Many fans feel the use of authority figures in wrestling has been overdone. Recently, a fan on Twitter asked Cody about the possibility of AEW utilizing someone in such a role. According to Cody, using an authority figure in today’s era of pro-wrestling would be insulting to the audience.
“Hopefully never,” Cody Tweeted when asked if there will be an authority figure in AEW. “The audience isn’t dumb, they know who management is. Authority elements seem insulting in this era. This is just my opinion, as there’s a lot of fun ways to do this and I respect those.”
Cody also responded to a fan who asked if he’ll ever challenge for the AEW World Championship again.
While Cody can never challenge for the AEW belt again, he is in the finals of the TNT title tournament. He will face Lance Archer at Double or Nothing for the belt.
Cody noted Kris Statlander and Wardlow both seem on the verge of something special as well:
Cody will take part in an interview with Tony Schiavone at 6 PM tonight. Schiavone and Cody’s discussion will be broadcast on AEW’s social media channels.
