5 Takeaways From WWE RAW (12/16)

The December 16th, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines, IA. Here are 5 takeaways from the show:

Lana Gave Lashley Permission To Marry Her

Bobby Lashley and Lana came down to the ring with smiles on their faces. Lana interfered in the match last night and it allows Lashley to slam Rusev through a table for the victory.

Lana promoted her Instagram and rolled footage from last night’s match. Lana announced Lashley as last night’s winner and said that nobody in the crowd will ever be as good as him.

Lana told Lashley that he was beautiful and a “Rusev Day!” chant broke out. She claimed that Rusev Day is dead and the crowd started chanting “we want Rusev!”. Lana told the crowd that they suck and pulled out an engagement ring.

She asked Bobby to ask her to marry him. Lashley said that he doesn’t like when anyone tells him what to do, except her and then got on his knee. Lashley called Lana the most beautiful girl in the world and the most amazing female wrestler in history. Bobby then proposed and Lana accepted. Lana added that it is going to be the most amazing wedding ever and it will happen on Lana Day.

Andrade Brutally Attacked Humberto Carrillo

Andrade WWE

Akira Tozawa, R-Truth, Ricochet, Andrade, Matt Hardy, and Humberto Carrillo battled in a Gauntlet Match. The winner of the match earned a shot at the United States Championship. Akira Tozawa quickly rolled up R-Truth and then faced Ricochet.

Ricochet eliminated Tozawa after connecting with the Recoil to advance in the Gauntlet Match. Matt Hardy was the next superstar and made his way to the ring as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Matt Hardy was in control and bounced Ricochet’s face off the turnbuckle several times as United States Champion Rey Mysterio looked on from backstage. Matt planted Ricochet with a Powerbomb and went for a cover but Ricochet was able to kick out at the last moment.

Hardy connected with the Side Effect for another two count and made his way up to the top rope. Matt went for a Moonsault but Ricochet got out of the way and Hardy crashed to the canvas. Ricochet hit a Shooting Star Press for a near fall and then made his way to the top rope. Hardy got out of the way and went for Twist of Fate but Ricochet rolled him up for the elimination.

Humberto Carrillo was the next superstar in the match. Carrillo dominated early but Ricochet battled back and rolled up Humberto for a two count. Zelina Vega came down to the entrance ramp as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Ricochet was beating Humberto down in the corner as Zelina watched from the ramp.

Ricochet connected with a standing Shooting Star Press for a near fall. Ricochet followed it up with an Enziguri and a Crossbody that knocked both superstars out of the ring. Back in the ring, Ricochet planted Humberto with a Superplex and both superstars were down on the canvas.

Carrillo connected with an Enziguri and perched Ricochet up on the top turnbuckle. Humberto went for a reverse Hurricanrana but Ricochet landed on his feet. Carrillo slammed Ricochet to the mat and hit a Moonsault for the victory. Humberto then battled Andrade in the final bout of the Gauntlet Match.

Andrade hit Double Knees and then ripped up the padding on the floor outside the ring to expose the concrete. Andrade planted Carrillo with a DDT on the concrete and retreated through the crowd as Rey came to check on Humberto.

Rollins & AOP Beat Mysterio Down

Seth Rollins and AOP kicked off this week’s episode of RAW. Rollins claimed that he was a leader and that he is a visionary. Seth stated that he is going to be the man that leads this company into the next decade and beyond. Rollins vowed to impose his will and if anyone resists, the AOP will enforce his will. Rollins added that he has to settle a score tonight and the crowd is not going to like it. Seth apologized for what he had to do tonight before exiting the ring.

After the Gauntlet Match, AOP and Rollins came down to the ring with the steel pipe. Akam and Rezar beat Mysterio down and Rollins placed the pipe next to Rey. Mysterio tried to grab the steel pipe but AOP blocked him and punched him in the face.

Seth told Mysterio that it didn’t have to be this way but Rey gave the steel pipe to Kevin Owens last week. Rollins said that he is a merciful leader and that tonight is his lucky night. Seth told Rey that he owed him one and made it seem like he was going to leave the ring. Seth planted Rey with the Curb Stomp before leaving the ring.

Seth Rollins was interviewed backstage and said that he settle score tonight. Rollins added that it was time to establish dominance and challenged Mysterio to a match for the United States Championship next week on RAW. Rey Mysterio accepted the challenge during a backstage promo later on the show.

I enjoyed the Gauntlet Match but it sucked that we didn’t get a finish to the match. Rollins and AOP have become the most interesting part of RAW and the United States Championship Match next week should be great. It is only a matter of time before Kevin Owens returns to get his revenge.

Becky Lynch Challenged Asuka

Asuka faced NXT superstar Deonna Purrazzo tonight on RAW. Deonna hit Asuka with a boot to the face before the bell rang. Asuka dominated the match early and beat Deonna down in the corner of the ring.

Asuka hit the Hip Attack but Deonna battled back and locked in an Arm Bar in the middle of the ring. Asuka countered into an Arm Bar of her own and then transitioned to the a Knee Bar in the center of the ring.

Asuka started taunting the crowd and it allowed Deonna to escape. Purrazzo hit an elbow to the face and slammed Asuka to the mat for a near fall. Asuka battled back with a flurry of kicks and applied the Asuka Lock for the submission victory.

Becky Lynch was then interviewed backstage. Lynch claimed that she hasn’t been herself the last few months after she was placed in tag team competition. Becky said that WWE is trying to protect her because they don’t think that she can beat Asuka. Lynch pointed out that Asuka defeated her in the past and is the best in the world right now. Becky leaned into the camera and spoke directly to Asuka. Becky said she needs to face Asuka and beat her to prove something to herself.

Becky’s promo was great tonight and felt real. This feud has the potential to be great and it hopefully it culminates in an awesome match at Royal Rumble next month.

AJ followed Orton and Randy capitalized with a slam onto the ring apron. Back in the ring, Orton stomped on AJ’s ankle several times. Styles set up for the Phenomenal Forearm but Orton tripped him up. Orton went for the DDT but Styles escaped and tried to lock in the Calf Crusher.

Orton blocked it initially but AJ rolled through and locked in the Calf Crusher in the middle of the ring. Randy screamed in pain but was able to battle through and reached the bottom rope to break the hold. Orton rolled out of the ring and AJ leveled him with a chop block as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Styles was still in control and continued targeting Orton’s knee. Randy poked AJ in the eye and retreated to the corner of the ring. Orton bounced AJ’s face off the top turnbuckle and bought himself some more time to regroup.

Randy hit a punch to the face but Styles caught him with another boot to the knee. Orton planted Styles with a Powerslam and both superstars fell to the canvas. Orton connected with a Backbreaker and went for the cover but Styles kicked out at one. Randy took a bit to apply the cover as he was selling a knee injury.

The crowd chanted “RKO!” as Randy battled to his feet. Orton slapped his knee a couple times and perched AJ on the top turnbuckle. AJ escaped and smashed Orton’s head into the turnbuckle. Styles once again hit Orton with a chop block and he collapsed to the mat.

Styles hit a Moonsault and went for the cover but Orton was able to kick out at the last second. Orton caught AJ in the ropes and planted him with the DDT. Orton geared up for the RKO but Styles dodged it and locked in the Calf Crusher once again. Orton booted AJ away and sent him to the apron. AJ went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Orton countered into the RKO for the pinfall victory. After the match, The OC attacked Orton but the Viking Raiders made the save. The OC beat them down and planted Erik on the mat. The OC then posed in the ring to end the show.

This week’s RAW was a mixed bag. The Gauntlet Match was solid but the lack of a finish to the match made it feel like a waste of time. The main event, Becky’s promo, and the segments with Rollins & AOP were the highlights of the show.

Ric Flair Reveals Vince McMahon Nixed Spot At Crown Jewel

WWE teased a physical confrontation between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan before October’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view. The angle never took place, presumably because WWE wanted to play it safe as it relates to the health of the two legends.

However, during a recent interview with WrestlingInc, Ric Flair revealed that he was in fact cleared for physical activity at the event, but the angle was nixed.

The 16 Time World Champion claimed that it was Vince McMahon who nixed the angle and explained that sometimes if you are not physically involved, you feel like you are not giving everything you have:

“I got cleared medically to do something in Saudi and then Vince nixed it,” Ric Flair revealed. “If I would have fed Roman in that huge comeback he made, or tapped Hogan, that would have been the coup de gras.”

You just wanna give them everything they paid for and sometimes if you’re not physically involved, you feel like you’re not giving everything you had if you’re not physical.”

After this revelation, Ric Flair was asked if getting cleared means that he can actually wrestle a match. Flair said yes, but said his days in the ring are over. Due to his age, and health complications, it would take him a long time to get in ring shape. At this stage, he would be happy to simply take a bump or two.

Kairi Sane Injury Update

An update on Kairi Sane has surfaced online.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors made their latest title defense against RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event and the champs went over.

After the show, the concern that Sane may have suffered a potential concussion during the contest started to go around.

It has been confirmed that Sane did suffer an injury but the exact type isn’t known. What is known is the fact that Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet reported on Monday evening that Sane is not cleared to wrestle.

According to the report, Sane seemed to have been knocked out in the first few minutes of the match. This is why it looked like she was out of it during parts of the match.

Satin added that Sane was checked out by doctors after the show. This is where it was noted that it had been determined she’s not cleared to wrestle at this time.

The Kabuki Warriors Win First-Ever Women’s Tag Team TLC Match

Sane did share a minor update on her own by tweeting a thumbs up to indicate she’s doing okay.

Dave Meltzer reported on F4Wonline that it’s “pretty much universally agreed” the situation with Sane was handled poorly. According to the report, the feeling is a doctor should have been sent out during the main event, with the power to stop the match if needed.

There’s also the feeling the match should’ve gone straight to the finish or taken Sane to the back with Asuka left to work a Handicap Match.

The main issue with a direction change like that was that they weren’t doing a title change, according to the report. Asuka defeating both challengers by herself would have required many changes in plans.

Vince McMahon & Triple H Absent From WWE TLC

It turns out that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and Triple H were not backstage at the final pay-per-view event of 2019, TLC.  The news comes courtesy of John Pollock of POST Wrestling.

It was also noted that they did check in with the WWE official in charge in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center.  As of this writing, there’s no word yet on why they were not at the show or who ran TLC. It’s likely that the person who ran the show had more contact with Vince or Triple H during the show.

It’s also not known if McMahon and Triple H are at Monday’s episode of RAW in Des Moines, IA at the Wells Fargo Arena.

It’s no secret that the schedules for Triple H and McMahon have become busier in recent months. Triple H is in charge of the WWE NXT brand and the show has evolved as it was moved to live weekly TV on the USA Network back in September. McMahon’s schedule is also busier as he prepares for the XFL re-launch in early 2020.

McMahon and Triple H have missed a few shows this year due to their NXT and XFL projects.

Big E Calls Kevin Owens/’Big O’ Angle ‘Disrespectful’

WWE Superstar and New Day member Big E recently discussed the Kevin Owens/’Big O’ angle that took place on WWE television earlier this year. Big E’s comments were part of the latest episode of The New Day: Feel The Power podcast available via WWE and Endeavour audio.

Kevin Owens and The New Day

Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens made his return from injury back during WrestleMania season. There had been reports that Owens was due to face Daniel Bryan at ‘Mania, however the swell of support for Kofi Kingston meant that plans were changed late in the day. In April Kevin Owens ‘joined’ The New Day whilst Big E was rehabbing an injury. Kevin Owens brutally attacked Kingston and Xavier Woods, turning heel on the April 23rd episode of SmackDown Live and starting a feud with Kingston over the WWE Championship.

Big O

During the latest episode of New Day’s official WWE podcast, Big E talked about Kevin Owens joining the stable and how he felt whilst on the sidelines. “I’m in the bed just as I’ve had my surgery and I turn on the TV. And, I know you guys [Kofi and Xavier] have to do what you’ve got to do. But I see you two and there’s ‘Big O’ Kevin Owens doing MY intro that I came up with and doing my tag move with you.”

“Laugh it Off”

Big E elaborated further, saying “I get it, I just suck it up and be a man and like laugh it off but it feels like a slap in the face to see someone in your position and just doing this. I felt disrespected. I obviously know you guys [Kofi and Xavier] didn’t come up with it so there’s no issue with you. But from a larger picture just that you’re alone in a hospital room, briefly, but I was alone and I was there and just everything goes on without you and you just move on and does anyone care? Does it even matter? And you feel very alone in this situation.”

Xavier Woods Injury’s Has “Shaken” Him To His “Core”

The New Day’s official WWE podcast third episode was released today on all major Podcasting networks. New Day member Xavier Woods took the opportunity to address his Achilles tendon injury that he sustained earlier this year in Sydney, Australia. Woods revealed the physical and emotional toll that the injury has taken on his body and the length of time he is expected to be out of action.

“I am currently dealing with one that is pretty serious”

“Today we’ll talk about something a little bit more serious we’re gonna talk about injuries. We’re gonna kick it off talking about mine actually to begin with” Woods started. “I am currently dealing with one that is pretty serious. I know that we’re we’re all laughey jokey happy clap your hands stuff all the time. So you don’t really get to see a range of motion from us on television. But this is something for me that is hard to talk about.”

Xavier Woods – “It compounded a disk in my neck…”

Woods then told a story from his time in FCW, where he sustained a horrific head and neck injury. “I’ve been in wrestling professionally/training since I was seventeen, I’m thirty three now. The longest I’ve ever been out was three months and that was when I was in developmental in FCW. The whole roster would have shows all over the place. And at one point I end up getting clotheslined in the top of my head.”

“there wasn’t enough blood circulating to my brain…”

“Some crazy situation, and it compounded the disk in my neck. I slept legit in my closet all day because I couldn’t do with any sunlight. LED light, like whatever and one of those nights I ended up hurting so bad that I had to get a friend to drive me to the ER. I thought I was going to die. And what ended up happening is I got pumped full of whatever they pumped me full of. That helped release the pressure on my brain. Because apparently there wasn’t enough blood circulating to my brain and my brain was over heating. If I wouldn’t have gone to the ER immediately when I did I could have had permanent brain damage. Because my brain was just three million degrees…whatever it was.”

Xavier Woods – “the thought crossed my mind that it was my Achilles…”

Xavier Woods then described how that was the toughest injury of his career before the Achilles damage sustained a few months ago. “That was like the toughest one that I dealt with until we were in Sydney Australia. First match the night I ended up doing a back flip in the beginning of the match. As soon as I landed I felt like somebody’d kicked me in the back of the foot. I realized I couldn’t push off of that foot. Immediately the thought crossed my mind that it was my Achilles.”

Xavier Woods then talked about how the injury had ‘shaken him’ to his core. “It’s kind of shaken me to my core. When you get injured it’s something that’s like ‘ah this sucks but you know I get like a like a month at home.’ When you’re coming back pretty much with a ruptured Achilles that’s been surgically repaired there’s a lot more gray area. So there’s no real time frame on when when I will come back. It’s almost a kind of scary because yeah there’s a possibility that if I do everything right and everything goes well I could be back in five months. But maybe not, maybe I’ll be back next year but maybe not. Maybe I’ll be back by like WrestleMania next year. But maybe not.”

As soon as we have an update on Woods’ condition we will update you here.

Kingston had a great 2019 with his biggest accomplishment thus far in his pro wrestling career coming at WWE’s biggest show of the year, WrestleMania 35, when he won the WWE Title.

Kingston lost the WWE Championship to Brock Lesnar in a match that lasted about 10 seconds on the premiere episode of SmackDown on FOX back on October 4th.

WWE recently announced that the Balor vs Cole title contest will open up NXT this week and the match will air commercial-free.

Cathey Kelley recently broke the news on social media:

WWE had at one point scheduled a second-set of RAW tapings in Des Moines for Tuesday but those plans have since changed.

The only match scheduled for tonight’s live airing of RAW is Randy Orton in single’s action taking on AJ Styles.

New US Title Design Coming?

According to the @BeltFanDan Twitter account which is also associated with the custom championship belt making company Belts by Dan, a new design of the United States championship belt has been delivered to WWE. Could we see a new design shown off on RAW tonight by current champion Rey Mysterio?

The current design of the title has been in use since 2014.

Mysterio is currently in the 166th reign in the title’s history which dates back to 1975. 8 title changes have occurred in 2019 alone.

WWE RAW Preview: AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton, TLC Fallout

The build towards the TLC pay-per-view is over as the show is in the books.

Thus, it’s time to look ahead starting with tonight’s episode of Monday Night RAW with a preview. There’s not a ton known about this show outside of a match announcement.

WWE has confirmed that Randy Orton vs. AJ Styles in a singles match will take place. The fallout for programs coming out of the TLC pay-per-view event will also be featured.

This will be the final live RAW of 2019. The local start time is 5:45pm ET and for good reason.

WWE will also tape another episode of RAW tonight at the arena as the matches and segments taped will air on next week’s show (December 23) as the company is giving the crew time off to spend with their families for Christmas.

Kairi Sane Possibly Injured During TLC Main Event

The following match is being locally advertised for Raw, which will likely be a dark match:

  • RAW Women’s Champion – Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair vs WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki

WWE will also be creating new programs and building on the hype for existing feuds that will take place heading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event.

As usual, fans should expect more matches and segments to be revealed this afternoon for RAW.

AEW Dynamite Headed To Atlanta & Kansas City In February

All Elite Wrestling has announced the host venues for the two episodes of AEW Dynamite leading up to the AEW Revolution pay-per-view.

The promotion announced on Monday that AEW Dynamite is heading to Atlanta, Georgia on February 19th and Kansas City, Missouri on the 26th. Tickets for both shows go on sale this Friday at AEWTix.com.

AEW Dynamite coming to Atlanta has deep significance for the company. In the video below, AEW Executive Vice President Cody Rhodes talks passionately about what it means for Atlanta to host AEW.

Cody named some of the wrestling legends who hailed from Georgia, including The Armstrongs, Arn Anderson, Ron Simmons and Ray Traylor. He talked about the history of Jim Crocket promotions and later WCW being based out of Atlanta. He boasted, “If you’re gonna do it, do it big,” he boasted, before revealing AEW Dynamite is headed to the State Farm Arena. The venue plays host to the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks and can accommodate over 21,000 fans. Cody admits it won’t be easy to fill the arena, but knows pro wrestling fans will show up to support AEW on February 19th.

AEW Hits Big Milestone

AEW announced on Monday that the company has sold over 100,000 tickets since their their first show back in May, Double or Nothing.

In just eight months, AEW has produced 16 live events resulting in 91,222 tickets sold with an average of 5,701 tickets sold per show. Another 14,081 tickets have been sold for the upcoming shows currently on sale.

AEW’s grand total ticket sales for the year is a reported 105,303.

“To think one year ago, we hadn’t yet announced the launch of AEW and our first show wouldn’t occur until late May, and today we are celebrating more than 100,000 live event tickets sold – it’s been an incredible run and a credit to our talent, our partners at TNT and our great wrestling fans for making it happen,” said Tony Khan, President and CEO of AEW. “The best part is, this is just the beginning.”

Primo Colon Addresses WWE Wellness Policy Violation

Primo Colon hasn’t wrestled for WWE since being in a dark match back in February. Despite this, he was recently suspended by WWE as part of the company’s Wellness policy. According to Primo, however, he was only suspended for not having taken the test as he didn’t want to travel from Puerto Rico just to take it.

The 37-year-old spoke to Primera Hora recently to explain what happened. His comments have been transcribed using Google Translate below:

“I was not on the road (on tour with the company), I was not scheduled for any event in the near future. I am in Puerto Rico when they call me suddenly, not to use me, but to travel for a doping test. I was ready to do it, but I told them that I was in Puerto Rico and that I was willing to go to a place (laboratory) that they chose to test me without any problem, without any discomfort. I was not going to pay for a trip to just get tested for doping,” said Primo.

“There I didn’t hear anything from the company about it and I thought they were going to call me when they found a place to do the test. Almost two months pass and I get the letter that I am suspended, according to them, because I refused to take the test. And that is not correct. They took it as I was out of the country, but I was available, ”added Colón who anticipated that he will appeal the suspension.”

“I have a contract with them until October 2020. They have the facility to call me and use me if they want. If they don’t want to use me, they still have to pay me. They are using new boys and so is the industry. It’s basically like being in the bank (without playing).”

6 Takeaways From MLW Fusion 12/14

Major League Wrestling began airing matches from the Opera Cup tournament this week on Fusion. The tournament was taped inside New York’s Melrose Ballroom on December 5th.

The full episode can be viewed in the player below:

Here are 6 takeaways from MLW Fusion 12/14:

Brian Pillman Jr. Advances To Opera Cup Semi-Finals

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1206045714612015104

In the night’s main event, Brian Pillman Jr. took on TJP in an Opera Cup opening round match. The Opera Cup trophy was on display during tournament matches on Fusion last night, the first time it has been up for grabs since Stu Hart won it in 1948.

TJP seemed to have the majority of control in this match early with Pillman only able to gain the offensive for short periods. Pillman would hit a super-kick which would turn the tide of the match, however, and then land a strong knee to the face on his opponent. He then hit his swinging neck breaker finish for the win. It’s a big win over an established veteran for the 26-year-old Pillman who moves on to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Gino Medina Drawing Interest From Konnan, Salina de la Renta

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1183196656201801729

MLW newcomer Gina Medina was backstage at Fusion this week. Cameras caught Medina speaking with Konnan in a stairwell during the show, and the two appeared to be discussing business. Their meeting ended with a handshake but no comments were issued at the time.

Later in the show, Alicia Atout was preparing to interview Salina de la Renta but the leader of Promociones Dorado caught a glimpse of Gino Medina and ditched Atout to talk business with him.

It seems the newcomer to MLW might have both Konnan and Salina competing for his services.

ACH Provides Backup For King Mo Against Injustice

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1206031194028150784

This week’s episode kicked off with the members of Injustice, Myron Reed, Kotto Brazil, and Jordan Oliver, in the ring complaining about not being included in the Opera Cup and appear to not be leaving the ring in protest. This brought out King Mo to confront the group but he wasn’t. As Injustice looked to have a 3-on-1 advantage against Mo, ACH’s music hit and he made his surprise return to the promotion and an impromptu tag match was scheduled.

The finish of the match came when ACH made the hot tag to King Mo who landed a sit-down powerbomb and then locked in the submission for the win.

MJF and Richard Holliday Give Each Other Gifts

The members of Dynasty were shown in a backstage segment this week. Richard Holliday and Maxwell Jacob Friedman then exchanged gifts. MJF got Holliday the custom made air pods. The large pods don’t seem to fit Holliday too well but he’s quite happy with the gift.

Then Holliday gave MJF his gift. A man somewhat resembling MJF but shorter and smaller walks into the shot wearing an MJF styled scarf. Holliday presents him as “Max Mini” as a gift to MJF, who did not appreciate it and Max was shoved out of the camera shot quickly.

Timothy Thatcher Beats Richard Holliday, Advances In Opera Cup Tournament

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1206040681250095104

Timothy Thatcher arrived in MLW before the SuperFight PPV looking for a fight with Tom Lawlor. He got more than he bargained for on the PPV but a strong showing in the Opera Cup will likely move him to the top of the promotion’s rankings. He started the tournament strong this week with a win over Dynasty’s Richard Holliday, who perhaps was distracted by his unfortunate gift exchange with MJF>

Holiday landed his patented “2008” finisher but Thatcher kicked out. The finish of the match came when Thatcher locked in a Fujiwara armbar and got the tap out.

Thatcher will face Pillman Jr. in the semi-finals of the tournament.

Next Week’s Fusion

Next week on Fusion, MLW continues with the Opera Cup. It was also announced during this week’s show that Tom Lawlor plans to make a huge announcement.

As the tournament continues, Davey Boy Smith Jr. has a chance to win the cup his grandfather was the last to hold. He takes on Low-Ki in the first round. It will also be an inter-Dynasty match-up as MJF takes on Alex Hammerstone in a match Richard Holliday’s lawyer/father was not able to prevent from happening.

  • Opera Cup (1st Round)
Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs Low-Ki
  • Opera Cup (1st Round)
    MJF vs Alex Hammerstone

MLW Fusion 12/14 Quick Results:

  • King Mo & ACH defeated Kotto Brazil & Jordan Oliver (Injustice) w/Myron Reed
  • Opera Cup (1st Round)
    Timothy Thatcher defeated Richard Holliday
  • Opera Cup (1st Round)
    Brian Pillman Jr. defeated TJP

Kairi Sane Possibly Injured During TLC Main Event

It appears that Kairi Sane might have been legitimately injured during the main event of Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

The match saw WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors defending the gold against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. All four women took big bumps during the bout.

Sane in particular was not moving well after a few high-impact moves. There were several spots where it looked like she was not conscious of her surroundings.

Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com provided an update on her health after the show. He revealed that she was examined by the doctors after the bout and the belief is that she suffered a concussion during the match.

It’s unknown when exactly in the match she suffered the injury. There was a spot where both Lynch and Flair were throwing monitors off of the announcers’ table and one of the pieces ended up hitting Kairi’s head. You can check out the spot below:

WWE did not officially announce Kairi Sane was injured, but did say that a medical update will be announced Monday.

We’ll keep you posted on any update on the health of Kairi Sane.

Bray Wyatt Reacts To Daniel Bryan’s Return At TLC

The TLC PPV saw Bray Wyatt defending his Universal Title against The Miz. After the match, Daniel Bryan made his return to the WWE programming with a new look and he attacked The Fiend.

After the show went off air, Wyatt reacted to the American Dragon’s return and he made the following tweet, claiming that he was excited for Bryan’s return and that no one likes a bully:

Bray Wyatt was scheduled to defend his Universal Championship against the Miz at the TLC PPV, and during the show, he came out as the sweatered version of himself usually seen in the Firefly Fun House segments rather than the Fiend.

Bray ended up defeating the A-Lister, however, he tried to attack the Miz once again with a large mallet after the match was over and this is when Daniel Bryan made his return to the WWE programming.

The former World Champion delivered his finisher to the Universal Champion and he then revealed his new clean shaved look, before continuing his attack.

Wyatt escaped this attack by leaving the ring after the lights turned off and the segment ended with Daniel standing tall in the ring. This was Daniel Bryan’s first appearance since The Fiend pulled him under the ring during a SmackDown segment a few weeks back.

6 Takeaways From WWE TLC 2019

WWE TLC 2019 aired live on December 15, 2019 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Humberto Carrillo defeated Andrade during the Kickoff Show. The Viking Raiders defended their RAW Tag Team Championships against The OC tonight as well. The Viking Raiders retained via a double count-out in a match that was nothing more than an advertisement for Kentucky Fried Chicken.

Here are 6 takeaways from the PPV:

New Day Retained The SmackDown Tag Titles

New Day defended their SmackDown Tag Team Championships against The Revival tonight at TLC. The Revival dominated the match early and beat the hell out of Kofi Kingston with a ladder. Kingston battled back and took out Wilder and Dawson with a Crossbody on top of the ladder.

Big E went for a Splash but Dash got out of the way and Big E crashed on the ladder. Kingston tried to leap onto The Revival but they got him and slammed his face into the ladder.

The Revival slammed Big E face-first onto the ladder as the crowd began to boo. Kofi battled back and slammed the ladder onto Wilder and Dawson.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1206367931858378753?s=20

Kingston made his way up the ladder but The Revival shoved the ladder. Kingston then incredibly landed on the top rope and planted Dawson with a Tornado DDT. Kofi followed it up with an SOS to Dash and made his way up the ladder again.

Dawson ripped him down and The Revival connected with a Shatter Machine. Big E hit Dash Wilder with a ridiculous Spear through the ropes and both superstars fell to the floor outside the ring.

Big E set up two giant ladders next to each other under the titles in the middle of the ring. Big E set up another ladder in the corner and made his way to the top rope. Wilder tripped Big E up and then Dawson Suplexed him on top of the ladder. Wilder followed it up with a Splash through the ladder.

Dawson started climbing and Kofi leaped out of nowhere to join him up there. The Revival trapped Kofi in between the rungs but Big E came out of nowhere to make the save. Big E hit the Big Ending on Wilder off the top of the ladder. Kingston smashed Scott Dawson in the face with the title belt and Dawson crashed onto a ladder. Kingston then grabbed the titles and New Day are still the SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

New Day and The Revival kicked off WWE TLC 2019 with an awesome Ladder Match. There were several amazing spots during this match but Kingston’s springboard Tornado DDT was the best in my opinion. The Big Ending off the ladder was pretty awesome too.

Aleister Black Defeated Buddy Murphy In A Great Match

Buddy Murphy squared off against Aleister Black tonight at TLC. Buddy mocked Aleister by taking a seat in the middle of the ring before the match. Aleister sat across from him and then went for Black Mass right when the match started. Buddy was able to avoid it and rolled out of the ring.

Back in the ring, Buddy caught Aleister in the face with his knee and blood started pouring out of Black’s nose. Buddy brought Black’s jacket into the ring and tried to throw it at him. Black ducked and the jacket went flying into Jerry Lawler’s face ringside.

Aleister connected with a Shining Wizard and went for the cover but Buddy kicked out at two. Black knocked Buddy out of the ring and connected with a Moonsault. Back in the ring, Black leveled Murphy with running knee to the face for a near fall.

Buddy Murphy hit Aleister with four Superkicks and followed it up with a Powerbomb off the second rope. Murphy went for the cover but somehow Black kicked out at two as the crowd chanted “this is awesome!”.

Murphy hit Black with a series of knees to the face and then a Brainbuster for another two count. Aleister then connected with Black Mass for the pinfall victory.

Aleister Black was busted open in the first minute but still wound up delivering a great match with Murphy. The build to this match sucked but Murphy and Black are two of the most talented workers WWE has and they were able to overcome it. I just hope WWE does something meaningful with them going forward on RAW.

King Corbin Reigned Supreme

Roman Reigns battled King Corbin in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match tonight at WWE TLC. Before the match, members of Corbin’s security team but Reigns fought them off. Corbin rushed up the ramp with a chair but Roman connected with a right hand and threw him off the stage as the crowd chanted “Roman!”.

King Corbin took control and drove Reigns into the barricade. Corbin launched Reigns into a turnbuckle and followed it up with a Clothesline for a two count. King Corbin beat down Roman for the next several minutes as the crowd became restless.

Corbin connected with a Chokeslam/Backbreaker as the crowd chanted “Burger King!”. Roman launched King Corbin into a chair in the corner of the ring and connected with a Superman Punch for a near fall.

Roman set up a table in the ring as Corbin rolled to the outside. King Corbin hit Reigns in the face with a can of dog food and Chokeslammed him through the table for a two count.

Roman Reigns planted King Corbin with a Samoan Drop through the announce table as the crowd chanted “holy sh*t!”. Roman Reigns was about to Spear Corbin through the barricade but Dolph Ziggler came out from under the ring and hit Roman with a Superman Kick.

Ziggler grabbed the handcuffs and Corbin grabbed can from the endless supply of dog food under the ring. Reigns hit Ziggler and Corbin with a Drive By before grabbing a kendo stick from under the ring. Reigns beat Corbin’s security team down with the kendo stick before The Revival interfered and attacked Reigns.

Roman took out The Revival with a couple of Superman Punches and then leaped onto everyone outside the ring. Roman set up for a Spear but Dolph launched a chair into Roman’s face. The Revival planted Roman with the Shatter Machine and Corbin followed it up with the End of Days on the chair for the pinfall victory.

I thought this was absolutely terrible. I thought part of this story line was that Roman Reigns was the locker room leader, yet nobody helped him tonight. The pace of this match was so slow and deliberate, it is embarrassing to even refer to it as a TLC Match. It was a crappy No Disqualifications Match that would have concluded a lackluster episode of SmackDown.

It looks like this feud is going to continue, even though I cannot imagine someone genuinely being excited to watch these two stink up the joint again. A backstage brawl including Roman Reigns and Corbin went down later during the show. The superstars on Reigns’ side during the fight must have all fallen asleep out of boredom during the match. That is the only way to explain why they didn’t come down to the ring and help him.

Daniel Bryan Attacked Bray Wyatt

The Miz battled Bray Wyatt tonight at WWE TLC 2019. Wyatt got an awesome reaction from the crowd and posed for them several times.

The Miz absolutely dominated the match early as Bray barely fought back. Miz connected with the Skull Crushing Finale but didn’t go for the cover. The Miz started snapping back Wyatt’s arm and Bray shouted “do it!”. Miz obliged and Wyatt rolled out of the ring.

https://twitter.com/tde_wrestling/status/1206393926925639680?s=20

Bray slammed his own shoulder into the barricade and Miz slammed him into the steel steps. Wyatt battled back and hit a Sister Abigail outside the ring. Back in the ring, Wyatt hit another Sister Abigail for the victory. The Fiend then appeared on the jumbotron and Wyatt smiled. Bray grabbed the giant mallet from under the ring but the lights in the arena went out.

Daniel Bryan showed up and leveled Wyatt with the Running Knee. Daniel revealed short hair and leveled Bray with another Running Knee. Bryan booted Bray in the face and grabbed the mallet. The lights went out again and Bray Wyatt disappeared but left the Universal Championship behind. Bryan grabbed the mallet and slammed it on the canvas. He then posed in the corner of the ring as the crowd chanted “yes!” to close the segment.

Wyatt facial expressions throughout this match were the best part of it. He transitioned from being the giggly, Mr. Rogers type of character into the dark side of his character flawlessly. Bryan looks about ten years younger now and got a great reaction from the crowd. While I wouldn’t call this a good match by any means, this feud remains the most interesting thing in WWE right now.

Lana Helped Lashley Win

Rusev faced Bobby Lashley tonight in a Tables Match. Lana was ringside for the match. Rusev controlled the match early and set up a table outside the ring. Rusev lifted Lashley up onto his shoulders and was going to slam Bobby through the table but Lashley flipped it over.

Lashley took control and launched Rusev into the turnbuckle. Bobby brought a table into the ring and set it up in the corner. Rusev attacked Lashley and the two battled to the apron. Rusev knocked Lashley off the apron but Bobby was able to hop over the table.

Rusev grabbed the steel steps and bashed Lashley in the face with them. Rusev hit Lashley with the steel guardrail but Bobby raked Rusev’s eyes. Lashley then slammed Rusev through the guardrail and grabbed a kendo stick from under the ring.

Bobby beat the hell out Rusev with the kendo stick as Lana laughed. Lashley set up a table in the corner again and went to hit Rusev with the kendo stick but he blocked it. Rusev grabbed the kendo stick and hit Lashley a bunch of times before breaking it over his knee.

Rusev leveled Lashley with the Machka Kick but Lana leaped on his back. Lashley hit Rusev with a Spear onto the table but it didn’t break. Bobby then hit connected with a Belly to Belly Suplex through the table in the opposite corner for the victory. A terrible match to go along with a terrible feud. There really isn’t anything else to say.

The Kabuki Warriors Retained

The Kabuki Warriors defended the Women’s Tag Team Championships in a TLC Match against Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair. It was the main event of the PPV.

Flair and Lynch dominated the match early but Asuka battled back and hit Flair with a steel chair. Asuka hit Lynch with a Hip Attack and sent her tumbling out of the ring. Asuka held up a chair and Sane Dropkicked it into Charlotte’s face. Charlotte and Becky set up a table outside the ring and sent Asuka flying into the ring post.

Kairi Sane slid under the ring but Becky and Flair grabbed her legs. They dragged Kairi out but she had a fire extinguisher and sprayed it into their face. Kairi hit Becky with a Neckbreaker on top of several chairs The Kabuki Warriors tied Becky to a ladder outside the ring and then Asuka hit Flair with a Shining Wizard.

The Kabuki Warriors started climbing up the ladder but Flair brought them down by attacking them with a kendo stick. Flair launched Sane into the steel steps and then threw Asuka into the barricade. Charlotte went to untie Becky but Asuka hit her with a steel chair. Asuka and Sane then launched Charlotte into the steel steps.

Kairi tried to hit Lynch with the Insane Elbow but Becky got her knees up. Becky then escaped and bashed Asuka’s face off the announce table. Charlotte and Becky took back control and set up Asuka on top of a table. Lynch connected with a Leg Drop on Asuka through the table.

Lynch and Flair went for a Suplex on Kairi but Sane countered into a double DDT. Kairi hit a Splash on Becky on top of the table but the table didn’t break. Flair Powerbombed Sane through a table but turned around into a German Suplex from Asuka.

Asuka then piled a bunch of chairs on top of Flair and helped Sane back up. The Kabuki Warriors set up a ladder in the ring but Becky and Charlotte got back up. Becky and Charlotte got into the ring and beat down the Kabuki Warriors with chairs as a lot of the crowd booed.

Charlotte climbed to the top rope and Asuka caught her with a couple of punches. Flair then Powerbombed Flair through a table outside the ring. Becky hit Asuka with an Exploder Suplex outside the ring. Becky went to climb the ladder in the ring but Asuka grabbed the rope still tied to it and Becky fell into the ropes. Asuka then climbed to the top of the ladder and grabbed the titles. The Kabuki Warriors are still the Women’s Tag Team Champions.

After the match, the brawl between Reigns, Corbin, and a bunch of random superstars was still going on and it spilled out to the ringside area. Reigns hit Corbin with a Spear to close the show.

WWE TLC 2019 started off with two great matches and then somehow wound up as one of the worst PPVs of the year in my opinion. The main event was an absolute mess and the crowd completely turned on the match. The crowd was ready to go from the start tonight but just wanted to go home by the end of the show.

The Kabuki Warriors Win First-Ever Women’s Tag Team TLC Match

The first-ever Women’s TLC Tag Team Match is in the books.

WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors made their latest title defense against RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch & Charlotte Flair at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center on the WWE Network.

As seen in the contest, Asuka and Kairi Sane picked up the win to retain the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

This match was locally advertised last month when promotional material for this show first surfaced.

WWE has been building up to this contest over the past few weeks of television on Monday Night RAW with Flair feuding with Asuka and Kairi Sane.

Time will tell whether WWE continues this feud or goes into a different direction heading into the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event next month to kick off the road to WrestleMania 36 in April.

Lynch hasn’t defended the RAW Women’s Title since October when she beat Banks inside of the Hell in a Cell structure at the pay-per-view event in Sacramento, California at the Golden 1 Center.

What are your thoughts on The Kabuki Warriors retaining the Women’s Tag Team Titles? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

Daniel Bryan Returns At WWE TLC, Attacks Bray Wyatt

As expected, Bray Wyatt was victorious at the final PPV event of the year, TLC

Wyatt beat The Miz at Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view event. In this match, Wyatt portrayed his normal character that is usually shown in the Firefly Funhouse segments instead of his alter ego, The Fiend.

After the match, The Fiend appeared on the screen and Wyatt agreed to bring out the giant mallet. Daniel Bryan, dressed in a hoodie, hit his finisher to Wyatt with a new look as he cut his hair. Bryan was going to hit Wyatt with the mallet but the lights went out and Wyatt was gone.

Wyatt was expected to have a rematch with Bryan at this show after Wyatt beat Brayn in a championship match at the WWE Survivor Series pay-per-view event last month.

However, WWE wrote Bryan off of television when Wyatt attacked Bryan. This led to The Miz stepping up to the task of being the next in line to challenge Wyatt for the title as well as get revenge on Wyatt for Bryan.

Miz was originally slated to work with Wyatt at Survivor Series but plans changed with Bryan in that spot instead.

Two weeks ago on SmackDown, Wyatt attacked Miz in a backstage segment and wasn’t dressed up as The Fiend.

What are your thoughts on Bray Wyatt winning this non-title match at the show? Was this the right call by WWE officials? Sound off in the comment section.

Baron Corbin Beats Roman Reigns At WWE TLC

Roman Reigns didn’t get his revenge on Baron Corbin.

“The Big Dog” did so when he battled King Corbin in a TLC (tables, ladders & chairs) Match at the WWE TLC pay-per-view event in Minneapolis, Minnesota at the Target Center. Corbin ended up going over with some help from Dolph Ziggler, The Revival, and several security guards.

It’s been reported that the company was considering different ideas for a stipulation that would be part of this contest including a dog collar match.

WWE has been building up this feud on television over the past few weeks that forced them to be on the same team at Survivor Series last month. It got to the point where brought Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode into the fold to help Corbin battle Reigns. Two weeks ago on SmackDown, the heels beat down Reigns and poured dog food on him.

During the men’s Survivor Series elimination match, the two stars had a moment. Corbin caused the elimination of their Team SmackDown partner Mustafa Ali.

As a result, Reigns hit a spear on Corbin, which resulted in Corbin being eliminated by Tommaso Ciampa. Reigns went on to win the match for his team to beat out Team NXT and Team RAW.

The New Day Retain SmackDown Tag Team Titles At WWE TLC

The New Day is staying on top of the SmackDown Tag Team Division as The Revival didn’t dethrone them.

Big E and Kofi Kingston successfully retained the SmackDown Tag Team Titles over Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder at Sunday’s (December 15, 2019) WWE TLC pay-per-view event.

WWE set up this title match back on the December 6th episode of SmackDown when the company crowned new #1 contenders.

A Fatal 4-Way Elimination Tag Team Match was booked that saw Chad Gable & Ali, The Revival, Heavy Machinery, and the Lucha House Party battle it out.

As seen in the contest, The Revival ended up winning. As a result, Dawson and Wilder were crowned the new #1 contenders.

The two tag teams have been feuding quite a bit over the last few months. In fact, The New Day beat The Revival to win the titles on November 8, 2019 from Manchester, England at the Manchester Arena on a taped episode of SmackDown.

Time will tell whether WWE officials plan to move on from this feud.

Details On Baron Corbin Getting A Manager

It looks like WWE is investing even more in Baron Corbin as he’s getting a manager.

On Thursday, WWE held a house show in Green Bay, Wisconsin where Drake Maverick managed King Corbin in his match against Roman Reigns.

It turns out that reported the plan was indeed to have Maverick eventually become Corbin’s manager, according to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio. As of this writing, WWE has yet to play this out on TV.

Two weeks ago on an episode of SmackDown, there was a person under the ring who grabbed Reigns’ foot shortly before he was attacked by Corbin and Dolph Ziggler. This was the angle where Reigns was covered in dog food. At the time, WWE didn’t address who it was, yet.

Meltzer speculated that the angle with Maverick under the ring helping Corbin was a way that WWE could tie Corbin and Maverick together

Corbin is slated to take on Roman Reigns in a TLC Match at the WWE TLC PPV at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

John Cena has talked about wanting to make a WWE return in the near future and has led fans to believe that could be happening sooner rather than later.

The former WWE Champion sent out two messages on his social platforms that sparked speculation from fans.

On Sunday, Cena posted an interesting photo on Instagram, which he usually doesn’t write captions with his IG photos. He also sent out another motivational quote on Twitter.

With those cryptic messages and an interesting stat, some people think Cena could appear at WWE TLC. The stat is the fact that his current WWE PPV streak that’s in jeopardy of ending if he doesn’t wrestle at TLC.

Cena has worked at least one PPV match for 17 years straight. At this point, this is pure speculation and no reports have backed up this theory.

John Cena Eager For WWE Return, Addresses Randy Orton’s WrestleMania Challenge

Last month, Cena spoke with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated where he noted that he was eager to make a WWE return.

Every day away from it, I miss it more and more and more. I’m becoming more honest with myself about how much I miss it. I’m very eager to get back into a WWE ring soon.”

His first pay-per-view match came back in 2002 at Vengeance against Chris Jericho that saw Jericho go for the Walls of Jericho, but Cena countered for a pinfall victory.

Daniel Cormier Reveals Recent Contact with WWE

UFC fighter and lifelong WWE fan Daniel Cormier recently sat down with BT Sport. The former UFC Heavyweight Champion discussed WWE during the interview, including the recent Cain Velasquez vs Brock Lesnar match that took place at Crown Jewel in October. BT Sport will be taking WWE programming over from Sky Sports in the UK starting in 2020.

“I’ve talked with the WWE on a number of occasions, they want to work together,” Cormier claimed. “I almost came to the press conference for Brock [Lesnar] vs. Cain [Velasquez] to play the role of a fight builder. Unfortunately, my scheduling didn’t work.” Lesnar defeated Velasquez in quick fashion at the Crown Jewel event. Velasquez has not been featured on WWE television since the bout.

Daniel Cormier also revealed that he had been offered a deal to work with FOX. This would be for WWE Backstage. “I got an offer to work that new show, WWE Backstage. Obviously, it didn’t work with the new relationship with [the UFC and] ESPN. But we are constantly trying to get me involved in the product. As a big time fan of the WWE, nothing makes me happier. I’ve got some great opportunities, man. I’m lucky. I’ve got some things outside of the octagon that’s gonna carry me for a long time.”

Brock Lesnar’s ‘advocate’ Paul Heyman saw the video and responded via Twitter, seemingly coaxing Daniel Cormier to jump to WWE and get in the ring with Lesnar. “It’s easy to garner publicity calling out the top box office attraction. @dc_mma can’t hang w/
@BrockLesnar in the #Brocktagon nor a @WWE ring, and he can’t hang with me on the mic. MAYBE he could TRY to hang with Brock on the mic and me in the ring … MAYBE!!!”
