LAX Drawing Interest From WWE & AEW

Santana and Ortiz are the longest reigning tag team champions in Impact Wrestling history. LAX is reported to be nearing the end of their current agreement with the promotion, however. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, LAX look to have options as they approach free agency.

“LAX’s contract expires later this summer, which is a key one because their stock has been upped greatly over the past several months,” wrote Dave Meltzer. “There is interest from AEW and WWE for all the obvious reasons. AEW is big on the tag team division and WWE is big on signing everyone.”

Impact Wrestling is said to be attempting to sign the pair to long-term contracts as well.

LAX Drawing Interest From Other Promotions

LAX has history with some of the EVPs from AEW. In a match for Chris Jericho’s Rock N Rager at Sea last summer, they took on the Young Bucks.

Santana and Ortiz were also scheduled to wrestle a show for WWE-associated promotion EVOLVE last year but were pulled from the event by Impact. EVOLVE issued the following statement on the matter:

“We are sorry to inform you that Impact Wrestling has pulled LAX off the upcoming EVOLVE dates. EVOLVE officials were contacted by LAX and informed that they were needed for something else that weekend. No other explanation was given. Impact Wrestling didn’t contact EVOLVE officials and left it up to LAX.”

Alexa Bliss Reveals Why She Felt Heartbroken Before Evolution

Alexa Bliss, also known as The Goddess of WWE, faced some severe injury scares recently including the two concussions she suffered in a short span of time. These concussions resulted in her missing months of action.

On WWE’s 365 documentary, Bliss spoke about a number of things including the concussions she suffered and how it led to her missing the Evolution PPV, leaving her heartbroken in the process.

Alexa first recalled her Hell In A Cell Match with Ronda Rousey. She revealed that her head went straight into the mat during the bout which caused a concussion. Though later in the interview, She acknowledged that these things happen and they are no one’s fault.

She then took a impact test which the former World Champion failed and the 27-year-old talked about how Vince McMahon himself told her that she would be given time off and the best doctors will aid her.

The Goddess started her general training soon after this as her goal was to be fit before the Evolution PPV, where she was expected to face Trish Stratus. Unfortunately, Alexa suffered another concussion at the weekend before Evolution during a live show.

This resulted in her being removed from the Evolution match and according to the former World Champion, she felt heartbroken by the news because she was looking forward to this bout and she wanted a match with Stratus from the day she started working in WWE.

Apart from this, The former multi-time Women’s Champion also talked about the lengthy medical procedures she had to go through and how Vince McMahon provided her emotional support throughout her ordeal.

Bray Wyatt Apologies

A few weeks later, Wyatt issued an apology to Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. He also added in that he missed Jon Moxley as well.

Bray Wyatt’s FireFly Fun House Mysteries

Wyatt’s new persona has fans trying to guess what exactly is going on with his FireFly Fun House. New episodes of the segment did not air this week but characters from the show did appear on both RAW and Smackdown.

On Smackdown, Huskus and Ramblin Rabbit were both seen in the background of backstage segments.

Earlier this week on RAW, Abby the Witch and Mercy the Buzzard appeared in the background of backstage segments as well.

Seth Rollins Comments On Paul Heyman’s New Role

News that Paul Heyman will be the new Executive Director of WWE RAW might not be welcomed by current Universal champion, Seth Rollins. Heyman’s client, Brock Lesnar, has been involved in a rivalry with Rollins for much of the year.

Rollins had the following to say when asked on Twitter if he felt Heyman’s appointment was fair and if he would request a transfer to Smackdown.

Rollins also had the following to say in regards to Eric Bischoff’s new role in WWE:

Paul Heyman on Seth Rollins

In reality, Paul Heyman has praised Seth Rollins publicly on multiple occasions. At a live version of the “Cheap Heat” podcast held last summer, Heyman was asked who he felt WWE’s next big rebel was and answered he felt it is Rollins.

“Seth Rollins. Seth Rollins, because he continuously comes up with moves that are politically incorrect and they have to tell him to stop doing them but they become so popular that they end up saying to him ‘alright go ahead, we’ll deal with it, go do it,’” said Heyman.

“It’s because he’s innovative and he rebels against the system that tries to be politically correct and he continues to be politically incorrect and when he came up with the saying of ‘Burn it Down,’ he was being honest about what he thought would be the constraints of what was being put on him, that he’s going to break through that and do things his way and innovate a style that you can only see in a Seth Rollins match.”

Backstage News On Length Of Brock Lesnar’s Current Contract

The majority thought that Brock Lesnar was done with WWE after WrestleMania 35 but he proved everyone wrong once again by showing up at the Money In The Bank PPV.

The reason for this thinking was the fact that Brock’s last contract expired after WrestleMania and the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Newsletter reveals some details on the new contract he has signed after that.

We noted before how WWE is trying to lock up other stars to long term contracts but Lesnar is known to keep his deals short and his latest deal is like that too.

According to the report, while WWE is trying to lock up other stars to 5-year contracts now, Lesnar has only signed a single year deal with the company.

The exact date of his contract expiration is not known yet, but The former World Champion’s current deal is believed to be expiring sometime in May or June next year.

Brock Lesnar returned to WWE programming at Money In The Bank. He replaced Sami Zayn in the bout and went on to win the briefcase, assuring him a world title opportunity at the time of his choosing.

Since then, he has teased cashing in the contract a number of times but hasn’t proceeded with the same and it looks like the company could continue this gimmick to bring Lesnar on TV whenever they need to, without having to figure out a storyline for him.

Backstage News On Undertaker’s Return, Extreme Rules Match

The Undertaker made his surprise return to WWE programming this week and many believed that the company might have brought him back after seeing the poor numbers of the Stomping Grounds PPV.

However, a latest report reveals that this was not the case and Taker’s return and his match at Extreme Rules were planned before the company had any idea about the PPVs performance.

According to Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Undertaker’s return was planned before the Supershow Down PPV in Saudi Arabia earlier this month, and so it had nothing to do with the low numbers of Stomping Grounds.

This also means that The former World Champion’s comeback was in the works before his highly criticized match with Goldberg at the Saudi Arabian PPV took place.

So the speculation from WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T who believed that Taker wanted to wrestle this match to get the taste of his bout with the former WCW Star out of his mouth, is also wrong.

Watch: The Undertaker returns to save Roman Reigns from The Authority:

The Undertaker made his return to WWE Programming during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw and he saved Roman Reigns from a beatdown at the hands of Shane McMahon and Drew McIntyre.

After Taker cleared the ring of McIntyre and McMahon, WWE announced that these two will be teaming up to face the Dead Man and the Big Dog in a tag team match at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV.

Kurt Angle Believes Baron Corbin Is The Best Heel In The Business Right Now

While people have different opinions on the heel work of Baron Corbin, Vince McMahon seems to be impressed with the former NXT Star. This is why he has been pushing Corbin recently and it appears that Kurt Angle agrees with McMahon’s decision.

The Hall Of Famer recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio where he talked about a number of things including his original choice of WrestleMania opponent for the farewell bout and more.

While discussing the person who eventually ended up being his opponent for the show in Baron Corbin, Angle claimed that the Lone Wolf is currently the best heel in the business:

“I think that Baron Corbin right now is the best heel in the business. If a person gets everybody to genuinely hate their guts, 24/7, you’re doing your job. Baron, he’s the top heel in the business right now. People may disagree, but he’s going to get the title eventually. He’s going to have a heel run and I think he’ll do extremely well.”

Apart from this, Angle also talked about his decision to retire at WrestleMania 35. He claimed that his original choice was John Cena and revealed that Vince McMahon was under the impression that Angle would continue competing until WrestleMania 36.

Backstage News On The Hiring Of New Executive Directors

WWE announced yesterday that Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff will be returning to the WWE creative teams to lead them as Executive Directors of Raw and SmackDown Live respectively.

While this announcement seemingly came out of nowhere, latest report reveals that the company has been considering this change for a while, at least in Heyman’s case.

According to a report from PWinsider, WWE has been pursuing Heyman to come on board officially going as far back as February this year.

He was reportedly made an offer to join the creative team as a top member around the same time Bruce Prichard was brought back as a Senior Vice President.

However, these conversations were progressing very slowly and they were only able to come to terms sometimes in the past week before the announcement.

There is no news on when WWE contacted Bischoff or when the deal came about, but it’s believed that the two parties agreed to terms sometimes last week as the former WCW Star quietly started canceling some personal appearances around the same time.

While Paul Heyman has not been a part of the WWE creatives in the recent while, he has been working with several stars and the former owner of ECW has provided input for storylines including his client Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey.

On the other hand, Eric Bischoff has been away from wrestling for a while. It’d be interesting to see what creative approach these two bring on the table in their new roles and what effect it will have on WWE programming.

John Cena Says His WWE Journey Is Far From Over

John Cena took some time out of his busy schedule to reflect on the anniversary of his WWE debut back 17 years ago.

Cena made his WWE TV debut on an episode of SmackDown in 2002 by answering WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle’s open challenge. There is a lot of history between these two stars but this was the most remembered by fans. The former WWE Champion took to his official Twitter account where he posted the following:

At the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium on the WWE Network, Angle called it a career when he lost to Baron Corbin in his retirement match.

Before Corbin was announced as his opponent, there were several fans including Angle who wanted it to be Cena to share the squared circle in Angle’s farewell match. However, that wasn’t the case.

Cena was last seen on WWE programming when he appeared at WrestleMania 35 to do a segment with Elias. He’s been away while focusing on his acting career.

Cena has his next Hollywood gig booked as he serves as the host the revival of “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?” He’ll also have a role in the next Fast & Furious film.

Rocky Romero: Fans Turning To NJPW Because WWE Doesn’t Listen To Them

Eight-time IWJP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Rocky Romero discussed the current state of wrestling and its boom, why the NJPW is gaining momentum, and whether the golden age of wrestling has begun while speaking to Fansided.

Romero thinks that the current era of professional wrestling is just the beginning and the true golden era is yet to arrive.

“I think we’re in the most interesting era of professional wrestling where every company big or small can make their own impact and every wrestler has more options than ever before. I think we are just seeing the beginning of it and the golden [era] is still to come.”

Romero also believes that the reason behind the current wrestling boom is the inability of WWE to deliver a quality product. More people are turning to alternative promotions, including NJPW, because WWE are unable to give what fans actually want.

“As the world gets smaller through social media, YouTube, etc. people can pick and choose the types of professional wrestling they want to watch, and the biggest producer of professional wrestling isn’t giving a lot of fans what they want. So, fans have a choice and that’s why you’re seeing a NJPW boom and an overall wrestling boom. The professional wrestlers are the best they have ever been in any era and that helps.”

Romero also stated that he would like to see NJPW’s international audience to triple, and become a household name in the United States. “In Japan I would like to see our audience double and internationally I would like to see our audience triple. Especially in the United States, I would love to see NJPW be a household name in professional wrestling.”

Stipulation Added To Jon Moxley vs Joey Janela At Fyter Fest

All Elite Wrestling announced an added stipulation to Joey Janela and Jon Moxley’s match at the upcoming Fyter Fest show. AEW confirmed today that the match will be unsanctioned with no disqualifications or count-outs.

“Due to both competitors’ propensity for violence and the statements coming from both camps, AEW has decided to strip this match of all rules,” reads a statement at the beginning of an AEW YouTube video announcing the stipulation.

“The moment I die in that professional wrestling ring is the moment my name goes down in the books because I’ve already made my mark,” Janela said in the video. “But unlike you Jon Moxley, I haven’t made millions, I haven’t been told by somebody that I had to dress like an auto mechanic.”

Fyter Fest streams live Saturday from Daytona Beach on B/R Live and the FITE app.

“While you were doing all these things in the last 10 years,” Janela continued. “While you were being a bootleg, watered down, PG, supervised version of your former self, I’ve been doing things that made your 17-year career look like child’s play.”

Fyter Fest Lineup

  • Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks vs. Pentagon Jr., Fenix, and Laredo Kid
  • Jon Moxley vs. Joey Janela – unsanctioned match
  • Cody vs. Darby Allin
  • Adam Page vs. MJF vs. Jungle Boy vs. Jimmy Havoc
  • Yuka Sakazaki vs. Riho vs. Nyla Rose
  • Christopher Daniels vs. CIMA

WWE Stars Encouraged Jon Moxley To Participate In G1 Climax

In a recent interview with New Japan Pro Wrestling, Jon Moxley talked about being part of the G1 Climax, and his thoughts on Shinsuke Nakamura.

Although part of All Elite Wrestling’s roster, Jon Moxley is currently competing for NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament and is the IWGP United States Champion. He reveals that he wanted to follow in the footsteps of former WWE Superstars Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes, as they inspired him to go to Japan.

“I tried to follow [the careers of Chris Jericho and Cody Rhodes]. When you travel in WWE, you’re kind of in a bubble and it’s difficult to follow along, but I did watch what I could. Then, when I knew I was leaving – Japan in general was definitely on my bucket list. I wanted to have a good run in Japan, and of course NJPW was the goal. So when I got the call from them, I was just like, ‘let’s go, put me on the airplane’.”

Moxley also revealed that current WWE stars Shinsuke Nakamura and Karl Anderson, who performed previously in NJPW, encouraged him to participate in the tournament.

“Well, Shinsuke Nakamura is in WWE and doing very well. I never got to wrestle him sadly, but he heard that I was likely going over to be in the G1, and he was very pleased,” Moxley said. “[He] said it was a great life experience. Karl Anderson, who I’ve actually been friends with since I was 18, since we’re both from Cincinnati, I asked him about the G1. A few others as well, and everybody was great and said, ‘yeah, go for it’.”

Moxley also had some praise for Nakamura. Moxley believes Nakamura has a differrent style but he fits well in the WWE because of his flamboyance.

“I think [Nakamura is] doing great there. Fans love him,” Moxley said. “It’s a different style, but he fits in well because he is charismatic, he is flamboyant. He can go, so whether it’s a New Japan ring or a WWE one he can do well anywhere.”

NJPW announced that the 2019 edition of the G1 Climax would take place from July 6 to August 12. The first night of the tournament will be held at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas, marking the first time the tournament has been held outside of Japan. Like the previous year, the final three shows will be held at Nippon Budokan. Moxley announced that he will be part of the tournament at at Dominion 6.9 in Osaka-jo Hall. He will be participating in Block B.

Io Shirai Turns Heel, Attacks Candice LeRae

On last night’s episode of NXT, Shayna Baszler successfully retained her NXT Women’s Championship against Io Shirai in a steel cage match.

Jessamyn Duke and Marina Shafir came out during the match to help Baszler, by preventing Shirai from escaping the cage. Candice LeRae help keep things balanced by coming out to help Shirai.

During the end of the match, Shirai was about to make it out of the cage when Baszler locked on her with her submission finisher ther Kirifuda Clutch through the bottom rope. Shirai was able to muster some strength to smash the cage’s door on Baszler’s head, but the champ ended up falling to the floor to win.

While The Horsewomen helped Baszler to the ramp, LeRae went to console Shirai. But what the Genuis of the Sky did next surprised the audience. She snapped, and put LeRae down, and kicked her multiple times. She next gets a chair and hit LeRae in the gut and on her back. Shirai then headed back to the ramp after beating up LeRae, and claimed that she didn’t need any friends.

The vicious attack left LeRae to recieve medical attention from WWE officials.

Becky Lynch Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary with WWE

‘The Man’ Becky Lynch posted to Twitter to commemorate the 5th anniversary of her WWE debut. The Raw Women’s Champion thanked her supporters and stated how fun it was to watch her haters’ head explode.

Lynch wrote, “It’s been 5 years since I debuted. 5 years of looking for ways to break through and not asking permission. For those who’ve supported me, thank you. For the others, it’s been fun to watch your heads exploding”

https://twitter.com/BeckyLynchWWE/status/1144186340935794688

Becky Lynch signed a contract with WWE in 2013, where she worked at NXT. She made her main roster debut in July 2015, and went on to become the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion at Backlash 2016, and went on to hold the titles two more times.

After sitting on the sidelines for most of 2017, Lynch developed a more aggressive persona starting at SummerSlam 2018, where she would attack Charlotte Flair after their match with Carmella. She dubbed herself “The Man” and lobbied for herself to get a chance as she thought of herself as an unfairly-treaten underdog. This would mark a turning point for Lynch’s career, as she would gain immense popularity and support from fans.

Lynch would ride on the momentum and win the 2019 Women’s Royal Rumble match, and would go on to headline WrestleMania for the first time, by winning both the Raw Women’s Championship and SmackDown Women’s Championship in a Winner takes all match against Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. This would make her a double champion and the only woman to do so.

Joey Janela Squashes Cody Hall In Twitter Beef

All Elite Wrestling’s Joey Janela got into an online beef with Cody Hall yesterday on Twitter, where he told Hall to get his act together.

Janela tweeted out that he wasn’t having a great morning owing to a very late flight. He also had to catch a train that would take two hours to get him home. He implied that he was in a bad mood, and asked everyone to leave him alone.

This is exactly when Cody decided to respond, and Hall wasn’t having any of the trolling. Hall wrote, “Post for attention, says leave me alone.”

Janela reponded in a brutal fashion and stated that Hall is 28, 6’9 and the son of Scott Hall, yet he isn’t signed anywhere, nor is he getting any notable independent dates. The Bad Boy urged Hall to get his act together.

https://twitter.com/JANELABABY/status/1143688432499200001

This prompted Hall to write a response of his own, where he specifically mentioned how handsome he is.

https://twitter.com/Cody_Hall1/status/1144003150652645376

It isn’t clear if the both of them are building up heat for a match down the road, or if they simply just don’t like each other. Whatever the case may be, it’s clear that it’s best to leave the Bad Boy to himself when he asks you to.

Britt Baker On Balancing Her Jobs As Wrestler & Dentist

Current AEW wrestler Dr. Britt Baker who is a doctor by day and wrestler by night, talked about juggling both of her careers and how she manages to do it while speaking to Diva Dirt.

Baker has studied behavioral medicine with a minor in human development and family studies at Pennsylvania State University, and is currently employed at a private practice in Winter Park, Florida. Baker talked about being a doctor-cum-wrestler and how she ended up taking this unusual path.

“It was when I was graduating from undergrad at Penn State University and I was moving to Pittsburgh to start my dental school education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. That was right at the same time I enrolled in the IWC Wrestling Academy, also in Pittsburgh, and I literally started my training for both dentistry and wrestling at the same exact time, like within months of each other.”

Baker reveals that it takes mental toughness to juggle both drastically different careers. She has to sometimes manage both on the same day, which includes work at the dental office, working out in the gym and wrestling, etc.

“Sometimes that seems a bit daunting as far as, is there enough hours in a day to get everything done, but it’s just a matter of putting one step in front of the other and just trying to relax and get everything done; and that’s the part that has been… my secret to success is never panicking and just power forward and get everything done that needs to be done.”

Baker was asked which wrestlers inspired her and she named legends like Lita, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, Edge as well as current female wrestlers such as Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch, Bayley, Natalya and Sasha Banks. She also said that her current boyfriend, WWE’s Adam Cole is also a huge inspiration to her.

“…I’m hugely inspired by Adam Cole, he’s obviously one of the most important people in my life. It may be biased, but I think he’s one of the best wrestlers in the world, and I love watching him wrestle and I love learning from him.”

WWE Names Paul Heyman & Eric Bischoff Executive Directors of RAW & SmackDown

In a giant shakeup to the WWE front office, Paul Heyman and Eric Bischoff have both been named as Executive Directors of WWE TV. As first reported by SI.com, Paul Heyman will be put in charge of WWE RAW and Bischoff will play the same role for WWE Smackdown.

Both Heyman and Bischoff will report directly to Vince McMahon. Bischoff will also work with FOX executives when Smackdown moves to the network this October.

Heyman & Eric Bischoff To Run WWE TV

“In their executive roles, Heyman and Bischoff will oversee the creative development of WWE’s flagship programming and ensure integration across all platforms and lines of business,” a WWE press release reads. “The creation of these roles further establishes WWE’s ability to continuously reinvent its global brand while providing two distinct creative processes for its flagship shows.”

Paul Heyman (53) ran ECW from 1993 until its closing in 2001. He started with WWE shortly after. Heyman left the company in 2006 after the disastrous December to Dismember PPV for the re-launched ECW brand. He returned to the company in 2012 as Brock Lesnar’s advocate.

64-year-old Eric Bischoff last worked full-time in the wrestling business in 2012 with TNA. He has made scattered appearances with WWE since then, including taking part in a documentary on his career which aired on the WWE Network. Bischoff was named Executive Vice President of WCW in 1994 and was eventually named President of the company in 1997.

In recently released details regarding Heyman and Bischoff’s hiring, PW Insider is reporting WWE has been looking for Heyman to take on this role since February. Bischoff’s deal with WWE is said to have been put together in the last few weeks.

The news comes on the heels of former Smackdown head writer, Road Dogg, stepping down after WrestleMania this year.

WWE has also made several other recent changes to their creative team. Jeff Jarrett was reported to have joined in March, Bruce Pritchard joined the team in February. Additionally, Dana Warrior is said to be a key creative figure as it concerns WWE’s women’s divisions.

Drew McIntyre On How NXT Stars Can Continue Their Momentum In Main Roster

WWE brings up stars from NXT to the main roster regularly, however, in the past few years, only a few of the NXT call ups have been able to make their mark on the main roster.

During a recent interview with Sam Roberts on Not Sam Wrestling podcast, Drew McIntyre talked about a number of things and also revealed his advice for the talents being brought up from NXT.

McIntyre said that the NXT Stars should not lose the factor that brought them to the dance. Continuing on the topic, he said that Raw and SmackDown are very different from NXT.

Drew explained his comments by saying that in NXT, people have more time to tell a story while the matches at Raw and SmackDown are like commercials for the characters and future PPVs.

According to him, telling a story in 30 minutes in NXT is easy but to continue the momentum, the stars need to figure out what brought them to the dance and how they can tell the story in hand in 5 minutes in main roster to get themselves over.

Apart from this, Drew McIntyre also talked about people complaining about the lack of opportunity in WWE, returning to the company from indies and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Kenny Omega Slams WWE For “Trying To Undermine” AEW Charity Show

WWE announced recently they plan to live stream the upcoming EVOLVE 10th Anniversary show on the WWE Network the same night AEW presents Fight for the Fallen. Both events will stream live on July 13th, 2019. News that WWE will be live streaming an event the same night as his promotion’s charity show upset AEW’s Kenny Omega.

“If lining your pockets with blood money is okay, then what’s wrong with trying to undermine a charity show for victims of gun violence?” Omega posted in a since-deleted Tweet. “I hear that healthy competition is supposed to be a good thing and yet I can’t help but feel like I’m gonna be sick.”

After deleting the Tweet, Omega then posted the following:

EVOLVE Anniversary Show + AEW Fight For The Fallen

Chris Jericho Reveals If The Undertaker Has A Separate Locker Room In WWE

Former WWE Champion Chris Jericho made headlines all over the world when he officially joined All Elite Wrestling. Ever since joining the new company, Jericho has been quite vocal about the problems he faced working for WWE and Y2J has also been providing interesting backstage scoops about the company.

Jericho was a guest on The Bubba Army pocast recently. During the interview, he talked about topics such as his career, Vince McMahon’s work ethics and how wrestlers get ready for their matches backstage. During the talk he also revealed which WWE Superstars have their own locker rooms

Chris Jericho claimed that very few Superstars get their own locker rooms. He stated that only ‘big guys’ such as Goldberg, Brock Lesnar or The Rock get their own rooms for changing. He also mentioned that while The Undertaker doesn’t have a seperate locker room, he usually changes in the talent relations room and The Phenom doesn’t have to deal with 50 Superstars stuffed in one room.

Apart from this, he also commented on the subject of work ethic in WWE and The former World Champion said that the work ethic while working for Vince McMahon is second to none. According to Jericho, in WWE, things start from the top and go down from there and everyone follows the lead of Vince McMahon, who is well known to be the ultimate workaholic.

CM Punk Files Countersuit Against Colt Cabana

The litigation between CM Punk and Colt Cabana is ongoing and there was a new development recently. Cabana filed suit against Punk last year (which has since been thrown out and re-filed) claiming Punk had promised to cover all legal fees relating to WWE doctor Chris Amann’s lawsuit against the pair.

According to a report from PW Insider, Punk has now filed a countersuit against Cabana for $600,000. The amount is said to be half of what Punk spent on his and Cabana’s legal defense.

Cabana’s team contends that Punk told Cabana he would be “100% covered” for any legal ramifications. Punk allegedly said this to Cabana after they received a legal demand letter to take the episode down. Punk’s team contends that Cabana had financial motives to leave the episode published, however.

There was then said to be a falling out between the pair and Punk told Cabana he would no longer be covering his legal expenses.

Cabana is seeking $200,000 from Punk for legal fees he says he incurred. His lawsuit has been thrown out and re-filed twice.

Jon Moxley Talks Signing With NJPW, Entering the G1, & More

Jon Moxley will face Joey Janela this Saturday in Daytona Beach for AEW. Following that match, he’ll head to Tokyo to begin the G1 Climax tournament on July 13th. Moxley will miss the first night of the tournament in Dallas due to his AEW contract preventing him from working for NJPW in the United States.

The second part of Moxley’s interview with NJPW1972.com was published today. During the interview, the current IWGP United States champion spoke about why he signed with NJPW, the upcoming G1 tournament, and even a possible match with Minoru Suzuki someday.

“I’ve always been a fan of NJPW. I loved their wrestlers and matches,” Moxley said when asked why he signed with the promotion. “When I was in Florida I was obsessed with watching Hiroshi Tanahashi and Minoru Suzuki. To me NJPW is pro-wrestling, and I knew I needed to be here.”

When asked about the G1 tournament, Moxley had the following to say:

“I’ve watched a lot of matches from it. Lots of great matches, grueling fights. I’ve heard it’s the toughest, most grueling, most challenging tournament in all of sports. It’s a meat grinder, four weeks of hell. It’s got a hell of a reputation as being the toughest thing you can do as a professional wrestler. That’s intriguing to me as a fan, and it’s intriguing to me as a wrestler.”

The topic of possibly wrestling Minoru Suzuki one day was also brought up during the interview.

“I would love nothing more than to share a ring with him,” Moxley said on Suzuki. “He snaps my arm, cool, it was an honor. I snap his, and I’ve snapped the arm of the great Minoru Suzuki. So either way it’s a good result for me and the fans. That idea, it’s just two dudes who… I feel I understand him. The pleasure he gets out of inflicting pain, and the pleasure he gets out of being in wars.”
