WWE RAW Recap & Reaction (7/31)

RAW GM Kurt Angle kicked off this week’s episode of RAW and was greeted with a great reaction from his hometown crowd in Pittsburgh. Angle guaranteed that RAW would be a great show. Angle announced that Big Cass will face Big Show, his son Jason Jordan will be on Miz TV and the Triple Threat match between Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns & Samoa Joe tonight.

Angle stated that today marked the 21st anniversary of him winning a gold medal with a “broken freaking neck”. Angle said that he had his ups and downs, but he wouldn’t be here today if it weren’t for everyone in the WWE Universe. Angle went to exit the ring but Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman interrupted. Lesnar and Heyman circled the ring and then finally joined Angle in the middle of the ring.

Heyman accused Angle of wanting to take the Universal Championship of Brock Lesnar because he placed him in a Fatal 4-Way at WWE SummerSlam. Heyman said that he believes all three Superstars will gang up on Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam. Heyman insisted that Angle has been told by his bosses that Lesnar must lose the title at SummerSlam. Heyman then stated that if Brock Lesnar loses his WWE Universal Championship at SummerSlam, Lesnar and Heyman are leaving the WWE. Heyman then guaranteed that Brock Lesnar is walking out of SummerSlam still the Universal Champion.

Reaction: The Fatal 4-Way match was already incredibly interesting and this adds even more intrigue. With all the rumors flying around that Lesnar may be heading back to UFC, I’m sure people will talking about this a lot in the weeks leading up to SummerSlam.

The Hardy Boyz vs Gallows & Anderson

The Revival joined commentary for the this match. Anderson and Gallows controlled the match early but Matt and Jeff Hardy kept fighting back. Gallows charged at Matt in the corner but Matt avoided it and planted Gallows with the Twist of Fate. Jeff was then tagged in and connected with the Swanton Bomb for the victory.

After the match, The Hardys beatdown The Revival and Gallows & Anderson on the entrance ramp.

Winners: The Hardy Boyz

Dean Ambrose was interviewed by Renee Young backstage. Renee asked Ambrose if he was getting back together with Rollins. Seth interrupted and said that last week felt like old times last week in their victory over the Miztourage. Ambrose stated that even if the WWE Universe wants it, Ambrose still doesn’t trust Rollins. Ambrose said that he has already been burned by Rollins once and that it is not going to happen again.

Seth Rollins was then shown walking backstage and he ran into Sheamus & Cesaro. Sheamus & Cesaro stated that they were the best team in WWE because they are friends and trust each other. Sheamus said that Dean Ambrose was Rollins’ last chance of success and now Rollins is all alone. Rollins challenged either Cesaro and Sheamus to a match. Sheamus accepted the challenge.

Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann vs Tony Nese, TJP & Ariya Daivari

Nese and Alexander started off the match. Alexander took control and Nese tagged in Daivari. Swann then entered the match and locked in an Arm Bar on Daivari. Tozawa was tagged in and he still had his shoulder bandaged up. Tozawa connected with a kick to Daivari’s face and followed it up with a Senton for a two count. Daivari battled back and slammed Tozawa’s shoulder into the mat. Titus O’Neil pleaded with Tozawa to take himself out of the mat and Tozawa shouted “no I’m okay!” several times as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Daivari had Tozawa in an Arm Bar in the middle of the ring. Tozawa was in agony as Titus was worried ringside. Tozawa broke the hold and connected with a running kick to Daivari’s head. Swann and TJP were then tagged in. Nese broke up a pinfall but got a Dropkick to the face courtesy of Cedric Alexander. Swann and Alexander then flipped onto TJP and Nese outside the ring. Tozawa then hit a Suicide Dive onto Daivari outside the ring. Back in the ring, Tozawa was tagged in and he hit the Senton off the top rope for the victory.

Winners: Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann

Miz TV w/ Jason Jordan

Jason Jordan came down to the ring with new entrance music. The Miz asked Jason Jordan how it feels that some people are booing. Jordan said that the fans can do whatever they want and said “Miz was an expert on people booing”. The Miz then offered to guide Jason Jordan in his career and the crowd booed. The Miz asked Jordan if he was interested in joining The Miztourage.

Jordan declined the offer. The Miz didn’t back down and said that Jason Jordan needs his help to avoid the vultures in the locker room. The Miz said it makes sense that Jordan doesn’t want to join him because his dad Kurt Angle is the RAW GM and Jordan will just be handed everything. The Miz said that WWE will chew Jason Jordan up and spit him up. Jordan responded stated that he would rather have that happen than to join someone like The Miz.

Miz then insulted Jordan’s father Kurt Angle and called him sad and pathetic. The Miz said that Angle was pining for glory days that are never coming back. Jordan got in Miz’s face and threatened to him. The Miz went for a Clothesline but Jordan ducked it and Supexed Miz into Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas in the ring.

Reaction: I’m guessing Jason Jordan will wind up facing The Miz for the Intercontinental Championship at WWE SummerSlam. I’m fine with that because it places the IC Title in an important storyline for the PPV. As for tonight’s Miz TV, it was a bit awkward. Jason Jordan seems like he is forcing his promos. He is being thrust into a big role on RAW, so it makes sense that he is not completely ready for it. His in-ring skills are impeccable, hopefully his promo skills improve with time. The Miz is the perfect Superstar for Jason Jordan to feud with right now, simply because The Miz is excellent on the microphone and can carry this feud while Jordan figures everything out.

Seth Rollins vs Sheamus

Sheamus controlled the match early and slammed Rollins into the barricade outside the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Sheamus was still in control of the match and connected with a Rolling Senton off the second rope for a two count. Sheamus followed it up with an Irish Curse Backbreaker for a two count. Rollins fought back and knocked Sheamus out of the ring. Rollins then connected with a Suicide Dive.Back in the ring, Rollins planted Sheamus with a Slingblade. Rollins went to the top rope but Cesaro distracted him on the ring apron. Rollins connected with a Clothesline to Cesaro and then rolled up Sheamus for the victory.

After the match, Sheamus and Cesaro beatdown Rollins. The crowd chanted “we want Ambrose!” as Sheamus and Dean finally made his way to the ring. Sheamus and Cesaro then proceeded to beat the hell out of Ambrose while Rollins was still on the mat. Cesaro planted Ambrose with the Neutralizer and then the RAW Tag Team Champions posed in the ring. Ambrose taunted Cesaro and Sheamus while on the mat and Cesaro beat him down some more. Sheamus then leveled Ambrose with a Brogue Kick.

Reaction: Rollins & Ambrose versus Sheamus & Cesaro at WWE SummerSlam sounds awesome to me. This storyline has done the impossible and has made Dean Ambrose tolerable. I still think this will wind up with Ambrose eventually betraying Rollins, but I think it will be after the two have a run with the RAW Tag Team Championships.

Winner: Seth Rollins

Bray Wyatt came down to the ring and cut a promo on Finn Balor. Bray Wyatt said that he was everywhere and saw everyone who was trying to hide their sins. Wyatt stated that “Balor is a putrid shell of a man that never was”. Wyatt cackled in the ring and then fell to the mat in a fit of laughter. Bray then said that there will be no escape for Finn Balor. The lights in the arena then went out and Balor was behind Wyatt in the ring. Balor had his back turned to Wyatt and Bray once again started laughing. Bray grabbed Finn and Balor connected with an overhead kick that knocked Bray out of the ring. Finn then connected with a Dropkick that knocked Wyatt over the barricade.

Reaction: I haven’t enjoyed a Bray Wyatt promo in a long time and I don’t think a single word he has uttered has actually resonated with me. They are just a waste of time right now. I just don’t think the character is connecting with people anymore. I was a big fan of Wyatt before his recent run with the WWE Championship. The damage his feud with Randy Orton has done to him is immeasurable. Wyatt likes to refer to himself as a god, well right now he is god awful. I will have zero interest in this feud if we are going to get more segments like this heading into SummerSlam.

Braun Strowman vs Roman Reigns vs Samoa Joe

Strowman controlled the match right away and launched both Reigns and Strowman out of the ring. Strowman screamed “this is my yard!” as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Strowman was still in control. Strowman slammed Joe into the barricade outside the ring and then Reigns blasted Strowman in the face with a right hand.

The action spilled into the crowd and then quickly returned back to the ringside area. Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch onto Strowman but Reigns broke it up. Joe slammed Reigns into the barricade and then booted him in the head. Reigns took control and brought the action back into the ring. Reigns geared up for a Superman Punch but Joe rolled out of the ring. Reigns followed him out there and connected with a Superman Punch after leaping off the steel steps.

Reigns went for a Spear to Strowman against the barricade but Braun kicked him right in the face as Reigns was charging towards him. Strowman then leveled Joe with a Clothesline. Strowman picked up Reigns like he was nothing and launched him through the ropes and back into the ring. Strowman threw the steel steps into the ring and then got kicked in the face by Joe. Joe then connected with a Senton on Strowman outside the ring and then ran into the ring and hit Reigns with a Senton for a two count.

Joe locked in the Coquina Clutch on Reigns in the middle of the ring but Strowman returned and leveled both Superstars with a shoulder tackle. Strowman then planted Joe with a Running Powerslam but Reigns broke up the pinfall. Strowman then picked up the steps and waited for Reigns to get back to his feet. Reigns hit Strowman with a Superman Punch and then hit Strowman with the steps and Braun fell out of the ring. Reigns then connected with a Spear to Samoa Joe for the victory.

Reaction: This was a very good match. I cannot wait for the Fatal 4-Way at WWE SummerSlam. The build up to the Fatal 4-Way has been great so far and the crowd is going to be pumped up for the match when it takes place on August 20th.

Winner: Roman Reigns

Enzo interrupted Big Show while he was doing pushups backstage. Enzo thanked Big Show for having his back. Big Show said that he was going to teach Big Cass a lesson in respect in their match later tonight.

Elias (formerly Elias Samson) performed a song in the ring. Elias was greeted with applause from his hometown crowd. Elias performed a song that insulted the city of Pittsburgh and poked fun at their baseball time. Kalisto then interrupted and came down to the ring.

Elias vs Kalisto

Elias controlled the match early and launched Kalisto out of the ring as RAW went to a commercial break. When RAW returned, Elias had Kalisto in a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring. Kalisto broke the hold but Elias remained in control of the match for the next couple of minutes. Elias connected with Drift Away (Neckbreaker) for the victory.

Winner: Elias

Alexa Bliss was interviewed backstage and she stated that she was excited that Bayley won the match last week. Alexa said she already knows that Bayley doesn’t have an extreme bone in her body and she would rather face her than Sasha Banks. Alexa then poked fun at Sasha Banks for losing to Bayley.

Seth Rollins thanked Dean Ambrose for helping him tonight. Ambrose still doesn’t trust Rollins and ended the conversation quickly.

Nia Jax vs Bayley

Nia grabbed Bayley by the hair to start off the match but Bayley fought her off. Nia then connected with a headbutt and knocked Bayley to the mat. Bayley’s headband fell off and Nia threw it out of the ring. RAW went to a commercial break after Nia knocked Bayley out of the ring. When RAW returned, Nia Jax was still in control of the match. Bayley battled back and connected with a couple knees to Nia in the corner.

Nia picked up Bayley and slammed her face-first into the mat and Bayley rolled out of the ring. Nia then put her hair in a ponytail to mock Bayley. Finally, Bayley rolled back into the ring and Nia stomped on her. Nia threw Bayley into the turnbuckle and Bayley rolled to the ring apron. Nia brought Bayley back into the ring but Bayley connected with a couple of kicks. Bayley then connected with a Bulldog and followed it up with a Dropkick that sent Nia to the apron. Nia got hung up in the ropes and Bayley connected with a knee to the face that knocked her out of the ring.

Bayley hit Nia with a Crossbody off the ring apron. Alexa Bliss sprinted down to the ring but Bayley saw her coming and knocked her to the floor. Nia then charged at Bayley but Bayley dodged it and Bayley got back into the ring right before the referee counted to 10. Alexa chased Bayley around the ring for a second after the match but Bayley escaped.

Reaction: The build up to the match between Bayley and Alexa Bliss is extremely important and I thought tonight was a total dud. The crowd was completely silent for the Bayley and Nia Jax match and really nothing was done here to generate excitement for the RAW Women’s Championship match in a few weeks at SummerSlam.

Winner via count out: Bayley

Big Cass was interviewed backstage and stated that Big Show was talking out of his ass when he said that he was going to teach him a lesson in respect earlier tonight. Cass then referred to Big Show as a “miscreant” for some reason.

Enzo came down to the ring and compared Big Cass to a bruised banana peel. The crowd sat in silence as Enzo rambled on for a couple of minutes.

Big Show vs Big Cass

Big Show attacked Big Cass before the match even started. The ref called for the bell and Big Show continued the attack. Big Show connected with a chop in the corner and punched Cass in the ribs. Big Show hit a headbutt and another chop across Cass’ chest. Cass connected with a right and went for a big boot but Big Cass leveled him with a shoulder tackle. Big Show slammed Cass to the mat and followed it up with an elbow for a two count.

Big Show went for a Chokeslam but Cass kicked him in the knee. Cass focused his attack on Big Show’s knee for the next couple of minutes. Cass connected with a big boot and then leaped off the top rope but Big Show connected with another chop. Cass then connected with another big boot and knocked Big Show to the mat. Enzo then leaped into the ring and attacked Cass from behind. Big Cass then leveled Enzo with a big boot and taunted Enzo. Big Show then connected with a KO Punch.

Winner via DQ: Big Cass

Reaction: This match was boring as hell. I don’t know why we needed to see it tonight. I’m assuming that this match will happen yet again at SummerSlam and Cass will get the victory. Tonight’s episode of RAW felt over after the Triple Threat match between Strowman, Samoe Joe and Reigns. The final hour of the show was a drag and the crowd wasn’t into it all. The first two hours of RAW were good, the last hour was a total bore.

Shawn Michaels Reveals Which Talents Have Stood Out To Him In NXT

WWE Hall Of Famer and multiple time WWE Champion Shawn Michaels recently did an interview with Kayla Braxton on WWE’s Facebook page as he currently travels with NXT. “The Heartbreak Kid” was asked how NXT crowds are different from WWE crowds, who has stood out to him in NXT thus far, and what it has been like working at the WWE Performance Center. You can check out what he had to say here below:

Difference between NXT and WWE crowds:

“One is very different than the other; it’s a little bit more of a rebellious, rowdy, and very sort of protective group, as well. I think they understand that all of the NXT Stars that they’re seeing are eventually going to the main roster, but right now, they’re theirs to enjoy. I think [the NXT crowd] also understand they are going to be a big part of what takes these NXT Stars to the next level.”

Who has stood out to him in NXT:

“From the guys that are a little bit more experienced: Johnny Gargano, Roderick Strong, I very much enjoy them to guys like Patrick Clark – Velveteen Dream – I certainly see a lot there. But then you go a little further down with less experienced, Cezar Bononi and Adrian Jaoude, so I think there’s real potential there. My goodness, with the girls of course you’ve got Ember [Moon] and Asuka [who] are phenomenal. Nikki Cross, but then, again, there are some sleepers out there, Sage [Beckett] and Abbey Laith, I think there’s so much depth here.”

What it has been like working at the WWE Performance Center:

“Matt Bloom [Head Trainer] and Sara Amato [Trainer/Producer] are the ones – honestly, in my opinion – who deserve all of the credit. They are the ones that set the vibe, set the mood, set the culture for that place each and every day and it is absolutely, easily, the best environment I have ever been in, in my entire life. It is phenomenal, it really is, and that isn’t blowing smoke or kissing anybody’s backside because those two make it that way.”

Brock Lesnar & Paul Heyman Make Big Announcement Regarding SummerSlam Main-Event

RAW GM Kurt Angle kicked off this week’s episode of RAW and was greeted with a great reaction from his hometown crowd in Pittsburgh. Angle guaranteed that RAW would be a great show. Angle announced that Big Cass will face Big Show, his son Jason Jordan will be on Miz TV and the Triple Threat match between Braun Strowman, Roman Reigns & Samoa Joe for tonight’s show.

Al Snow Says No Wrestler In WWE Is Underrated

Former WWE Hardcore Champion and Tough Enough coach Al Snow recently did an interview with Real Sport 101 to promote his new clothing line: CollarxElbow. Snow talked on a number of different professional wrestling topics, including the idea that some talents in WWE are currently underrated. Snow was asked who he believes is the most underrated talent in the company right now, but claimed that he doesn’t think there is a single talent that is currently underrated in WWE right now:

“Not one of them, and here’s why I say that. Because you have to understand, underrated means they’re not given an opportunity. Every time they’re put on TV, too many wrestling fans, and I understand because they don’t understand, but wrestlers are a product. Okay, they are peanut butter. They’re a car. They’re a hair dryer. They’re a toaster. In order to sell these products, you have to have a commercial, correct? So, you’ve gotta buy television time because you want to advertise your product. You want to build your brand. Thirty seconds of television time in WWE, I don’t know now what it is, but I know at one time it was $50,000 for thirty seconds. I know that in TNA it’s still $50,000 for thirty seconds of television time”

“So, I give you six minutes of television time. I’ve just invested $600,000 just in television time. Now whether you win or lose, how did I not value you and appreciate you by giving you that six minutes of television time and underutilized you? You’re on TV. There’s no way that I can undervalue you or underutilize you. There’s no way, because I just invested $600,000 of my television time for you to perform whatever business I needed performed. Whether you win or lose doesn’t matter. What matters is that I’ve now risked that amount of money. I’m not gonna just risk it in anybody, so you’re not underutilized”

Samoa Joe Reveals Which Indie Stars He Thinks WWE Should Sign Next

Former two time WWE NXT Champion and Universal Championship challenger Samoe Joe recently did an interview with 102.5 The Bone’s Drew Garabo Live in Tampa Bay to talk about his journey through WWE. Joe is coming fresh off a great program with WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar, which led to a great match between the pair at the WWE’s Great Balls Of Fire pay-per-view (PPV) earlier this month – which Joe went on to lose.

Joe discussed a number of professional wrestling topics during the interview, one being which talents he thinks WWE should sign from Ring Of Honor (ROH), where Joe used to perform before signing with WWE. Joe named  Jay Lethal and Dalton Castle as his top candidates:

“A couple of dudes, Jay Lethal, I think, is one of them. He’s the kind of guy who can do any character, and do anything you put in front of him, he can kill it. And another guy I was just recently watching a lot of, God, I’m trying to remember, Dalton Castle. And I don’t know if you guys have seen his act, but it’s… I won’t even spoil it, if you just look up ‘Dalton Castle Entrance. A lot of guys in NXT are making their debuts in NXT, Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, and other are kind of the main ones.”

Joe also had a ton of praise for NXT Tag Team Champions Authors of Pain :

“He’s got a brand new tag team that’s very LOD-like. Yeah, they’re called The Authors Of Pain. They’re AOP and they’re basically, one was a former shoot fighter who was called ‘The Albanian Psycho’. Huge guy. The other one was an Olympic-Qualifying wrestler for Canada. They’re young and you’re going to be something special. Managed by ‘Precious’ Paul Ellering.”

Big Cass Reacts to the Increased Number of Tag Teams Splitting Up Lately

WWE Superstar Big Cass recently took part in a media call and talked on a number of professional wrestling topics. During the call, Cass was asked for his opinion on the sudden increase in Tag Teams splitting up as of late such as American Alpha, #DIY and The Vaudevillains. Cass has also recently split up from his longtime tag team partner, Enzo Amore, after it was revealed that Cass was the one who had been attacking Amore backstage at Monday Night RAW a few weeks ago.

You can check out what Cass had to say here:

“Well, that’s just life. That’s how things go. Eventually everything that’s good has to come to an end, eventually teams separate to their individual agendas and individual reasons. That’s how things go man, that’s how things have always been in WWE, that’s how things are in sports – look at Kyrie Irving right with LeBron James in Cleveland. That’s how it goes man. Teams separate, people separate, and people go their own way for whatever reason and whatever reason they feel is right”

“But there are a lot of tag teams in NXT right now that could come up and fill voids on Monday Night RAW and on SmackDown Live. Authors Of Pain are the first ones to come to mind. Those guys are big dudes and are very talented. They can beat some people senseless. So there’s many teams in NXT right now that can fill the void that has been left by the split up tag teams on RAW and SmackDown.”

The crowd gives him a big ovation then he starts to leave, but he’s interrupted by Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman. Lesnar and Heyman come down to the ring, and Heyman tells Angle that he knows his secret plan. Heyman says Angle is trying to take the Universal Title from Lesnar because he’s putting him in a Fatal Four-Way with the most stacked heavyweight division in WWE history. Heyman theorizes that Angle wants the “Samoan disgrace” Joe to win the match because that would stick it to Lesnar. Heyman points out that any of the other competitors could be pinned in the match and it would cause Lesnar to lose the Universal Title. Heyman says if he loses the Universal Title at SummerSlam, Lesnar and Heyman are both leaving WWE, but that won’t happen because Lesnar will win and retain the title. Heyman drops the mic and heads to the back with Lesnar.

– The Hardy Boyz are backstage heading to the gorilla position.

The Hardy Boyz def. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson: Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder are on commentary for this one. Matt Hardy controls the opening moments of the match against Anderson. It comes down to Gallows and Jeff, and Gallows takes control with a big boot and some strikes in the corner. Jeff hits a Twist of Fate out of nowhere and both men are down. Anderson gets the tag in and works on Jeff. Jeff escapes and gets the tag to Matt, who throws Anderson in the corner and repeatedly slams him head into the turnbuckles. The Revival and The Hardys start brawling on the stage after the match. Anderson and Gallows up in and get involved, and all six men are brawling. The Hardys start bumping people into the screens and off the stage, then Matt and Jeff each hit a Twist of Fate on Dawson. – Seth Rollins is shown walking backstage when he’s confronted by Sheamus and Cesaro. They tell Rollins what makes them such a great team is that they trust each other, unlike Rollins and Ambrose because Rollins stabbed him in the back. Sheamus says Ambrose was Rollins’ last chance of success, and Cesaro pokes fun at Rollins being a loner now. Rollins tells them he wants to fight one of them tonight. Sheamus tells Rollins to stop digging himself in a hole and leaves.

Akira Tozawa, Cedric Alexander & Rich Swann def. Tony Nese, Daivari & TJ Perkins: Alexander hits a flurry of offense on Nese early on including a backflip hurricanrana. Daivari and Swan tag in and after a quick exchange Swan drops him with a hurricanrana. Tozawa comes in and hits some kicks and a senton drop on Daivari for a two count. Daivari starts working on Tozawa’s injured shoulder, then tags in Nese. Nese continues the assault on Tozawa’s bad shoulder, then tags in Daviari. Tozawa comes back with a running knee to Daivari’s dace, then Swan and Perkins get the tags. Swan hits a spinning leg drop on TJP then a running frogsplash for a two count. Tozawa then hits a suicide dive on Daivari at ringside, and Tozawa is still selling the shoulder. Back in the ring, TJP goes for a Detonation Kick on Swann, but Swann escapes and kicks TJP in the head. Tozawa tags in and hits a senton bomb off the top rope on Perkins for the win.

– The Miz is out with the Miztourage to host the latest edition of Miz TV. The Miz brings out Jason Jordan to discuss the recent developments in Jordan’s career. Miz says Jordan’s in-ring abilities remind him of his father Kurt Angle, and says he wants to manage Jordan’s career and invites him to join the Miztourage. Jordan declines the offer, so Miz says Kurt Angle is going to hand Jordan everything on a silver platter on RAW. Miz says Jordan is being foolish because this company will chew him up and spit him out. Jordan says he’d rather be chewed up and spit out than have any association with someone like Miz. Miz says Angle is washed up and got his job out of pity, and he’s sad and broken down just like Pittsburgh. Jordan gets in Miz’s face and Miz swings at Jordan. Jordan ducks, then suplexes Miz into Dallas and Axel. Jordan rolls out of the ring and heads to the back as Dallas and Axel help Miz to his feet.

– Seth Rollins is backstage getting ready to face off against Sheamus next.

Seth Rollins def. Sheamus: Cesaro is at ringside in Sheamus’ corner. After some evenly-matched back and forth action in the opening minutes, Rollins fires up with some kicks to take control. Rollins chokes Sheamus against the second rope, then hits a dropkick that sends Sheamus falling outside. Rollins gets distracted by Cesaro at ringside, which allows Sheamus to hit a cheap shot then pull Rollins outside. Sheamus beats Rollins down around ringside and high-fives Cesaro. Back in the ring, Senton hits a rolling senton slam off the middle rope for a two count. Rollins evades the Ten Beats of the Baron by hitting a neckbreaker on Sheamus across the top rope. Sheamus comes back with the Irish Curse backbreaker, then he hits a spear in the corner. Sheamus goes up top for a flying clothesline, but Rollins ducks. Rollins throws Sheamus into the turnbuckle then the two men trade elbow shots to the face. Rollins hits a kick to the head that sends Sheamus out to ringside, and Rollins follows up with a suicide dive. Back in the ring, Rollins hits a flying clothesline and the Sling Blade. Cesaro comes up on the apron and Rollins knocks him off. The distraction allows Sheamus to attempt the White Noise on Rollins, but Rollins escapes and rolls up Sheamus for the win. After the match, Sheamus and Cesaro beat down Rollins and hit the double team White Noise on him. Sheamus and Cesaro continue to beat on Rollins until Ambrose comes out for the save. Sheamus and Cesaro get the better of Ambrose and Cesaro hits the Neutralizer on him. Ambrose won’t stay down and tells them to bring it, so Cesaro pummels on him then holds him up for Sheamus to hit the Brogue Kick. Sheamus boots Ambrose then the Tag Champs leave as Rollins and Ambrose are both laid out.

Bully Ray Talks Fans Not Getting What They Wanted Out Of His Last WWE Run

Former WWE Superstar and current Ring Of Honor (ROH) star Bully Ray (also known as Bubba Ray Dudley) recently did an interview with  A Music Blog, Yea? (AMBY) to talk about a number of professional wrestling topics. Ray revealed who always entertains him in the business, being able to be Bully Ray again after his last WWE run, and how fast ROH contacted he and D-Von Dudley after they left WWE. Here are some of the highlights:

Who in the business always entertains him:

“There’s entirely too many to mention, there are a lot of wrestlers [or] entertainers out there today. I mean in the Ring of Honor locker room alone, man, you can’t even pick one, [Christopher] Daniels, [Frankie] Kazarian, [and] Jay Lethal is like the master of all trades who can do anything.”

Being able to be Bully Ray again after leaving WWE:

“It does feel good to be Bully Ray again, because I believe it’s what the fan want to see. People have been telling me since I created Bully Ray like six years ago, this is the side of me they like the best. Going back to WWE with D-Von and having our final run there as The Dudleys was a lot of fun, we went all over the world, we had a blast. But I know from the fan’s perspective it’s not exactly what they wanted. So, I’m happy to be able to come out here with Ring of Honor and be the version of myself that I enjoy the most and that the fans enjoy the most.”

How fast ROH contacted he and D-Von after leaving WWE:

“Yeah, Ring of Honor did contact me and D-Von a day after our WWE contracts expired and they wanted me and D-Von to come in and work there. We were very interested, D-Von has a larger family, D-Von wanted to take a step back for a little while, so I said, ‘Bro, you do what you gotta do and I’m gonna keep doin’ what I do’ and that was it. I always knew Ring of Honor and Bully Ray would be a perfect fit.”

Pete Dunne On Defending WWE UK Title In Other Promotions, His Goals In UK Scene & WWE

WWE UK Champion Pete Dunne recently was interviewed by Sky Sports and below are some highlights:

His match against Tyler Bate at NXT TakeOver: Chicago:

“At Takeover we felt a lot of pressure to show what the UK scene is capable of. We assumed we were unknown, went to kill it and our goal was to be so good it increases the pressure for a UK show. We want it, fans want it and we feel we helped with that.”

Defending the WWE UK Championship in other independent promotions:

“It’s best for WWE. It’s not an attempt to destroy the independent scene, it’s a great feeder system for WWE. Opportunities like this aren’t just great for us, they’re great for everyone. It’s only natural to see more of this in the future.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txqg-aTfmHU

His goals in UK scene & WWE:

“I’m taking it every day as it comes but I want to build a real UK scene. I’ll continue to develop and have storylines in Progress Wrestling and others like ICW.

But of course, eventually I’d like to be a WWE main roster talent, be on NXT, get to a Wrestlemania and compete for the world titles while representing the UK scene.”

Big Cass On Wanting To Main-Event WrestleMania With Roman Reigns, Betraying Enzo Amore

Big Cass was recently interviewed by Sports Bible and below are some of the highlights:

Deciding to betray his former tag partner Enzo Amore:

“I feel it could have maybe happened a little earlier, it definitely was a long time coming, a long time coming since NXT to be honest with you. I’ve definitely thought about it and talked about it, since NXT – there’s a lot of reasons behind that I won’t get into but someone can only tick-tail so much and eventually you reach the point where they are holding you back, to a certain extent. It’s just day after day, all you can keep thinking about is that so you definitely contemplating splitting. I definitely think it happened at the right time, if not even earlier would have been good.”

Working with Big Show:

“Big Show, when I was with Enzo, was very influential – he always helped me out especially so it was always great talking to him and being able to have him critique my stuff but it’s a different ball game now. I think being in the same ring as the Big Show, being able to mix it up with him and being able to show the the WWE Universe that I can stand toe-to-toe with the Big Show, like I did last week on Monday Night Raw, I think that’s definitely helped me out and hopefully people can see what I’m capable of, not only short term but in the long term.”

Main-eventing WrestleMania with Roman Reigns:

“Roman Reigns has main evented three Wrestlemanias in a row and I’d really like to main event Wrestlemania with Roman Reigns. – that’s the match I really want right now. Love him, hate him – whatever you think of him it doesn’t matter, he’s main evented three straight Wrestlemanias and that’s almost unprecedented. I think The Rock is the only other guy to have been able to do that – three in a row.

So right now, currently, [my dream match] is to main event Wrestlemania with Roman Reigns. He’s set the bar for Wrestlemania and that’s the guy I want to face at Wrestlemania.”

Raven On Scripted Promos Hurting The Wrestling Business, Helping CM Punk In ROH

Raven recently was interviewed by ESPN and below are some of the highlights:

Scripted promos being bad for the wrestling business:

“I think it’s bad for the business. Now they write promos for people. In the old days, you got bullet points. They said, ‘Here are the points you gotta hit, so do it in your character.’ If you didn’t know how to be a character or how to be a star, you didn’t get over.

Now they write for everybody, which is good for the lower-tier guys who can’t write, who aren’t creative enough yet or don’t have enough psychology yet. But for guys who have potential star power, you’re really killing it, because [Steve] Austin would’ve never came alive if they would’ve been writing his character for him. If they told him to just stay with these promos. It’s a whole different world now.”

The lack of original characters in professional wrestling:

“Ninety-nine percent of the business is two-dimensional. They don’t have points of view. People used to complain when they worked with Shane Douglas and he’d go, ‘The Franchise doesn’t do that,’ talking in the third person. I loved that about him because I want a guy that knows what his character would and wouldn’t do — because that I could work with. The character is three-dimensional. You know his point of view. The fans could probably tell you, which is ultimately what I wanted, what he would do in any situation.”

CM Punk crediting him for being the first veteran to teach him psychology during their ROH feud in 2003:

“I never realized I helped him that much. Maybe he was listening when I thought he was arguing with me. I thought he would’ve looked back with less than fondness on me because we butted heads quite a bit, but I’m glad he didn’t.”

You can check out the entire interview by clicking here.
