Adam Rose Says Vince McMahon Was Almost Revealed As The Bunny

Former WWE Superstar Adam Rose recently spoke with Chris Van Vliet and revealed that his fellow Rosebud “The Bunny” was almost revealed to be portrayed by WWE Chairman Vince McMahon. He also commented on the breakout success of Braun Strowman, who also got his start in WWE as a Rosebud. Here are some highlights of what Adam Rose said about:

Vince McMahon as The Bunny:

“Road Dogg was in a meeting for two hours before Raw to figure out who the bunny was going to be and they couldn’t decide. I wanted [Justin] Gabriel to do it because he was my friend since I was 15 and he was 16. His dad trained me and we’ve know each other our whole lives. I said let him do it and they said well no one really knows him anymore and they won’t get the reaction they want.

Then there was a suggestion that Vince McMahon do it and I was like ‘What’s the payoff? I don’t get it.’ They were like ‘We don’t know where to go, so why not have a crazy billionaire do it?’

Braun Strowman working as a Rosebud:

“Braun is the nicest person in the world, people don’t know that. And he has this voice, this country voice. If he sings country music you’ll fall in love with him. He can sing a country song like no other. He has this amazing voice and at one point he was my Rosebud general because he used to control the others. I still remember at Raw this one time and Braun was yelling ‘Everyone listen up. This is about Mr. Rose, this is not about you!’ and I was like ‘Braun, calm down there’s no need to be so hard about the whole thing.’

Braun Strowman, Becky Lynch, Carmella, Simon Gotch & The Drifter as Rosebuds

That’s the one Rosebud people remember. They’ll never let him live it down. I still remember being in Gorilla Position and Vince McMahon seeing him in his Rosebud costume and looking at Hunter like ‘What are you doing to us?'”

“I don’t think it’s hit him yet. That will eventually come, and I hope he understands exactly what he’s going through. My kid is a very smart individual” … “I wanted him to continue with the legacy, so now that he’s here, I just gotta do my job. I just gotta make sure that I prepare him right. Once I do that, I’m sure that he’ll be bigger and better than his old man.”

Jack Swagger Signs With House of Hardcore

Former WWE heavyweight champion, Jack Swagger, has announced on Twitter he will be joining Tommy Dreamer’s House of Hardcore promotion. Swagger will be touring Australia with the promotion this June.

He announced his signing on Twitter earlier:

Jack Swagger Post-WWE

The 35 year-old Donald Jacob Hager Jr. singed with WWE in 2006, making his main roster debut on the ECW brand in 2008. Jack Swagger won the world heavyweight championship in 2009, but would fall down the card in later years.

He appears to still be using the Jack Swagger name outside of WWE, which is interesting. Swagger was signed out of college where he was a wrestling and football standout from Oklahoma. He never wrestled on the independents or any non WWE event prior to signing with the company.

Swagger asked for and received his release from WWE in March of 2017.

Scott Steiner made his return to Impact Wrestling tonight during their TV tapings. Steiner showed up to assist Josh Mathews in his feud with Jeremy Borash. It was announced that Mathews & Steiner will face Jeremy Borash and Joseph Park at Slammiversary.

Scott Steiner was released from TNA in 2011. Steiner has been working with Jeff Jarrett’s promotion Global Force Wrestling since it was created. GFW and TNA have merged so that may have led to Steiner showing up. TNA also sued Steiner for a breach of contract, but that case was dismissed on February 22, 2016. Steiner also owns a Shoney’s restaurant in Acworth, Georgia. He witnessed a shooting near the restaurant last year.

CM Punk Training For His Next UFC Fight, Says WWE Was Never His ‘End Goal’

Former WWE Superstar turned UFC fighter CM Punk recent recently spoke with ABC 7 Chicago about his pro wrestling career, his transition to the world of MMA and more.

Despite everything that CM Punk accomplished in WWE and his record-setting 434 day WWE Championship reign, Punk says wrestling for WWE was never the ‘end goal’ for his wrestling career.

“Obviously, I watched WWF as a kid, but when I made the conscious decision – WWF was never the end goal,” he said. “I romanticized about Japanese wrestling. There was two companies in Japan, it was called All Japan and New Japan, and that was my thing. I was more about going over there and being a star over there, then coming home and just being completely – you can walk down the street and nobody knows you.

That was my style, I liked it. But I worked so long and hard at it that it became so boring, it became the last frontier was WWE. I had to go see if I could conquer that so I gave it a shot.”

Earlier this week, CM Punk commented on his next UFC fight. Punk noted on Twitter that he’s “working on it” and tTraining and dealing with a lower body thing at the moment.”

Regarding the transition from WWE to UFC, Punk told ABC 7:

“It’s all tough. I was a wrestler throwing myself to the ground 300 days a year, now I’m more focused on different disciplines and I get to sleep in my own bed every night. Isn’t that great though? To me, there’s something so romantic about that. You walk into a cage and there’s a winner and a loser.

People can make excuses but at the end of the day, there’s a winner and a loser. I think in this world, because in my opinion you only get one time around, if you’re scared of something I think it’s best to face it head on. I’m comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

Tajiri Announces He Is Leaving WWE

Yoshihiro Tajiri has announced his departure from WWE in a series of Twitter posts. Tajiri made his return to WWE main roster in January on 205 Live. Tajiri then suffered a knee injury that kept him out of action. In the tweets, Tajiri thanked Triple H, William Regal and WWE for the opportunity to return to the company. Tajiri also thanked America and stated that he will be heading back to Japan.

Tajiri also revealed that WWE was concerned about his age (46) moving forward. 205 Live is in need of stars and Tajiri was at the very least a recognizable name. He also has had a lengthy career and would have been able to teach some of the younger talent on the 205 Live roster. Unfortunately, that will not be the case as injuries and other factors have led to Tajiri leaving the company.

Braun Strowman To Face Kalisto In A Dumpster Match On RAW

WWE Superstar Braun Strowman has been on a rampage recently. He attacked Roman Reigns during a backstage interview with Michael Cole. Strowman wound up flipping over an ambulance that Roman Reigns was trapped inside. The attack was so brutal, Roman Reigns hasn’t appeared on WWE TV since the April 10th episode of RAW. Strowman and Reigns will face off at WWE Payback on April 30th.

Strowman attacked several other WWE Superstars during this past week’s episode of RAW. Strowman beatdown, Goldust, R-Truth and Kalisto. Braun referred to Kalisto as garbage and tossed him into a trash bin.

Kalisto hasn’t forgotten about the attack by Strowman and being thrown into the trash. Kalisto will look to get revenge this Monday night when he faces Braun Strowman in a Dumpster Match. Kalisto challenged Strowman to the match on Twitter and RAW GM Kurt Angle made it official.

Mauro Ranallo Parts Ways With WWE, JBL & WWE Issue Statement

Former SmackDown announcer Mauro Ranallo and WWE have officially parted ways. Ranallo informed Newsweek that he is no longer with the company via email.

“WWE and I have mutually agreed to part ways. It has nothing to do with JBL.”

Ranallo has been rumored to have issues with SmackDown announcer JBL during his time with WWE. Ranallo tweeted out the results of him winning “Wrestling Observer Announcer of the Year” award for 2016. JBL then made fun of Ranallo for it during an episode of Bring It To The Table in March. Ranallo went on to miss SmackDown on March 14th and was replaced by Tom Phillips. Ranallo hasn’t been on WWE TV since then and is now officially done with WWE once his contract is up on August 12th, 2017.

WWE issued the following statement to Newsweek about the accusations towards JBL:

“As part of our commitment to creating an inclusive environment, in April 2011, WWE launched our anti-bullying campaign, Be a STAR, which encourages young people to treat each other with tolerance and respect.

“As a publicly traded company, that mantra carries forward in our corporate culture. As such, we fully investigate any allegations of inappropriate behavior including the recent alleged situation with John Layfield (aka JBL), despite no formal complaint having been submitted.”

JBL also issued a statement to Newsweek:

“Admittedly, I took part in locker room pranks that existed within the industry years ago,” Layfield told Newsweek in a statement. “WWE addressed my behavior and I responded accordingly, yet my past is being brought up because of recent unfounded rumors. I apologize if anything I said playing ‘the bad guy’ on a TV show was misconstrued.”

Hiroshi Tanahashi & The Addiction vs The Elite set for ROH War of The Worlds

Ring of Honor has announced the first bout as part of their co-branded War of The Worlds tour alongside New Japan Pro Wrestling.

NJPW legend Hiroshi Tanahashi will be teaming with ROH Champion Christopher Daniels and his Addiction tag team partner Kaz to take on the team of The Young Bucks & Kenny Omega.

Ring of Honor released a press release for this behemoth main event which you can read below:

“Kenny Omega returns to Ring of Honor for World of the Worlds Toronto to team with the ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks in a dream six man tag team bout against ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels, Kazarian, and seven-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi!

“The Cleaner” has cemented himself as one of the biggest stars in wrestling, leading Bullet Club to unprecedented heights and championships around the globe under his leadership. Omega assumed control of Bullet Club after forcibly removing AJ Styles. His One-Winged Angel led him to become the first non-Japanese born star to ever win the G1 Climax last year. The victory led to one of the most talked-about matches in pro wrestling history against IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada at WrestleKingdom 11.

Omega and the ROH World Tag Team Champions The Young Bucks are experienced trios competitors, representing a faction within Bullet Club they call The Elite. The trio has twice held the NEVER Openweight Six Men Tag Team Championships.

Standing across the ring from them are three equally accomplished stars. ROH World Champion Christopher Daniels, ahead of at least one ROH World Championship defense during the War of the Worlds Tour against Matt Taven, teams with long-time Addiction tag team partner and best friend Frankie Kazarian and the man that has held the IWGP Heavyweight Championship the most times for the most days in history, Hiroshi Tanahashi!

The battles, including Ladder War VI, between the Young Bucks and the Addiction are well-documented while Omega’s meteoric rise was due in some part to defeating seven-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Intercontinental Championship in 2016! But questions surround Bullet Club – rumors are abound that all is not right within their ranks. Can the first-time team of the World Champion, Kaz, and Tanahashi get on the same page and take advantage of this main event opportunity?

Like Kenny Omega, this six man tag team dream match CAN ONLY BE SEEN IN TORONTO! Tickets are already moving fast – don’t get locked out. See this HUGE main event and the stars of ROH and NJPW do battle at the Ted Reeve Arena on the War of the Worlds Tour!”

Ric Flair Comments On Being Thrown Out Of A Bar For Disorderly Conduct

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair called into the Dan Le Batard show on Friday and commented on the recent reports that he was thrown out of a Ft. Wayne, Indiana bar last week for disorderly conduct.

According to the manager of the Deck bar & restaurant, Flair was there for all of five minutes before he called the bartender a fat-ass and a dumb-ass. After the manager asked Flair to leave, he pulled the, “Do you know who I am?” card, but still got thrown out and banned from the venue.

Flair disputes that he was drunk and says the bartender was giving him a hard time.

“I had only had one drink, I asked for another drink, [the bardender] takes the glass and puts ice in and starts pouring in the same glass.”

Flair asked, “Sir, doesn’t a premium drink require a new glass?”

The bartender says, “Are you telling me how to bartend?” And Flair replied, “Not if I don’t have to, dumba–.”  The bartender questioned if Flair really just called him a dumbass.

“I can call you a dumba–, or a fat a–. Both work.”

Flair admits the manager approached him, but says he left on his own and wasn’t kicked out of banned. H/T to ESPN.com for the quotes.

Update On Mick Foley After Hip Replacement Surgery

Mick Foley has provided an update on his condition after undergoing hip replacement surgery on Wednesday. The former RAW General Manager posted the following on his Facebook page:

FOLEY IN FLIGHT

My mind wrote a lot of checks during the course of my career – and more often than not, it was my right hip that paid the bill. I always realized there would be a price to pay for having the privilege of taking flight on so many occasions – and I have been paying that price for quite a few years. I had my right hip replaced on Wednesday, and I hope it is the game changer that so many claim it is. It certainly would be nice to lay down at night…or wake up in the morning without the constant reminder of all those checks I wrote in my younger days.

As it turns out, what I did was never flying – it was falling with style. But it’s funny how falling feels like flying..at least for a little while*

Thanks for all the kind words, prayers and well-wishes. They are much appreciated.

*Jeff Bridges as Bad Blake in “Crazy Heart”

Mick Foley’s next book, “Saint Mick: My Journey from Hardcore Legend to Santa’s Jolly Elf” is due out October 17th and he’s been working on the project while recovering from the hip surgery.

Cody Talks About His Battle Over The Rhodes Name, Plans To Settle Down With One Company

Cody Rhodes recently spoke with Sports Illustrated about his desire to ‘settle down’ with one wrestling promotion, his battle with WWE over the “Rhodes” name and establishing his own legacy in the business. “I’m about to make a decision,” he admitted. “It’s been really fun to cross all the streams, but at this point I do need to find a new home.”

After his WWE departure in May 2016, Cody competed for New Japan Pro Wrestling, Ring of Honor, Impact Wrestling, WCPW, Pro Wrestling Guerrilla and countless independents across the world. He became the first man to ever compete in WrestleMania, WrestleKingdom, Bound For Glory, Final Battle and Battle for Los Angeles in a calendar year, a feat that will probably never be challenged. However, since leaving WWE, he remains at odds with the company over the ownership of the Rhodes name.

“I’ll tell you this, and I’ve not told anyone this, but I don’t mind that WWE took away my last name. Deep down, in my bones, I definitely want it back – and I have plans to get it back – but there is something to being Cody. The longer I don’t have a last name, the more I’m OK with it. That’s not to say WWE is holding it ransom. It’s literally an intellectual property law that easily can be remedied, but there is something about being Cody that I don’t mind.”

Wrestling as ‘Cody’ has allowed him to further establish his own identity and exist outside of the shadow of his father, the late “American Dream” Dusty Rhodes. “When I’m brainstorming, I always remind myself, ‘Hey, it’s not about him.’ My dad hated being trudged up,” Cody revealed.

“I dragged him to Sacramento to get in the ring with Rey, and I promised I’d have WWE pay him double to come and do anything when we did Stardust vs. Goldust. I can remember him telling me that the last thing he really wanted on his resume was what we did at Battleground in 2013. With that in mind, I try very much to remember and do me.”

Vader Still Wrestling Despite Heart Condition, Collapses After Match

Since that time however, Vader has been contacted by “wrestler-saver” Diamond Dallas Page, has been posting photos of him losing weight, and has continued to wrestle. Another doctor has since given him a less bleak outlook on his condition.
