5 Takeaways From WWE RAW (3/4)

Rousey RAW

The March 4th, 2019 episode of WWE RAW aired live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, PA. It was the final episode of RAW before WWE Fastlane this weekend. Here are 5 takeaways from the show:

Roman Reigns Suggested Another Shield Reunion

Roman Reigns kicked off this week’s episode of RAW and got a great reaction from the crowd. Reigns stood in the ring as the crowd chanted “Roman!”. Reigns stated that he was here to take his yard back and that he has spent some time thinking about his future.

Reigns said that there is one man standing in the way of what he wants, and that man is Seth Rollins. Seth joined Reigns in the ring and stated that seeing Roman back in a WWE ring meant a lot to him. Rollins claimed that he was going to take that inspiration and use it to slay The Beast at WrestleMania.

Seth added that he is going to bring the Universal Championship back to RAW every single week. Rollins told Reigns that he understands what it is like to vacate a title and never lose it. Seth told Roman that if he deserves a shot at Brock Lesnar as well.

Roman stated that Rollins kept this place in line while he was gone and that he has a ton of confidence in Seth. Reigns wished Rollins good luck at WrestleMania and then asked Seth for a favor. Roman suggested that they get the band back together one last time and Rollins wasn’t interested.

Rollins didn’t want to forgive Ambrose for what he did in the past, but the crowd quickly broke out in a “Shield!” chant. Reigns said life is short and the most important thing is the relationships that we have. Roman brought up Ambrose being in headlines recently and that he wants one more moment with his brother before he isn’t around anymore.

Seth admitted that Reigns was right and that tomorrow is not guaranteed. Rollins stated that he was in and Reigns asked Ambrose to come down to the ring. Dean swaggered down to the top of the entrance ramp with a crazy look on his face as the crowd chanted his name. Elias came up behind Ambrose and smashed him with a guitar. Elias then scampered backstage before Reigns and Rollins could get to him. Ambrose didn’t acknowledge Reigns and Rollins as he limped backstage.

Triple H Responded To Batista In An Epic Promo

On last week’s episode of RAW, Batista attacked Ric Flair backstage in an effort to get Triple H’s attention. WWE COO Triple H cut a promo tonight and stated that he traveled the road with Ric Flair for many years. Triple H said that Flair was at his side at his wedding, and joked that he couldn’t make all of Flair’s weddings. Triple H referred to Flair as Richard Fleihr and said that he was there for him in his worst moment when he had to bury his son.

Triple H added that he was there last week for Richard Fleihr last week so that he could be Ric Flair one more time in front of the WWE Universe. HHH blasted Batista for attacking a 70-year-old Ric Flair to try to get his attention.

HHH told Batista to have some balls and show up because he will be waiting for him. Triple H stated that when Batista confronts him, he won’t be confronting “The Game”. He then shouted “you want my attention, Dave? You’ve got it!”.

It was later announced that Batista and Triple H will meet face-to-face on next week’s episode of RAW.

Triple H pretending to cry was a bit much, but the rest of this promo was exceptional. Triple H is phenomenal on the microphone and could make any match feel important. This is a match between two Superstars that are well past their prime and it likely won’t be a work of art. However, the build to it is off to a great start and if this continues, the crowd will be invested at WrestleMania 35.

The Shield Reunited

Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns tried to talk with Ambrose during tonight’s show but Dean refused and claimed that he wanted to focus on his match against Elias. Ambrose battled Elias in the second hour of RAW and started off the match in control.

Dean knocked Elias out of the ring and slammed him into the barricade. Ambrose was selling an injury from the guitar shot earlier and eventually, Elias battled back. Elias connected with the Drift Away for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns came down to the entrance ramp as RAW went to a break. When RAW returned, Reigns and Rollins joined Ambrose in the ring. Reigns and Rollins tried to reason with Ambrose but Dean wasn’t having it. Ambrose got out of the ring and exited through the crowd.

Baron Corbin, Drew McIntyre, and Bobby Lashley interrupted and vowed to end this right now. Corbin, McIntyre, and Lashley surrounded Rollins and Reigns in the ring and started to beat them down. Ambrose rushed back to the ring and helped Rollins and Reigns. Roman hit Lashley with a Superman Punch and The Shield stood tall.

The Shield will battle Corbin, McIntyre, and Lashley this Sunday at WWE Fastlane. This reunion will not last long, as Dean Ambrose is reportedly leaving WWE shortly after WrestleMania. As of now, neither Reigns or Ambrose have a match at WrestleMania. There have been some rumors of Ambrose vs. Reigns at the biggest PPV of the year, so maybe we will see the beginning of that storyline this Sunday night.

Roode & Gable Ruined Black & Ricochet’s Title Shot

The Revival defended their RAW Tag Team Championships against Aleister Black and Ricochet. Wilder and Dawson started off in control and isolated Black in the corner of the ring. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable made their way down the entrance ramp as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, The Revival still had Black trapped in the ring as Gable and Roode were ringside. Aleister finally escaped and tagged in Ricochet. Ricochet rolled up Wilder for a near fall and then planted Dawson with a Neckbreaker.

Ricochet knocked Dawson and Wilder out of the ring. Bobby Roode and Chad Gable then attacked The Revival and the match ended in a disqualification. Roode and Gable got into the ring and traded punches with Black and Ricochet. Black and Ricochet knocked them to the outside and then posed in the ring.

Becky Lynch Will Have To Defeat Charlotte At Fastlane To Get Into The Title Match At WrestleMania

Stephanie McMahon was interviewed backstage during this week’s episode of RAW. Stephanie announced that Becky Lynch’s suspension has been lifted.

Stephanie then addressed Ronda Rousey leaving the RAW Women’s Championship behind on last week’s show. Stephanie announced that Charlotte will face Becky Lynch for the vacant RAW Women’s Championship at WWE Fastlane if Becky will sign a hold harmless agreement later tonight.

Later on RAW, Charlotte Flair was interviewed backstage and vowed to put Lynch on the shelf for good and capture the RAW Women’s Champion this Sunday.

At the end of RAW, Stephanie McMahon came down to the ring with the vacated RAW Women’s Championship. Stephanie welcomed Charlotte and Becky Lynch down to the ring. Lynch hobbled her way down the ramp with a crutch as Michael Cole stated that the McMahon’s are trying to cover their ass by bringing Lynch back after Ronda vacated the title.

Stephanie stated that Becky is clearly not healthy and that she needs to sign a hold harmless agreement should she get further injured at Fastlane. Charlotte suggested that Stephanie simply hand the title to The Queen instead.

Becky grabbed the microphone and stated that she didn’t want to wait until Fastlane. Stephanie said that couldn’t happen because of legal reasons and told Becky to sign the agreement. Lynch signed the agreement and Stephanie announced the match as official. Ronda Rousey was then shown backstage and heading towards the ring as RAW went to a break.

Ronda claimed that she didn’t vacate the title and simply gave Stephanie a week to think about things. Rousey added that she wanted Stephanie to include Becky and not exclude her. Stephanie gave Rousey her title back and suggested another option. Becky will still face Charlotte at Fastlane, and if Lynch wins she will be added to the RAW Women’s Championship match at WrestleMania.

Rousey then went on a rant against the WWE crowd and blasted them for booing her in her hometown. Ronda said that she is no longer the crowd’s “dancing monkey” and attacked Charlotte and Becky Lynch. Rousey locked in the Arm Bar on Lynch as Charlotte retreated out of the ring. Ronda then put her boot on Becky’s face and raised the RAW Women’s Championship. Ronda once again locked in the Arm Bar for a bit before raising the title to a chorus of boos from the crowd.

Stephanie McMahon was interviewed again backstage and claimed that Ronda Rousey showed her true colors tonight. She stated that Ronda has no regard for her opponents or the WWE Universe. Stephanie said that she feels sorry for Becky Lynch and that she is sick to her stomach over it.

Ronda Rousey got in a few stiff jabs at Lynch during the attack tonight, which makes sense if you have been following their arguments on Twitter. I also enjoyed Rousey’s promo tonight, she is not the fan favorite and it was nice to see her finally act like it. This storyline has been fun to follow, even though it is kind of silly that Lynch would have to earn her way back into the match after winning the Women’s Royal Rumble. At the very least, there is another match to look forward to this Sunday at Fastlane.
