Bayley Wants WWE To Create Queen Of The Ring Tournament

WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley wants WWE to create a version for women stars that is similar to the King of the Ring.

Bayley talked about the return of the King of the Ring tournament during an appearance on the KSFY Morning News while promoting a WWE show.

Since the news of the return of the fan-favorite tournament, fans have been pushing for a Queen of the Ring tournament. This is something that Bayley agrees with.

Jerry Lawler Explains Why He’s Not Too Crazy About WWE King Of The Ring

“We kinda want a Queen of the Ring. If you guys could make that happen, I would love that.”

Time will tell whether or not WWE will actually create such a tournament. It wouldn’t be a big change as WWE has done the same thing with various matches and gimmicks for female talent.

This includes a women’s Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and Money in the Bank among others.

There was a rumor going back to last year where WWE was considering the idea of a Queen of the Ring tournament. Obviously, that never came to be.

The most recent tournament for women came in the form of the Mae Young Classic, which is an all-women’s tournament featuring top Independent talent.

WWE has yet to announce the 2019 Mae Young Classic.

Kofi fights off The Revival with the steel chair, and Kofi clears the ring. Orton and The Revival retreat up the ramp.

– We see a video package looking at the mysterious backstage attacks on Roman Reigns, and Daniel Bryan saying that he will reveal Reigns’ attacker tonight.

– We see Shane McMahon backstage polishing the screen on his TV in his office. Kevin Owens walks in after Shane summoned him. Shane asks Kevin not to rip up his office and display the same abhorrent behavior he did last week. Owens says he’s not here to make things worse, he wants to focus on his King Of The Ring tournament match. Shane says Owens looks like he has a lot on his mind, and tells him to spit it out. Owens says last week Shane fined him $100,000, and Kevin flipped out. Owens says $100,000 might be nothing to Shane, but it’s a lot to Kevin and his family. Owens asks Shane as a father to reconsider his fine. Shane says he’ll consider it, and sends Owens on his way.

Andrade vs. Apollo Crews: This one is a King Of The Ring tournament match. Zelina Vega is at ringside. Apollo starts off swinging right out of the gate with a clothesline on Andrade immediately after the bell. Andrade fights back and the opening moments of the match are very competitive. Andrade looks for a cross body off the top, but Crews knocks him out of mid-air with a dropkick. They fight out to ringside, and Andrade sends Crews into the ring steps with a hurricanrana. Back in the ring, Andrade goes for another cross body off the top, but Crews catches him and slams him. Crews and Andrade trade blows in the middle of the ring, and Andrade stuns Crews with a big boot. Apollo climbs the turnbuckle, but Crews stuns him with an enziguri. They continue to brawl back and forth until Andrade, but then Zelina gets involved from ringside and distracts Apollo. Andrade will now face the winner of Chad Gable vs. Shelton Benjamin.

Winner: Andrade

– 24/7 Champion Elias is backstage warming up his guitar. He notices a referee standing by, and he makes the person tell him where the hopeful challenger to his 24/7 Title is. The ref points to a road box, and Elias opens it up and grabs Drake Maverick. Elias hands Drake a note from Shane McMahon, saying that the 24/7 Title rules are suspended tonight so Elias can focus on his match, no exceptions. Elias shoves Drake back in the box and walks off. Drake sticks his head out and the box lid falls on him. Drake says he just wants to consummate his marriage.

– Women’s Tag Team Champions Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross come out to the stage to host A Moment Of Bliss. First they pose with their Tag Title belts, then they introduce their guest Charlotte. Charlotte starts talking trash about Bayley and running down a list of her flaws. Charlotte says she is the face of SmackDown, and Bayley is just an afterthought, and Bayley is bringing down the value of the SmackDown Women’s Title. SmackDown Women’s Champ Bayley comes out and tells Charlotte she keeps saying the same stuff over and over. Bayley tells Charlotte to shut her mouth and she pushes Charlotte off her chair.

– We see Buddy Murphy backstage getting ready in his locker room. Roman Reigns walks in and they come face to face. Reigns wants to know if Buddy lied to him, or he lied to Rowan and Bryan. Murphy says he’s pretty sure he saw Rowan. Reigns says “pretty sure” isn’t good enough. Murphy says he’s sick of dealing with this, and he was only trying to help Reigns. Reigns says if he finds out Murphy is lying again, he’s going to come back and whoop Murphy’s ass again.

– Daniel Bryan and Rowan come out to the ring, then Buddy Murphy comes out for their match. Bryan gets on the mic and confronts Buddy, and calls him a cowardly liar. Bryan says tonight they’re going to reveal who has been committing these tragedies against Roman Reigns, and they’re going to reveal that Buddy had something to do with it too.

Daniel Bryan vs. Buddy Murphy: Murphy starts off with a boot to Bryan’s face right off the opening bell. Murphy continues bringing the fight to Bryan, until Bryan uses his speed to get away from Murphy and fire back with some kicks. Bryan drops Murphy and puts the boots to him, yelling that Buddy is a liar. Murphy fights back and climbs the turnbuckle, then hits a flying knee strike on Bryan. Bryan fights back and wrestles Murphy down to the mat, then he applies the Yes Lock. Murphy breaks the hold. Bryan nails Murphy with some kicks now. They fight into the corner, where Bryan hangs Murphy upside down and dropkicks him. Bryan hits a back suplex off the top rope for a two count. They fight into the opposite corner, but this time Murphy fights back and powerbombs Bryan off the turnbuckle for a two count. Murphy hits a brainbuster for another two count. Rowan gets on the apron to argue with the ref. Bryan accidentally runs into Rowan, which leads to Murphy kicking Rowan off the apron and then hitting the Murphy’s Law on Bryan. Murphy pins for the three count.

Winner: Buddy Murphy

Heavy Machinery vs. The Revival: It’s all Heavy Machinery in the opening moments of this one, and Tucker and Otis clear the ring. Back in the ring, Wilder fires up and starts working over Tucker. Dash scores the three count after a short but competitive match.

Winners: The Revival

– Chad Gable does an interview backstage where he says he may be an underdog in the King Of The Ring Tournament, but that was the case his whole life in amateur wrestling. While he’s speaking, Shelton Benjamin comes out of the men’s locker room and he puts a sign on the door behind Gable. Gable goes to walk in the locker room, and sees that the sign says “you must be this tall to enter the locker room.” Gable says “funny” and walks in.

– The mystery man is still sitting in Bryan and Rowan’s locker room.

– The Miz comes out to the ring to host Miz TV. he introduces his guest, Sami Zayn. Zayn and Miz trade jabs about Sami losing a lot lately, and then Sami introduces his new associate Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura. Nakamura comes out to the ring and stands next to Sami. Miz asks why Shinsuke would need to associate with Sami, when Shinsuke is the Intercontinental Champion. Sami asks Miz what language he wants Shinsuke Nakamura to answer in – English or Japanese? Sami says that English isn’t Shinsuke’s native language, and it’s hard for an artist to express himself in a foreign language. Sami says he is also an artist so he understands Shinsuke, and he’s going to be Shinsuke’s mouthpiece from now on. Sami says they can speak a language even Miz can understand, and then Shinsuke kicks Miz in the back of the head and hits him with the Kinshasa from behind. Nakamura hits another Kinshasa in the corner, and Sami has to hold Nakamura back. Sami stops holding him back, and Shinsuke then hits the Kinshasa on The Miz once again. Nakamura and Zayn leave together.

– Shane McMahon calls Kevin Owens into this office again. Shane says Kevin never apologized for what he did. Owens says Shane is right, and Owens apologizes for putting his hands on a WWE official. Shane says he is considering lifting the fine, but if Kevin ever touches a WWE official again, he will be immediately fired. Kevin says he agrees, and he goes to shake Shane’s hand, but Shane says he’s not quite there yet. Owens walks off.

Kevin Owens vs. Elias: This one is a King Of The Ring tournament match. Elias starts off strong in this one, and he takes Owens outside and slams him into the fan barricade. Back in the ring, Owens fights back and drops Elias in the corner, then follows up with a cannonball splash for a two count. Shane McMahon’s music hits, and “The Best In The World” comes out to the ringside area for a closer look at the match. The fight between Owens and Elias spills out to ringside, and Owens hits a frogsplash off the apron on Elias on the ringside floor. Back in the ring, Elias starts fighting back, and he tries to keep Owens grounded with a side headlock. Owens fights back with a DDT and a missile dropkick off the turnbuckle. Owens looks for a Swanton bomb, but Elias gets the knees up to block it. The fight spills out to ringside, and Owens hits a cannonball splash off the apron on to Elias at ringside. Shane gets out of his seat and tells Owens to give Elias some space and let him back in the ring. Shane takes off his jacket to reveal he is wearing a referee shirt. Shane gets in the ring and tells the other referee to get out. Owens gets back in the ring and trades shots with Elias. Elias tries to shove Owens into Shane, but Owens stops. This leads to Elias rolling up Owens from behind, and Shane counts the fast three. Elias advances in the King Of The Ring tournament.

Winner: Elias

– Elias and Shane celebrate on the ramp after the match.

– Roman Reigns walks in to Daniel Bryan and Rowan’s locker room, where they have a guy sitting under the black sheet. Bryan says they found the guy who nearly ended Roman’s career. Bryan pulls the sheet off of him, to reveal a guy with a shaved head and red beard, who looks kind of like Rowan. Rowan and the mystery guy both look at Roman, and Roman looks confused as SmackDown goes off the air.

Mark Henry On If Any Scenario Would Bring Him Out Of Retirement

WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry sat down with Wrestling Inc.’s own Nick Hausman where he talked about a wide range of pro wrestling topics.

During the interview, he discussed a potential return to in-ring action. This is where he noted there’s no more wrestling for him but rather he’s doing a lot of hugging, shaking hands and kissing babies.

Henry noted that the only person in his life could get him to come out of retirement and that’s his wife. This would only be for a big payday such as a match in Saudi Arabia.

“I would say no, but my wife would say yes,” Henry explained. “If you start throwing a little money around, you know, we’ve got to get them bills paid.”

Ronda Rousey Comments On Nearly Severing Finger

Former WWE RAW Women’s Champion Ronda Rousey had an interesting day on set while filming her latest project. TMZ reported that a Rousey suffered a gruesome finger injury on the set of FOX’s “9-1-1” while shooting a scene in Mexico last week.

It happened when she slammed a door during an action moment and it crushed her fingers. Her middle finger was broken and her tendon was nearly severed.

This didn’t stop her as she completed the scene without a hitch and then was taken to a hospital for treatment. She had to get her middle finger repaired with a bolt and screws. Rousey then went back to work the next day.

WWE 24/7 Champion Elias recently spoke with The Argus Leader to talk about a wide range of pro wrestling related topics and to promote Tuesday’s SmackDown Live TV event from Sioux Falls, SD.

During the interview, he brought up his segment with Edge at SummerSlam. This is where Elias noted that there’s a whole story behind the segment that will come out one day.

Elias talked about how he was all over the place at SummerSlam and anytime he can get involved in anything, he tries to make the best of it.

“There’s a whole story to that’ll come out someday. But what a moment that was, the crowd began to go insane when he came out there. So that was really something to be a part of.”

Edge: “I Think I Could Do A Match Tomorrow”

Elias talked about how later in the show he was a special enforcer with the Shane McMahon and Kevin Owens match. He noted that he did everything he could to stop Owens but Owens just outsmarted everybody.

At the WWE SummerSlam pay-per-view event in Toronto, Ontario, Elias was doing a concert on the pre-show where he was interrupted by Edge. The hometown star hit Elias with a spear to end the segment.

Details On Minimum Money WWE Is Receiving For NXT TV Rights Fees

Some details have surfaced as to how much money WWE is getting for airing NXT TV on the USA Network.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reports that WWE is getting a minimum of $50 million per year in rights fees with NXT. This is the latest deal to add to the sum of money that WWE gets for their television programs.

It was noted that the number could be more than $50 million, but that is the “bottom” number.

In the press release that officially announced the news, WWE Chairman and CEO Vince McMahon noted that the goal was to make NXT as profitable as Raw and SmackDown.

“The move to USA Network provides an opportunity to deepen our relationship with NBCUniversal and further build the NXT brand,” said Vince McMahon. “Over the long term, our goal is to develop a following that can be monetized to the same level as our flagship programs, Raw and SmackDown.”

WWE Confirms NXT 2-Hour Weekly Live Show On USA

Meltzer added that McMahon is not expected to be at the NXT shows and in fact, he has been missing more RAW and SmackDown Live TV events as of late.

Fightful and Pro Wrestling Sheet have reported that the NXT product will remain the same despite moving networks.

Along with the NXT TV, WWE will also make $265 million per year with RAW on the USA Network while SmackDown Live will bring in $205 million per year on FOX.

The following are some additional articles we’ve published regarding NXT TV moving to the USA Network and going head-to-head with AEW on TNT each Wednesday night:

AJ Lee Hired To Co-Write New GLOW Comic Book Series

Former WWE Divas Champion, and New York Times Bestseller, AJ Lee has been hired to help bring Netflix’s GLOW to the world of comic books. The third season of the ’80s based show was recently released on the streaming service.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, AJ Lee will be co-writing ‘GLOW vs The Babyface’ alongside actress Aimee Garcia (Dexter, Lucifer). Hannah Templer will be providing art for the series.

Speaking on her new writing position, Lee said:

“As huge fans of the Netflix series, Aimee and I are thrilled and honored to get our hands on the ladies of GLOW. Aimee’s experience in acting and my experience in pro-wrestling makes us a formidable tag team with a unique perspective to truly channel the voices of these hilarious heroines. Our mission as writing partners is to represent diverse, complex, and unbreakable female characters, which is why GLOW feels like the perfect fit.”

Garcia added, “I’m a huge fan of GLOW. I grew up reading comics and never saw myself represented in them, so I’m excited to explore these trailblazing characters and create the change for the next generation. AJ and I are basically writing for our younger selves.”

The first issue of the GLOW comic book will be released by IDW this November.

News On Mauro Ranallo’s NXT Future Following USA Announcement

WWE has officially announced that NXT will be debuting on USA Network. Thankfully, it appears as though their announce team will be moving with them come September.

According to Dave Meltzer via Wrestling Observer Radio, the current broadcast team of Mauro Ranallo, Nigel McGuinness, and Beth Phoenix will continue to host NXT after it extends to its two-hour time slot.

Meltzer hinted at the history that exists between Mauro Ranallo and Vince McMahon. He stressed that, at this point in time, Vince is not expected to be at these Wednesday night shows. This is apparently a contributing factor in having Ranallo continue as the lead commentator of the NXT team.

If Vince McMahon were to change his mind, deciding to become more involved as NXT competes with All Elite Wrestling, things may inevitably change.

It was only recently speculated that, if NXT were to end up on the USA Network, there would be no way that Vince McMahon would be able to be “hands-off.

But for now, the WWE Universe will be able to continue enjoying the commentary from NXT’s announce team, led by Mauro Ranallo’s passionate contributions.

NXT on USA Network will debut on September 18th at 8/7 C.

Kevin Owens Discusses Shane McMahon Feud, His Version Of The Stunner

Kevin Owens has shared his thoughts on his feud with Shane McMahon in a recent interview with Sporting News. He also addressed his usage of the Stunner, and how he views his version of it versus “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s.

When it comes to Shane McMahon, Owens believes that, despite the current length of their feud, the two still have avenues to explore together.

“I kind of expected it to keep going just because Shane, he’s obviously not going anywhere because of who he is,” Owens said. “I’m not surprised that we’re going to keep going. I feel like there’s still avenues to go. There’s still stuff we can do together, so we’ll see what happens.”

He explained that playing a good guy in their feud has helped add a different element to their rivalry. The key thing Owens has relished is the change this new dynamic has given him.

“It feels good just because it’s different. I was doing the same thing for a long time and it was great, but change is always good, I think. And trying to keep things different and interesting in wrestling is pretty important. I’m just glad to be doing something that feels different and is more stimulating for me and I think the fans, the audience, is reacting very well to it so we’re doing something right and hopefully it keeps going that way.”

Stunner

Insofar as how Owens views his version of the move synonymous with “The Rattlesnake,” Owens admitted that he doesn’t know how to describe it.

“Obviously, it’s big shoes to fill, right? Not that I’m trying to be in Steve’s shoes, but when you’re doing a move that’s been so iconic for so long, it’s hitting right and it’s working well,” he said. “The crowd reaction is always really cool to it. It’s nice to almost be able to bring it back just because I remember how it used to make me feel when he’d hit it and how exciting it was visually and all that stuff. I’m just trying to do right by it, I guess.”

Owens recently defeated Shane McMahon during their matchup at WWE’s SummerSlam pay-per-view.

Triple H, Jim Ross, Chris Jericho & More Comment On NXT’s Move To USA Network

On Tuesday, WWE confirmed the big rumor that NXT TV is moving to the USA Network. The show is expanding to two hours and will air live each week from Full Sail University in Winter Park, FL. NXT on USA Network will go head-to-head each Wednesday night against AEW’s new series on TNT.

WWE’s official announcement on the matter included some quotes from Vince McMahon. WWE’s Chairman and CEO said his goal is to develop NXT’s following so it can be monetized to the same level as Raw and SmackDown.

NXT moving to the USA Network changes the wrestling landscape in multiple ways:

  • WWE now has a third weekly television show in prime time. This puts even more pressure on the company to produce compelling first-run content.
  • NXT has moved even farther away from being a ‘developmental’ brand for the unpolished wrestlers of tomorrow. The upside is that NXT’s top performers are getting the USA Network spotlight.
  • The ‘cold war’ between WWE/NXT and AEW just heated up in a big way.

This is a huge story that we’ll be covering in-depth in the weeks to come. Business is about to pick up in a big way.

Reactions to NXT Moving to USA Network

It did not take long for the wrestling world to react to this blockbuster news.

Below, you can find some first-impression takes from industry leaders such as Triple H, Jim Ross, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Chris Jericho and more.

R-Truth Wants To Be Remembered As “The Greatest All-Around Entertainer In The World”

R-Truth has helped elevate the 24/7 Championship with his constant commitment and willingness to entertain the fans, no matter what is asked of him.

Speaking with City Pages, R-Truth looked back on conversing with Little Jimmy and his love of entertaining the WWE Universe. He also shared what he wants to be remembered for.

When it came to the invisible Little Jimmy, Truth believed that the fans were able to accept Jimmy because of R-Truth’s character. He stated that thanks to the fans acceptance of him, R-Truth can “get away with pretty much anything.”

For him, however, it always comes down to entertaining the WWE Universe and helping them have a good time.

“I just liked entertaining people, man. I like the feeling it gives me,” Truth said. “I was performing when I was in middle school, being the class clown. I like laughter. I like humor. I like positive, good things, and entertainment is just positive.”

This drive to entertain ties in with how he’d like to be remembered by the fans when he decides to retire. For him, he’d like to be remembered as the “greatest all-around entertainer in the world” adding that, for now, he can “[…] still go in the ring. I can go on the mic. And I can entertain. I am the best. Just to sum it up, period.”

Just last night, R-Truth attempted to regain his “baby,” the 24/7 Championship from current champion, Elias:

Sheamus Addresses Retirement Rumors

During a recent international promotional tour for WWE, Sheamus participated in a Q+A session in Manila, Philippines. This was done to promote WWE Live Events taking place in the country in September.

During the Q+A session itself, Sheamus was asked about the retirement rumors that have been circulating him since his injury forced him out of in-ring action.

“I don’t know what the story is in my future,” Sheamus admitted. “I have no idea, I honestly don’t. I just know that I like have some time off, but I do miss being in the ring.”

Grand Slam Goals

If The Celtic Warrior does return, he already has an opponent in mind. He also has clear championship aspirations.

The Superstar he would love to face off against is none other than The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar. The championship? The Intercontinental title.

“If I get back to the ring, that would be the first thing I would go after. As of now I am still listed as a SmackDown superstar and the title is on SmackDown. But as of now, I have no access to the title but its definitely the one I want,” he explained.

The Intercontinental championship is the only one to have eluded Sheamus during his tenure in WWE. If he were to win the Intercontinental champion, the victory would see him become a WWE Grand Slam champion.

Revealing how Heyman has helped him with his presentation, the former Cruiserweight Classic competitor said that Paul has helped him with his mic skills and also given him pointers on how to project himself better:

“It’s been great working with Paul; he’s really helped me feel more comfortable. He saw a match I had with Bobby Roode months ago on an episode of Main Event and he was a very big fan of it. He’s given me pointers on how to project myself better to fans and small little show business quirks.

While Cedric has not had any meaningful rivalry since his move to Raw in April yet, the lightweight star recently had a few spotlight moments when he got involved in the storyline between Roman Reigns and Shane McMahon.

Alexander jumped off of a part of the titantron set that displays the entrance videos during a recent episode of Monday Night Raw. His fearless jump led to comparisons with the likes of Shane McMahon and Jeff Hardy.

Talking about the angle and his jump, the Raw Star said that it’s awesome to think that the moment will be played on the show on a loop for many years to come.

Apart from this, Cedric Alexander also talked about the upcoming King Of The Ring tournament and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Vince McMahon Absent From RAW, Who Ran The Show

According to reports from Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, the boss Vince McMahon was not present for this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw.

Satin revealed the news via a tweet from his official account, claiming that Triple H, the new Executive Director Paul Heyman, and Kevin Dunn were running the show in his absence:

Due to his reputation of being a workaholic, McMahon missing live broadcast of any show is always a newsworthy event, though this wasn’t the first time he has missed a WWE show in recent times.

He missed another SmackDown Live taping just last month, though he still saw and approved the script for the episode ahead of time through his mobile.

It’s interesting to note here that reports suggested that WWE would be making NXT’s move to USA Network official during this week’s episode of Raw.

However, not only the show didn’t feature any such announcement, the broadcast also lacked any mention of the development territory apart from the segments featuring NXT tag team The Street Profits.

While these two situations might have nothing to do with each other, it does make people wonder if there was a connection. It would be interesting to know if the company actually postponed the announcement due to Vince’s absence.

The Young Bucks React To News Of NXT Moving To USA Network

The Internet was buzzing with the news of NXT being moved to the USA Network to compete with AEW throughout the weekend, with people revealing their thoughts on the positive and the negative of this change.

Chris Jericho previously reacted to the news during an interview, saying that it will dilute the product more and now the Young Bucks have also reacted to this revelation.

The Bucks took on their Twitter account recently and while replying to the tweet featuring the original report on the matter, they claimed that they are not scared:

It was reported by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer that NXT will be premiering on Cable Television on Wednesday, September 18th.

The show is going to be stretched to a 2-hour broadcast and it’s going to air live on a weekly basis to compete with AEW’s TV show airing on TNT in the same time slot.

However, while reports suggested that the announcement for this would be made on this week’s Raw, it didn’t turn out to be the case and there was no mention of NXT during the broadcast of the Red Branded Show.

Now we will have to wait and see if the company makes the news official any other time this week or if we’ll have to wait more for updates on the situation.

8 Takeaways From WWE RAW (8/19)

The August 19th, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Xcel Energy Center in St Paul, MN. In addition to the takeaways below, Rey Mysterio was about to retire during the show but was interrupted by his son. Dominick told his father not to retire and asked him to team up with him.

Here are 8 takeaways from this week’s show:

Roman Reigns Defeated Dolph Ziggler

Jerry “The King” Lawler joined commentary for this week’s episode. Roman Reigns faced Dolph Ziggler to start off the show. Ziggler told Roman that he is glad that he is okay but just wondered why Reigns gets all this attention for things almost happening to him.

Ziggler stated that he got Speared by Goldberg by three times and proceeded to go on another “it should be me” rant. Dolph hit Reigns with a Superkick out of nowhere as the crowd chanted “you still suck!”. Ziggler planted Reigns with a Zig Zag outside the ring as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Ziggler was still in control and the crowd was still booing. Roman battled back and launched Ziggler to the outside. Back in the ring, Roman hit a Clothesline and tried to fire up the crowd. The audience responded and chanted as Reigns hit nine shots in the corner and then a big boot.

Reigns went for the Superman Punch but Dolph got out of the way and hit a DDT for a two count. Ziggler connected with another Zig Zag for a near fall. Dolph mocked Shawn Michaels and then went for Sweet Chin Music but Roman dodged it. Reigns hit a Superman Punch and went for the cover but Dolph kicked out at two.

Roman once again fired up the crowd and went for a Spear but Ziggler countered into a Fameasser for another near fall. Ziggler started taunting Roman and Reigns responded with a Spear for the pinfall victory.

I’ve reached the point where I instantly lose interest once Dolph Ziggler is on the screen. He is the highest-paid jobber in the world. There wasn’t any reason for this match to happen. Roman Reigns has a big segment tomorrow night with Daniel Bryan and Rowan on SmackDown, in which he’s trying to figure out who basically tried to murder him twice. It seems odd that he would get distracted with a Twitter beef in the middle of that storyline.

The Fiend Attacked Jerry Lawler

Becky Lynch cut a backstage promo and brought up Banks running away from WWE four months ago. Lynch took credit for Banks’ popularity and vowed to give Sasha something to go run home and cry about.

Sasha Banks was set to join Jerry Lawler for an episode of The King’s Court to discuss her attack on Natalya and RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch last week. Lawler spoke about the King of the Ring Tournament and was about to introduce Banks when the lights in the arena went out. The Fiend appeared behind Lawler and locked in the Mandible Claw on Lawler. Wyatt then posed in the ring before the lights went out again. WWE officials checked on Jerry on the entrance ramp as the crowd chanted “yowie wowie!”.

Seth Rollins Saved Braun Strowman

AJ Styles defended the United States Championship against Braun Strowman to begin the 2nd hour of this week’s RAW. Gallows and Anderson accompanied AJ to the ring for the match.

Styles slapped Strowman in the face and went for a chop block but Braun didn’t budge. Braun knocked Styles out of the ring and chased him around. AJ rolled back into the ring and attacked Strowman while he was on the apron.

Strowman went for a Chokeslam but AJ escaped and connected with a couple of kicks. Strowman hit Styles with a Back Body Drop and went for a Splash but AJ countered with a kick. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Braun swatted him out of the air. Gallows attacked Strowman from behind and the match ended in a DQ.

The O.C. beat Strowman down for a couple of minutes before Seth Rollins made the save. Rollins rushed the ring and knocked The O.C. to the outside. Rollins told Strowman that they were even and shook his hand. Strowman didn’t let go and had a brief staredown with Seth to conclude the segment.

Seth Rollins caught up to Braun Strowman backstage and told him that if it were up to him, Braun would get the first shot at the Universal Championship. Seth suggested that they team up tonight and face Gallows and Anderson for the RAW Tag Team Championships.

Samoa Joe Advanced In The King Of The Ring Tournament

Samoa Joe faced Cesaro in the first round of the King of the Ring Tournament. Cesaro absolutely leveled Joe with an uppercut to the face to start off the match. Samoa Joe battled back and sent Cesaro over the barricade and into the crowd as RAW went to a commercial break.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1163621454073729024?s=20

When RAW returned, Joe was still in control and connected with a Clothesline. Joe went for a Senton but Cesaro got out of the way. Cesaro hit an uppercut and made his way to the top rope. Cesaro hit Joe with a Crossbody for a near fall.

Joe planted Cesaro with a Uranage and followed it up with a Senton for a two count. Cesaro somehow was able to get Joe in the swing and then transitioned into a Sharpshooter. Joe broke free and applied the Coquina Clutch in the middle of the ring for the submission victory.

The Revival & Randy Orton Brutally Attacked New Day

New Day faced The Revival once again on tonight but Randy Orton interfered and hit him Big E an RKO. WWE Champion Kofi Kingston rushed down to the ring to try and make the save but Orton connected with an RKO. Orton went for another one but Woods attacked Orton from behind.

The Revival lifted Woods in the air and Orton planted Xavier with an RKO. Dawson held Woods knee up as Wilder climbed to the middle rope. Orton brought Kofi over and forced him to watch as Wilder stomped on Woods’ knee. Orton, Wilder, and Dawson posed in the ring as Kofi checked on Woods.

I’m all for a stable with Orton and The Revival. I’m also glad that this match didn’t last long because I feel like The Revival face New Day every other week.

Sasha Banks Attacked Natalya Again

Sasha-Banks-Raw

Sasha Banks was interviewed by Michael Cole and boasted about her blue hair being all over social media. Banks said that she looks good and feels even better.

Cole said that nobody was talking about her blue hair, they are talking about her attacks on Natalya and Becky Lynch last week. Cole then asked Banks to explain why she decided to come back and attack Natalya on last week’s episode of RAW.

Sasha smirked and leaned towards the camera. Banks simply said “you’re welcome” before leaving.

Natalya was later interviewed backstage but was attacked by Banks once again. Sasha told Natalya to go to hell and to tell her father that she said hi when she gets there.

Cedric Alexander Advanced In The King Of The Ring Tournament

Cedric Alexander

Sami Zayn battled Cedric Alexander in the first round of the King of the Ring tournament. Zayn controlled the match early and applied a Headlock in the middle of the ring.

Cedric Alexander broke free and sent Sami to the outside. Alexander connected with a Suicide Dive and brought Zayn back into the ring. Alexander hit the Lumbar Check to advance in the King of the Ring Tournament.

Sami Zayn is being wasted on RAW. When he is even on the card, his matches aren’t given enough time. Alexander and Zayn could have put on a solid match tonight and Alexander would have looked better for it. Instead, we get a completely forgettable match that lasted two minutes.

Rollins & Strowman Are The New RAW Tag Team Champions

Strowman and Rollins had another conversation backstage. Rollins caught Strowman staring at the Universal Championship and told them that he needs to focus on the RAW Tag Team Championships tonight. Seth suggested that Strowman follow his lead tonight so that they could win. Strowman told Rollins that he was focused and that Seth needs to follow his lead tonight.

Gallows and Anderson defended their RAW Tag Team Championships against Strowman and Rollins in the main event of this week’s RAW. Gallows and Anderson started off in control and isolated Rollins in the corner. Seth battled back with a few chops to Anderson’s chest and then a Clothesline.

The O.C. controlled the next several minutes and trapped Rollins in the ring. Strowman started trash talking with Styles outside the ring and Gallows capitalized by shoving him into the ring post. Rollins took out Gallows and planted Anderson with the Falcon Arrow for a two count.

Gallows and Anderson beat Rollins down again as Strowman was still down. Strowman got up and leveled AJ with a shoulder tackle and then tagged in. Braun hit Anderson with a shoulder tackle and followed it up with a Splash in the corner. Strowman hit Anderson with the Running Powerslam as Rollins hit Styles with The Stomp. Braun covered Anderson for the victory and Strowman & Rollins are the new RAW Tag Team Champions.

I absolutely hated this. Once again, tag team championships are being used to set up an eventual feud for a singles championship. Why did The O.C. need to drop the RAW Tag Team Championships if this is just going to lead to Rollins versus Strowman for the Universal Championship? It seemed like the majority of people on social media were somehow shocked by this. I don’t understand how that could be possible, it has been obvious for years that WWE doesn’t care about tag team wrestling, male or female. Tonight was yet another example of that. Overall, this week’s episode of RAW was terrible. The only positive was Vic Joseph on commentary for the last two hours.

Jerry Lawler Says Sasha Banks Reminds Him Of WWE Legend

Ahead of his King’s Court segment featuring the former Women’s Champion Sasha Banks on this week’s Raw, WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler talked to Sports Illustrated and revealed his thoughts on the boss.

Sasha made her surprise return to WWE programming during last week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. While she initially acted as a babyface, it didn’t take long for the former Champion to change her colors and become a heel.

Lawler first discussed how Banks being flamboyant and arrogant has contributed to her success and the wrestling veteran then went on to compare her with the WWE legend Randy Savage:

“Sasha Banks reminds me a lot of Randy Savage, they both share that unwavering tunnel vision, dead set on success, and not intimidated by anything or anyone because their goal is to get to the top.

Though later, Jerry also admitted that he doesn’t think Banks wants to be compared with anyone and he said that she wants to be remembered as the first-ever Sasha Banks.

Sasha Banks returned to WWE TV last week during a segment on the show. She first consoled an emotional Natalya who was remembering her father but the Boss then turned heel and attacked the Canadian Star.

Becky Lynch tried to make the save but she was also taken down by Sasha and it looks like the two will be feuding over the Raw Women’s Championship in upcoming times.

Braun Strowman & Seth Rollins Win WWE RAW Tag Team Titles

The reign of WWE RAW Tag Team Champions for Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows didn’t last long as Seth Rollins and Braun Strowman put an end to it.

During Monday’s episode of RAW, in St Paul, Minnesota at the Xcel Energy Center, Rollins and Strowman beat The OC to win the tag team titles. This match served as the headliner of the show.

The finish saw Strowman hit his powerslam finisher to Anderson while Rollins connected with The Stomp to Gallows.

WWE RAW Results & Live Coverage (8/19)

This unlikely partnership is likely heading towards a match between the two stars.

It’s been reported that Rollins and Strowman are set to have a match with Rollins defending his Universal Title against “The Monster Among Men” at the next WWE PPV.

WWE presents the Clash of Champions pay-per-view event on in that will air on the WWE Network. As of this writing, WWE has yet to officially announce any matches for the show.

Anderson & Gallows beat The Usos and Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder in a Triple Threat Match to win the WWE RAW Tag Team Titles back on the July 29th episode of RAW in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Kevin Owens On Participating In The King Of The Ring

WWE recently confirmed the return of the King Of The Ring tournament, and at least one of the announced participants in Kevin Owens is thrilled about it.

Owens recently had an interview with Sporting News where he talked about his feud with Shane McMahon continuing after SummerSlam, using Stone Cold’s stunner and more.

While talking about the upcoming tournament, Kevin revealed that he has always been a fan of it because many guys like Triple H and Stone Cold Steve Austin have went on to become big stars after winning it.

The former Universal Champion then discussed his participation in the upcoming tournament. He said that he is excited to be in it and the former NXT champion recalled his participation in other tournaments during his time in the independent circuit:

“I’m really excited to be in it. I’m excited that it’s back. In a way, it’s cool because I remember when I was on the independent scene and I’d get to the Battle of Los Angeles in PWG, that was like our own little version of King of the Ring, for me. Now I get to be in the actual thing, so that’s pretty great.”

WWE announced the return of King Of The Ring last week and the company recently also released the brackets for the same featuring stars from both Raw and SmackDown roster.

The tournament is expected to be conducted on both the shows in the next few weeks with the finals taking place at the upcoming Clash Of Champions PPV.

The October 4th show takes place from the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, California. This marks the debut episode of SmackDown on the network as the show will start airing it on Friday nights.
