– On Friday night, a banner for WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan was hoisted to the top of Madison Square Garden as part of Hulk Hogan Appreciation Night. We’ve received word from several readers who attended a New York Knicks game at the Garden over the weekend saying that Hogan’s banner is no longer there.
As of this writing, there’s no word on where the banner will wind up, or if WWE will simply hang it whenever they hold shows at MSG.
– Legendary TV producer Simon Cowell (American Idol, X-Factor) is looking to “revive” professional wrestling on to British television, according to the UK’s Sun newspaper. Cowell grew up a huge pro wrestling fan in the 1970’s. An insider told The Sun on Sunday newspaper:
“Now American wrestling’s big, I think it’s a good idea to bring it back. But you have to bring back really big people. Simon seemed really excited about bringing back wrestling. If anyone can get it back on the box, he can.”
WWE and TNA currently air on UK television, but it looks like Cowell wants to compete and bring his own vision to the small screen. Perhaps he’s seen the success Mark Burnett has had with Lucha Underground on the El Rey Network, which has carved its own niche here in the US, despite the similar competition that Cowell would face in the UK.
