. She throws Charlotte out to the apron, and gives her a neckbreaker back in the ring throug hthe ropes. Bayley spears Charlotte in the corner and follows up with a running elbow to the head. Bayley goes for a tornado DDT, but Charlotte escapes it and follows up with a moonsault for a two count. Charlotte hits the chops to the chest, then talks trash to Bayley. Bayley rolls up Charlotte quickly and scores the win. The replay shows that Charlotte’s right shoulder was up before the referee got to three.

– We take a look back at Enzo’s sensitivity training class. Bob Backlund and Darren Young do a role reversal exercise where they impersonate each other. Enzo does Jinder and makes fun of him, and Jinder comes back saying Enzo has little man syndrome. They get in each other’s faces, but their teacher tells them not to fight. At the end of the class, the teacher goes to hand Enzo his certification, but Enzo says he’s already certified. He starts flirting with the teacher, but then gets surrounded by Rusev and Jinder. They both jump Enzo and beat him down together. Lana then walks in and slaps Enzo across the face, and Rusev Rock Bottoms him through a table.

Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins & Roman Reigns – No Contest: Jericho and Owens control the opening moments of the match against Rollins. Owens and Jericho use frequent tags to stay on the offensive against Rollins. Rollins comes back with a suplex on Jericho, then gets the tag to Reigns. Owens tags in and Reigns starts working on him with right hands. Jericho and Rollins tag back in shortly after, but Owens pulls Jericho to the outside to avoid a splash from Rollins in the corner. Rollins and Reigns follow the heels to ringside and they brawl on the ramp until Rollins throws Jericho back in the ring. Reigns tags in and they double team Jericho. Owens tags in and Reigns goes to work on him with a series of clotheslines in the corner. Jericho runs in and Reigns drops him, then Reigns turns around into a superkick from Owens. Owens stomps on Reigns then tags in Jericho. Jericho works on Reigns, then levels him with a dropkick. After an assist from Owens at ringside, Jericho starts slapping Reigns in the back of the head. Owens tags in and he continues the beat down on Reigns. Reigns comes back with a Samoan Drop, then Rollins and Jericho tag in. Rollins hits Blockbusters off the middle rope on Jericho then Owens. He hits a neckbreaker and DDT combo on both Owens and Jericho at the same time. Rollins attempts a Pedigree on Jericho but he fights out, so Rollins kicks him in the head and clotheslines him to the outside. Rollins follows up with a suicide dive on both Jericho and Owens at ringside. Rollins throws Jericho back in the ring and hits a flying knee to the head. Rollins goes for a Frogsplash, but Jericho blocks it with his knees, then puts Rollins in the Walls of Jericho. Rollins reaches the ropes to break the hold. Jericho goes to hit a springboard dropkick onto Reigns on the apron, but Reigns superman punches him in mid-air. Reigns reaches for the tag from Rollins, but Braun Strowman comes out of nowhere and pulls Reigns off the apron. Strowman beats down Reigns at ringside as Owens and Jericho stomp on Rollins in the ring. Jericho and Owens run away, and Strowman beats down Rollins next. Owens and Jericho throw Reigns into the ring for Strowman. Strowman hits a running powerslam on Rollins, then on Reigns. Jericho and Owens head to the back as Strowman stares them down from the ring.

Finn Balor Talks About The Possibility Of Returning At The Royal Rumble

Former WWE Universal Champion Finn Balor recently spoke with ESPN about his recovery from shoulder surgery and when he expects to be back in action. Balor said he’s been wrestling full-time for 10 years and it’s unfortunate he got injured at SummerSlam. You can’t change the past and he’s keeping a positive attitude with his recovery. He plans to come back more well-roundd and focused than ever. “I’m excited about the Finn Balor that’s going to come back, as opposed to the Finn Balor that I left behind,” he said.

As for when he’ll be back in action, doctors have been telling him February is realistic. Right now, everything is on track for him to be a big part of WrestleMania season. That hasn’t stopped fans from speculating if he’ll be healthy in time to make a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble.

“You know, that’s obviously a huge rumor, and I would never be one to fuel the rumor mills,” he said with a smile, “But to be a surprise entrant in the Rumble would be a huge moment for me. I’m sure it would create quite a buzz,” he said. “But right now with the condition my shoulder is in, I’m not willing to risk sustaining any more long-term injury, just for the sake of two or three weeks. Since I got hurt, it was six months [out]. The target was to be back for WrestleMania. Everything’s on plan, everything’s on schedule.”

He added that if Vince McMahon approached him the day of the Rumble and asked if he has his gear, he’d be very tempted to get in the ring. However, he doesn’t want to risk it unless he’s 100% confident that his shoulder is healed.

Jim Ross Blogs About WWE Roadblock

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has updated his blog, which you can read in its entirety at JRsBarBQ.com. This installment focused on Sunday night’s Roadblock PPV from Pittsburgh. JR called is a ‘solid show’ but was perplexed by the “less than positive trends” as it relates to in ring execution and logic/psychology. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair Iron Man Match:

“There was lots of pressure on Sasha and Charlotte to have some sort of history making match in the 30 Minute Ironman Match. I enjoyed the match but how the finish was executed was perplexing to me unless it is going to lead to a persona change for either women. The live audience, arguably, harmed this match more than any on the card considering the stipulation and positioning on the card. I had no issue that this match did not close the show either.”

Roman Reigns vs. Kevin Owens:

“Tough situation to be in for both Roman Reigns, who is cast as the fan fav but he’s actually not, and for KO who is cast/booked as the villain but he’s cheered versus Reigns. These two worked hard of which I truly appreciate and respect but the run-on finish seemed to fall a bit flat but that may be just me. That matter will obviously be addressed Monday night on RAW so I’ll ‘stay tuned’ as they say in TV Land.”

WWE Roadblock: End of the Line 2016 Reaction

Kickoff Show:

Rusev vs Big Cass

Enzo cut a promo before the match and poked fun at Rusev and Lana. Big Cass controlled the match early. Rusev rolled out of the ring and tried to escapee through the crowd but Cass followed him. Rusev then returned to the outside of the ring. Lana pretended that Enzo shoved her and Rusev laid out Enzo. Big Cass then became distracted by this and Rusev rolled back in the ring. The referee then counted out Big Cass and Rusev win the match.

Winner via Countout: Rusev

Main Card:

Raw Tag Team Championship: New Day (c) vs Sheamus & Cesaro

Cesaro started off the match by leveling Kofi Kingston with a Dropkick. Sheamus entered the match and continued to beatdown Kofi. Cesaro tagged back in and connected with several uppercuts to Kingston. Kofi finally was able to tag in Big E and he immediately hit a Spear onto Sheamus on the ring apron. Both Sheamus and Big E went flying to the floor. Back in the ring, Big E connected with a Powerbomb on Sheamus.

Cesaro entered the match and immediately hit an uppercut. Cesaro was going for the Cesaro Swing but Kingston ran into the ring to break it up. Sheamus went to attack Kofi but he missed and accidentally struck Cesaro. Xavier Woods then kicked Cesaro and Big E hit the Big Ending on Cesaro. Big E went for the pinfall but Cesaro kicked out at two. Cesaro finally hit the Cesaro Swing and followed it up with a Sharpshooter. Kofi tapped out but the referee didn’t see it due to an Xavier Woods distraction.

The match continued and Cesaro connected with a Neutralizer onto Kingston. Big E broke up the pinfall. Cesaro tagged in Sheamus and then Cesaro flipped onto Big E outside the ring. Sheamus went for the Brogue Kick but Xavier Woods got in the way of Kingston. Kofi then hit the SOS on Sheamus but he kicked out at two. Sheamus then pretended to tag in Cesaro and Kofi hit the Trouble in Paradise on Cesaro. Kofi went for the pin on Cesaro but he was not the legal man. Sheamus then leaped onto Kingston and rolled him up for the victory.

Winners & New Raw Tag Team Champions: Sheamus & Cesaro

Reaction: It was only a matter of time before the New Day’s title reign came to an end. I didn’t think it would happen tonight but it did. Sheamus and Cesaro have become an entertaining team over the past month and I’m looking forward to see their title reign. After the match, Cesaro hugged the New Day and showed great sportsmanship. Sheamus then ripped the tag titles away from the New Day and raised both of them over his head. I’m guessing the storyline of Cesaro and Sheamus not being able to get along all of the time will continue. The match itself was entertaining and the New Day almost retained their titles several times. I’m glad they didn’t because their act had grown tired over the past couple of months. If they stay together, I’m sure the New Day will be Tag Team Champions once again in the near future.

Braun Strowman vs Sami Zayn (10 Minute Time Limit)

It took a minute for Strowman to get a hold of Zayn but once he did he launched him across the ring. Strowman spent the next few minutes beating the hell out of Zayn. Sami launched himself onto Strowman outside the ring but Braun caught him and dropped him face first onto the ring apron. Back in the ring, Strowman continued the beatdown of Zayn. Strowman connected with several Clotheslines and there was only four minutes left in the match.

Mick Foley then came down to the ring with a white towel in his hand. Strowman then launched Sami Zayn out of the ring and Sami landed at the feet of Foley. Strowman told Foley to throw the towel in the ring. Zayn then begged Foley not to do it. The crowd started to chant “let him fight”. Zayn grabbed the towel and launched it into the crowd. Strowman ran at Zayn but Sami ducked and Strowman hit the ring post. Strowman once again ran at Zayn but Sami got out of the way and Strowman went through the barricade.

Back in the ring, Strowman ran at Zayn once again but Sami ducked for a third time and Braun once again hit the ring post. Zayn then connected with a Crossbody off of the top and followed it up with a Helluva Kick. The time limit then expired and Sami Zayn won the match because Strowman was unable to defeat him within ten minutes.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Reaction: I thought something more would happen during this match. I figured that Sami would last the ten minutes but I thought Strowman would at least attack him once time expired. Instead, the time expired and that was the end of it. Strowman was frustrated in the ring and Zayn celebrated with Foley outside the ring. It just came off as very uneventful and meaningless to me. I guess you could say that Zayn showed that he will never quit. However, when you think about it Sami Zayn has already shown he belonged in the WWE. He’s defeated the current Universal Champion Kevin Owens this year. Zayn has essentially been running in place on Raw since the brand split. I’m not sure how much this match actually helped Sami Zayn and it did absolutely nothing for Braun Strowman. If he destroyed Zayn after the match, he would at least have become more hated by the WWE Universe.

Chris Jericho vs Seth Rollins

The match started out back and forth. Jericho gained control of the match by connecting with a Dropkick. Jericho beatdown Rollins in the corner and slapped him in the face a couple of times. The action spilled outside of the ring and Rollins hit a knee to the face of Jericho. Rollins then threw Jericho into the barricade surrounding the ring.

Back in the ring, Jericho hid behind the referee as Rollins chased after him. Jericho then poked Rollins in the eye and regained control of the match. Jericho landed another Dropkick and Rollins tumbled off of the ring apron. Rollins and Jericho traded chops in the ring but Jericho got the upper hand by hitting another Dropkick. Jericho went for the Lionsault but Rollins get up and shoved Jericho out of the ring. Rollins then hit a Suicide Dive onto Jericho outside the ring.

The action returned to the ring and Jericho quickly applied the Walls of Jericho. Rollins fought through the pain and eventually reached the bottom rope to break the hold. Rollins then climbed to the top turnbuckle and went for a Frog Splash but Jericho got out of the way and Seth landed on the mat. Jericho then landed a Lionsault and went for a pinfall but Rollins kicked out at two.

Rollins hit a Falcon Arrow for a two count. The crowd then broke out in a “stupid idiot” chant. Jericho and Rollins traded punches in the middle of the ring. Rollins got the upper hand and went for the Pedigree but Jericho blocked it. Jericho was then able to get Rollins in the Walls of Jericho for a second time. Rollins was able to roll through into a small package but Jericho kicked out at two.

Rollins connected with a kick to the face of Jericho and then hit a Frog Splash. Kevin Owens then ran to the ring and Rollins attacked him on the ring apron. Jericho then rolled up Rollins but the referee was distracted with Kevin Owens. Jericho then shouted at Owens and KO walked backstage. Rollins then hit the Pedigree on Jericho for the victory.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Reaction: After the match, Rollins stated that this was step one of his revenge tour. Next up will most likely be Kevin Owens and eventually he will battle Triple H. The friendship between Kevin Owens and Jericho seems irreparable at this point. Owens keeps trying to help out Jericho but everything is blowing up in his face. This does not bode well for his match later on tonight against Roman Reigns. Owens was probably trying to get Jericho to have his back during the match but that doesn’t seem likely at this point. It is only a matter of time before Owens and Jericho completely turn on each other and have a feud.

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rich Swann (c) vs TJ Perkins vs Brian Kendrick

Perkins started out the match in control and quickly went for the Knee Bar on Kendrick. Swann then connected with a double Hurricanrana onto Kendrick and Perkins. Kendrick then connected with a kick to the face on Swann and Perkins. Swann hit a Dropkick on Perkins and then Kendrick locked in the Captain’s Hook on Swann. Eventually, Perkins broke up the hold and then applied the Knee Bar to Kendrick in the middle of the ring. Swann broke up the hold by landing a Splash onto Perkins.

Kendrick went for Sliced Bread but Swann blocked it. Perkins then landed a kick to the face onto Kendrick who went flying out of the ring. Perkins then locked in the Knee Bar on Swann in the middle of the ring. Swann grabbed the bottom rope but Perkins didn’t have to break the hold due to it being a triple threat match. Perkins wound up breaking the hold anyway for some reason. Swann and Perkins then kicked Kendrick in the face. Swann then landed a kick to the face of Perkins and won the match.

After the match, Neville came down to the ring and attacked Rich Swann. Neville then beat the hell out of TJ Perkins as well. Neville then launched Swann into the barricade outside the ring. Neville did the same to TJ Perkins outside the ring as the crowd chanted “thank you Neville!”.

Winner & Still Cruiserweight Champion: Rich Swann

Reaction: The Cruiserweight division desperately needed something like this to happen. I’m not saying that Neville is going to save the entire division but at the very least this will get people talking. Neville hasn’t even been on Raw recently so obviously him joining the Cruiserweight division is a good oppurtunity for him. The crowd was absolutely dead for the Cruiserweight Championship match tonight and hopefully Superstars like Neville and eventually Austin Aries can generate some interest for the division. There is tremendous talent in the Cruiserweight division. Hopefully, the division gets more popular over time but they still need more than four minute matches on Raw for that to happen. The title match was decent tonight but it is hard to enjoy a match when it is abundantly clear that the audience in attendance doesn’t care about it at all.

Ironman Match For The Raw Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs Charlotte

The match started out back and forth for the first several minutes. Sasha locked in the Bank Statement five minutes in but Charlotte was able to roll out of the ring. Sasha followed her and hit the Double Knees. Sasha Banks continued on the offensive for the next few minutes and connected with a Suicide Dive onto Charlotte outside the ring.

Charlotte finally got in some offense and kicked out the legs of Sasha on the ring apron and Banks fell into the steel steps outside the ring. Charlotte then rolled Sasha into the ring and went for the pinfall but Banks kicked out at two. Sasha battled back and connected with a Crossbody. Sasha’s momentum was short-lived as Charlotte planted her with a Neckbreaker. Charlotte controlled the next few minutes but Sasha eventually battled back and beatdown Charlotte in the corner. Banks climbed to the top rope and went for a Crossbody but Charlotte rolled out of the way. Charlotte then connected with the Natural Selection but Banks kicked out at two. Charlotte and Sasha battled on the top turnbuckle. Charlotte hit the Natural Selection on Banks off the top rope and scored the first pinfall.

Charlotte spent the next minute taunting Sasha and slapping her in the face. Sasha battled back and rolled up Charlotte to even the score at 1-1. Charlotte went for a Moonsault but Sasha got out of the way and applied the Bank Statement. Charlotte was stuck in the middle of the ring and had no choice but to tap out making the score 2-1 in the favor of Sasha Banks.

Charlotte then desperately tried to even the score for the next several minutes. Charlotte targeted most of her offense on the left knee of Sasha Banks. The match had two minutes left and Charlotte finally applied the Figure Four. Charlotte dragged Sasha to the middle of the ring and Banks was able to reverse it. Charlotte then rolled through and reversed the hold once again. Sasha then tapped out with two seconds left on the clock.

The match then became sudden death and the next pinfall wins. Charlotte had a giant grin on her face. Charlotte once again went for the Figure Four but Banks blocked it. Sasha then went for the Bank Statement but Charlotte reversed it into the Figure Four. Sasha Banks was bleeding profusely from her mouth and nose. Charlotte then bridged the Figure Four into the Figure Eight and Sasha Banks tapped out.

Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Reaction: First of all, this was an awesome match. I’ll just get that out of the way early. Personally, this feud has been boring to me for a long time now. I believe that Charlotte and Sasha Banks constantly trading the Raw Women’s Championship back and forth has done nothing for the division on Raw and it took all of the emotion out of this match. On paper, Sasha Banks tapping out with two seconds left should be dramatic. I think most of the people in the arena knew it was going to happen. Most everyone knew that Charlotte would continue to be undefeated at PPVs and would recapture the Raw Women’s Championship.

I don’t know why anyone thought it would be a good idea to have these two Superstars wrestle each other over and over again. Obviously, they work very well together but people are just sick of seeing it. Everyone should have been pumped to see this match but that wasn’t the case because it feels like we’ve seen 25,000 Sasha Banks and Charlotte matches. Despite all of that, this match was very good and would have been much better if the audience wasn’t so tired of seeing these two wrestle each other. Hopefully, this feud is finally over and other female Superstars on the Raw roster will finally be given the oppurtunity to show what they are capable of on Monday nights.

WWE Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens vs Roman Reigns

Kevin Owens spent the beginning of the match trying to avoid Reigns. Roman followed him out of the ring and punched him in the face. Reigns then brought Owens back into the ring but Owens rolled out of the ring once again. Reigns chased him but Owens continued to avoid him. Back in the ring, Owens knocked Reigns down and applied a Chinlock. Reigns powered out and beatdown Owens in the corner. Once again, Owens crawled out of the ring to try to get away from Reigns.

Roman caught Owens outside the ring and launched him into the barricade. Reigns then cleared off the German announce table but Owens got up and punched him in the face. Owens rolled Reigns into the ring and connected with a Senton. Owens then landed several knees and kicks to the head and body of Roman Reigns. Owens continued to control the match and threw Reigns into the steel steps outside the ring. Owens then hit a Senton off the top of the steel steps.

Back in the ring, Owens continued to control the match and took Reigns to Chinlock City in the middle of the ring. Owens mocked Reigns while applying the Chinlock by shouting “I’m the guy!”. Owens had the Chinlock applied for the next several minutes and continued to taunt Reigns the entire time. Finally, Reigns battled out of the hold and planted Owens with a Clothesline.

Reigns went for a Samoan Drop but Owens countered it into a German Suplex. Owens went for the Cannonball but Reigns got up and this time connected with a Samoan Drop. Reigns went for a Superman Punch but Owens reversed it into a DDT. Owens mocked Roman Reigns and hit a Cannonball. Roman Reigns shrugged off the Cannonball and got to his feet and landed a Superman Punch. Reigns went for the pinfall but Owens kicked out at two.

A “Roman sucks” chant began throughout the crowd as Reigns beatdown Owens in the corner. Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens battled on the top turnbuckle as some of the fans in the arena started to chant “lets go Roman!”. Reigns then hit a Superman Punch while Owens was seated on the top turnbuckle. Reigns went for a Superplex but Owens countered it into a Superplex of his own. Owens went for the pin but Reigns powered out at two.

Owens went for a Swanton off of the top rope but Reigns got his knees up. Reigns was setting up for the Spear but Owens rolled out of the ring. Reigns followed him to the outside and connected with the Drive By. Reigns rolled Owens back into the ring but once again Owens rolled to the outside. Reigns went for the Drive By again but Owens moved out of the way and landed two kicks to the Roman’s face. Reigns was laid out on the German announce table and Owens hit a Frog Splash but the table didn’t break. Owens then hit a second Frog Splash and the table broke.

Roman Reigns got back into the ring just before the referee counted to ten. Right when he got into the ring, Owens hit another Frog Splash on Reigns and went for the win but Reigns kicked out. Owens went for a Superkick but Reigns caught him and planted him with a Powerbomb. Owens hit the Pop-up Powerbomb but Reigns got his foot on the bottom rope to break up the pinfall.

Owens went to the outside of the ring and grabbed his Universal Championship. The referee tried to grab the title from Owens and Reigns connected with a Spear. Chris Jericho then sprinted to the ring and stood between both Reigns and Owens whom were lying on the mat. Jericho then hit a Codebreaker on Kevin Owens and the referee called for the bell. The referee then disqualified Roman Reigns due to the interference by Jericho.

After the match, Jericho presented Owens with the Universal Championship with a gigantic smile on his face. Jericho and Owens hugged in the ring and Roman Reigns angrily looked on. Seth Rollins then emerged from backstage and Rollins and Owens retreated. Reigns laid out Owens with a Spear and Rollins hit Jericho with a Pedigree. Rollins and Reigns then Powerbombed Jericho through the Spanish announce table. Rollins then chased down Owens on the entrance ramp. Rollins and Reigns then Powerbombed Owens through the announce table to close out the show.

Winner & Still Universal Champion: Kevin Owens

Reaction: I fell for it again. I actually thought that Jericho and Owens friendship was over but that is clearly not the case. The Universal Championship match was very solid and I’m happy that Kevin Owens retained the title. The crowd wasn’t that receptive to the Shield reunion during Roadblock, it will be interesting to see if that trend continues on the next few episodes of Raw. I think Rollins will now focus his attention on Owens and he may wind up being the one that finally takes the Universal Championship off of him. Overall, WWE Roadblock: End of the Line was simply a decent show.

The main issue I had with the show is that a lot of the matches were hindered by the lack of a quality build. There was some good wrestling on the show but it just felt underwhelming. I would attribute that to the lack of build to the matches on the card and the fact that many of the outcomes to the matches were predictable. If this were a Smackdown PPV, I would have been disappointed. I’ve grown to expect a mediocre product when it comes to anything associated with Monday Night Raw. Smackdown and Raw are both under the umbrella of the WWE but somehow feel like two different companies. In my opinion, the best/easiest way to judge a show is to think of it through the eyes of someone tuning into the product for the first time. If Roadblock was the first time someone ever watched WWE programming, do you think that they would want to watch Raw tomorrow night? I doubt they would.

Kofi hits the Trouble In Paradise on Sheamus, but Sheamus kicks out. Sheamus goes to tag in Cesaro, but Cesaro pulls his hand away at the last second and still runs in. Sheamus is still the legal man, but Kofi thinks Cesaro is, so he rolls up Cesaro, then Sheamus comes back and rolls up Kofi for the win. Cesaro and Sheamus are now the Tag Team Champions.

– Kevin Owens cuts a promo backstage about how him and Chris Jericho are still best friends. Jericho walks out of his locker room, and Ownes immediately approaches him to apologize for Monday. Owens gives Jericho a Holiday scarf, but Jericho discards it in disgust.

Sami Zayn def. Braun Strowman: There’s a timer in the bottom right corner of the screen, and if Sami “survives” for ten minutes he wins. Sami chops Strowman across the chest for the first offensive move of the match, but it doesn’t effect Strowman. Sami follows up with a dropkick then jumps on Braun and pummels on his head. Strowman throws Sami off of him with authority, then hits a big running splash in the corner. Sami goes to follow up with a suicide dive, but Strowman catches him and slams him face-first into the ring apron. Strowman throws Sami back in the ring, then follows up with a running splash in the corner and a short-arm clothesline. Strowman pins him, but then lifts him up at the one count. Zayn attempts to fight back, but Strowman drops him with a forearm then hits a powerslam. Strowman drops him again with a clothesline, then Mick Foley walks out with a white towel. Strowman takes Zayn outside to confront Foley. Strowman drops Zany at ringside then tells Foley he should throw in the towel. Strowman tries another on Zayn up against the fan barricade, but Zayn moves and Strowman goes crashing through the barricade. Back in the ring, Strowman misses a spear in the corner and hits the ring post. Zayn follows up with a splash off the top for a two count. Zayn hits a running big boot in the corner, then the timer hits :00 and Zayn has won. Zayn and Foley walk to the back as Strowman looks on from the ring.

Seth Rollins def. Chris Jericho: After some back and forth action in the opening minutes, things go to the outside where Rollins hits a flying knee off the apron to the face of Jericho. Rollins attempts to jump over the top rope back into the ring, but Jericho catches him in mid-air with a springboard dropkick that sends Rollins back to ringside. Jericho controls the next several minutes of the match, until Rollins fires up and drops him with the Sling Blade. Rollins follows up with some running forearms in the corner, but after a brief exchange Jericho drops him and hits a Lionsault for a two count. They brawl back and forth on their knees on the mat, and after some back and forth action, Rollins drops Jericho with a superkick then hits a Frogsplash off the top. Kevin Owens runs in and gets on the apron, distracting Rollins. Jericho rolls up Rollins from behind but Rollins kicks out, and Jericho gets distracted by Owens. Jericho turns around into a knee to the face from Rollins. Rollins goes for another in the corner but Jericho moves out of the way. Jericho goes for the Codebreaker, but Rollins escapes it and hits the Pedigree on Jericho for the win.

Rich Swann def. Brian Kendrick vs. TJ Perkins: Austin Aries is on commentary for this one. Swann and Kendrick go to the outside early on, and Perkins drops Kendrick with a dropkick through he ropes. Back in the ring, Swann kicks Kendrick in the head from behind, and then he hurricanranas both Perkins and Kendrick. Swann uses Perkins as a springboard to jump onto Kendrick, and pins him for a two count. Kendrick comes back and boots both Perkins and Swann in the face. Kendrick gets Swann in the Hook, but Swann breaks it up and gets Kendrick in a knee bar until Swann breaks that up with a senton splash. After some back and forth action, Swann and Perkins briefly align to knock out Kendrick with a double superkick. Swann immediately turns around and hits Perkins with a spinning kick to the head for the win to retain the Cruiserweight Title. After the match, Neville comes out. Neville comes in and acts like he’s going to congratulate Swan, but instead beats down Swann. Perkins tries to break it up, and Neville drops him with a kick. Neville boots Swann in the face then throws him outside and slams him into the fan barricade. The fans chant “Thank you Neville” as he beats down Swann and Perkins around ringside.

– Backstage, we see Kevin Owens pleading with Chris Jericho through his locker room door to forgive him. Jericho’s door remains locked and he doesn’t respond. Owens tells Jericho’s door that he guesses they aren’t best friends anymore, and says he is really hurt.

Charlotte def. Sasha Banks: This match is a 30-minute match under Ironman rules. The women start things off slow and go back and forth with offense, until Sasha fires up and hits a bevy of strikes and double knees. Sasha misses a cross body off the top, and Charlotte comes back with a Natural Selection for a two count. They go up to the top rope and Charlotte hits the Natural Selection from the top for the first fall of thematch. The second fall comes shortly after what appeared to have been a botched roll-up, and Sasha covers Charlotte for the second fall of the match, and they’re tied up. The third fall comes when Sasha avoids a moonsault from Charlotte, then gets her in the Banks Statement and Charlotte taps out. Charlotte immediately starts working on Sasha’s knee, then gets in the Figure Eight leg lock, and Sasha taps out, tieing them up again at 2-2. The clock runs out, and they go into sudden-death overtime. Sasha gets Charlotte in the Banks Statement again, but Charlotte fights out and gets Sasha in the Figure Four again. Sasha is bleeding from her mouth or nose, and Charlotte puts her in the Figure Eight for the victory via tapout. Sasha is bleeding pretty decently and the referees wipe her down with towels.

Kevin Owens def. Roman Reigns via DQ: Owens’ WWE Universal Title is on the line in this one. Owens rolls to the outside as soon as the bell sounds and he circles the ring. He rolls back in and wrestles Reigns down to the mat and gets him in a chin lock. Reigns powers out with a back suplex and pins for a one count. Paige VanZant Says She Wants To Join WWE After She’s Done In UFC

UFC Strawweight competitor Paige VanZant says she still plans to cross over to pro wrestling and compete for WWE when her days in the cage are over. VanZant competed in the main event of Saturday night’s UFC on FOX show, losing via 1st round submission to “The Karate Hottie” Michelle Waterson. CM Punk’s first UFC opponent, Mickey Gall, also competed on the show.

Prior to her fight against Michelle Waterson, VanZant confirmed that her management team has had talks with WWE and she would love to “transfer over” to the squared circle in the near future.

“It’s definitely something I see myself competing in, I think it’s an amazing organisation and I would love to transfer into the WWE. Right now I am making a run at the UFC and I’m still really strong and confident in what I’m doing now but eventually, yeah I’d love to transfer over”. She added that she’d probably want to be a heel in WWE “to switch things up” and named The Rock as someone she’d like to work with in WWE.

Earlier this year there was talk of Paige VanZant appearing at WWE SummerSlam, but that never came to fruition. It will be interesting to see if the 22 year old fighter appears for WWE in 2017.

NJPW Owner: “We Are Entering a Phase Where You Are Either With WWE or Against Them”

The owner of New Japan Pro Wrestling Takaaki Kidani issued a statement during this weekends’ Road to Tokyo Dome events regarding WWE’s recent talent acquisition strategy and how NJPW will be ‘fighting back,’ you can read the full transcript below:

“WWE strategy 1: raise roughly 2 billion Yen from the network to create a network of global territories and tie up talent. It’s very possible WWE purchase a promotion in Japan. WWE are shoring up their network because of cable cutters and prevalence of streaming, meaning declining TV ratings. The cable TV structure as is will collapse in the US within 3-5 years. There are many reasons for WWE to create local territories. It cuts cost just to send talent on international tours and not the whole infrastructure. WWE are only functionally profitable in the U.S., Canada and U.K. They have TV elsewhere but that’s all. By creating territories, they’re able to actually create products with awareness of cultural differences and characteristics of markets. WWE have had difficulty in creating new stars. By going to local territories and broadcasting them, they can create network stars. WWE are taking big gambles, in IT for one. This isn’t the platform to discuss NJPW strategy fully but we will announce something soon. We are entering a phase where you are either with WWE or against them. WWE have a lot of weaknesses and time is not on their side.”

It looks like Mick Foley will be absent from RAW for the rest of December. According to a report by Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the WWE Hall of Famer will be taking time off to be with his family and do volunteer work as Santa Claus.

A rep from WWE reportedly told Pro Wrestling Sheet that Foley is booked to return on the Monday, January 2nd edition of RAW, where he will resume his role as the show’s GM. The WWE rep noted that Foley is not suspended or released.

Tommy Dreamer Talks About Joey Styles’ Recent Controversy

Hardcore wrestling legend Tommy Dreamer recently spoke with Wrestledelphia to promote Friday’s House of Hardcore 22 event from Philadelphia. Among the topics discussed, Dreamer commented on Joey Styles getting fired from Evolve and other promotions after making a Donald Trump joke during an iPPV. Despite the fact that Styles directly disobeyed instructions from his then-boss Gabe Sapolsky to avoid political references, Dreamer thinks it was wrong for Styles to be let go.

“I thought it was complete and utter BS,” he said. “You can’t fire somebody from an independent company unless you’re giving them full-time salary. It did not have to be made public. It could have just been ‘hey, after the show I’m not going to use you anymore, thank you, and goodbye.’ But that wasn’t the case. If there was ever a person who is a great human being, an amazing husband, an amazing father, an all-around great person, it’s Joey Styles.”

“There was people then calling him racist, homophobic. If there was ever a miscast upon somebody, where it got him to be so, I want to say upset, not even mad about the business, where he just stopped being on social media because he was heartbroken as an individual. It was all BS, could have been avoided, should have been avoided, but it’s ok because he moved forward.”

If Joey Styles ever returns to the world of professional wrestling, would Tommy Dreamer welcome him at House of Hardcore? “Absolutely,” he said. “He may happen to be a surprise Friday or Saturday, you never know what’s going to happen.”

Booker T Talks About His Decision To Run For Mayor Of Houston

On a recent episode of his Heated Conversations radio show, WWE Hall of Famer Booker T talked about his decision to run for Mayor of Houston in 2019. Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Staying Relevant:

“I love embracing where I am at in life. Right now, at this stage of my life, it is awesome. To still be part of WWE. I was talking to a guy last week and I told him that, it’s cool to still be relevant. Still be who I am to be able to do what I do. He looked at me and said, you know, I don’t like the word relevant. For you, that’s not a good word. I said, what I mean by staying relevant is that you have so many young guys coming up and doing so many incredible things, we have to take a step aside and tell them, hey man, go for it.”

“Do what you do; and to stay relevant during that storm, and people still wanting to see you do the Spinaroonie, and do the 5-Time, and want to take a photo of Booker T when he walks out of the house; that means a whole lot to stay relevant within the storm of everything going on because you can actually get lost in that storm and never be heard of or seen ever again, and like I said, for me, I’ve had a 26 year career like a snowball going downhill, it just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger. Now, you’ve heard it–in 2020 I’m preparing myself to run for the Mayor of the city of Houston, and I’m going to need a lot of support for that, and as long as I keep becoming the person that I am right now, I think I can get a lot of support towards my election.”

Gearing Up To Run For Mayor:

“You go with your gut instinct, your intuition. I think that has to do with, as for me and the decisions I make, I think running for Mayor came for me in the middle of the night–in a vision. I said that this is something that I had to do, just a couple of nights ago when I was at a Boxing event. It came to me at this Boxing match that I have to run for Mayor of the city. I called my wife and I told her that I’m running for Mayor, and she started laughing. It was like the biggest laugh in the world.”

“I went home, and told her again that I’m running for Mayor. She’s still laughing at me. She knows how stupid I am, and then I woke up the next morning talking to somebody on the phone about it, and she goes, are you still talking about that nonsense about you running for Mayor? I said, baby, I have to do this. She said, do you know how much work I’m going to have to do? She already does all the work now for Reality of Wrestling, and everything else, along with my bookings and everything, she’s the one doing it. I definitely think I have a chance. I think that the time is now, and it’s no better time than right now for Booker T to make a run for it.”

Disappointing Viewership For Total Nonstop Deletion

Thursday’s “Total Nonstop Deletion” edition of Impact Wrestling on Pop TV drew 329,000 viewers. This is up from the previous week’s 303,000 viewers, but not the number TNA was hoping for considering the buzz that went into the show. Impact ranked 105 in the top 150 shows on cable for the night.

Total Nonstop Deletion was wildly entertaining and received rave reviews from fans online, so hopefully the modest-sized audience doesn’t affect TNA’s willingness to allow Broken Matt and company this level of creative freedom moving forward.

WWE Roadblock: End Of The Line Predictions & Match Breakdown

Big Cass vs Rusev

Breakdown: The build to this match has mainly focused on Enzo Amore and Rusev. Enzo got suckered into meeting Lana at a hotel and Rusev beat the hell out of him. Big Cass now has his chance avenge his friend Enzo in a match against Rusev.

Prediction: This is a tough match to predict. Enzo and Cass haven’t really been in the Tag Team Championship seen at all recently. I wouldn’t be surprised if the WWE wants to start a singles push for Big Cass. I think Enzo and Cass are a solid tag team but once you get past the entrance, they have the same match every time. Enzo gets destroyed and then Big Cass gets tagged in and takes care of business. In a perfect world, Rusev wins this match but Big Cass has a good showing.

Winner: Rusev

Sami Zayn vs Braun Strowman (10 Minute Time Limit)

Breakdown: Sami Zayn has been obsessed with Strowman the past few weeks and Braun simply couldn’t care less. The two Superstars had a match a couple of weeks ago and Raw GM Mick Foley put a stop to it because Zayn couldn’t defend himself. Zayn demanded a rematch and finally Foley caved in and gave it to him this Sunday at Roadblock. Foley also put a 10 minute time limit on the match.

Prediction: I cannot come up with a scenario in which it would make sense for Sami Zayn to win this match. Obviously, Sami Zayn has been underutilized on Raw since the brand split. However, Raw has spent far too much time building up Braun Strowman for him to lose a relatively meaningless match against Sami Zayn. I think Sami Zayn will last the 10 minutes and that will piss Strowman off. The match will conclude with Strowman beating down Zayn after the 10 minute mark was reached. Foley may come out to try to put a stop to it and maybe Strowman will attack him as well. I think this would be a good way to show that Sami Zayn never quits and that Braun Strowman is an uncontrollable monster that the Raw locker room should fear.

Raw Tag Team Championship Match: New Day (c) vs Sheamus & Cesaro

Breakdown: This match was announced at Tribute to the Troops on Wednesday. Sheamus and Cesaro defeated Golden Truth, Gallows & Anderson and The Shining Stars in a Fatal 4-Way match to become the #1 contenders. The New Day are now the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history.

Prediction: A lot of people seem to believe that the New Day’s title reign is coming to an end. Sheamus and Cesaro got off to a rocky start when it came to crowd reactions but they have overcome that. They now work well as a tag team and are pretty much the only team on Raw that is ready to take the titles from the New Day. I think that will happen in due time. However, I do not think that will happen at Roadblock.

Winners & Still Tag Team Champions: New Day

Cruiserweight Championship Match: Rich Swann (c) vs The Brian Kendrick vs TJ Perkins

Breakdown: TJ Perkins lost the Cruiserweight title to Kendrick and then Kendrick lost it to Swann. On 205 Live, TJ Perkins submitted Rich Swann in the middle of the ring. On Monday Night Raw, Kendrick defeated Perkins easily. Perkins and Swann are friends but they seem ready to turn on each other. Kendrick’s strategy has been to play mind games with both Swann and Perkins.

Prediction:  This is one of those matches that could go a million different ways. I don’t like the idea of Kendrick getting the title back so quickly. He really doesn’t need it. I think that the WWE has been dropping some subtle hints that Perkins is gearing up for a heel turn. His interactions with Swann backstage have been bizarre. I think Rich Swann is going to retain his title but Perkins is going to attack him after the match. Brian Kendrick may even join in on the attack or simply smile and cheer Perkins on.

Winner & Still Cruiserweight Champion: Rich Swann

Seth Rollins vs Chris Jericho

Breakdown: Rollins and Jericho have been battling for awhile now. Rollins was mainly focused on Kevin Owens but Jericho kept getting involved in their matches. Rollins hit a Pedigree on Jericho on top of a car a couple of weeks ago on Raw. Seth wants to defeat Jericho, take the Universal Championship from Kevin Owens and then fight Triple H. Jericho has a lot on his mind but mainly his beloved list and his broken friendship with Kevin Owens.

Prediction: The only way Jericho can win this match is by some sort of outside interference. I do not believe that Triple H will be showing up at WWE Roadblock but you never know. I think it is more likely that this match is earlier in the show and Kevin Owens tries to help Jericho out. Owens is desperate to fix his friendship with Jericho. If he can accomplish that, maybe Jericho will show up later in the night in Owens’ title defense against Roman Reigns. Even if Owens interferes, I think Rollins overcomes it and still wins the match.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Iron Man Match For The Raw Women’s Championship: Sasha Banks (c) vs Charlotte

Breakdown: Sasha Banks and Charlotte have essentially been trading the Raw Women’s Championship back and forth since the brand split. Sasha Bansk won the title back on Raw recently and celebrated with Ric Flair in the ring. The following week, Charlotte pretended to apologize to her father for embarrassing him back in May on Raw. Charlotte once again talked down to Ric Flair and then beat up Sasha Banks in front of him. Ric Flair stood there helplessly as his daughter beatdown Banks.

Prediction: Charlotte is undefeated at PPVs and I wouldn’t be surprised if that continues. I think this match will be excellent and will showcase how talented both Sasha Banks and Charlotte are. However, I think the ending will involve Ric Flair helping out his daughter Charlotte. I don’t think the WWE is bringing back Ric Flair as an on-screen character for him to be in the corner of Sasha Banks. Thus, the Raw Women’s Championship will once again change hands and Charlotte will leave Pittsburgh with the title.

Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Charlotte

Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (c) vs Roman Reigns

Breakdown: Roman Reigns has gotten the upper hand on Owens recently. Roman Reigns both want the Universal Championship. Reigns gets his shot on Sunday and Rollins battles Owens’ former best friend Chris Jericho. Reigns has already defeated Kevin Owens clean recently and that victory gave him the oppurtunity at the Universal Championship.

Prediction: Much like the Jericho and Rollins match, the only way Owens can win this match is by someone interfering. Owens has been booked as a paper champion his whole title reign. He has relied on Chris Jericho to help him retain his Universal Championship. If Jericho or Triple H does not interfere, there is no way Kevin Owens is going to defeat Roman Reigns at Roadblock. Roman Reigns is currently the United States Champion and that is the only thing preventing me from picking him this Sunday. I think the person that is going to take the Universal Championship from Owens will be Seth Rollins. I think Owens retains by getting himself disqualified, running out of the arena or outside interference.

Winner & Still Universal Champion: Kevin Owens
