Sheamus Talks About Becky Lynch’s Success, His Role In WWE Hiring Her

WWE Superstar Sheamus recently spoke with Express.co.uk. During their conversation, the former United States and WWE Champion opened up about his role in Becky Lynch getting hired by WWE. He also addressed her rise to the top as ‘The Man.’

“I actually talked to Becky, I had a conversation before her tryout,” Sheamus recalled. “I think I got her in touch with whoever it was, I got her in touch with the right people. I just made a connection, she did it all herself. Sometimes things can get misconstrued or whatever, like I got her in WWE … That’s not true at all, but I gave her the information and passed it on until she got the opportunity. She did it, she took it.”

“That Was Just Her”

When it comes to Becky Lynch’s rise through the ranks to competing in the first-ever women’s main event at WrestleMania, Sheamus believes the success is well-deserved. He said he always knew she was a phenomenal talent who was very good at making the most of every situation and opportunity.

“When that Becky Lynch revolution started, the whole ‘The Man’ thing, that was just her,” he explained. “They weren’t doing anything with her but on Twitter, on social media, she just vented, she said what she wanted to say and it just started picking up steam.”

He continued, “She’s a really good friend of mine and we’ve always had conversations; she asks me advice, I ask her sometimes. I think it’s phenomenal, I think it’s well-deserved, I think she’s very, very smart [and] a very intelligent person. She knows exactly what she’s doing and she can back it up in the ring, so she deserves everything she gets.”

Sheamus has been missing from in-ring action for some time since sustaining an injury in April. He has vocalised his ambitions of winning the Intercontinental Championship upon his return. If he did, he would become a WWE Grand Slam Champion.

Kane Recalls Being Nervous During His WWE Debut

The WWE debut of Kane during the Badd Blood PPV is one of the most iconic moments of not only the Attitude Era but the history of WWE as well.

The latest WWE Untold episode dubbed That’s Gotta Be Kane! focuses on the Big Red Monster and in the episode of the Network exclusive series, Kane talks about his career in the company in detail.

The company recently published a sneak peek of the episode on their YouTube channel and in the video; the former World Champion recalled how nervous he was during his first appearance as the brother of Undertaker:

“I was really nervous. Because this was my big break and also this is The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels and I didn’t want to mess it up. That was the first time, when I walked through the curtain, was the first time I had ever heard Kane’s music. “

Glenn Jacobs, the man behind the persona had tested a number of gimmicks in his early years of WWE which include private dentist Isaac Yankem and fake Diesel.

He finally made his debut as Kane during the first-ever Hell In a Cell match between Undertaker and Shawn Michaels at Badd Blood: In Your House PPV in October 1997.

Jacobs cost Undertaker the match after delivering a Tombstone Piledriver to the Phenom and since then, Kane has gone on to have a successful career in WWE. He has won over a dozen championships in the promotion and is considered a legend among wrestling fans.

NXT Star Shares Recovery Update, Ric Flair Backstage At SmackDown (Video)

NXT Star Karen Q underwent surgery to repair fractured lateral malleolus back in July. The news was broken by her boyfriend and she has been out of action ever since.

The NXT Star provided some update on her recovery recently. She revealed that she has reached a post-surgery milestone and allowed to ride a bike for the first time since her operation:

Karen Q suffered the injury while working at a WWE Live Event from GA Theatre in Atlanta. She had teamed up with Bianca Belair at the show and the duo lost a tag team match to the team of Rhea Ripley and Reina Gonzalez.

Ric Flair Backstage At SmackDown

Ric Flair made a brief appearance at this week’s episode of SmackDown Live. He was seen meeting his daughter Charlotte in a backstage segment and the nature boy gave her a pep talk during the show.

The show also saw rapper Offset making an appearance in the ‘Nature Boy’ robe. He wore it while making his way to the ring and went on to introduce Charlotte for her match against Sasha Banks on the SmackDown episode.

Shawn Michaels On What Drew Him Out Of Retirement for WWE Crown Jewel

After years of being committed to his decision of not returning to the ring, Shawn Michaels finally came back for one final match at the Crown Jewel event last year.

During a recent interview with State Of Combat Podcast, the former World Champion talked about a number of things and he also revealed the most important reason he chose to do that match.

The Heart Break Kid said that the most important thing about his return was being out there with his best friend Triple H, and it’s the biggest reason he agreed to the match:

“The most important thing to me was being in there with Hunter, more than any reason at all, that is why I did it. As silly as it sounds, I am so fortunate to have the last ride with your best friend in the sunset, which is what I wanted to do with him.”

According to Michaels, he was pretty certain about this but he has always been a bit concerned about saying it out loud in fear that it was the one time he can’t.

Shawn Michaels retired from active competition after he put his career on the line against the Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI and lost the bout.

He returned to the ring for one more match at the Crown Jewel event on November 2018. He teamed up with Triple H to face the Brothers of Destruction at the show and the duo was able to defeat Undertaker and Kane in this bout.

Triple H On Talents’ Reaction To The News Of NXT’s TV Deal

WWE Executive Vice President Triple H recently talked to State Of Combat Podcast in light of NXT’s debut on USA Network, where he discussed a number of things.

The move to USA Network is a big news for all NXT stars as it will give them a bigger stage to showcase their talent and help them reach a much wider audience compared to their previous home at the WWE Network.

Revealing how the talent felt about the news of the show moving to TV, Triple H said that they are thrilled. He explained that they are excited about being on live TV and nervous about it as well:

“The talent are thrilled and in some ways. It’s one of those things where you’re like, ‘Oh my God, this is so awesome! We are going to be on cable TV, live every week for two hours.’ And then they go, ‘Oh my God, we are going to be live on cable TV for two hours!'”

Though H went on to say that the reality begins to sink in with time and the NXT stars are chomping at the bits to show who they are and what they can do.

The Game also explained how NXT will be the third brand of WWE and said that talents from all three brands of the company will be able to go back and forth among the shows.

He detailed his comments saying that talents who have been on Raw and SmackDown for years can come to NXT to revamp their characters. They can work in an environment with a different vibe to reinvent themselves.

Dustin Rhodes On Being The AEW Promo Coach

Former WWE and current AEW Star Dustin Rhodes recently had an interview with Bleacher Report where he spoke openly about his role in the newly established wrestling company.

Dusty Rhodes, the father of Dustin Rhodes is credited by a lot of current and former NXT Stars as the one who helped them develop their character and improve their mic skills to a great extent.

Now Dustin will be following the footsteps of his dad as the AEW promo coach and according to him, the wrestlers will not have to memorize anything word for word:

“I’ve been hired as a promo coach, and I want to help teach them how to talk, you don’t have to take this gigantic paragraph of text and memorize that s–t word for word, because it’s going to come off bland and not true to your character.”

Rhodes went on to say that they will work out who the character of the person is and try to find a happy medium between where the company wants the stars to go and where the stars want to go themselves.

According to Dustin, the ones he is going to push the most are the ones who have never done promo and who are nervous about being on TV.

Apart from this, Dustin Rhodes also discussed how they will have time to tell stories on their TV show and they won’t be stuck doing 4 minutes television matches. You can read his full interview at this link.

The company has announced that Rey Mysterio, Ricochet, AJ Styles, Shinsuke Nakamura, and Robert Roode will all be going against each other at the upcoming episode of the show.

The winner will then go on to challenge Seth Rollins for his Universal Championship at the season premiere episode of the show on September 30th.

Though this is not the only match announced for Raw and the company has confirmed a number of more bouts and segments for this Monday’s episode of the Red Branded Show.

The matches include a first time ever match between Sasha Banks and Nikki Cross and the rematch between Chad Gable and Baron Corbin from the King Of The Ring finals.

Apart from this, WWE has also announced that a new episode of Firefly Fun House will debut on Raw and we can only imagine that it will help further the storyline between Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins.

Bray Wyatt is currently scheduled to face Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at the upcoming Hell In A Cell Pay-Per-View from the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California on October 6.

New Episode Of FireFly Fun House Set For RAW

WWE has announced there will be a new episode of Bray Wyatt’s FireFly Fun House on RAW Monday night. The show will emanate from San Fransisco’s Chase Center. There are two weeks of RAW left before Wyatt challenges Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship at Hell in a Cell on October 6th.

“Wyatt returns with an all new edition of “Firefly Fun House.” Will Huskus the Pig Boy or Mercy Buzzard calm their friend’s nerves or will “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt have a new warning for The Beastslayer? Look for possible clues on a new edition of “Firefly Fun House,” a WWE press release for the segment reads.

The only other segment announced for the show thus far will be Sasha Banks in single’s action against Nikki Cross.

Bray Wyatt’s Fiend Wrestles At WWE Live Events

Wyatt has wrestled Seth Rollins the last two nights on WWE house shows. On both events in Calgary and Edmonton, Wyatt was disqualified. The following video of the Fiend in action against Seth Rollins from Calgary was uploaded to YouTube:

“With each of their respective partners in their corner, can Cross pick up the biggest singles win of her career or will The Boss make yet another bold statement en route to her Raw Women’s Championship Match against Becky Lynch inside Hell in a Cell on Oct.6?” a WWE press release for the match reads.

Sasha Banks vs Nikki Cross

Monday’s match between Cross and Banks will be the first time the two have met in single’s action. They’ve met twice previously in tag-team action, however. Sasha Banks and Bayley defeated the team of Nikki Cross and Alicia Fox in February to qualify for the women’s tag-team title match at Elimination Chamber. Cross and Banks were on opposing sides of another tag team match on RAW earlier this month as well when Banks and Bayley defeated Nikki Cross and Alexa Bliss.

Bret Hart & Natalya Reflect On WWE’s Return To Calgary

WWE presented a live event in Calgary, Alberta, Canada last night. The city has a long history with pro wrestling and WWE dating back to Stu Hart’s Stampede Wrestling promotion. WWE purchased the rights to the territory in the mid-80s, though some Hart family members have attempted to relaunch it over the years.

Natalya was on the card last night and her uncle Bret Hart was in attendance as well. WWE posted the following interview with the Hitman to their social media:

WWE correspondents also caught up with Natalya and got her thoughts on WWE’s return to her home city:

WWE superstar Lacey Evans was also in Alberta for the show. She received a speeding citation while in Calgary and posted her interaction with the police officer to her social media:

Earlier on her trip, Evans was not pleased to learn that Calgary was home of the Hart family.

Calgary’s Lance Storm was also in attendance for the show. Storm recently announced the pending closing of his Storm Wrestling Academy. He has suggested that he will be going on the road with a promotion in the future as his next role in wrestling.

Kylie Rae Returns To Wrestling (Video)

After requesting and being granted her release from All Elite Wrestling earlier this summer, Kylie Rae returned to wrestling last night. She performed on a Freelance Wrestling show in Chicago as a last-minute replacement for Shotzi Blackheart. It was her first match since June.

Just hours before the event, Freelance Wrestling posted on their Twitter account that Kylie would be Blackheart’s replacement on the card:

Video of Kylie’s ring entrance was posted online by fans in attendance:

Kylie Rae Returns To Wrestling

AEW President Tony Khan confirmed after All Out that Kylie had requested and been granted her release. It is not known at this time what led to her requesting her release from the promotion. She deleted her Twitter account and has not posted to Instagram since July. Her only match as an official member of the AEW roster was at Double or Nothing in the fatal 4-way match won by Britt Baker.

“She is no longer with us,” Khan said at the All Out post-event media scrum. “She asked for her release and we granted it, she called me and asked if she could be released from her contract, it was pretty simple. I said ‘Yeah’ and asked if everything was okay. She said, ‘Yeah,’ and didn’t want to be with the company anymore.”

Jay White Wins IWGP Intercontinental Championship At NJPW Destruction In Kobe

Bullet Club leader Jay White has claimed the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. White defeated Los Ingobernables de Japon’s Tetsuya Naito during New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Destruction in Kobe main event.

Since debuting for the promotion in 2017, ‘Switchblade’ Jay White has held the IWGP United States Championship, the IWGP Heavyweight Championship and now the IWGP Intercontinental Championship. His win over Naito also continues the streak of unsuccessful IWGP Intercontinental Championship defenses at NJPW’s Destruction in Kobe event.

After his victory, White would get on the microphone to gloat about his victory, listing out every member of Bullet Club in the manner that Naito speaks about his LIJ stablemates. He would be interrupted by CHAOS member Hirooki Goto.

Leaving the ring, the ‘Switchblade’ was clear in his opinion, stating that Goto is beneath him and undeserving of a championship opportunity. It’s worth noting that Goto holds a victory over Jay White during the G1 Climax tournament this past summer.

During the post-match interview, Jay White listed some of New Japan’s most notable wrestlers as people he has defeated including Naito, Hiroshi Tanahashi and Kazuchika Okada. He then listed a few opponents that he feels he will be meeting soon including LIJ’s SANADA and EVIL, as well as Kota Ibushi and the IWGP Heavyweight Champion, Okada. He once again stressed that Goto was beneath him and not worth his time.

Kurt Angle Reflects On When He Realized It Was Time To Retire

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle took part in a Q&A session on his Facebook page where he took questions from fans.

Right off the bat, Angle was asked about when he realized it was time to retire from in-ring competition and what was going through his mind emotionally.

“I knew I was ready to retire because I felt my body moving slower and I had a lot of joint pain. I was ok until I turned 48. Because I was GM of Raw, I was less active in the past 2 years. That inactivity caught up with me. I started getting arthritis throughout my body. It was quite sad. I was invincible for so many years. It was tough to deal with. But I’m ok with it now.”

Kurt Angle On Similarities Between AEW And TNA

Angle lost his farewell match and ended his run as an active in-ring performer to Baron Corbin at the WrestleMania 35 pay-per-view event in East Rutherford, NJ at MetLife Stadium.

Since then, he has worked as an agent for the company.

Angle was also asked who he would rather have wrestled – Bret Hart or Owen Hart. This is noted that he had the chance to wrestle Owen and loved working with him. While he always hoped to step in the ring with Bret, it never happened.

He ended his answer by praising them by calling both stars incredible wrestlers.

The Young Bucks On If They Watched NXT’s Premiere On USA Network

With NXT premiering this past week on USA Network and All Elite Wrestling (AEW) gearing up for their debut on TNT on October 2nd, some might wonder how closely the two promotions are monitoring one another.

In an interview with talkSPORT, Matt and Nick Jackson spoke about NXT’s debut as well as Triple H’s recent comments regarding NXT’s roster.

Nick admitted that he watched some of the premiere because of the people he knows in the promotion, calling it a “fun show.”

“Matt and I, we have a lot of friends there. Candice LeRae, we have a history with so I was happy for her,” Nick said. “She was in the first match in the four-way and she did great, so I was happy for her.”

Regarding the shows going head-to-head, his brother Matt added, “I’m rooting for them, though. I want them to have a good show. Ours is just going to be better.”

The Young Bucks then turned their attention to a previous interview with Triple H. During that interview,’ The Game’ shared that he wouldn’t want to trade anyone on his NXT roster for anyone else in the world. The Jackson brothers found this statement funny because, as Nick puts it “Like, come on…we know you wanted us.”

Matt then said, “A year ago you were trying to get us all [in The Elite]! A year ago you were trying to get every one of us to come and work for you, so, that’s cool. You can say whatever. Don’t act like there was no interest in us and you wouldn’t trade for us because I know for a fact, you would.”

The Young Bucks are scheduled to face off against Private Party in the AEW Tag Team Tournament on October 9th.

Cedric Alexander Names His Wrestling Inspirations Growing Up

Cedric Alexander has been enjoying a rush of momentum since moving to RAW from 205 Live. The Superstar has managed to wrestle matches against some of WWE’s top Superstars. Turns out that some of his recent opponents are wrestlers he admired growing up, including AJ Styles.

Speaking with SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio ahead of his match against AJ at Clash of Champions, Alexander listed the wrestlers that have inspired him.

“AJ Styles was one of them,” Alexander explained. “I loved Eddie Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, Rob Van Dam, I was a big fan of any of the big, flashy high flyers. They had that high flying, high intensity, and high impact style.”

He also added Chris Benoit and Mark Henry to the list, but admitted that he usually gravitated towards the cruiserweight style.

Looking to the future beyond WWE and pro wrestling, Alexander reflected on his time training in amateur wrestling. He confessed that he wouldn’t mind becoming a high school wrestling coach once he has retired.

Cedric Alexander recently faced AJ Styles for the WWE United States Championship at WWE’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view. He was unsuccessful in his attempt to claim the gold from Styles that night.

She confessed she was excited to be there, calling the festival a “wonderful cause.” When it comes to making a difference, Lynch explained how WWE is a global entity that tells stories everybody can relate to.

She added “There’s absolutely nothing greater than Global Citizen and trying to end world poverty and try and create equality for everyone on the planet and end gender inequality. It’s incredible.”

“Give us the opportunity — give everyone equal opportunity — and let’s see what happens there,” she said. “I’m not asking for a free ride or anything like that. It’s about earning your spot and I think that people don’t need to be held down because of gender, race, where they come from. It’s all about proving your worth as a human and being allowed to be treated as such.”

Becky Lynch is scheduled to defend her RAW Women’s Championship against Sasha Banks at WWE’s pay-per-view Hell in a Cell. The event takes place on October 6th at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento, California.

She then recalled how she hadn’t put on her wrestling gear in a long time. The Raw Star was trying to fix a wig on the top of another wig and figuring everything out was crazy.

Sasha Banks also visited the performance center in preparation of her return and during her time at the PC she remembered how Dusty Rhodes supported ‘The Boss’ character.
