Jeff Hardy Will Be Out 6-9 Months Due To Knee Injury

Jeff Hardy confirmed the reports of his injury on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live and he and his brother Matt Hardy vacated the SmackDown Tag Team Championship due to his condition.

While Jeff didn’t provide a lot of details on his injury during the segment, he revealed an approximate time table for his return in the post-show interview.

Dasha Fuentes interviewed the Charismatic Enigma after this week’s episode of SmackDown Live went off air and she asked what’s next for him after vacating the tag titles.

Replying to her question, Hardy revealed that the surgery to repair the damage in his knee is scheduled to take place in a couple of days. While he didn’t provide any specific details on his condition, Hardy claimed that he is going to have his whole right knee repaired.

Continuing on the topic, the former World Champion revealed a time table for his return, saying that he hopes the first four months of his recovery will go well and that he will be out for six to nine months.

This timetable means that we can expect Jeff Hardy to stay out of action for the most part of the remaining year. He will most likely return some time during the WrestleMania season next year.

As we noted before, Jeff Hardy suffered an injury during the April 20th Live Event from Madison, Wisconsin. A more precise timetable for his return should be revealed after his surgery and we’ll keep you posted on his status.

5 Takeaways From WWE SmackDown (4/30)

The April 30th, 2019 episode of WWE SmackDown aired live from the Schottenstein Center in Columbus, OH. During tonight’s show, the SmackDown superstars in the men’s and women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Matches were announced.

Men’s MITB Ladder Match: Ali, Finn Balor, Andrade, Randy Orton, Ricochet, Braun Strowman, Drew McIntyre, Baron Corbin

Women’s MITB Ladder Match: Bayley, Mandy Rose, Ember Moon, Carmella, Alexa Bliss, Dana Brooke, Naomi, Natalya

Here are 5 takeaways from this week’s show:

Kofi Kingston Will Defend The Title Against Kevin Owens At Money In The Bank

WWE Champion Kofi Kingston kicked off this week’s show by launching pancakes into the crowd. Kingston joined Michael Cole in the ring to discuss what went down on last week’s show. Kevin Owens attacked Kingston during last week’s main event and told Kofi that he was coming for the WWE Championship.

WWE rolled footage of Kingston’s journey to WrestleMania and the crowd getting behind him. Kofi said that he has learned over the past 11-years to fight through the lows and keep on pushing. Kingston added that he was proud to become WWE Champion with Big E and Xavier Woods by his side.

Michael Cole suggested that Kofi’s win at WrestleMania was the greatest WrestleMania moment of all time. Finally, Kofi addressed Owens attacking him last week. Kingston admitted that he should have seen it coming, but New Day believes in giving people second chances. Kofi added that he wanted to defend the WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Money in the Bank.

Kevin Owens interrupted and accepted Kofi’s challenge. Owens noted that Kingston gave the WWE Universe a WrestleMania moment, but moments are fleeting. Kevin claimed that the WWE Universe doesn’t actually think that Kofi is championship material.

He claimed that Kofi knows that he is in way over his head and doesn’t deserve the title. Xavier Woods attacked Owens from behind but Kevin battled back with a Superkick. Kingston ran up the entrance ramp and Owens retreated backstage.

Charlotte Flair Attacked Becky Lynch & Bayley

Bayley battled Becky Lynch tonight on SmackDown. It was announced that Bayley will be in the Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the PPV next month. Lynch connected with a Body Slam but Bayley got right up and got in Becky’s face.

Lynch leveled Bayley with a shoulder tackle and then threw her out of the ring. Back in the ring, Lynch connected with a Clothesline as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Bayley was in control and hit Clothesline of her own for a near fall. Bayley followed that up with a knee to the face for a two count. Lynch battled back with a Dropkick off the top turnbuckle for a two count. Bayley and Becky traded shots and Lynch got the upper hand with an Exploder Supex.

Bayley and Becky hit a Clothesline at the same time and both superstars fell tot he canvas. Bayley hit a Belly to Back Suplex and then made her way to the top rope. Bayley went for the Elbow Drop but Lynch got her knees up and locked in the Dis-Arm-Her for the pinfall victory. After the match, Charlotte hit Lynch with a big boot and then launched Bayley into the ring post.

Bayley and Becky Lynch put on a solid match tonight. I don’t like Becky Lynch being on both shows and hope that ends following Money in the Bank. She is the best thing going in WWE right now and I’d hate to see her lose all momentum because the fans get sick of her.

The Hardy Boyz Relinquished The Tag Titles

Hardy Boyz
Hardy Boyz

SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Hardy Boyz addressed the injury to Jeff Hardy on this week’s show. Jeff said that he unable to walk under his own power because of Lars Sullivan and he needs surgery. Jeff added that he will be out of action for a long time.

Matt stated that The Hardy Boyz must give up the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Jeff vowed to come back better than ever. Sullivan interrupted and marched his way down the entrance ramp.

Lars got into the ring with Matt and grabbed him by the neck. Sullivan sent Matt out of the ring as Jeff struggled to escape to the outside. Matt got back into the ring but Sullivan planted him with the Freak Accident. Jeff lifted up his crutch and dared Lars to come at him.

R-Truth hit Lars in the back with a chair but Sullivan shrugged it off. Lars then slammed R-Truth to the canvas and followed it up with a massive Powerbomb.

It was a good choice by WWE to use Jeff Hardy’s injury as a way to try and get Lars Sullivan over. WWE desperately needs Lars to resonate with the audience. They need the same thing to happen for Aleister Black, who is now cutting forgettable ominous pre-taped promos in a dark room.

Roman Reigns Overcame The Odds

Roman Reigns kicked off the second hour of SmackDown and got his usual mixed reaction from the crowd. Reigns boasted about making a good first impression on SmackDown by knocking out Vince McMahon.

Reigns stated that he just wanted to get the point across that he is still the Big Dog and SmackDown is his yard now. SmackDown Commissioner Shane McMahon interrupted and demanded that Greg Hamilton properly introduce him as the best in the world.

Shane reminded Reigns that the McMahon family owns all the land, so it doesn’t matter if Roman is the biggest dog in the yard. Shane bragged about leaving Reigns laying on his back last week on SmackDown. Roman pointed out that Shane needed Elias’ help and challenged Shane to come down to the ring.

Shane said that he doesn’t have time because he has to train for his Steel Cage Match at Money in the Bank. McMahon brought out the B-Team (Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas) and announced a Handicap Match. Shane added that Elias will be the special “enforcer for the match.

Elias distracted referee Mike Chioda during the match and B-Team beat Reigns down. Elias followed that up with a Clothesline on Reigns while the referee was arguing with Axel and Dallas. Reigns hit Axel with a Superman Punch and went for the cover but Elias pulled the referee out of the ring.

Roman chased Elias around the ring and hit Bo with the Drive-By. Elias slammed Roman into the ring post and sent Reigns back into the ring. Axel hit the Perfect Plex and Elias rolled into the ring for the count but Roman still kicked out at two. Elias got his guitar but Roman hit him with a Superman Punch. Reigns then hit Axel with the Spear for the pinfall victory.

I find it impossible to get invested in yet another Roman Reigns storyline that involves him overcoming the odds. I’ve seen it too many times and am incredibly bored with it.

Kofi Kingston Got Revenge On Kevin Owens

Xavier Woods was a guest on the Kevin Owens Show in the main event of this week’s SmackDown. Owens laid out Woods with a Superkick in the beginning of tonight’s show.

Owens once again said that Kofi Kingston is in way over his head and told him not to worry because help is on the way. Kevin vowed to take the WWE Championship from Kingston at Money in the Bank and then asked Woods to come down to the ring for a chat.

Woods didn’t come down to the ring and Owens pulled out an Xavier Woods action figure from his pocket. Owens called it a piece of crap and blasted New Day for shamelessly pumping out cheap merchandise for years.

Kevin then brought out a Big E action figure with his leg all taped up. Owens kicked the action figures to the floor as Kofi Kingston showed up on the entrance ramp.

Kofi ran to the ring and traded punches with Owens. Kingston tackled Owens out of the ring and hit him with a Clothesline off the steel steps.

Kofi then launched Owens over the announce table and threw a computer chair on top of him. Owens poked Kingston in the eye and retreated through the crowd. Kingston stood on the turnbuckle and shouted at Owens as SmackDown went off the air.

RAW and SmackDown are both absolutely terrible right now. Bayley and Lynch had a solid match tonight and Lars Sullivan looked dominant. The rest of the show was very boring and didn’t do much to hype up the Money in the Bank PPV.

Jeff Hardy To Undergo Surgery, Hardy Boyz Relinquish SmackDown Tag Team Titles

Jeff Hardy is set to undergo surgery and the SmackDown Tag Team Titles are now vacant.

During Tuesday’s episode of SmackDown Live, The Hardy Boyz did an in-ring segment where Jeff noted that he needs to have surgery and will be out of action for a long time. This was after he showed a video package of Lars Sullivan recently attacking him. As a result, Matt and Jeff are forced to relinquish the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

This led to Sullivan coming out to the ring where he attacked Matt but R-Truth tried to run out to make the save but was laid out.

The brothers defeated The Usos (Jey & Jimmy Uso) on the post-WrestleMania 35 episode of Smackdown Live in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center to win the SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

As a result, they became the first team in history to hold the World Tag Team Titles, WCW Tag Team Titles, RAW Tag Team Titles and SmackDown Tag Team Titles.

It’s been reported that Hardy got injured while working a SmackDown live event in Madison, Wisconsin over the weekend where The Hardyz teamed up to defeat The Usos.

Hardy appeared to have suffered some sort of leg injury and that looks to be the case as Jeff was on a crutch in this segment.

Brock Lesnar Has Informed UFC That He’s Retiring From MMA

The speculation about when and where Brock Lesnar’s next MMA fight will take place has been put to an end. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion has apparently retired from MMA competition, according to UFC President Dana White.

White told ESPN’s Brett Okamoto on Tuesday night that Lesnar is retiring from competition and won’t attempt a comeback. Ariel Helwani noted that chances of Lesnar returning to UFC aren’t likely anymore.

The UFC has been trying to make a fight between Lesnar and current UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier inside of the Octagon since last July when Cormier was able to score a KO win over Stipe Miocic to win the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 226.

The promotion was hoping to book this fight in August. However, the fight continued to get pushed back. Now, the UFC is trying to get a rematch booked with Cormier and Miocic.

Lesnar was last seen on WWE programming when he lost the Universal Title to Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 35. He’s been rumored to work the upcoming Saudi Arabi show in June but other than that date, there’s been no word yet on his future.

Now that Lesnar is done with UFC, it appears that his future in WWE has become more clear. Time will tell whether reports surface of him signing a new deal soon.

Owens says tonight he had a great idea for his Owens Show guest, because he knows all about Kofi but he wants to learn more about Xavier. He tells Xavier to come out to the ring if he’s still table to. He tells Xavier to trust him and just sit down and have a chat. Woods doesn’t come out, so Owens pulls an Xavier Woods action figure out of his pocket. He puts the action figure on the chair in the ring and talks to it. Kofi continues the beat-down at ringside and they brawl over the announce table. Owens hits Kofi with a thumb to the eye and then Owens retreats through the crowd. Kofi stands in the ring and yells at Owens as SmackDown goes off the air.

Seth Rollins Believes Brock Lesnar Devalued WWE Universal Title

Heading into their latest match under the WWE banner, Seth Rollins made it known that he wasn’t a fan of how Brock Lesnar represented the company as Universal Champion, which is the top title on WWE’s flagship show, RAW.

In the build-up, Rollins criticized Lesnar for being the champion while working a part-time schedule. While doing a recent international media call earlier this week, Rollins brought up how he’s open to giving Lesnar a rematch for the title after winning it at WrestleMania 35.

Later on during the call, Rollins made it known that he thinks Lesnar devalued the title with the way his run went but noted that his goal for this year is to build up the prestige of the title once again.

“My most immediate goal is to just be kind of a champion of the people,” Rollins said (H/T to Express Sport). “With Brock Lesnar carrying the title the way he did over the past couple of years, sort of only defending it when the time is right – in my opinion he devalued the title.

“I think he thought that he could make it more prestigious but to me having the title on the show every week and being a champion that defends the title on a regular basis only makes the title and its legacy grow.”

Rollins would bring up how his goal starts at the Money in the Bank PPV when he makes his next title defense against AJ Styles. He would bring up how it will be his first major title defense and a match that he’s been looking forward to for a very long time.

Kurt Angle Signs 5-Year Deal With WWE, Explains His New Role

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle addressed his future WWE during a recent interview with WrestlingInc. Just as he has stated before, he’ll be sticking around the company but not in an in-ring role. Instead, he’ll be working behind the scenes.

In this interview, Angle revealed that he recently signed a 5-year deal with WWE that will see him do part-time work in front of the camera, possibly as a manager. He will also be working behind the scenes as a producer.

“I’m going to help the wrestlers with their technique,” the WWE Hall of Famer explained. “I’m going to help them structure their matches. It’s something I’m very good at and I thought I’d be able to contribute to the company.”

This comes after Angle lost his farewell match and ended his run as an active in-ring performer to Baron Corbin at the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.

Before WrestleMania 35 while doing a recent interview with Sky Sports, Angle revealed that he went to Vince McMahon a few months ago to tell him that he wanted to retire this year because of how his body has been feeling.

WWE RAW Viewership Sees Series Low, Third Hour Drops Below Two Million Viewers

Monday’s edition of WWE RAW from Lexington, KY at the Rupp Arena averaged 2.158 million viewers, down from 2.374 million the previous week. As a result, this is the lowest non-holiday RAW viewership in history. The previous low was set back on December 10, 2018 when the show averaged 2,193,000 viewers.

Here is the hourly viewership breakdown, courtesy of ShowbuzzDaily:

  • Hour 1: 2.336 million
  • Hour 2: 2.241 million
  • Hour 3: 1.898 million

This episode finished fifth for the night in total viewers on cable. WWE did have to go up against to two NBA Playoff Games that had an impact on RAW’s viewership.

What’s notable is the fact that the third hour of the show dropped below two million viewers. For comparison, this show last year pulled in 3.136 million for hour one, 3.184 million in hour two, and 2.878 million for hour three. That same show also went up against the NBA Playoffs.

RAW featured a contract signing in the main event between Universal Champion Seth Rollins and AJ Styles for their title match at the Money in the Bank PPV. Some of the matches that took place include Braun Strowman & Ricochet vs. Baron Corbin & Drew McIntyre, The Usos (Jey Uso & Jimmy Uso) vs. Karl Anderson & Luke Gallows, Bobby Lashley vs. The Miz, Naomi vs. Alexa Bliss, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder vs. The Revival (Dash Wilder & Scott Dawson) in a non-title match, and Rey Mysterio vs. Samoa Joe.

WWE will attempt to rebound with its viewership for RAW next week. In case you missed the show, you can check out the seven takeaways here.

Seth Rollins Talks Dean Ambrose’s Future, Makes Promise About AJ Styles Match

WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins recently spoke with Solo Wrestling where he talked about a wide range of pro wrestling topics.

During the interview, he talked about Dean Ambrose departing from the WWE as his contract expired this month. This is where he made it known that only his former Shield brother knows what he’ll do next whether that’s signing with another promotion or returning to the WWE down the line.

“The only one who knows where Dean Ambrose is going now is Dean Ambrose,” Rollins said. “Maybe he’s working for another wrestling company, maybe he’s going back to WWE, maybe he’s going into another activity in the entertainment world, or maybe only take his dog for a walk in the company of his wife.”

Rollins is slated to make his next title defense against AJ Styles at the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event. This is where he promised to have a really special match with the former WWE Champion.

“I hope fans are as excited as AJ and me, because it’s going to be something really special. AJ Styles and me are the best wrestlers in the world right now. The match will be one of the most special this year.”

WWE presents the Money In The Bank pay-per-view event on Sunday, May 19, 2019 in Hartford, CT at the XL Center that will air on the WWE Network.

Rey Mysterio Celebrates 30 Years In Pro Wrestling

Congratulations are in order for Rey Mysterio, who is celebrating 30 years since his pro wrestling debut. His first match took place in 1989 back when he was just 14 years old.

Mysterio commented on the milestone on Twitter. He wrote, “On this day at the age of 14 I made my debut and it’s a very special day in Mexico ‘Día del niño’ (“Day of the Kid”). If I had the opportunity to re live these 30 yrs I would do it all over again. Thank you to all my fans!! Much love and respect!”

WWE has posted an interview with Mysterio talking about his storied career.

Mysterio said he was actually shocked to learn that today was his 30th anniversary in the business. He keeps various pieces of memorabilia from throughout his career and still has the pay check from his debut match.

Incredibly, the video below includes footage from that match. Rey says he could have never dreamed how his career would unfold. The struggles, the memories, the places he’s traveled and the crowds he’s performed in front have all been part of his journey. He was a fan of WWE as a child. He dreamed of becoming a pro wrestler and never expected to end up in WWE.

Mysterio is humbled that he’s one of the Superstars to have competed in WWE, WCW and ECW. He’s always tried to make the most of opportunities that were presented to him. He owes a lot of his in-ring ability to Konnan, who believed in him and opened doors for him from the beginning.

He does not know how much time he has left in the ring, but he’s humble and blessed that he can continue working at such a high level. He plans to continue wrestling until he can pass the torch to his son, Dominic.

Sting Names The WWE Superstar He’d Most Want To Work With

WWE Hall of Famer Sting is most likely retired for good, but that doesn’t stop fans from asking him about which current Superstars he’d like to work with.

Sting was in Washington, D.C. over the weekend for the Awesome Con event. During his panel, Sting spoke about his legendary career. When asked about a hypothetical matchup against an active performer, Sting said he’s intrigued by Bray Wyatt.

“Bray Wyatt has the personality,” Sting explained. “I like the whole Bray Wyatt thing. That would have been pretty interesting.”

The Undertaker is usually cited when talking about a ‘dream match’ for Sting, but Bray Wyatt’s character definitely fits the mold of creepy and mysterious.

Unfortunately, fans will probably have to fire up WWE 2K19 to see Sting vs. Bray Wyatt. The 60 year old has not wrestled since 2015 when he was injured in a match against Seth Rollins at Night of Champions.

Bray Wyatt sent a message to Randy Orton recently on Twitter. Rather than antagonizing his former rival, however, Wyatt said he forgives Orton for all he did to him.

Wyatt sent the following out on Twitter earlier today:

Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton

Randy Orton defeated Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33. Orton would then drop the title to Jinder Mahal that May. After WrestleMania, Wyatt and Orton would wrestle in a House of Horrors match at Payback 2017.

Before they were enemies, however, Wyatt and Randy Orton were partners. Orton was briefly a member of the Wyatt Family in 2016/17. Wyatt and Orton held the tag titles briefly as well. They defeated Heath Slater & Rhyno for the titles at the TLC PPV in late 2016. The Wyatt Family would use the “Freebird Rule” so that Luke Harper could defend the titles when teaming with either Orton or Wyatt as well. They would drop the titles to American Alpha that January.

Bray Wyatt – FireFly Fun House

The director of the recent Bray Wyatt videos, Jason Baker, recently offered up heavy praise to Wyatt for his commitment to the character.

“I’ve had the opportunity of working on films with Russell Crowe, Tom Cruise, Will Smith and a bunch of other people working here in the Pittsburgh film industry and his mindset for his character development is on par with those guys,” Baker said in regards to Wyatt.

Update On Gallows & Anderson Moved to Raw, Their WWE Futures

As seen Monday night, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson are now part of WWE’s Raw roster. While it was nice to see the Good Brothers back on television, they came up short against fellow Raw newcomers The Usos.

Gallows and Anderson are the latest act to switch brands well after the Superstar Shakeup two weeks ago. According to PWInsider, the decision to move them to Raw was made the night of the Shakeup. There’s no word on why WWE did not announce the change until this week.

Last month, word got out that Gallows and Anderson were offered new WWE contracts worth millions of dollars. They reportedly declined the offers and are still expected to finish up with WWE when their current deals expire in the fall.

Gallows and Anderson’s situation is strikingly similar to that of The Revival. Both teams are very talented, underutilized in WWE and might be on their way out despite big money offers that would provide them longterm financial security.

Both teams could very well decide to stay with WWE. However, even this hesitation to re-sign is indicative of the widespread unhappiness in the WWE locker room.

More Heat On Lio Rush, Update On His Future With WWE

We have an update on Lio Rush, courtesy of PWInsider. Rush’s WWE run has been plagued with reports of backstage heat. He addressed the situation last week on social media, but his future on the main roster remains in question.

The Man of the Hour was backstage at Monday’s Raw, but he was not used on camera despite Bobby Lashley having a prominent role. WWE has yet to acknowledge his absence. The latest buzz is that Lio Rush will soon be moved back to WWE’s NXT brand

Lio Rush did not make any allies when he mocked Tenille Dashwood’s WWE release back in the fall of 2017. PWInsider has provided new details about a few other incidents that are working against the 24 year old star.

Rush apparently got a lot of heat on himself back in November on WWE’s European tour. Junior members of the roster are expected to follow backstage etiquette that includes menial tasks. For example, handing out water bottles to talent in the gorilla position after their matches, setting up a private area for the talent back at the hotel, etc. Rush did not participate in these ‘paying your dues’ tasks. Not only was he unreceptive to feedback, but he reportedly complained to WWE management.

In addition to these incidents, Rush has also been bringing people backstage without proper credentials and has continuously ignored advice from veteran talent.

Overall, he’s earned a reputation that he feels ‘above it all’ and does not have to follow the rules and protocols that apply to everyone else. The behavior was first chalked up to inexperience, but things have not improved and he’s turning out to be his own worst enemy.

Seth Rollins Disposes Of The Revival After Raw (Video)

The closing segment of Monday’s WWE Raw from Lexington, KY saw the Money in the Bank contract signing between Universal Champion Seth Rollins and AJ Styles.

Believe it or not, the contract signing did not go as planned. Styles ended up putting Rollins through a table to end the segment.

After Raw went off the air, The Revival came out. The ‘top guys’ delivered a beatdown to Rollins, who was already in bad shape from the Styles attack.

Being the fighting champion that he is, Rollins eventually fought back and got the upper hand on Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson. Rollins hit a double Curb Stomp on The Revival to end the segment. You can see footage of the confrontation below.

Our live correspondent also noted the upper deck of the arena was tarped off due to renovations. She estimated the building was approximately 2/3 full.

3 More Lucha Underground Stars Seeking Release From Company

3 more Lucha Underground wrestlers have obtained legal counsel in order to obtain releases from the promotion. According to a report from LuchaCentral.com, Jeff Cobb, Sonny Kiss, and Famous B are all seeking releases from their Lucha Underground contracts.

“Lucha Central has learned that LU performers Matanza Cueto (Ring of Honor star Jeff Cobb), Famous B and XO Lishus (All Elite Wrestling’s Sonny Kiss) have all sought legal representation in order to get their release from the promotion.”

Jeff Cobb, Sonny Kiss, and Famous B Seek Releases From Lucha Underground

Jeff Cobb signed a 1-year deal with Ring of Honor last year. Despite this, it appears Cobb is still not free and clear of his Lucha Underground contract either. The report continues to say that LU has attempted to prevent Cobb from working with Ring of Honor.

Sonny Kiss is scheduled to be in the Over the Budget Battle Royale at Double or Nothing.

Famous B just finished up a Lucha Downunderground tour in Australia with Battle Championship Wrestling. Mil Muertes, Catrina, Chavo Guerrero, Aerostar, Drago, and PJ Black were also on the tour.

Additionally, it is being reported that Willie Mack could be added to the list of LU wrestlers seeking releases from their contracts. Evidently, a Cease and Desist was sent to the NWA for their use of Mack, who was formerly the NWA National Heavyweight Champion (he dropped the belt to Colt Cabana this weekend).

Previous Releases

Last month, Lucha Underground came to terms on the releases for Joey Ryan, Ivelisse and Kobra Moon.

Since then, Ivelisse attended a WWE tryout at the Performance Center. Joey Ryan has drawn interest from WWE and appeared on BTE in the buildup to Double or Nothing. Kobra Moon (aka Thunder Rosa) wrestles with SHINE, Shimmer, ROH, and other promotions. She is currently doing a tour in Japan with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling.

7 Takeaways From WWE RAW (4/29)

The April 29th, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. In addition to the takeaways below, another episode of Firefly Fun House aired during tonight’s show.

Here are 7 takeaways from this week’s episode of RAW:

Strowman, Ricochet, Corbin & McIntyre Will Be In The MITB Ladder Match

Alexa Bliss announced the RAW participants in the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match.

Braun Strowman, Ricochet, Drew McIntyre, and Baron Corbin were announced as the RAW participants. McIntyre confronted Corbin about stealing a victory from him last week and vowed to win the MITB Ladder Match.

McIntyre told Ricochet Strowman told everyone to shut up and claimed that nobody has what it takes to stop him.

Strowman and Ricochet then battled Corbin and McIntyre in a tag match. Corbin and McIntyre controlled the match early and isolated Ricochet in the ring. Strowman chased Corbin around the ring but wound up running into a Claymore from McIntyre. Corbin tried to steal the pinfall from McIntyre after he did all the work but it blew up in his face. Strowman got back up and planted Corbin with the Running Powerslam. Ricochet followed it up with the Shooting Star Press for the pinfall victory.

It is absurd how many episodes of RAW and SmackDown start off with an “impromptu” tag match. The match wasn’t entertaining because there was no reason to care about it at all.

The Revival Hit A New Low

The Revival (RAW 4/29)

Gallows and Anderson returned to RAW and promptly lost to The Usos. After the match, The Usos rolled footage of Dash Wilder shaving Scott Dawson’s back in the locker room.

The Revival came down to the entrance ramp to defend themselves but The Usos continued to poke fun at them. The Revival said that they will deal with The Usos later and went backstage to get ready for their match against Hawkins & Ryder later on the show.

Dawson and Wilder faced Hawkins and Ryder during the third hour of RAW. The Revival isolated Ryder in the ring and took turns beating him down as Hawkins pleaded for a tag from the ring apron. Ryder wound up rolling up Dawson for the pinfall victory.

The Revival is a terrific tag team that deserves much better. I’d like to see them in a different promotion in the near future, so they can return to delivering quality matches.

Shane McMahon Will Face The Miz In A Cage Match At WWE Money In The Bank

Shane McMahon distracts The Miz (RAW 4/29)

Bobby Lashley joined Miz for an episode of Miz TV tonight on RAW. Lashley stated that he is only going to answer the questions that he wants to answer. The Miz said that Lashley is one of the best talents to ever come through WWE, but some people believe that he is not reaching his full potential.

Lashley boasted about winning the Intercontinental Championship two times since he has returned and asked what The Miz has done. Miz ran down his accomplishments and called himself an overachiever for marrying Maryse. Bobby brought up The Miz losing to Shane McMahon at WrestleMania and added that he doesn’t blame Miz’s dad for thinking his son is worthless.

The Miz got pissed off and attacked Lashley in the middle of the ring. Miz got in a few shots before Lashley retreated out of the ring as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Lashley and The Miz were in the middle of a match. The Miz took control but Shane McMahon came down to the entrance ramp for a distraction.

Miz planted Lashley with a DDT for a near fall as Shane came down to the bottom of the ramp. Shane then hopped up on the ring apron and put a picture of The Miz’s dad on the jumbotron. Lashley capitalized on the distraction with a Spear of the pinfall victory. After the match, The Miz tackled Shane but Lashley slammed him to the canvas. Shane hit Miz with a flurry of punches and then choked Miz out. Shane then grabbed a microphone and said that he is the best in the world.

Later on RAW, The Miz was interviewed backstage about the attack. The Miz challenged Shane McMahon to a Steel Cage Match at WWE Money in the Bank. Shane McMahon quickly accepted the challenge on Twitter.

Alexa Bliss, Natalya, Dana Brooke & Naomi Will Compete In The MITB Ladder Match

Alexa Bliss announced the female superstars that will be competing in the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the PPV next month. Bliss announced Dana Brooke and Natalya as the first two Superstars and they quickly started arguing with each other.

Bliss interrupted them and announced that Naomi will be in the match. Naomi came down to the entrance ramp and vowed to win the match. Alexa announced herself as the fourth RAW Superstar that will be competing in the match. Naomi challenged Bliss to a match and Alexa accepted.

Bliss spent the majority of the match trying to tie her shoes and avoiding Naomi. Eventually, Naomi took control and Bliss’ shoes fell off. Bliss threw a tantrum and started shouting at the referee. Naomi capitalized with the Rear View and then a Moonsault for the victory.

Becky Lynch Brawled With Lacey Evans

Becky Lynch (RAW 4/29)

RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch came down to the ring to a great reaction from the crowd. Becky said that she doesn’t care about the odds and is not worried about defending both titles at WWE Money in the Bank.

Becky demanded that Lacey Evans come out to the ring so she can get some payback. Evans hit Lynch with two Woman’s Rights last week on RAW. Lacey came down to the entrance ramp and said that she was trying her best not to lose her manners.

Evans stated that she was done talking and charged the ring. Lacey and Lynch brawled on the entrance ramp as WWE officials tried to separate them. Becky and Lacey got in a few shots on each other before they were separated.

Lacey Evans isn’t getting that much of a reaction as a heel so far. I’m sure the audience would care more about her if she did more than walk down an entrance ramp for months before being thrown into a title match. I thought that this feud had the potential to be entertaining because Becky and Lacey are completely opposite characters. However, it has fallen flat and Lynch’s momentum is starting to fade now that she is on both shows.

Sami Zayn Plans To Hold The WWE Universe Accountable Every Week

Sami Zayn (RAW 4/29)

Sami Zayn gave another lecture about how the WWE Universe is entitled. Zayn claimed that if the WWE Universe doesn’t get exactly what they want, they throw a fit.

Zayn claimed that he bumped into a father and son at an airport this week. The boy wanted Sami to sign one of his action figures and Zayn declined. Sami stated that the boy started crying and that made him sick. Sami told the crowd that he doesn’t owe them anything and that he has been more than generous by delivering 17-years of classic matches.

Sami told the crowd that he will give him them whatever he wants and the crowd should sit there and take it. He asked the crowd if they wanted him to quit WWE and a few of them chanted “yes!”. Zayn said that quitting WWE would be amazing, but it is more amazing to hold the crowd accountable for their actions. He added that he is taking the power back from the crowd and dropped the microphone.

Styles & Rollins Signed The Contract

Seth Rollins and AJ Styles had a contract signing for their Universal Championship match at WWE Money in the Bank. AJ told Seth that he wanted the Universal Championship and that he has known Rollins for many years. Styles claimed that it has been so many times that Seth will be the “new AJ Styles”. AJ stated that Rollins will never be the phenomenal AJ Styles.

Rollins agreed and said that he never wanted to be the next AJ Styles, he wants to be the first Seth “freaking” Rollins. Seth added that this is not SmackDown, this is Monday Night Rollins. He added that AJ is going to have to better than phenomenal to take the Universal Championship.

The crowd started chanting “burn it down” as Styles not that Ambrose and Reigns aren’t on RAW to help him out anymore. AJ noted that Seth went through hell at WrestleMania and claimed that Rollins doesn’t have much left. Styles said that he was going to be a bulldog at Money in the Bank and he is going to sink his teeth in and will not let go until he is the new Universal Champion.

Seth stood up and said that while AJ likes to build things up, he likes to burn things down. Rollins pointed out that AJ failed to defeat Brock Lesnar and vowed to beat Styles at Money in the Bank. The two superstars signed the contract and AJ grabbed the belt. Styles took a look at it and then handed it back to Rollins. AJ extended his hand but Rollins opted to raise the title in his face.

Styles punched Seth in the face but Rollins got back up and booted AJ out of the ring. Rollins hit AJ with a Suicide Dive but took his eye off AJ. Styles connected with a Phenomenal Forearm through the table in the ring as RAW went off the air.

I certainly got the vibe that AJ Styles is going to be a heel on RAW. Gallows and Anderson also randomly showed up on the RAW roster tonight, so it is possible they reunite with Styles as well. At least I hope that is the case. The Universal Championship contract signing was legitimately the only segment of RAW that I enjoyed tonight. The rest of the show was terrible.

Steel Cage Match Set For WWE Money In The Bank

A new match has been announced for the upcoming WWE Money In The Bank PPV.

On Monday’s episode of RAW that saw Shane McMahon attack The Miz, the continuation of this feud progressed. Later in the show, Miz challenged the son of Vince McMahon to a Steel Cage Match at this upcoming show, which McMahon accepted via the power of Twitter. McMahon beat Miz in a wild match at WrestleMania 35.

Bray Wyatt Hosts Second Episode Of Firefly Fun House

Former WWE Champion Bray Wyatt was back at it again for a second straight week with his Firefly Fun House segment.

The episode was new on Monday’s episode of RAW in Lexington, KY at the Rupp Arena on the USA Network. The Firefly Fun House segment is a twisted take on kids television shows such as Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.

On this episode, Wyatt spoke with Rambling Rabbit and called Abby the Witch a sociopath.

While speaking with the witch, he was quoted by talking about how everything is in the past now as he’s sorry for what he did and then called her sort of a sociopath. He would then say that “Sociopath is the word of the day” and started to spell it out.

He also showed a photo of a burning house, which appears to be a reflection on his House of Horrors Match that he had with Randy Orton back at the Payback pay-per-view event in 2017 at the SAP Center in San Jose, California.
