WWE SmackDown Results & Live Discussion (2/21)

The February 21st edition of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, CA.

– SmackDown opens up with a highlight package detailing Bray Wyatt’s WWE Championship win, and Randy Orton’s pledge not to fight him. 10 SmackDown stars will face off tonight for the right to face Wyatt at WrestleMania for the World Title.

– SmackDown general manager Daniel Bryan makes his way out to the ring and introduces Women’s Champion Naomi. Bryan talks about his experience in needing to relinquish a championship belt due to injury, and that now Naomi will have to do that due to the injury she sustained at Elimination Chamber. Naomi reluctantly hands over the Women’s Title belt to Bryan, and is emotional about the possibility she will miss her WrestleMania moment. SmackDown needs a new Women’s Champion, and Alexa Bliss comes out to help Daniel Bryan decide. Alexa proposes that she is given the Women’s Title since she can compete. Bryan says he won’t give it to her, but she will give her a match against Becky Lynch, and that match is right now.

Alexa Bliss def. Becky Lynch: Becky hits some arm drags early on and controls the opening moments of the match. Becky continues working on Alexa’s arm until Alexa comes back with some elbow strikes. Becky comes back and dominates the next few moments of the match until there’s a ref bump and Alexa hits Becky in the throat. Alexa rolls up Becky for the three count to win the Women’s Title. After the match, Mickie James tries to beat down Becky, but Becky fights her off.

– Dean Ambrose cuts a promo backstage saying he’s going to try to break Baron Corbin’s tonight leg in retaliation for beating him down.

– Kalisto cuts a brief backstage promo saying he plans to head into WrestleMania strong.

– The Miz is backstage with Maryse. The Miz lists the movies he’s been in, but says his biggest role will be winning the Championship at WrestleMania.

– Natalya cuts a scathing promo on Nikki Bella mentioning her “silicone” and calling her fake.

American Alpha def. Breezango: Breeze and Fandango attack the champions before the bell and control the majority of the opening moments of the match. Breeze works on Jordan until Fandango and Gable both get the tags. American Alpha throws Breeze outside, then hits the Steiner-style top-rope bulldog on Fandango for the win after a short match. After the bell, The Usos pop up in the crowd with microphones and call out American Alpha. They challenge them to a fight, but not tonight.

– AJ Styles is walking backstage where he brags to a random guy that he’s going to the main event of WrestleMania.

– Dolph Ziggler is in front of a green screen cutting a promo saying the new era of WWE is cancelled, because no one can replace him. Ziggler dropkicks the green screen and it “drops” to show a “backstage area.”

– Mojo Rawley cuts a promo backstage about his intent to head to WrestleMania.

– Luke Harper is in a dimly lit room where he also cuts a promo, saying that his years following Bray Wyatt will not stop him from going to WrestleMania.

– Nikki Bella does an interview backstage where she says she’s going to prove to Natalya tonight that she’s not just a pretty face.

Natalya def. Nikki Bella: This one is a falls count anywhere match. Nikki hits a spear and a kick early on for a two count, then goes outside for some weapons. Natalya gets some offense in at ringside, but Nikki grabs a kendo stick and comes back. Nikki throws Natalya over the fan barricade an they brawl through the crowd. Natalya tries to suplex Nikki off of a platform onto the floor, but Nikki pushes her off and hits a flying roundhouse kick for a two count. Back at ringside, Natalya mounts a comeback and throws Nikki into the steel ring steps for a two count. Natalya tries to powerbomb Nikki through the announce table, but Nikki punches her way out of the powerbomb attempt. Nikki hits an Alabama Slam on Natalya onto the announce table for a two count. Back in the ring, Natalya gets Nikki in a Sharpshooter, but Nikki reaches the ropes. They leave the ring and brawl on the entrance ramp, where Natalya suplexes her before heading to the backstage area. They brawl on some production equipment and into the hallways of the arena. Natalya throws Nikki and she knocks over Maryse, who was walking by. Nikki throws Natalya head-first into a mirror for a two count. They brawl back out onto the stage where Nikki spears Natalya for another two count. Natalya drops Nikki on the ramp and goes for the Sharpshooter, but Nikki reverses and puts Natalya in an STF. Maryse comes out with a pipe and starts beating down Nikki. Maryse hits Nikki in the knee with the pipe several times, then Natalya puts her in the Sharpshooter for the win via submission.

– Baron Corbin cuts a promo backstage saying he loves destruction and inflicting pain, and he’s going to win in the battle royal tonight.

– Apollo Crews is in the dressing room where he cuts a promo about the upcoming battle royal, and says he’s especially going after Dolph Ziggler tonight.

– Bray Wyatt cuts a promo praising Randy Orton’s sacrifice of his title shot. Bray says Orton has earned the keys to the kingdom, and all of his secrets. Wyatt says whoever wins the battle royal tonight, will be his sacrificial lamb at WrestleMania.

#1 Contender Battle Royal: Dean Ambrose is the last to enter and he jumps in the crowd of his 9 opponents and everyone begins brawling as the opening bell rings. Corbin drops several men until Mojo Rawley stops him and hits a running splash in the corner. Mojo goes to follow up with a second splash, but Corbin ducks and backdrops Mojo outside for the elimination. Kalisto starts laying people out with kicks. Ziggler and Kalisto start fighting on the apron where Ziggler starts grabbing at his mask, then superkicks Kalisto down to the floor for the elimination. Ziggler starts hitting Apollo Crews from the apron, but Crews kicks him in the head and Ziggler falls to the floor for the elimination. Mojo, Kalisto, and Ziggler have all been eliminated. Ziggler starts beating down Kalisto at ringside with a chair, which distracts Crews, and Corbin pushes Crews outside for the elimination. Crews takes the chair from Ziggler and chases him backstage. Back in the ring, Cena and Styles are going at it. Styles escapes an AA, and Harper superkicks Cena. AJ hits the Pele Kick on Harper, then The Miz takes advantage of his exhausted opponents with a series of dropkicks in the different corners of the ring. Miz hits a series of kicks on Cena, but Cena ducks the last one then throws Miz outside for the elimination. Cena suplexes both Ambrose and Styles at the same time, then hits a back suplex on Styles. Cena attempts a Five Knuckle Shuffle, but Corbin catches him with the End Of Days. Corbin charges at Ambrose, but Ambrose ducks and pulls down the rope, and Corbin is now eliminated. Corbin pulls Ambrose outside under the ropes and hits the End of Days on the ringside floor. It’s down to Ambrose, Cena, Harper and Styles. The Miz sneaks in the ring and throws John Cena over the top rope, which still counts as an elimination even though Miz himself was eliminated earlier. Cena tries to go back in the ring, but is hauled off by referees as The Miz runs through the crowd. Harper tries to eliminate Styles, but Ambrose knocks them both to the apron. Harper pulls Ambrose out to the apron next, and all three remaining competitors are now on the apron. Ambrose gets Styles on his shoulders, and Harper superkicks Ambrose. AJ falls back in the ring, but Ambrose falls to the floor at ringside and he’s eliminated. It’s down to Harper and Styles. Harper and AJ brawl up the turnbuckle on the corner until Harper falls into the ring. AJ follows Harper in the ring and starts working on him with kicks. Harper and Styles start fighting on the turnbuckle and apron again, and Harper appears to throw AJ out, but Mauro says there’s confusion about whose feet touched first. Referee Rudy Charles tells them that their feet hit at the same time. Daniel Bryan comes out next and declares the match a draw, and they’ll determine a winner next week. Styles shoves Harper, so Harper hits a discus lariat on AJ. Bray Wyatt and Randy Orton appear on the big screen, where Wyatt laughs at Harper as SmackDown goes off the air.

AJ Styles Responds To Nakamura, More On The Rock Calling CM Punk After RAW

– One of the big stories of the day NXT star Shinsuke Nakamura stating that he’s interested in facing AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33. The former WWE Champion caught wind of Nakamura’s comments and had this to say in response:

AJ Styles will participate in tonight’s #1 Contender’s Battle Royal on SmackDown Live.

– By now you’ve probably seen the video of The Rock calling CM Punk from the middle of the ring last night after RAW. The Rock calling Punk in front of the live crowd was completely unscripted, according to PWInsider. Fans were chanting CM Punk’s name throughout the evening and The Rock made the impromptu call.

According to sources who were backstage at the Staples Center, WWE management was none too pleased about The Rock acknowledging CM Punk in such a brash way. At one point somebody at ringside was instructed to get The Rock to end the segment. The Rock saw he was getting some pushback for the phone call and even told the crowd, “They better not turn off my mic!”

Shinsuke Nakamura Wants AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33

Shinsuke Nakamura gave a recent interview to the Japanese media and expressed an interest in working with AJ Styles at WrestleMania 33.  Chris Charlton, author of “Lion’s Pride, translated part of the interview recently on social media.

The full interview (in Japanese) can be read here.

When Will Nakamura Make His Main Roster Debut?

Nakamura and AJ Styles last wrestled each other on January 4th 2016, at WrestleKingdom 10. Neither would be with NJPW very much longer afterwards. Their careers went on very different paths once arriving in WWE however. AJ went straight to the main roster, debuting at the 2016 Royal Rumble. From there Styles became a major player immediately, while Nakamura was sent to NXT.

After having well-received matches with Sami Zayn, Finn Balor and Samoa Joe, Nakamura is still in NXT a year after signing with the company. He will need to finish up his feud with Bobby Roode before being called-up at the very least as well. At this point it seems likely that we will not see Nakamura on Raw or Smackdown until at least after WrestleMania.

Naomi Injury Update

Naomi did not work WWE’s live events this weekend, another indication that the Smackdown Women’s Champion knee injury is legit. Little is known regarding the extent of her injury, other than it is bad enough to keep her off of live events but not bad enough to require a change in storylines.

Naomi at WrestleMania in Orlando

Naomi is from the Orlando area, and as such the WWE would love to be able to promote a homegrown local champion for this year’s show. So far it appears WWE isn’t worried that Naomi’s injury will keep her off the event.

We should be provided with an update on Naomi tonight on Smackdown. Last week former champion, Alexa Bliss, gave Naomi one week to get ready for her rematch. If Naomi’s knee is only as bad as they thought it was last week then we should get that match tonight.

John Cena Raps To Hype Kids Choice Awards, Big Names On RAW Next Week

– John Cena hosts this year’s Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice Awards, which take place on Saturday, March 11th. Cena is featured in this promo video rapping a “remix” of his entrance theme to promote the event.

– A sitdown interview with Seth Rollins has been announced for next week’s RAW from Green Bay, the final show before Fastlane on 3/5. Rollins will discuss his injury, Samoa Joe, Triple H and more. Rollins was not backstage this week as he was in Alabama where he continues rehabbing the knee injury. Goldberg has also been announced for next week’s RAW.

Stone Cold Backstage At RAW (Photo), Identity Of Nia Jax Victim, WWE Obama Video

– WWE Superstars discuss President Obama in WWE’s latest Black History Month video.

– WWE taped Sin Cara vs. Bo Dallas and Noam Dar & Tony Nese vs. TJ Perkins & Cedric Alexander for this week’s WWE Main Event in Los Angeles last night.

– As seen on last night’s RAW, Nia Jax defeated yet another enhancement talent. This time it was Sara Pierce, played by SoCal indy women’s wrestler Heather Monroe.

– WWE Hall of Famer Steve Austin was another big name backstage for last night’s RAW in Los Angeles. Here he is with Charlotte:

DX Reunion At RAW, NXT Triple Threat Announced, Bayley’s Championship Shoot

– A Triple Threat between Ember Moon, Peyton Royce and Liv Morgan has been announced for this week’s NXT episode. The winner will earn a shot against NXT Women’s Champion Asuka. Below is a video for for the match:

3 Matches Confirmed For Tonight’s 205 Live

3 matches have been confirmed for 205 Live tonight. The matches were announced in the video below:

//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js

  • Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa
  • Mustafa Ali vs. Noam Dar
  • Tony Nese vs. Jack Gallagher

What is Going on in 205 Live?

Recently Triple H referred to the all-cruiserweight brand as a work in progress. The show’s viewership is said to be quite low, but it has been picking up steam as of late.

2 weeks ago Jack Gallagher won an entertaining 5-way elimination match to earn the right to face Neville at Fastlane. Gallagher and Neville were involved in an entertaining contract-signing for the match last night on Raw. Gallagher faces Nese tonight, and Neville will probably be near by.

Kendrick and Tozawa have been involved in an angle as well. Recently Kendrick offered to mentor Tozawa, but was turned down. Tajiri has also shown little respect to Kendrick as of late. That angle will be furthered tonight when Kendrick and Tozawa face each other in a match originally scheduled for Raw this week.

Breaking Down Everything That Was Wrong With Last Night’s Monday Night Raw (Editorial)

Opening Segment: Kevin Owens Cuts A Promo On Goldberg

Kevin Owens opened up Raw alone. There was no Chris Jericho by his side, nobody to hide behind. Instead, he sat in a chair and stated his strategy for defeating Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens vowed to outlast Goldberg. He said it is common knowledge that the longer a Goldberg match goes, the more likely it is that Goldberg will falter. Owens was going to address his attack on Chris Jericho last week but opted to drop the microphone and leave the ring. Two weeks before WWE Fastlane, the WWE wants you to take Kevin Owens seriously. He has spent months relying on others to help him win matches. If he drops the title to Goldberg, he was officially a paper champion. If he retains due to outside interference, he is the same old Kevin Owens. If he defeats Goldberg clean, then all of Goldberg’s mystique is gone heading into his match against Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

Enzo & Cass Become #1 Contenders For The Raw Tag Team Championships

After months of meaningless feuds, Enzo and Cass have finally been thrust into the Raw Tag Team Championship picture. They defeated Sheamus & Cesaro and will now face Gallows & Anderson for the titles at WWE Fastlane. Sheamus & Cesaro won the Raw Team Championships by defeating the New Day. The New Day were the longest reigning Tag Team Champions in WWE history. Sheamus & Cesaro then did nothing with the titles and promptly dropped them to Gallows & Anderson on the Royal Rumble Kickoff Show. After the match, Sheamus leveled Enzo with a Brogue Kick outside the ring. Cesaro congratulated Sheamus on laying out Enzo. Are Sheamus & Cesaro now heels? I guess those backstage segments with Bayley the last couple of weeks were pointless.

Roman Reigns Beatdown Both Gallows & Anderson

For the second week in a row, Roman Reigns was able to beat the hell out of the Raw Tag Team Champions. There has really been no explanation as to why Gallows & Anderson insist on fighting Roman Reigns. These Handicap matches have done nothing but make Gallows & Anderson look weak. Roman Reigns looks powerful, but he always has. The problem is that he has never been able to connect with the WWE Universe the way that the WWE apparently wants him to. Instead of feeding a random team like the Shining Stars to Reigns, the WWE has instead made the Raw Tag Team Champions look even weaker than they already did before this “feud” with Roman Reigns.

The New Day Are The New Enzo & Cass

After dropping the Raw Tag Team Championships, the New Day have been in random feuds with Titus O’Neil and now Rusev & Jinder Mahal. The New Day were named the hosts of Wrestlemania 33, presumably because the WWE has nothing for them to do. The New Day are now protecting their blueprints to their ice cream that is coming out this year. Why every Superstar they face is obsessed with these blueprints I have no idea. Since losing the United States Championship, Rusev has been relegated to a comedy act. Rusev was once feared as this dominant force, now he is stuck in segments like the one we saw last night.

The Women’s Division On Raw Is The Same Thing Over And Over Again

Charlotte has never lost a match on a WWE PPV, yet is routinely beaten on Monday Night Raw. Last night, she tapped out to the Bank Statement via Sasha Banks. Last week, Charlotte lost her Women’s Championship to Bayley. It was announced that Charlotte will get her rematch for the Raw Women’s Championship at WWE Fastlane. Instead of slowly building Bayley up, she was given the Raw Women’s Championship on a random episode of Raw. Stephanie McMahon wanted Bayley to relinquish the title due to Sasha Banks interfering in her match with Charlotte last week. If Bayley drops the title to Charlotte at Fastlane, that will make Charlotte a 5x Raw Women’s Champion in under a year.

I find it hard to believe that Charlottes undefeated PPV streak would end at Fastlane. It would make much more sense for that moment to happen at Wrestlemania. It also would have made more sense for Bayley to overcome Charlotte and The Authority and finally get her moment at Wrestlemania. Instead, we’ve already seen that moment of her winning the Raw Women’s Championship. The other option is for Bayley to retain and face either Sasha Banks or Nia Jax at Wrestlemania. The problem with that is that Nia Jax receives virtually no reaction from the WWE Universe. Sasha Banks has zero momentum right now and Wrestlemania is five weeks away. It just seems like the better story would have been to hold Bayley down until Wrestlemania. Charlotte could have screwed Bayley out of winning the Raw Women’s Championship until the biggest show of the year.

Roman Reigns Is In No Man’s Land

Roman Reigns has gotten his ass kicked two weeks in a row by Braun Strowman. Reigns will face Strowman at WWE Fastlane. If he defeats Strowman at Fastlane, people will be pissed off. If Reigns loses, what does he do at Wrestlemania? As of now, Roman Reigns is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemania. I’m not sure if the WWE thought that placing Reigns in Handicap matches would cause the audience to be more receptive to him. Whatever they were going for, it hasn’t worked at all.

Michael Cole made it a point to say that Roman Reigns sent a message after he beatdown Gallows & Anderson. I have zero clue what that message is supposed to be. Is Reigns going to face Strowman at Fastlane and then again at Wrestlemania? Reigns is a no win situation right now. If he gets thrust into the Universal Championship picture before Wrestlemania, people will get pissed off. If he is not a part of a major match at Wrestlemana, that feels like a waste. Say what you want about Roman Reigns, at the very least he generates a reaction from the WWE Universe. Right now, he seems to be in a position where the WWE Universe does not want him to succeed, yet the WWE still wants him to be a top guy.

SmackDown Preview: #1 Contender’s Battle Royal, Falls Count Anywhere Women’s Match

WWE has announced the battle royal participants for tonight’s SmackDown – John Cena, Dean Ambrose, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin, Dolph Ziggler, Kalisto, Apollo Crews, The Miz, Luke Harper and Mojo Rawley. The winner will face WWE Champion Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania.

Video: The Rock Leaves CM Punk A Voicemail After RAW, Punk Responds

After Monday’s WWE RAW from Los Angeles went off the air, The Rock came out and led an in-ring segment that included him leaving a voicemail for CM Punk.

The Rock and CM Punk have a history – with The Great One ending CM Punk’s record setting WWE Championship reign back at the 2013 Royal Rumble.

The Rock was at the Staples Center to film a scene for the Fighting With My Family movie about the family of WWE Superstar Paige.

Props to friend of the site Aaron Rift of NoDQ.com for this footage:

CM Punk didn’t answer The Rock’s call but did leave this message on Twitter:

New Matches For WWE Fastlane, Updated Card

WWE announced on tonight’s RAW that Charlotte will get her RAW Women’s Championship rematch from Bayley at the 3/5 Fastlane PPV from Milwaukee.

– Neville defends the WWE Cruiserweight Championship against Jack Gallagher

– Charlotte gets her rematch from RAW Women’s Champion Bayley

Video: The Rock & Vince McMahon Appear Before RAW

The Rock and Vince McMahon appeared before tonight’s RAW in Los Angeles before the USA Network broadcast began.

Rock came out to a big pop and told the crowd that they would be filming footage for the “Fighting With My Family” movie based on Paige’s family from WWE Studios and Rock’s Seven Bucks Productions. He confirmed that they will be filming a scene based on Paige defeating AJ Lee for the Divas Championship.

Rock also took a shot at John Cena, first announcing that Cena was in the movie but then saying he was just kidding because they want it to be a good movie. Rock joked that he would be hearing from Cena via text message for the joke.

Rock went to wrap up his segment before Vince McMahon joined him for a quick appearance as they were getting close to the 8PM RAW start time.

Below are fan photos & clips from the segment:

WWE Monday Night Raw Recap & Reaction (2/20)

Kevin Owens kicked off the show with a spotlight on him in the middle of the ring. He was in a suit and staring into the crowd with his Universal Championship. A “you suck!” chant echoed throughout the arena. Owens said that the spotlight is now solely where it belongs. The crowd started to loudly chant “Goldberg” as Owens discussed their match at WWE Fastlane. Owens stated that he never believed the hype of Goldberg and that he wasn’t impressed with Goldberg during his days in WCW. Owens claimed that Goldberg only defeated Brock Lesnar because Brock took him lightly. Owens said that he is not taking Goldberg lightly and that he knows how to defeat him. Owens stated that at Fastlane all he will have to do is outlast Goldberg. Owens said that everyone knows that the longer a Goldberg match goes, the more the scale tips against Goldberg. Owens stated that there is nothing that he will not do to keep his Universal Championship. Owens stated that at Fastlane, he is going to show Goldberg, his son and everyone else that superheroes do not exist. Kevin Owens mocked Goldberg’s “you’re next” chant and stated that Goldberg is nothing. Owens finally brought up Chris Jericho but dropped the microphone and left the ring before explaining his attack on Jericho last week on Raw.

Raw Tag Team #1 Contenders Match: Sheamus & Cesaro vs Enzo & Cass

Sheamus and Cass started the match off. It went back and forth and then Cesaro was tagged in. Cesaro planted Cass and then tagged Sheamus back in. Cass fought back and hit Sheamus with a Body Slam. Cass then beatdown Sheamus in the corner and Enzo Amore was tagged in. Enzo climbed to the top turnbuckle and Sheamus hit him with a right hand that sent him out of the ring. Cesaro was then tagged in and he sprinted and hit Enzo with an uppercut as Enzo was resting against the barricade. Raw went to a commercial break with Cesaro and Sheamus in control of the match. When Raw returned, Enzo was still getting his butt kicked by Sheamus and Cesaro. Enzo went for a tag but Cesaro hit him with a massive uppercut.

Cass finally got into the match and connected with a boot on Sheamus that sent him out of the ring. Cesaro was tagged in and he hit a springboard Crossbody. Cesaro followed it up with an uppercut. Cesaro went for the Cesaro Swing but Enzo jumped in the ring. Cesaro launched Enzo out of the ring but Big Cass planted him with the East River Crossing for the victory. Enzo and Cass will now face Gallows and Anderson at WWE Fastlane for the Raw Tag Team Championships. Enzo taunted Sheamus and Cesaro after the match. Sheamus hit him with a Brogue Kick that hit Enzo right on the side of the head. The crowd chanted “thank you Sheamus!” as the segment ended.

Winners: Enzo & Cass

Kevin Owens was walking out of the arena but was stopped by Mick Foley. Foley informed Owens that he cannot leave since he has a match tonight with Sami Zayn. Owens laughed and threatened to injure Sami Zayn in their match tonight.

It was announced that Roman Reigns will face Gallows and Anderson in a Handicap Match for the second week in a row.

Brian Kendrick vs Akira Tozawa

Kendrick attacked Tozawa before the match started and left him lying in the ring. Kendrick was interviewed backstage after the match and said that tonight was the first lesson in respect for Tozawa.

Handicap Match: Roman Reigns vs Gallows & Anderson

Gallows and Anderson controlled the first few minutes of this match. Gallows and Anderson brought a chair into the ring. Reigns used it and got disqualified. Reigns then beatdown Gallows and Anderson. Reigns hit Anderson with a Spear and stood tall.

Winners via DQ: Gallows & Anderson

Reaction: For the second week in a row, Gallows and Anderson were made to look like chumps by Roman Reigns.

https://twitter.com/MankyMedia/status/833861135430475776

Jinder Mahal & Rusev vs Big E & Kofi Kingston

Big E dominated the match once he was tagged in. However, when he went for the Big Ending, Rusev got into the ring and kicked him in the face. Kofi then knocked Rusev out of the ring and leaped onto him. New Day then hit the Midnight Hour on Jinder Mahal for the victory. Big E avoided having their top secret ice cream plans stolen. Xavier Woods played the trombone behind Lana and she launched the iPad in the air with the plans on him. Woods caught the iPad and destroyed it. Crisis averted.

Winner: Big E & Kofi Kingston

Reaction: This was absolutely terrible. All of the Superstars involved in this are capable of so much more. Instead, we are treated to a battle over blueprints for ice cream.

Neville and Jack Gallagher had a contract signing for their Cruiserweight Championship match at WWE Fastlane. Neville stormed to the ring and quickly signed the contract. Gallagher brought tea and biscuits and offered Neville some. The crowd started to chant “tea and biscuits!”. Of course, Neville wanted nothing to do with it. Neville once again insulted the American fans and stated that the WWE Universe was laughing at Jack Gallagher. Gallagher said that Neville isn’t really a king and isn’t better than anyone else in the Cruiserweight division. Neville then flipped over the table with the tea and biscuits on it. Neville shoved Gallagher but Gallagher headbutted Neville out of the ring. Neville went to get back into the ring but Gallagher held his umbrella up to Neville’s throat. Neville then retreated and Gallagher stood tall.

Nia Jax vs Sara Pierce

Nia Jax dominated and hit the Samoan Drop for the victory. Nia was interviewed after the match and was asked about Bayley winning the Raw Women’s Championship. Nia said that she should be Raw Women’s Champion and threatened Sasha Banks and Bayley.

Winner: Nia Jax

Reaction: There was absolutely zero reaction from the audience for Nia Jax during this segment.

Bayley came down to the ring and received “you deserve it!” chants in reference to her winning the Raw Women’s Championship last week. Stephanie McMahon interrupted and asked Bayley to relinquish her Raw Women’s Championship because Sasha Banks interfered last week. Sasha Banks then came down to the ring and told Bayley not to. Stephanie said that Sasha only wanted Bayley to hold onto the title because she knows she cannot defeat Charlotte (Sasha Banks has defeated Charlotte for the Raw Women’s Championship 3 times this year). Bayley then pretended that she was going to relinquish her title but then didn’t. Charlotte then came down to the ring and challenged Bayley to a match at WWE Fastlane for the Raw Women’s Championship. The match was made official and it was also announced that Charlotte would face Sasha Banks tonight.

Reaction: Everyone knew that Charlotte would be facing Bayley at WWE Fastlane before this 20 minute promo.

Sasha Banks vs Charlotte

Charlotte dominated the match early and Raw went to a commercial break. When Raw returned, Charlotte was still in control of the match. Sasha Banks finally fought back and Dana Brooke came down to the ring. Bayley hit Dana Brooke from behind to prevent her from interfering. Sasha then applied the Bank Statement for the submission victory.

Winner: Sasha Banks

Reaction: While being undefeated at WWE PPVs, Charlotte continues to lose on Raw. I was excited to see Charlotte versus Sasha Banks for the 10,000th time since the brand split.

Sami Zayn vs Kevin Owens

Sami was interviewed backstage before the match. Zayn called out Samoa Joe and said that he would get retribution after the attack last week. Predictably, Samoa Joe attacked Zayn before the match. Joe then rolled Sami into the ring and the match started. Owens hit the Cannonball as the fans chanted for Jericho to come out. Owens hit another Cannonball on Zayn in the corner. Owens hit the Pop-up Powerbomb for the victory.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Reaction: It took two hours and forty minutes but there was finally a good segment on tonight’s Raw.

Mick Foley told Stephanie McMahon that he enjoyed watching her getting embarrassed by Bayley and Sasha Banks. Stephanie McMahon talked down to Foley and Foley lost it. Foley told Stephanie to stop treating him like he was stupid. Foley said that he refused to let Stephanie’s greed get in the way of doing what is right. Stephanie then threatened Foley as he walked away.

Michael Cole had a sit down interview with Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Brock Lesnar got up and took Cole’s seat away from him. Lesnar then sat right in front of the camera as Heyman spoke. Heyman stated he thinks Kevin Owens is prepared to shock the world against Goldberg at Fastlane, but Brock Lesnar disagrees. Heyman said that if Goldberg goes to Wrestlemania as the Universal Champion, Lesnar will take it from him and end Goldberg’s career.

Big Show vs Braun Strowman

Big Show and Strowman had a stare down before the match started. The match started out back and forth. Strowman applied a Chinlock to Big Show on the mat. Big Show got to his feet but Strowman Clotheslined him back down to the mat. Strowman then hit Big Show with a kick to the face and once again Big Show fell to the mat. Strowman charged at Big Show but Big Show grabbed his throat. Strowman blocked the Chokeslam and planted Big Show with a DDT. Big Show connected with a massive Suplex. Big Show followed it up with a shoulder tackle to Strowman. Big Show then Chokeslammed Strowman but Braun kicked out at two. Strowman lifted Big Show on his shoulders but Big Show fought out of it and perched Strowman up on the top turnbuckle. Strowman knocked Big Show off and leaped onto him but Big Show connected with the KO Punch for a two count. Strowman then hit a sloppy looking Running Powerslam but Big Show kicked out at two. Strowman then hit a massive Running Powerslam for the victory.

After the match, Roman Reigns stormed to the ring. Reigns hit two Superman Punches and knocked Strowman to the mat. Reigns went for a Spear but Strowman Dropkicked Roman in the face. Strowman then planted Reigns with the Running Powerslam and stood over him.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Reaction: The main event was much better than I thought it would be. Strowman is a hell of an athlete. The final thirty minutes of this show was solid. The rest of the show was very boring in my opinion. Raw has been stuck in the same place for months. It usually has a few good segments and the rest of the show is filler. This week’s episode was particularly bad and didn’t offer too much for fans to get excited for WWE Fastlane in two weeks.

What did you think of this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw? Let us know in the comments below.

WWE RAW Results & Live Discussion (2/20)

The February 20th edition of WWE RAW aired live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles, CA.

– Kevin Owens is in the ring to open up RAW and he discusses his upcoming title defense against Bill Goldberg at Fastlane. Owens says all he needs to do is out-last Goldberg, because he’ll get gassed and Owens can outsmart him. OWens tells Goldberg he’s nothing, then says “as far as Chris Jericho goes…” and drops his microphone and walks off.

Enzo & Cass def. Sheamus & Cesaro: The winner of this match gets a shot at the Tag Team Titles. The match opens up with some high-impact offense from both Shemaus and Big Cass. Sheamus tags in Cesaro and they hit a double team on Cass. Sheamus tags back in shortly after, then Cass tags in Enzo and they double team Sheamus. Sheamus knocks Enzo down to the floor at ringside, where Cesaro hits a running European uppercut on him before throwing him back in the ring. Sheamus and Cesaro take turns working on Enzo until Cesaro knocks him out of mid-air with a Eurpean Uppercut for a two count. Enzo comes back with a drop toe hold on Cesaro into the turnbuckle, then both Cass and Sheamus tag back in. Cass hits a fallaway slam on Sheamus and follows up with a Stinger Splash. Sheamus ducks a big boot and tags in Cesaro, then Sheamus big boots Sheamus out of the ring. Cesaro hits a cross body off the top for a two count on Cass, then hits a springboard elbow off the middle rope. Cesaro goes for the swing, but Enzo breaks it up. Cesaro throws Cass outside, then Cass hits the East River Crossing for the win. Enzo and Cass will now get a shot at Gallows & Anderson’s Tag Titles. Enzo cuts a promo on Sheamus and Cesaro after the match, so Sheamus drops Enzo with a big boot from the side. Cass helps up Enzo and takes him backstage.

– Mick Foley confronts Kevin Owens backstage and books him in a match against Sami Zayn.

– We see a video package detailing Bayley’s Women’s Title win over Charlotte, and Charlotte demanding that Bayley relinquish the belt. Bayley will address Charlotte later tonight.

– Mick Foley is backstage on the phone when Roman Reigns walks in. Gallows and Anderson walk in next, and this leads to a handicap match between them and Reigns tonight.

Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa – No Contest: Tozawa appears to decline to shake Kendrick’s hand before the match, so Kendrick beats him down. Kendrick puts Tozawa in the Hook until the referee pulls him off. Kendrick leaves, and this one never officially started. As soon as get gets backstage, Kendrick does an interview saying that “nobody disrespects Brian Kendrick.”

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson def. Roman Reigns via DQ: Reigns controls the opening minutes of the match until Anderson distracts the ref and Gallows hits a big boot from behind on Reigns. Gallows and Anderson take turns working on Reigns for several minutes, until one of them tries to bring a chair in the ring. Gallows has a chair but Reigns drops him, then takes the chair and works him over with it. The ref calls for the bell and Reigns nails Anderson with it too. Gallows starts fighting back, but Reigns ends up Superman punching him, then spearing Anderson.

Kofi Kingston & Big E def. Rusev & Jinder Mahal: Jinder and Rusev dominate over Kofi in the opening moments. Big E gets the hot tag and throws both Jinder and Rusev with belly to belly overhead suplexes. Big E runs the ropes and hits the Big Splash on Jinder, then measures him for the Big Ending. Big E goes for it, but Rusev breaks it up with a big boot to the face of Big E. Kofi throws Rusev outside then hits a suicide dive over the top rope onto Rusev. Xavier steals Lana’s iPad at ringside and smashes it, then rips it apart. Back in the ring, Big E and Kofi hit the Midnight Hour on Jinder for the win.

– Austin Aries is in the ring to host the contract signing for Neville’s Cruiserweight Title defense against Jack Gallagher. Gallagher is in the ring already and signs first. Neville comes out and signs next, then immediately walks away. Jack asks Neville to come back to the table in the ring for a cup of tea. Neville calls out Gallagher for being a British stereotype, and says the people are laughing at Gallagher and not with him. Gallagher says he’s not playing a gentleman, he is a gentleman. They end up brawling until Gallagher backs Neville down with his umbrella.

Nia Jax def. Sara Pearce: This one is a very short squash match. Nia gets the win after throwing Sara across the ring by her hair, then hitting a Samoan Drop for the pin.

– Bayley comes out to the ring to cut a promo about achieving her dream of becoming the Women’s Champion in WWE. Stephanie McMahon interrupts and tells Bayley she should relinquish her Women’s Title because Sasha’s interference helped her win. Sasha Banks comes out and says Bayley shouldn’t give up the title and says she loves her. Bayley interrupts and says Stephanie is right, and she doesn’t want anyone to think the Women’s Title was given to her. Bayley says “Hell No” she won’t give up the Women’s Title, and says she’ll defend it for the fans any time. Charlotte interrupts next and demands a rematch at Fastlane for the Women’s Title. Sasha tells Charlotte to shut up, and Stephanie sets up a match.

Sasha Banks def. Charlotte: Bayley is on commentary for this one. Charlotte works on Sasha’s knee early on, and keeps Banks grounded with submission moves. Sasha starts fighting back, then throws Charlotte outside and follows up with a flying knee to the face off the apron onto the floor at ringside. Dana Brooke runs down to interfere, but Bayley makes the save and lays out Dana before she can do anything. Back in the ring, Sasha puts Charlotte in the Banks Statement for the win.

– Backstage, Sami Zayn cuts a promo saying Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe are both very similar and “terribly selfish.”

Kevin Owens def. Sami Zayn: While Zayn is making his entrance before the match, Samoa Joe attacks him from behind then beats him down all over ringside. Joe throws Sami in the ring then walks away. Sami gets to his feet and insists to the referee that the match goes on. The opening bell rings and Owens immediately hits a series of running clotheslines on Zayn in the corner. Owens follows up with the Pop Up Powerbomb for the win.

– Backstage, Mick Foley tells Stephanie that he enjoyed seeing her embarrassed by Bayley and Sasha Banks in the ring earlier, and this sets off Stephanie. Stephanie says Foley is acting like one of her kids, and he hasn’t learned from his behavior at the Samoa Joe contract signing. Foley yells back at Stephanie to not treat him like he’s stupid, and he’s aware that he’s putting his career on the line by going against her.

– Michael Cole is backstage interviewing Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Heyman and Lesnar take offense to Cole’s first question, and Lesnar chases Cole off. Lesnar sits with his face right up to the camera while Heyman cuts a promo saying that Lesnar believes Goldberg will beat Owens at Fastlane. Heyman says whether Goldberg wins the Universal Title or not, Brock Lesnar is going to beat Goldberg at WrestleMania.

– Goldberg and Seth Rollins will be at RAW next week.

Braun Strowman def. Big Show: Big Show gets Strowman in a wrist lock early on, but Strowman rolls through and kicks up from the mat to reverse it. Big Show pushes Strowman down, but Strowman comes back with a couple clotheslines and a big boot. Strowman continues working on Big Show and hits a DDT for a two count. Strowman hits a few more clotheslines on Big Show for another two count. Strowman goes for a vertical suplex on Big Show, but Show reverses it into a suplex of his own. Strowman recovers and charges at Big Show in the corner, but Big Show blocks him with a boot to the face. Big Show follows up with a diving shoulder block, and he measures up Strowman for the chokeslam. Big Show hits the chokeslam, but Strowman kicks out at two. Strowman goes for a running powerslam, but Big Show gets out and sits Strowman up on the top turnbuckle. Strowman fights Big Show off and comes jumping off of the middle rope, but Big Show hits him with a punch to the face in mid-air. Big Show goes for a splash off the middle rope, but Strowman dodges it and hits a powerslam for two. Big Show grabs Strowman by the throat, but Strowman fights him off and hits a running powerslam for the win. Immediately after the match, Roman Reigns comes out and starts fighting with Strowman in the ring. Strowman hits a running dropkick on Reigns, and follows up with a running powerslam. RAW goes off the air with Reigns laying in the ring and Strowman walking backstage.

Video: Steve Austin, Scott Hall, Kevn Nash & More React To DDP Joining WWE HOF

Diamond Dallas Page is the latest member of the WWE Hall of Fame’s Class of 2017. DDP will take his rightful place in history during WrestleMania weekend on Friday, March 31st from Orlando, Florida.

Following the announcement of Page’s induction, his official YouTube channel released the following video featuring several of his longtime friends reacting to the news. Scott Hall, Kevin Nash, Steve Austin, Edge, Lex Luger, Ted DiBiase, Mean Gene Okerlund talk about their relationships with DDP and why he’s such a deserving candidate for the WWE HOF. The video also features reactions from a handful of everyday people whose lives have been changed by DDP Yoga.

Diamond Dallas Page Entering The WWE Hall Of Fame

Diamond Dallas Page has been announced as the latest member of the WWE Hall of Fame. The news was first reported by Rolling Stone.

Page was a 3-time WCW Champion and was one of the company’s top home grown stars during the Monday Night Wars. He later had a brief stint in WWE during the Invasion angle and held the now defunct European Championship. After his in ring career, DDP founded DDP Yoga, a health and wellness program that has transformed the lives of countless people, including WWE Hall of Famers Jake Roberts and Scott Hall.

DDP spoke with Rolling Stone about the induction and revealed that Triple H told broke the news to him back in October.

“We were filming Positively Living, the Diamond Dallas Page three-DVD set. I’m a Jersey boy, so I was on the Jersey Shore in my hometown, and it was the end of the day and we were filming one more thing. They handed me the phone and said, “Boss wants to talk to you.” It’s HHH.

I called him a couple weeks earlier and he hadn’t gotten back to me yet, so I thought this was that return call. So we’re talking about casual stuff, and then I start to hear him talk about my career and where I’ve been and how I got here, and then it hits me – is this that call? I’m not a guy who has trouble talking, but I couldn’t talk. Tears are running down the sides of my cheeks and I just said, ‘Bro, I love you man.'”

DDP joins Teddy Long, The Rock ‘N’ Roll Express and headliner Kurt Angle as confirmed inductees for this year.

Kurt Angle Explains Why John Cena Is The Greatest of All Time

Ahead of his WWE Hall of Fame induction during WrestleMania 33 weekend, Kurt Angle continues to heap praise on a former rival of his, John Cena. Angle has been doing the media rounds in recent weeks and John Cena’s name has come up numerous times. During an interview with Forbes published last week, Angle said Cena will go down as the greatest WWE Superstar of all time.

“John Cena is the man. I don’t know anybody else who has gone 13 years on top…I’m not going to say he’s was greatest athlete in WWE history, but he will go down as the greatest of all time in WWE history.”

Angle has posted a new blog entry at KurtAngleBrand.com and once again declares that John Cena is the “G.O.A.T.”

Angle argues that John Cena may not be the most gifted technical wrestler to lace up a pair of boots and names several men who were better technical workers than Cena. However, none of those men have stayed on top of WWE as long as Cena. Angle notes that his time as a top-guy in the WWE only lasted 7 years, 2 of which he dealt with injuries. While Cena has been sidelined with injuries before, he seems to always bounce back faster than people expect.

Discussion: We know Kurt Angle would love to wrestle for WWE again – what do you think of John Cena as a potential opponent for Angle later this year?
