9 Takeaways From WWE RAW (4/30)

The April 30th episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec. It was the final episode of RAW before WWE Backlash this Sunday.

Here are 9 takeaways from this week’s episode of RAW:

Roman Reigns Said That He Was The Real Universal Champion

Roman Reigns kicked off this week’s episode of RAW to a chorus of boos from the Montreal crowd. Reigns lost once again against Brock Lesnar at WWE Greatest Royal Rumble. Roman Speared Lesnar through the cage, but Brock landed on the ground first and thus remained the WWE Universal Champion.

The official (Chad Patton) of the Steel Cage match at Greatest Royal Rumble stated that he made the wrong call earlier today on Twitter. Reigns’ feet hit the floor first and he should have won the match.

The announcers claimed that tonight’s crowd was like the crowd after WrestleMania as Reigns was booed in the ring. Reigns said that he was the real Universal Champion and the crowd booed louder. The crowd then transitioned into a very loud “Roman sucks!” chant as Reigns stood silent in the ring.

Reigns once again said that he should be the Universal Champion, but he is not “yet”. Roman claimed that he kept his word and beat Brock Lesnar in the Steel Cage match and that is why he will never lose faith in himself. Roman said that Lesnar wasn’t here tonight and brought up Samoa Joe.

Joe appeared on the jumbotron and the crowd erupted. Joe stated that he was going to put Reigns’ “downward spiraling career to sleep!” and the crowd cheered. Jinder Mahal’s music hit and Jinder came down to the entrance ramp. Mahal said that he cannot stand people that make excuses for their shortcomings and that Reigns lost fair and square to Lesnar. Mahal added that Reigns will lose to Samoa Joe and tonight he will lose to him. Mahal claimed that he will flourish on RAW and eventually become the new Universal Champion.

The crowd chanted “you both suck!” but then Sami Zayn’s music hit and the crowd erupted again. Zayn danced around the entrance ramp as the crowd sang his theme. Zayn claimed that he sustained a “serious medical injury” due to Bobby Lashley, he was unable to attend Greatest Royal Rumble. Sami added that he was diagnosed with vertigo, but is feeling much better tonight.

Zayn then demanded to battle Roman Reigns tonight. Sami’s hometown crowd chanted “yes!” and then erupted once again when Kevin Owens’ music hit. Owens came down to the ring and claimed that people wanted to see Roman Reigns versus Kevin Owens tonight. Owens suggested a popularity contest to determine Reigns’ opponent tonight. Zayn got a big cheer from the crowd, Mahal got booed out of the building and got the biggest cheer of them all.

Reigns punched Owens in the face and then got attacked from behind by Mahal and Zayn. Owens joined in and the three started stomping on Reigns. Bobby Lashley’s music hit and Lashley rushed to the ring. Owens, Zayn and Mahal beatdown Lashley in the corner. Braun Strowman’s music and the winner of the Greatest Royal Rumble matched down to the ring.

Braun, Lashley and Reigns cleared the ring and then Strowman launched Sunil Singh on top of Zayn, Owens and Mahal outside the ring. Braun raised his fists in the air as his music hit to end the segment. Mahal, Zayn & Owens versus Strowman, Lashley & Reigns was announced for later tonight.

Opinion: The negative reaction towards Reigns on RAW every week has become comical at this point. There is nothing WWE can do to get the crowd to cheer him, yet they insist on trying every week. Strowman seems to be the guy that everyone wants to see as the Universal Champion, but instead he wins a tag match with a 10-year-old at WrestleMania. The crowd will likely behind Samoa Joe at WWE Backlash this Sunday when he faces Roman Reigns.

Elias Defeated Bobby Roode After Slamming His Throat Into The Turnbuckle

Elias faced Bobby Roode tonight on RAW. Before the match, Elias strummed his guitar in the ring and said that sometimes he forgets how special it must be for the fans to see him. Elias asked the crowd what WWE stands for the and everyone shouted “walk with Elias!”. He then boasted about his eliminations at Greatest Royal Rumble and told all the “mouth-breathers” in the crowd to hold their applause.

The crowd started clapping and then Elias told them to shut their mouths. The crowd booed as Elias started playing his guitar. Elias performed a song that poked fun at Bobby Roode and the people of Montreal. Roode’s music hit and interrupted another brilliant performance from Elias.

Elias started out the match in control and drove Bobby to the corner. Elias unloaded a couple of punches to the face, but Roode battled back and chopped Elias across the chest. Roode exploded out of the corner with a Clothesline and followed it up with an Atomic Drop. Roode then hit a Dropkick and posed in the ring.

Bobby Roode connected with a Blockbuster off the second rope for a two count. Elias rolled out of the ring to regroup, but Roode followed him out there and hit him with a chop. The action returned to the ring and Elias took back control with a Clothesline. Elias applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring as the crowd got behind Roode.

Roode broke free and connected with another chop. Elias caught Roode in the face with a boot and then booted him in the ribs. Elias lifted Roode up and threw him across the ring like he was nothing. Elias hit a couple of chops in the corner as the crowd chanted “woo!” at impact. RAW went to a commercial break with Elias still in control.

When RAW returned, Roode was once again stuck in a Chin Lock in the center of the ring. Roode broke free by slamming Elias into the turnbuckle, but then ran into an elbow to the face. Bobby battled back with a couple of Clotheslines and then planted Elias with a Spinebuster for a two count. Both Superstars battled on the top turnbuckle. Roode headbutted Elias to the mat and hit him with a flying Clothesline.

Roode set up for the Glorious DDT, but Elias blocked it. Elias tossed Roode to the apron and then punched him in the face. Elias slammed Roode’s throat into the steel post and Roose fell to the floor outside the ring. A referee got out of the ring and called for medical attention for Roode. EMTs ran down to check on Roode as Elias made his way out of the ring.

Elias grabbed a microphone and announced himself as the winner of the match. Elias grinned as he walked past the injured Roode. Elias raised his fists and marched up the entrance ramp.

The Authors Of Pain Dominated

The Authors of Pain faced a Jean-Paul & Francois tonight on RAW. The local competitors got a decent reaction from the crowd as they made their way down to the ring.

Rezar started off the match with Francois and immediately threw him to the corner. Jean-Paul tagged in and got decked with a Clothesline. Akam tagged in and then AOP planted Jean-Paul & Fransois with the Super Collider. AOP then hit the Last Chapter on Jean-Paul for the easy pinfall victory.

After the match, Akam stated that the book of pain remains opens. Rezar stated that there will be a chapter for every team on Monday Night RAW. They then shouted “centered on destruction!” before exiting the ring.

Opinion: I really hope The Authors of Pain are successful on the main roster. I thought Paul Ellering added a lot to their act and I’m disappointed that he didn’t join them on RAW. I’d like to see The Revival get built back up again and battle Akam and Rezar on the main roster. Injuries have resulted in Wilder & Dawson becoming irrelevant right now. There are too many talented teams on the RAW roster for the tag division to be so underwhelming.

Finn Balor Sent A Message To Seth Rollins

Intercontinental Champion Seth Rollins came down to the ring to start off the second hour of WWE RAW. Rollins got a great reaction from the crowd and Seth called the crowd wild tonight. Rollins added that the past month of his career has been wild and went over it. Rollins won the IC Title at WrestleMania 34 and then successfully defended it at Greatest Royal Rumble in a Fatal 4-Way Ladder match. Seth complimented the crowd and called them maniacs, which prompted a very loud rendition of Ole’, Ole’, Ole’.

Rollins said that he wouldn’t rather be anywhere in the world than here tonight. Seth stated that he had been thinking about what kind of champion he wants to be and said that he doesn’t want to be anything like Brock Lesnar. Rollins added that Reigns’ feet landed first and he should be the Universal Champion.

Seth took another shot at Lesnar for not being here tonight and stated that he wanted to be a fighting champion. Finn Balor interrupted and got an awesome reaction from the Montreal crowd. Balor claimed that he had been rewatching the end of the Ladder Match and seeing just how close he came to becoming the Intercontinental Champion.

Balor said that they have had four singles matches and each Superstar has won two matches, which makes them even. Balor challenged Rollins to a match for the Intercontinental Championship tonight. Rollins noted that he is defending the title against The Miz at WWE Backlash, but said that he is a fighting champion and asked the crowd if they wanted to see the match. The crowd cheered and Rollins accepted the match.

The Miz’s music hit and The Miztourage came down to the entrance ramp. Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas interrupted and said that everyone should be fighting together. Bo and Axel got into the ring and said that they made a mistake last week by approaching Rollins and Balor separately. Axel and Dallas revealed that the shirts they were wearing had all four of their faces taped on them. Bo Dallas suggested that they be called the Four Horsemen of the WWE.

Rollins and Balor declined to join the group and Axel sunk his head in disappointment. The crowd chanted “losers!” at Axel and Dallas. The Miztourage tried to attack Rollins and Balor, but promptly got their asses kicked. After Dallas and Axel were knocked out of the ring, Finn Balor attacked Rollins from behind and dropped an elbow across his chest.

Opinion: I’m always down for a match between Seth Rollins and Finn Balor. I’m guessing that RAW GM Kurt Angle will make the match official and that The Miztourage will likely get involved later tonight.

Ruby Riott Defeated Sasha Banks As Bayley Watched From Backstage

Ruby Riott battled Sasha Banks tonight on RAW. Sarah Logan and Liv Morgan accompanied Ruby to the ring. Before the match, Sasha Banks was interviewed backstage. Sasha was asked is she attempted to work things out with Bayley so that she will be in her corner tonight. Banks claimed to have not heard anything from Bayley and that apparently Bayley is okay with the Riott Squad trying to take over RAW. Banks added “if Ruby wants a riot, she can bank on one” before heading down to the ring.

The match started out back and forth. Riott rolled up Sasha for a two count. Sasha applied an Arm Bar as Bayley was shown watching the match backstage with a sad look on her face.

Ruby broke free and stomped on Banks in the corner of the ring. Riott drove her shoulder into Sasha’s midsection and then jabbed her in the face while Banks was leaning up against the ropes. Banks battled back and bounced Ruby’s face off the turnbuckle.

Sasha shoved her boot in Riott’s face and then went for the Arm Bar again. Ruby blocked it but Banks connected with an Arm Drag. Banks hit a knee to the face for a two count and then locked in the Arm Bar.

Riott broke free and knocked Banks out of the ring. Sasha punched Logan in the face and then connected with a basement Dropkick to Riott as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Ruby Riott was in control of the match. Ruby smashed Sasha’s face off the canvas a couple of times, but Banks battled back with a couple of jabs to the ribs. Ruby shrugged them off and applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring. Banks broke free and connected with a Crossbody for a two count.

Sasha followed it up with a Clothesline and a Dropkick. Banks kneed Ruby in the face and then missed with Double Knees in the corner. Ruby ripped Sasha to the mat by her hair and then hit an awesome Senton from the second rope for a two count. Sasha locked in the Bank Statement in the middle of the ring, but Logan hopped in the ring to distract the referee. Liv Morgan then dragged Riott out of the Bank Statement.

Sasha connected with Double Knees to Riott against the ring post and then delivered another one to Liv Morgan outside the ring. Sarah Logan distracted Banks while she was on the top rope. Ruby Riott connected with a right hand and followed it up with the Riott Kick for the pinfall victory.

Baron Corbin Was Embarrassed Again

Titus O’Neil was interviewed about his remarkable trip during his entrance at Greatest Royal Rumble that sent him tumbling under the ring.

Titus had a big smile on the face while Renee Young rolled the video of O’Neil falling on his face. O’Neil admitted that he fell on his face in front of the entire world, but it was important to get back up. Titus stated that he hoped this situation inspired people to…

Baron Corbin interrupted and said that it would be more inspirational if he hadn’t fallen in the first place. Corbin stated that Renee Young shouldn’t be wasting her time interviewing Titus before walking away.

Later on RAW, Baron Corbin faced No Way Jose. Before the match, Corbin cut a promo on the entrance ramp. Corbin stated that a wise man once said to make money, you can’t be funny. The crowd chanted “boring!” at Corbin and Baron said that it doesn’t matter to him what they think. Corbin claimed that Titus O’Neil has made a career of looking stupid and that No Way Jose has done the same. Corbin said that he came here to win championships and make money. Baron stated that he was putting an end to the nonsense tonight and that nobody will be laughing anymore.

Corbin connected with a Clothesline to start off the match and then taunted the crowd. Jose battled back and missed with a Crossbody. Corbin launched Jose into the ring post and then Titus O’Neil’s music hit. Titus, Apollo and Dana came down to the entrance ramp. Apollo wiped off the ramp to ensure that Titus wouldn’t trip again. Titus then tripped while getting on the entrance ramp and Corbin mockingly clapped. No Way Jose then rolled up Corbin from behind for the pinfall victory. No Way Jose and his conga line then danced with Titus Worldwide as Corbin angrily looked on from inside the ring.

Opinion: Baron Corbin’s war on fun is off to a rough start. It has become impossible to take Corbin seriously, he has looked like a fool countless times on WWE television. If it is any consolation to Corbin, he has been boring the WWE Universe to tears for some time now. He may not be winning titles, but he certainly has succeeded in removing the entertainment from the building while he comes down to the ring.

Braun Strowman Led His Team To Victory

Bobby Lashley, Braun Strowman & Roman Reigns battled Jinder Mahal, Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens tonight on RAW in a 6-man tag match.

Strowman’s trophy for winning the Greatest Royal Rumble was ringside for the match. Roman Reigns and Jinder Mahal started off the match. Sami Zayn asked to be tagged in immediately and got in the ring and started taunting Reigns. Sami opted not to fight and tagged in Kevin Owens. Zayn tagged in and laughed while climbing through the ropes.

Reigns punched Zayn in the face and launched him out of the ring. Roman threw Zayn into the barricade and then hit the Drive By on both Owens and Zayn as RAW went to a commercial break.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/991134046930591744

When RAW returned, Jinder Mahal had Reigns trapped in the corner. Reigns escaped and decked Mahal with an elbow to the face. Lashley tagged in and decked Mahal with a Clothesline. Bobby leapfrogged Mahal and hit Mahal with another Clothesline. Mahal brought Lashley to the corner and tagged in Sami.

Zayn stomped on Bobby several times and then tried to Suplex Lashley. Bobby escaped and planted Zayn with a Neckbreaker. Mahal distracted the referee and Owens booted Lashley as he tried to Suplex Zayn. Owens tagged in and beatdown Lashley as the crowd cheered.

Mahal got back into the match and continued to beatdown Lashley in the corner. Owens tagged back in and prevented Lashley from tagging out. Owens applied a Chin Lock in the middle of the ring and dragged him to the canvas.

Bobby battled to his feet and broke the hold. Owens tripped him up and connected with a Senton for a two count. Kevin stomped on Lashley a couple of times and went right back to the Chin Lock. Bobby once again battled out of the hold and slammed Owens to the mat. Lashley tagged in Reigns as Zayn tagged in as well.

Reigns connected with a Clothesline and then knocked Mahal off the ring apron. Roman beatdown Zayn in the corner with 10 clubs across the chest. Reigns followed it up with a giant boot to the face and then stood over him as the crowd booed. Sunil Singh hopped on the apron and Roman launched him to the floor. Owens tagged in and planted Reigns with a DDT for a two count as RAW went to a commercial break.

Sami Zayn had Reigns in a Chin Lock when RAW returned. Roman quickly escaped and punched Sami in the face. Sami dragged Reigns back to the corner and Kevin Owens tagged in. Owens connected with a Senton off the second rope for a two count. Owens couldn’t believe that Roman kicked out and shouted at the referee.

Zayn tagged back in and punched Roman in the face a couple of times for a two count. Sami went right back to the Chin Lock. Reigns broke the hold with a Back Body Drop and then started crawling towards the corner. Owens tagged in and ran into a boot from Reigns. Roman connected with a Superman Punch and both Superstars fell to the canvas.

Jinder tagged himself in and punched Lashley off the apron. Reigns planted Mahal with a Samoan Drop and then finally tagged in Braun Strowman. Braun gpt in the ring and leveled Jinder with a Clothesline. Strowman got out of the ring and decked Owens and Zayn with a couple of shoulder tackles. Strowman then launched Owens into the barricade before getting back into the ring.

Strowman charged at Mahal in the corner, but Jinder dove out of the way and Braun crashed into the steel post. Lashley got into the ring and launched Zayn to the outside. Mahal took out Lashley and Reigns hit him with a Spear. Owens Superkicked Reigns and then delivered on to Strowman. Owens went for a Cannonball, but Strowman caught him and planted him with a Running Powerslam for the pinfall victory.

It was announced later on RAW that Strowman & Lashley will face Owens & Zayn in a tag match at WWE Backlash this Sunday.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/991138977657901056

Opinion: This match was incredibly boring up until Strowman tagged in. It lasted over 20 minutes and the majority of it was Chin Locks and rest holds. Strowman picked up another pinfall, but it still feels like his momentum is being wasted on RAW. It seems quite obvious that Strowman should belongs in the Universal Championship picture.

Alexa Bliss Didn’t Have A Good Night

Natalya faced off against Mickie James tonight on RAW. Ronda Rousey was in Natalya’s corner for the match and Alexa Bliss accompanied Mickie James. Natalya knocked Mickie out of the ring to start off the match as the crowd chanted “Ronda Rousey!”.

Mickie got back into the ring and slammed Natalya to the mat by her hair. Natalya battled back and connected with a Clothesline. Natalya went for the Sharpshooter, but Bliss hopped up on the ring apron to distract her. Mickie capitalized and booted Natalya in the face as Rousey chased Alexa around the ring. Alexa Bliss retreated up the entrance ramp as Natalya picked up the victory with a roll-up.

After the match, Nia Jax came down to the entrance ramp as Alexa Bliss escaped through the crowd. Jax got into the ring with Rousey and Natalya. Nia raised their hands and posed in the ring. Nia Jax will defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Alexa Bliss this Sunday at WWE Backlash.

Seth Rollins Retained The Intercontinental Championship

Seth Rollins defended his Intercontinental Championship against Finn Balor in the main event of this week’s RAW.

The match started out back and forth as the crowd chanted “lets go Rollins!”. Rollins connected with an elbow and then threw Balor out of the ring. Rollins leaped onto Balor as RAW went to a commercial break. Rollins was still in control when RAW came back from commercial.

Seth and Balor traded chops in the middle of the ring as the crowd chanted “woo!”. Finn got the upper-hand and leveled Rollins with a forearm to the face. Rollins battled back and planted Balor with a Blockbuster off the second rope. Rollins followed it up with a springboard Clothesline that knocked Balor out of the ring.

Rollins hit a Suicide Dive and went for another one, but Finn had regrouped and connected with a kick to the face. Finn planted Rollins with a DDT for a two count. Balor followed it up with a Dropkick and dropped an elbow for a two count.

Finn started taunting Rollins and threw him to the turnbuckle. Rollins exploded out of it and connected with a Slingblade for a two count. Finn knocked Rollins to the canvas and hit him with a Double Stomp. Balor booted Seth in the face and then made his way to the top rope. Rollins tripped Balor up and crotched him on the top turnbuckle.

Rollins joined Balor up there for a moment, but Balor was able to shove him away. Seth leaped right back onto the turnbuckle and connected with a Superplex. Rollins rolled through for a Falcon Arrow, but Finn blocked it and connected with a Falcon Arrow of his own for a two count.

Finn and Seth traded shots once again in the middle of the ring. Rollins blocked the 1916 but Balor connected with an overhead kick. Rollins connected with an Enziguri, but Balor got right up and Clotheslined Rollins out of the ring. Finn sprinted across the ring and flipped onto Rollins outside the ring.

Rollins connected with a Superkick and both Superstars fell to the mat. Rollins was the first up and delivered a Curb Stomp to Balor for the pinfall victory. Seth Rollins will defend his Intercontinental Championship against The Miz this Sunday at WWE Backlash.

https://twitter.com/totaldivaseps/status/991152471904063488

Opinion: Finn Balor and Seth Rollins put on a great match to conclude this week’s episode of RAW. I was expecting interference from Bo Dallas & Curtis Axel, instead Rollins just defeated Finn Balor clean. I’m not sure where Balor goes from here, Rollins has now gotten the better of him twice in the span of 3 days. Overall, tonight’s episode of RAW was decent. The card for WWE Backlash looks solid and hopefully SmackDown can do a better job of hyping up the show tomorrow night.

What did you think of this week’s episode of WWE RAW? Let us know in the comments below.

Sunday Night Heat Coming To WWE Network

WWE is adding more content to their “Vault” library next week. On Monday, May 7th, WWE Network is expected to add a number of episodes of Sunday Night Heat according to a recent report from WWE Network News.

The exact number of episodes to hit the Network on Monday is still unclear but its likely to follow the same pattern as WCW Thunder or WCW Saturday Night. A large chunk of episodes will be available immediately with the remaining to be released over time.

Sunday Night Heat to the WWE Network

In total, Sunday Night Heat aired 513 episodes over the course of its 9-year run. While Heat was generally considered a B-show akin to Main Event these days, several big angles and matches took place on the show.

The most noteworthy episode of Heat was titled “Halftime Heat” and took place during halftime of Super Bowl XXXIII. Mankind defeated the Rock for the WWE Championship in an empty arena match that night. Not long after, however, Rock would regain the WWE Championship in time to walk into WrestleMania 15 as champion. He would lose the title to “Stone Cold” Steve Austin that night, however.

While episodes of Sunday Night Heat would air on Sundays, they would normally be filmed before Raw and air six days later. The final episode of Heat took place on May 30th, 2008. Rather than air on a network, however, the final addition of Heat aired exclusively on WWE.com. In many markets, the show was replaced by WWE Vintage from 2008 onward. In October 2000, the show briefly ran on MTV with Rebecca Budig and DJ Scribble serving as hosts.

While Sunday Night Heat does not have the best of reputations, several talented performers ran fun angles under-the-radar while on Heat. Tommy Dreamer, Raven, and D-Lo Brown all had storylines which were specifically confined to episodes of the show.

WWE RAW Results & Live Discussion (4/30)

The April 30th edition of WWE RAW aired live from the Bell Center in Montreal, Quebec and was the go-home RAW episode for Sunday’s Backlash pay-per-view.

– RAW opens up with a video package looking at the Greatest Royal Rumble last week.

– Michael Cole welcomes us to the Bell Center, and Roman Reigns immediately comes out and heads to the ring. As Reigns steps in the ring, Michael Cole shows us a message from a WWE referee who claims he made the wrong call in declaring Brock Lesnar the winner at Royal Rumble. Reigns gets on the mic and points out the referee’s error. Reigns pauses for a “Roman sucks” chant from the crowd, then says he should be the Universal Champion right now. Reigns says Lesnar is gone now, so he’s going to turn his attention to another man, the man he will face at Backlash. Samoa Joe then appears on the big screen and gets a pop from the Montreal crowd. Joe says he’s going to put Roman’s downward spiraling career to sleep on Sunday. Jinder Mahal’s music hits to interrupt. Jinder and Sunil Singh comes out to the stage and starts talking trash to Reigns. Reigns says Jeff Hardy cheated him too, but you don’t hear Jinder complaining. Jinder thinks Reigns lost fair and square to Lesnar, and on Sunday he will lose to Joe. Jinder then speaks in his language to his people, and then Sami Zayn comes out to interrupt. Sami gets a hometown crowd reaction and he briefly speaks French to the crowd. Sami says he was sick and couldn’t make the Greatest Royal Rumble, but he’s feeling a lot better tonight.

Sami says tonight he wants to make things better in his hometown by facing Roman Reigns tonight. Kevin Owens comes out to interrupt next and also gets a big pop from the Montreal fans. Owens also speaks in his language to his people, and the crowd starts a “Oui” chant. Owens says everyone knows Sami can beat Roman Reigns, but tonight what people want to see is Reigns vs. Kevin Owens. Owens says since they all want a piece of Reigns, they’ll survey the crowd. Sami gets cheered, Jinder gets booed, and Owens also gets cheered. Owens thinks his was the loudest, and he steps up to Reigns. Reigns decks Owens with a right hand, and then Sami and Jinder start beating on Reigns. The crowd chants the four-on-one beat down of Reigns by Jinder, Sami, Kevin, and Sunil. Bobby Lashley runs in for the save but he’s outnumbered and overpowered. Braun Strowman comes out for the save next, and he and Lashley clear the ring. Strowman picks up Sunil and throws him on to Jinder, Kevin and Sami at ringside. Strowman, Reigns and Lashley stand tall then head to the back.

– Still to come: Natalya (with Ronda Rousey) vs. Mickie James (with Alexa Bliss)

– Elias is backstage drinking what we’re told is a “special tea” from Saudi Arabia.

– During the commercial break Kurt Angle books a six-man tag: Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley vs. Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

– Elias is in the ring for his Walk With Elias catch phrase, and he asks the crowd how many people saw the Greatest Royal Rumble which gets little-to-no response from the crow. Elias tells the fans to shut their mouths and he sings a song, but gets interrupted by Bobby Roode. Roode makes his way down to the ring, and we have a match.

Bobby Roode vs. Elias: Roode and Elias trade holds in the opening moments. Roode takes control in the corner and hits some chops on Elias. Roode hits a Blockbuster off the midddle rope, and Elias rolls outside for a breather. Roode follows him outside and they trade blows on the floor before rolling back inside. Elias drops Roode’s neck over the top rope and then works on keeping Roode grounded. Roode fights his way up and they trade strikes now. Elias slams Roode then mule kicks him for a two count. Roode fires up with a series of clotheslines, then hits a spinebuster on Elias for a two count. They fight up to the top turnbuckle, and Roode headbutts Elias down. Roode follows up with a flying clothesline and drops Elias. Roode looks for the Glorious DDT, but Elias escapes. They trade roll-up attempts, then they fight out to the apron. Elias decks Roode with a right hand, then slams his head into the ring post. Roode is selling a neck injury on the floor, and medics come down to check on Roode. Elias gets on the mic and declares himself winner, despite no official decision from the referee yet. Elias heads to the back with his hands raised as Roode is still selling an injury at ringside.

Winner: No contest

– During the commercial break, EMT’s helped Roode to the backstage area.

The Authors of Pain vs. John Paul & Francois: The Authors are up against some local enhancement talent. The jobbers do an interview backstage with Charly Caruso where they speak some french. Rezar starts off with a big boot on Francois, then John Paul tags in. John throws some right hands, but Rezar drops him with a right hand, and then tags in Akam. They do the Super Collider on the jobbers, and then the Last Chapter on John Paul for the win.

Winners: The Authors of Pain

– The Authors cut a promo after the match about the Book of Pain, and they say there will be a chapter for every team on RAW.

– Michael Cole shows some positive reviews about the Greatest Royal Rumble last week.

– Seth Rollins comes down to the ring and soaks up the huge pop from the crowd. The crowd gets several chants going and he then thanks the fans in French. Seth talks about the long trip back from Saudi Arabia, and he had lots of time to think. Rollins says he had time to reflect on what kind of Champion he wants to be — and he wants to be nothing like Brock Lesnar. Rollins says Lesnar isn’t even the legitimate Champion because Reigns’ feet hit first. Rollins says he doesn’t want to be a Champion like Brock who only shows up when it’s convenient and the price is right. Rollins wants to be a fighting champion. Finn Balor’s music hits and he comes out to interrupt. Balor gets on the mic and steps in the ring. Balor takes issue with Rollins only beating him by “this much” in their ladder match last week. Balor and Rollins get in each other’s faces, and then Bo Dallas and Curtis Axel interrupt. Axel and Dallas come down wearing shirts with Balor and Rollins’ faces on them. Axel and Dallas try to recruit them to form a new stable — the Four Horsemen of the WWE. Balor and Rollins appear to reject them, and Dallas and Axel go to walk away. They turn around and sneak-attack Rollins and Balor. Rollins and Balor fight them off and clear the ring. Balor then grabs Rollins from behind and hits an inverted DDT on him. Balor heads back up the ramp as Rollins recovers in the ring.

– Still to come in a six-man main event: Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman & Bobby Lashley vs. Jinder Mahal, Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn

– We see a replay of Titus tripping and falling at Greatest Royal Rumble.

– Up next: Sasha Banks vs. Ruby Riott (with the Riott Squad)

– Sasha Banks does an interview on the way to the ring to promote her upcoming match.

Sasha Banks vs. Ruby Riott: The Riott Squad is at ringside in Ruby’s corner. Sasha starts off strong and sends her into the corner. Sasha hits a flying arm drag, and then keeps Ruby grounded with a shoulder lock. Bayley is shown backstage watching on a monitor. Ruby and Sasha get tired up in the ropes, and after the ref pulls them apart Ruby hits a boot to the face. Ruby now works over Sasha in the corner and lays into her with right hands. Sasha comes back with a Thesz Press and then beats on Ruby in the corner. Sasha continues to work on Ruby’s arm and then sends her outside. Ruby takes a breather and then gets back in the ring and goes after Sasha. Ruby takes her down and rubs Sasha’s face in the mat. Sasha comes back with a splash off the middle rope for a two count. They fight in the corner and Ruby drops her then hits a senton bomb for a two count. Sasha comes back with a backstabber, but Sarah Logan distracts the ref. This leads to Sasha dropping Ruby again and then Liv Morgan at ringside. A distraction back in the ring from Logan leads to Ruby hitting the Riott Kick on Sasha for the win.

Winner: Ruby Riott

– We see replays and Ruby and the Riott Squad all head to the back.

– Alexa Bliss cuts a pre-taped promo about a trip to Disney World with Nia Jax. She paints Nia as a bully again and says Nia made fun of her for being small. She talks about Nia having a turkey leg in each hand laughing.

– Titus does an interview backstage about falling at the Greatest Royal Rumble. He makes a joke about Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars a few years ago. He says he hopes his situation inspires others, and then Baron Corbin interrupts. Corbin makes fun of Titus for falling and says he’s a waste of time. Titus says that’s ok and smiles.

– The announcers talk about Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt, and then we go to a pre-taped promo with the Woken ones. Matt talks about his and Bray’s stories, and then they appear and tell everyone to “run.”

Rollins comes back with a Blockbuster, then he follows up with a running forearm shot and a facebuster. Rollins hits a spingboard flying clothesline and Balor rolls outside for a breather. Balor hits a suicide dive, and then goes for a second one, but Balor blocks it with a boot to the face. Back in the ring, Balor follows up with a DDT for a two count. Flip Gordon To Reunite Bullet Club? Civil War Continues in Japan This Week

After two weeks without airing an episode, Bullet Club’s “the Elite” released a short mini-episode earlier this evening. The title-less episode is under two minutes long and asks more questions than it answers.

In the closing moments of this episode, Flip Gordon announces to the camera that it’s time to reunite the boys. He then unnecessarily jumped over a guardrail before walking towards the Bucks.

Bullet Club OGs versus the Elite

It’s been an interesting 2018 for Bullet Club.

The previous Being the Elite episode was titled “Finale” and ended with Cody alone in the Bullet Club dressing room. Cody had defeated Kenny Omega but his friends had all deserted him and there was no one to celebrate with. It was later revealed on the show that Marty Scurll had signed a recording contract and would be leaving the show to perform in a pop band.

Further dissension between Marty Scurll and Cody was shown at the Ring of Honor shows this weekend. Cody attempted to hold the ropes open for Scurll but Scurll made a point of entering on another side of the ring. Scurll is owed a title rematch with Dalton Castle after winning the Defy or Deny 4-way match recently. Meanwhile, Cody still has yet to cash-in his rematch clause for another shot at Castle. It appears there could be some jealousy brewing between the two title contenders.

Two big matches take place this week in Japan regarding the Bullet Club civil war. Marty Scurll will team with the Young Bucks to challenge Bad Luck Fale & the Guerillas of Destiny for the NEVER Openweight 6-man titles on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cody will wrestle Kota Ibushi and Kenny Omega will wrestle Hangman Page to co-main and main event the show respectively. Friday’s NJPW show will feature Bad Luck Fale, the Guerillas of Destiny & the Golden Lovers taking on Marty Scurll, Hangman Page, Cody, and the Young Bucks.

Lex Lugar Reveals If He Prefers The Attitude Era vs. Today’s Era

WWE and WCW Legend Lex Lugar was recently a guest on the Cigars, Scars and Superstars with Terri Runnels podcast to discuss several professional wrestling topics. Lugar first discussed his longtime friendship with WWE Hall Of Famer Sting, who he became friends with back in 1987:

“Well, he was with Bill Watts in that territory, which then merged with the Crocketts. He and I didn’t get along at first. I came across as cocky, go figure. He thought I was the cockiest guy he’d ever met. He had asked him a question about how I stayed so lean on the road. He was trying to break the ice a bit because he was in good shape too, He was just trying to break the ice because we didn’t know each other yet.

“I was taking my boots off and I never looked up at him, I just said, ‘Stoley’s [Vodka] & M&M’s.’ He just walked away shaking his head,” Luger said. “We became friends because we’d be at the hotels in the morning, all the other guys would be flying in somewhere, or driving really late at night trying to get to the hotel. Other guys would be going to bed if they flew in, or sleep in if they drove the night before to the next city, so he and I would be up really early having breakfast so we can carb up and get ready for our workout.

“He would be across the restaurant, and I would be on the other side, and finally after a couple of months, we thought it was ridiculous so we merged and had breakfast together, went to the gym together, and up until this day we are the best of friends. We really hit it off; we became business partners and best friends.”

When asked if he loves the Attitude Era more than today’s era of wrestling, Lugar admitted that while he loved his era of wrestling it doesn’t impact his ability to enjoy the work that’s done inside the ring today:

“No, I don’t. I loved wrestling back then, and I loved our era, but at the same time I do love the progression and how it has evolved into a complete global entity,” he said. “I loved my era, but I love what they are doing today with the Women’s division and the era we have today.”

John Cena Opens Up About Nikki Bella Split

WWE Superstar John Cena recently did an interview with Entertainment Tonight to promote his upcoming Transformers spin-off of Bumblebee. Cena was first asked about his recent split with longtime girlfriend Nikki Bella:

“Oh, it sucks. No, there’s no other way to say that. I love Nicole with all my heart and that’s that.”

As for his upcoming Transformers spinoff, Cena recognizes this is a huge opportunity and is extremely humbled by it:

“It is and I say that the most humble way I can. To be asked and honored to be involved in Transformers, it truly is a major thing. I’m very happy to be a part of this, especially dissecting the move back to its roots. Bumblebee is such a popular Transformer and now we’re going to go on a journey with Bumblebee to answer a lot of questions about Bumblebee and I’m just happy to be along for the ride.”

Dalton Castle Discusses Parallels To Velveteen Dream Character

Ring Of Honor (ROH) World Champion Dalton Castle recently did an interview with Chris Van Vliet at ROH’s Bound By Honor event. Castle was asked if he think there are any similarities between his character and WWE NXT’s Velveteen Dream:

“I don’t see that. He’s kind of playing up a Prince thing, right? Is he coming out with Boys? Then alright, we’re cool.”

Castle then discussed the pressure he has felt since becoming ROH World Champion. Where it didn’t matter too much if he messed up before winning the title, now, it’s all very different:

“Before I was Champion, it didn’t matter if I messed up. I could go out there and if I pulled off a really great match, that was great, but if I didn’t that was fine too because there was no risk. Now that I’m the Champion, I feel like every time I’m out in the ring I have to prove to everybody that I belong there.

“There’s no room for error anymore. I have to be the best wrestler I can be every time I hit the ring because as long as that Championship is around my waist, people are going to be doubting me or looking at me or wondering why.”

He was then asked if he watches WWE, to which Castle admitted that he watches all of professional wrestling:

“I watch all wrestling, it doesn’t matter what company it is. I’m the World Champion of Ring of Honor and I love this place and I’m very, very proud to be a part of it but let’s not forget I love wrestling so if there’s wrestling to be seen, I’m going to watch it.”

The Bullet Club has had a huge impact on professional wrestling over in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). While he believes it’s mathematically impossible for all members of The Bullet Club to be cool, he says he’s extremely impressed with The Young Bucks’ rise to fame:

“It’s mathematically impossible for every member of the Bullet Club to be cool, but they’re all great wrestlers. I respect the hell out of all of them. The Young Bucks have taken all of us and wrestling in general to the next level. To see how they’ve elevated themselves on their own and as they’ve elevated, I feel like all wrestling around them has elevated and I feel like we all owe them a great gratitude for that.”

Adam Cole On Pressure Of Carrying NXT After Top Star Call-Ups

NXT North American Champion and leader of The Undisputed Era, Adam Cole, recently did an interview with Sam Roberts on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast to discuss several professional wrestling topics. Cole first discussed his popularity growing since having joined WWE on the NXT brand:

“It’s definitely a lot more since starting with NXT. Even post-Royal Rumble definitely more often that people come up to me asking to take a picture with me and wanting an autograph. It just shows the scale at how many people do watch WWE.”

Cole then opened up about wanting to be just as good, if not better, than the previous group of NXT talents who have since been called-up to the main roster:

“There absolutely is that pressure. Any time guys move to Raw and SmackDown, I think that is what has kept NXT so relevant and has kept the fans so invested because they are now conditioned that whoever leaves or comes in, NXT, as a product, is going to give really exciting sports entertainment every time.

“You do have your different generation of guys, and those generations before did an excellent job, so it does put pressure on guys like me, Aleister [Black], Bobby [Fish] and Kyle [O’Reilly], and everyone else involved in NXT now. I think that is when guys are at their best, when you put pressure and have something to work towards and have something to compare yourself to, or try to best them, it really does make you better.”

Reason Why Big Show Missed WWE Greatest Royal Rumble

Despite being advertised for the show, former WWE Champion The Big Show did not appear at the WWE Greatest Royal Rumble.

The sports entertainment company advertised Show for the 50-Man Royal Rumble Match at last Friday’s event pay-per-view event on the WWE Network in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium with the idea that having several big men working the match would appeal to the Saudi audience.

Dave Meltzer noted on the most recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that Show couldn’t work the match because he got re-injured about three weeks ago while training for his in-ring return.

If you recall, Big Show had hip surgery last September. The former WWE Champion was last seen on WWE TV when he lost to Braun Strowman in a Steel Cage match.

What are your thoughts on Show not working this event and being re-injured? Sound off in the comment section below.

PROGRESS Champion Travis Banks Reacts to Recent ‘Roman Reigns-esque’ Fan Reaction

PROGRESS Wrestling will be heading to Alexandra Palace this weekend for their biggest three day event of the year…Super Strong Style 16.

The event marks the one year anniversary of PROGRESS World Champion Travis Banks’ coronation and rise to the main event scene. The ‘Kiwi Buzzsaw’ has been a dominant reigning Champion since his win over WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne having avenged losses to Keith Lee and Matt Riddle. Banks also featured in arguably the best PROGRESS bout of 2017 when he defeated Will Ospreay as part of the Unboxing Live show in December, again to retain his title.

When Travis won the PROGRESS World Title it was seen as the dawning of a new era in England’s biggest Pro Wrestling company, the beloved babyface star had risen through the ranks after building his profile alongside TK Cooper as part of the South Pacific Power Trip…however the tide turned rather drastically at PROGRESS’ 64th chapter event ‘Thunderb*stards are Go!’ Banks defeated Matt Riddle to the anger of the PROGRESS faithful and since then he has begun to adopt more of a vicious streak in his matches and use tropes of WWE Superstar Roman Reigns to play up his new role in the company.

Banks recently reacted to a tweet sent out by the official PROGRESS Twitter account which recapped last year’s SSS16 event, you can check out the tongue in cheeks comments below:

John Cena Doesn’t Understand Why People Want To Be Famous

WWE Superstar John Cena recently did an interview with the ID10T with Chris Hardwick podcast to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Cena first discussed a unique correlation between professional wrestlers and comic book characters, and explained why some wrestlers can be considered nerds:

“We are in the business of imagination, and a lot of that creativity rests on your own shoulders. When you say ‘nerdy,’ and the things that nerds are drawn to, the creativity to video games or comic books, if that is what defines a nerd then we are all nerds because our job is to go out there and be a superhero and a super villain. It’s not like, I want to run a 40-yard dash as fast as I can.

“Now, creating a superhero character, if your character can look muscular or big, then you have the advantage of having your character look like a superhero. So, it’s only in your best interest to be in superhero shape, so that comes with the territory. We are not in a pure sport environment,” Cena said. “It’s a comic book existence, so that is why we share on certain views on culture and that is why we are so nice about everything because we shouldn’t be doing it as a job. It’s not an occupation that should exist.

“I think all of us should earn a living because we are never home, and our body certainly takes a beating, but I wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I think any of my colleagues would be saying the same thing. It’s like, the joke is on them for paying us to do it. I know personally that i wouldn’t want to be doing anything else. I know that it is a time-dependent thing, so I am going to enjoy as long as I am on it.”

The Leader Of The Cenation then explained how some people get into the professional wrestling business with the sole purpose of becoming famous:

“If your goal is, ‘I want to be famous’, what the f**k is the tangible of that? I don’t understand that. When I see a ring and I get in, and I say that I just want to learn, and I just want to sustainably do this for my entire life, for as long as I physically can, then the ups and downs will come.

“When it is up, you can keep the perspective of saying to yourself that you shouldn’t be here anyway, it’s a great perspective to have because it keeps you working hard,” he said. “Sometimes you see complacency in our workplace, and I don’t understand that, because if you really wanted to be here, and when put a microphone in front of them, and when they say that they have wanted to do this since they were a kid, then you have to take the bad s**t with the good stuff because it’s not all good, and it’s tough work, but you should enjoy all of it.

“You really get to test a person’s mental when things aren’t going their way. Oftentimes that is the case, but at the end of the day, you are a freaking pro wrestler. You may not have been paired with the person you wanted to work with, but at the end of the day, you are getting paid to perform in front of people, which is a good thing.”

Cena then commented on his status as a “company guy” and also explains how he has grown over time in the WWE:

“For the longest, my goal, I’m a weird case because I love the company I work for. I am a company man. I know that I will not perform anywhere else in Pro Wrestling outside of the WWE because I love the company I work for. You have this life ark of I would like to become a Professional Wrestler. I would like to earn a WWE contract. I would like to become a champion. Then, when you ask yourself why you would like to become a WWE Champion and when you broke that down, it was so more people could enjoy WWE,” he said.

“I hate the fact that Pro Wrestlers are judged a certain way. I hate the fact that when you walk into a room and people scour and say, ‘Oh, it’s those guys.’ That is fact. That is the way it is. We run episodic television, with no reruns, no off season. We have an incredible global reach. We have a streaming model that is off the charts. Just now, after 40 years of doing this, people are like, oh, wow, okay, this kind of works. The acceptance is due to the fact that YouTubers can be successful. I guarantee YouTubers face the same stigma of only being popular because of YouTube.

“That just hit me the wrong way early on in my career and it made it a goal of mine early on that I would like to leave this place better than I found it, which is why I did The Marine early on. I didn’t want to do movies. I enjoyed living the life, and going town to town feeling the heartbeat of the excitement of that animal. You guys know that if you are out there and telling a joke, or if they are buying the bit, you get immediate satisfaction; or, if you are bombing, it’s also immediate notice, like, I’m going to change this.

“It is always another town, and it’s always another chance,” he continued. “It’s the passion of the live animal that is unlike any other thing in this world, but the business model made sense. If I take a WWE performer and make him a movie star, then that is more eyes on WWE. Got it! That works with my mission statement, I am going to do this. I did a string a movies that were unsuccessful, and I gave it everything that I had, but my heart wasn’t into it. My heart was in the ring, and now after 15 years of being in the ring, I have to strip it down to the bear minimal of why I keep coming back to this thing?

“I don’t need to. I have been well taken care of by the WWE, so what it is? Why am I not able to have myself drift away? I love the storytelling aspect of it. It’s not the physical bumps, it’s not like I’m going to do a stunt better than the next guy so that people can appreciate my athletic ability. I am in the twilight of my athletic ability, but I am drawn back because of the material. This guy hates you for this reason, or, if often than norm, when the Creative Writer comes to you and says that you are going to be working with this guy, you guys figure it out on what to do.

“A lot of our guys frown upon that, but I literally take the guy and go into a room and ask him why we are fighting. We can come up with anything. Did I look at your girl the wrong way? Are you jealous of me, am I jealous of you? That is the imagination aspect, which is what makes us nerds. We can take something out of nothing. That is what reintroduced me to film, and I have used my fortunate career in the WWE to not have to do movies. To be handed a script, to read a script, and be like, that was great.

“I can be whatever they want me to be in it because i just read the story. If the story is good, then you just tell me whatever piece I am and I will be that piece. It is a different thing because you don’t have the heartbeat of the live audience, but I get to still be creative in my own way, but to answer your question, I never thought of crossing over other than the reason to change perception of what it means to be a WWE performer. Now, I can get the thing I am most passionate about, which is telling stories for the audience, but under a different format.”

Luke Harper Explains Why He Almost Quit Wrestling Before WWE

WWE Superstar Luke Harper recently did an interview with Rochester First to talk about several professional wrestling topics. Harper first discussed his old job as a librarian while chasing his dream of becoming a professional wrestler:

“My wife told me she was pregnant and I lost my job, I was a librarian at Frederick Douglas Middle School and so I thought the world was over and they called and said, “Hey, can you come for a trial and I said, ‘No, I have a broken leg,’”

It turns out Harper was ready to walk away from professional wrestling when his wife became pregnant. Harper intended to find a real job to support his family, but that’s the same day WWE came calling:

“My wife was 8 months pregnant and I was just coming back from Japan and I said, ‘Honey, I’m done, this is it, I’m just going to go get another real job and we’ll make do here,’ and that’s the day (WWE called saying), ‘Hey, can you come for a tryout?’”

Insane Championship Wrestling (ICW) has announced the date for their next Fear & Loathing event. The 11th iteration of ICW’s biggest annual show will be taking place on December 2nd from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow, Scotland.

Fear & Loathing is the ‘Wrestlemania’ in ICW’s calendar year, previous events have seen the likes of Finn Balor, Kurt Angle and Mick Foley appear and the SSE Hydro in Glasgow can hold a capacity of around 2,500 to 3,000 fans. Last year’s event also featured Rey Mysterio taking on Kenny Williams and Rob Van Dam facing Lionheart.

Tickets for Fear & Loathing XI will be available to purchase via the official ICW site as of Friday May 4th.

Shug’s Hoose Party will be taking place in July and a massive name has been announced to debut on Night 1. WWE linked star and PROGRESS ATLAS Champion WALTER will be making his way to Scotland’s biggest promotion, his opponent for the show has not yet been named.

If you’ve never heard of WALTER then he is certainly a performer that should be on your radar. The Austrian powerhouse has been dominating the Tag and Heavyweight divisions in wXw, PROGRESS and PWG over the past couple of years and he is now being slated as a future WWE/NXT signee (even if he denies any sort of negotiations). The de-facto leader of the Ringkampf stable (alongside Timothy Thatcher and previously NXT roster member Axel Dieter Jr) has a ton of potential on the world stage and has already garnered critical praise from the likes of Dave Meltzer, who gave his PWG All-Star Weekend bout against Zack Sabre Jr from October 2017 a 5 star rating.

Edge & Christian On Possible Offseason In WWE

WWE Superstars travel anywhere upwards of over 300 days a year for out entertainment. If anyone in sports and entertainment deserves an “off-season” it’s professional wrestlers who work for WWE.

In a recent edition of their E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness, former WWE Tag Team Champions Edge and Christian discussed this possibility. Christian first explained why he thinks the concept is impossible:

“I feel like you can’t do that – you can’t just stop WWE and have it like a sports league for three or four months. It’s an entertainment company. It puts on a live show every week and it prides itself on being out there and working.

“Yes, the wrestlers themselves could benefit from time off; but, it’s hard when you have certain guys in top angles who are relied on to draw houses and be the main events on shows, pay-per-views and live events and all this job entails.

“For the body, yeah, it would be a great idea to cycle having certain guys off and when they come back certain other guys off for a certain amount of time. I don’t know if that is the way; but, to me you can’t just stop the show for a certain amount of time.”

The Rated-R Superstar explained how the idea seems nice on paper, but the company has TV contracts to obligate:

“There are just so many different things that go into it. Yeah, it sounds great on paper and all of those things; but, you have tv contracts. There are so many different layers to this thing that the laymen doesn’t necessarily think of that factors into this decision.

“It’s not as easy as that and it is a completely different beast altogether than every other sporting league or any other touring thing. It’s not like a band and there’s an album cycle. It’s not like that. It’s just different than that and that’s the way it’s set up.

“I don’t know what the quick answer is to that; but, I know there’s a lot more to be thought of, even though it sounds great on paper.”

The Reason Drew McIntyre Missed The GRR, The Rock Hilariously Trolls Kevin Hart

Why McIntyre Missed Greatest Royal Rumble

Many fans noticed that former WWE NXT Champion Drew McIntyre, who was recently called up to the main roster on Monday Night RAW, wasn’t in Saudi Arabia for the Greatest Royal Rumble.

PWInsider reports that McIntyre wasn’t at the show because he had an issue with his visa. McIntyre made his main roster debut a few weeks ago and there wasn’t enough time to get the issue sorted out.

The Rock Trolls Kevin Hart On Social Media

Former WWE Champion The Rock recently welcomed a new baby girl into the world, and a photo of himself and the newborn has gone viral from his Instagram account. Many have photoshopped the image as a popular new meme.

Rock seems to have gotten in on the fun, and photoshopped his good friend Kevin Hart’s face in place of his daughter’s. He joked that Hart was his son and vowed to always protect him. Check it out:

“To my beloved son, @kevinhart4real

“Twinkle Twinkle little Hart
I just don’t know where to start
Daddy will always love and protect your tiny little soul
Even though you were delivered directly out of the butthole.

Several RAW Stars Deal With Travel Issue, Major Change Made To Total Bellas

Several RAW Stars Face Travel Issues

It seems that several of Monday Night RAW’s stars have faced issues getting to tonight’s show in Montreal. After arriving back from Saudi Arabia a few stars flew to New York to get in some brief family time before heading off to Montreal.

Their connecting flights were cancelled, however, and they were forced to rent cars and drive several hours into Canada instead. Here are a few Tweets from those Superstars:

Changes Made To Upcoming Total Bellas Season

It seems that the real-life break up of WWE Superstars John Cena and Nikki Bella has had some lasting affects on the upcoming season of Total Bellas on E!. Scenes from the upcoming season reportedly had to be re-filmed after the break-up.

The season was originally planned to be focused on John and Nikki’s wedding being planned, however, now it will focus more on their separation. The season premieres on May 20th.

Brie Bella recently did an interview with Sports Illustrated to discuss the upcoming season. Here’s what she had to say:

“So many people have so many questions where John and Nicole are at, and why everything happened, and I think this season will answer a lot of those questions. I give them a lot of credit for opening up their lives. We all told ourselves we had to be an open book.

“If you’re going to do reality, you need to do the good and the bad. I think that’s why so many people love Nicole and me. We’re real and honest. There are some really intimate conversations between Nicole and John. I think my sister is just like, ‘Other women go through this,’ and she wants them to feel like they’re not alone.”

Reason Why Movie Based On Paige’s Family Was Delayed

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s Seven Bucks Productions will be producing a feature film based on the life of the Knight family including Saraya Knight aka Paige.

The film is being produced in conjunction with WWE Studios and Film 4, and the title is “Fighting with My Family.”

Johnson will have a role in the film but Paige will not be playing herself but rather will be portrayed by actress Florence Pugh. Lena Headey and Nick Frost will play Paige’s parents in the film.

According to a report by Deadline, the movie has been pushed back from September 1st, 2018 to March 1st, 2019. The reason for the delay is due to the heavy competition on the weekend of September 1st as the new Predator movie will be released that day.

Now, the film is slated to go up against the “How to Train Your Dragon” animated movie from DreamWorks.

Will WWE Backlash Be Four-Hour Show?, Summer Rae To Make Indy Debut

– For those who are wondering, WWE’s next pay-per-view event, Backlash, is slated to have a one-hour Kickoff Show and three-hour pay-per-view event on the WWE Network. There is also scheduled to be a 30-minute post-show.

With the WWE making the decision to feature both RAW and SmackDown brands on PPV events going forward, there was some speculation that WWE would be switching to four-hour main shows with the move to dual brand pay-per-views. However, that is not the case.

– Former WWE Superstar Summer Rae aka Danielle Moinet is officially set to make a return to in-ring action by making her independent scene debut on May 25th, 2018 by competing at a Battle Championship Wrestling event in Burwood East, Victoria, Australia.

She’s advertised to compete in the ongoing women’s championship tournament. This marks her first match since 2016 and her first appearance at a wrestling show since her departure from the WWE back in October.

Stephanie McMahon Explains Why WWE Dropped Using ‘Pro Wrestling’ Label

WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon has been a major character on TV for the sports entertainment company for two decades now.

Currently, she serves the Commissioner for the WWE’s flagship show, Monday Night RAW, and was last seen on television earlier this month the night after WrestleMania 34, which saw her and Triple H lose to Ronda Rousey and Kurt Angle in a Mixed Tag Team Match.

The daughter of WWE Chairman Vince McMahon spoke at the yearly Business Partner Summit to talk about the business.

During her speech, she explained why the company and its chairman decided to move away from using the term “pro wrestling” and coming up with “sports entertainment.”

“Advertisers either had an adverse reaction to the words ‘professional wrestling,’ or they simply didn’t understand what it was,” said Stephanie. “So, how could we create a term or a label that potential partners could understand? How could we describe the WWE was based on larger-than-life characters enthralled in relatable storylines? That was when we coined the term ‘sports entertainment’.”

Stephanie brought up the fact that the greatest asset of the WWE is the company’s “ability to reimagine storytelling… whether it was capturing the all-American fervor of the 80s, the spirit of the antihero in the 90s, or the rise of the underdog in the 2000s.” WWE’s storytelling, according to Thom Loverro of The Washington Times, birthed the “entire reality television industry – scripted dramatic conflict posing as reality.”

Another change that WWE made was back in 2008 around August time when they decided to go into the PG era.

“10 years ago, WWE once again reimagined our content and made the strategic decision to become more family-friendly, to grow our multi-generational audience and attract more blue-chip partners,” said Stephanie. “Looking around the room here today, it’s easy to see that this strategy worked.”

Muhammad Hassan Returns To Wrestling (Video)

The performer behind the controversial Muhammad Hassan character from 2004-05 is returning to professional wrestling. 36-year-old, Marc Copani, made his return to the ring over the weekend, once again wrestling as the Hassan character. It was his first match in nearly 13 years.

Hassan defeated Papadon at the Dynasty King of Thrones event this Saturday.

Muhammad Hassan on Smackdown

In 2004, Hassan along with his ally, Khosrow (Shawn) Daivari, debuted on WWE programming in late 2004. Several vignettes were shown featuring Hassan and Daivari talking about the discrimination they receive as a result of stereotypes and prejudices.

At WrestleMania 21, Hassan and Daivari were involved in a segment with Hulk Hogan which led to the pair feuding with Hogan and Shawn Michaels.

The peak and beginning of the end to the storyline occurred on a taped episode of Smackdown from July 4th, 2005. Hassan was building towards a match at the Great American Bash with the Undertaker at the time. Undertaker defeated Daivari on this episode of Smackdown. During the match, however, Hassan appeared on the entrance ramp and gestured as if he was praying. Several men dressed in ski-masks then came out and attacked Undertaker. The men then lifted Daivari up over their heads and led him out of the arena while Hassan gave Taker the Camel Clutch in the ring.

The London Bombings took place 3 days after the tapings but before the Smackdown episode aired. Afterward, UPN put pressure on WWE to remove the Hassan character from their programming. Copani was released in 2005 and subsequently retired. This weekend was the first time Hassan wrestled a pro-match since losing to the Undertaker at the Great American Bash in 2005. It has since been revealed that WWE wanted to push the character to the moon. Had UPN not put pressure on WWE to drop the character, Hassan was planned to win the WWE Championship.

James Ellsworth & Chelsea Green Callout Promotion For Non-Payment

James Ellsworth and Chelsea Green (FKA Laurel Van Ness) are calling out “Blackcat Events” for non-payment. The company booked several talents for Meet and Greets over WrestleMania weekend but at least two of them are now claiming the company never paid up.

The promotion Tweeted out the following a couple of weeks ago which only recently caught the eye of one of the performers who is claiming the company never paid them.

Green’s real-life boyfriend, Zack Ryder, also commented on the situation.

James Ellsworth also chimed in to mention he has not been paid and his phone calls are not being returned:

This then set the operator of the Black Cat Events Twitter account off. They posted several Tweets claiming Zack Ryder committed libel against him.

Green retorted that they have proof to back-up the claims made by Ryder, which would negate any possible suit for libel.

Black Cat Events Versus Wrestling Community

According to Black Cat Events in the above Tweets, the company attempted to run an event over WrestleMania weekend. Evidently, the event did not go ahead as planned.

In a later Tweet, Green revealed that Rikishi was another talent which did not get paid by the promotion:

If Black Cats is claiming the event never went forward, talent is still owed their deposit unless specifically mentioned in the contract. In this case, however, it looks as though Green did not get her deposit ahead of time. She posted an exchange she had with the promoter online:

The Black Cats page then made some very derogatory comments about Green. One comment, which has since been deleted, was captured via screenshot by a quick-thinking Chelsea Green fan:

Chelsea Green finished up with Impact Wrestling at the promotion’s January tapings in Orlando.Lately, Green has been wrestling for Shimmer and Wrestle Circus.

Jay Lethal Gifted Macho Man’s Sunglasses By Lanny Poffo

Today is Jay Lethal’s 33rd birthday and he couldn’t have celebrated it any better over the weekend. On the 2nd night of Ring of Honor’s 2-night tour of Florida, Lethal brought out a special guest before his match with Shane Taylor.

Lethal introduced the brother of “Macho Man” Randy Savage, “The Genius” Lanny Poffo. To the delight of the live fans, the smooth voice of Poffo delivered the same poem he delivered during Savage’s coronation as the Macho King. Poffo also gave Lethal a pair of Macho Man’s famous sunglasses. After putting them on, Lethal transformed into the Black Machismo character once more.

Lethal has always been a huge fan of “Macho Man” Randy Savage. This was most apparent in TNA Wrestling where Lethal famously portrayed his alter-ego of “Black Machismo”. The character, which was an homage to Savage, was widely praised even by the original Macho Man himself.

Jay Lethal Chasing Ring of Honor World Championship

Jay Lethal is a perennial contender for the Ring of Honor World Championship. His only run with the belt thus far lasted for 427 days between June 19th, 2015 and August 19th, 2016.

In his most recent title match, Lethal was unsuccessful in de-throning Dalton Castle at the ROH 16th Anniversary show on March 3rd, 2018 from the Hammerstein Ballroom. Lethal also lost a World Title match to Cody back in December. That match took place on a Revolution Pro show from London.

Last weekend in Columbus, Lethal defeated “the Octopus” Jonathan Gresham at ROH’s Masters of the Craft 2018. Lethal then went 2-0 this weekend on the promotion’s weekend tour of Florida.
