Former UFC Heavyweight Champion turned WWE Superstar Cain Velasquez has confirmed that he’s signed a contract with WWE.
He did so through a statement that he shared on his official Twitter account. The statement was two parts with the first talking about his time as a pro-MMA fighter and his accomplishments in the UFC.
Regarding his start in WWE, he brought up how he went to his first WWE show a year ago and fell back in love with a sport that he had watched and participated in since he was a kid.
“From that moment, I have been doing a crash course on all things that relate to pro wrestling. I’ve been training at different gyms, going to shows and watching more matches then I would like to admit, but I can honestly say I eat, sleep and breath wrestling now.
The contract is signed and I’m on my way to my next goal which is Universal Champion. WWE Universe, thank you for welcoming me with open arms.”

Velasquez will challenge WWE Champion Brock Lesnar for the title at the upcoming Crown Jewel pay-per-view event. In the statement, he wrongly stated the Universal Title, which is held by Seth Rollins.
This statement comes after it was Marc Raimondi of ESPN reported on Friday that Velasquez has signed a lucrative, multi-year deal with WWE.
