Stone Cold Steve Austin Joining The Third Season Of Dark Side Of The Ring

Stone Cold Steve Austin will be joining the third season of the Dark Side Of The Ring documentary series.

The former WWE star recently appeared on Won’t Stick to Sports talk show where the Texas Rattle Snake talked about the upcoming second season of Straight Up Steve Austin.

Interestingly during the interview, host Jemele Hill mentioned that the former world champion will be joining the first episode of Dark Side Of The Ring season three, to talk about the death of Brian Pillman:

“Other than our show, my favorite show on Vice is Dark Side of the Ring, which is a docu-series about pro wrestling, you’re actually on season three to talk about the life and unfortunate death of your friend Brian Pillman,”

The news has since been confirmed by both the official Twitter account of the documentary series and Steve Austin himself as well:

Brian Pillman began his wrestling career in the late 80s and he wrestled for many famous promotions such as NWA, WCW, ECW and WWE as well.

The American star crossed paths with Steve Austin in both WWE and WCW. In WCW, Pillman teamed up with Austin in a team called Hollywood Blonds.

The two then had a feud in WWE and fans remember this rivalry for a controversial promo filmed in the late star’s home where he pulled a gun on Stone Cold Steve Austin before the cameras went black.

Brian Pillman unfortunately passed away due to a heart attack in October 1997. The 35 year old star was found dead in his motel room in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The Good Brothers On Losing Their Confidence In WWE

A lot of former WWE stars have said that their run with the company resulted in a loss of passion and confidence for them and The Good Brothers shared their similar experiences recently.

The team of Karl Anderson and Doc Gallows were recently interviewed by Sports Illustrated where they opened up about their time with the company and more.

During the interview, Anderson said that he hates to admit the fact that there was a point in WWE when they had lost their confidence:

“I hate to admit this, but I think there was a point in WWE where we had a loss of confidence, but I can promise you that the confidence is back.

We needed to get out of that environment to remind ourselves who we really are and what we can be. Right now, we’re on top of our game. It feels that way to us, and hopefully, it shows.”

Though later in the interview, Doc Gallows said that the Good Brothers don’t have any sour grapes about their time with the company before joking about not getting Slammy Awards for their participation in the Boneyard match:

“We don’t have any sour grapes about WWE, except that they forgot to mail us our Slammy Award for Match of the Year, maybe the mail is slow. I’m still waiting on that. But we’re focused on right now.”

Apart from this, the Good Brothers also discussed their reunion with the Elite on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite and said that it felt good to do it in front of a live crowd. You can check out their full interview at this link.

Kurt Angle Says His TNA Career Was Better Than WWE Stint

Kurt Angle started his professional wrestling career in WWE in 1998 and the Olympic Gold Medallist achieved a lot of success in the company including half a dozen world title reigns.

However his WWE run came to an abrupt end in 2006 when the former champion asked for his release from the promotion due to health reasons.

After quitting WWE, Angle joined TNA and during his recent appearance on Wrestling Perspective podcast, Kurt claimed that his TNA career was better than his run with WWE:

“I actually had a better career there,” said Angle. “I hate to admit it because WWE was the big company, but I got better. I was only in the business six and a half years when I switched to TNA, and that was the prime of my career.

I mean, my matches with Samoa Joe, Sting, AJ Styles, Bobby Roode, all those guys, and I had a really great career there, “said Kurt Angle, “As much as I love WWE, that was so much better.”

The former Raw General Manager went on to say that there is a part of him that wishes that he would have stayed in WWE during those years because there were more eyes on WWE’s product.

Would you put Kurt Angle’s TNA run above his stint with WWE? Do let us know your thoughts on the claims made by the former world champion.

Tony Schiavone Confirms Erick Rowan’s AEW Status

Tony Schiavone confirmed on the latest Dynamite post show that former WWE star Erick Rowan is not part of the AEW roster just yet.

The AEW commentator was asked if fans can expect to see the former Wyatt Family member in action again.

Replying to it, Schiavone said that his appearance was only for the tribute show though he did not rule out the possibility of Rowan returning to the company in future:

“I believe Erick’s appearance only came on that tribute show to his former tag team partner. Then again, I say that but who knows? He might show up tomorrow,”

Erick Rowan made a surprise appearance during the Brodie Lee Celebration Of Life episode of Dynamite to pay tribute to his former tag team partner.

The former WWE star was released from his contract in April earlier last year as part of the company’s coronavirus budget cuts alongside several other stars.

Many of the released stars such as Miro and The Good Brothers have since signed new contracts with different promotions but Erick Rowan remains a free agent.

Now it would be interesting to see if the indie star makes any more appearances for AEW in future and which company he eventually joins as a full time star.

Update: Sonny Kiss Is Not Injured

AEW star Sonny Kiss has clarified a report that he is currently out of action due to injury.

The story about a potential injury began circulating late Wednesday night. During the AEW Dynamite post-show, Tony Schiavone was asked by a fan about Sonny Kiss’ whereabouts. On Thursday afternoon, Sonny Kiss set the record straight on social media:

Sonny Kiss signed an AEW contract back in February 2019. He made his debut at the company’s inaugural Double or Nothing PPV in May and has been a part of the AEW roster ever since.

AJ Styles Talks About Competing For WCW In 2001

AJ Styles wrestled for many well known promotions across the globe before eventually signing with WWE in 2016 and the list includes a forgotten run with WCW as well.

The former WWE Champion was paired with Air Paris in a team called Air Raid and the two had one match for the promotion as part of WCW Cruiserweight Tag Team Championship tournament right before the company folded.

During his recent appearance on WWE’s The Bump, Styles opened up about his experience of competing in the promotion and revealed that he actually had a contract with the company:

“I knew I had a contract. So, I knew I was going to be coming back for a few more matches, Now, I didn’t know that WCW was going to go out of business. That sucked for me. But, it is what it is, and it happened for a reason.

I wasn’t ready to be in WCW. And I’m sure as heck was not ready to be in WWE.” said AJ Styles, “So, I’m glad things happened the way they did. I’m happy for the experience, but the timing wasn’t right.”

Later in the interview, the former TNA star also talked about his WWE debut and how the company had hidden him before Royal Rumble in order to try and stop the leaks about his debut.

WWE will be releasing a new episode of the WWE Untold featuring the story of AJ Styles’ Royal Rumble debut on WWE Network this Sunday at 9 AM EST.

WWE NXT Superstar Ridge Holland has made his first comments since being put out of the action due to a leg injury he suffered during the October 7 episode of NXT last month.

The heavyweight star was recently interviewed by Alex McCarthy of Talk Sport where he opened up about his injury and provided updates on his recovery.

Holland first provided some details on the damage he suffered revealing that his left leg was fractured and he dislocated his kneecap in his right leg:

“On my left leg I fractured and dislocated my ankle and then on my right leg, I dislocated the kneecap and ruptured my patella tendons. Kind of a buy one get one free on injuries! But, it’s coming on well. The WWE medical staff are top-notch and they’ve got me well on the road to recovery.”

When asked about a potential timeline for his recovery, Ridge Holland mentioned that it’s still early to say anything for certain but the doctors have given an initial timeline of six to nine months:

“It’s early days yet, but the doctor has said six to nine months, so I’m just taking it day-by-day and see how the knee and ankle feels.

If I look too far in the future I’ll probably take my focus on what needs to be done today. So yeah, we’ll see how it goes,”

Apart from this, Ridge Holland also spoke positively of the WWE management for taking care of him after his injury and revealed the influence William Regal has had on him.

T-Bar Claims ‘Teenage Virgin’ Sammy Guevara Stole His Finisher, AEW Stars Fire Back

Retribution’s T-BAR has accused a current AEW star of stealing his finisher.

The former NXT star took on Twitter earlier today and made an interesting tweet, claiming that “some little teenage virgin on AEW” stole his finisher four years ago. He wrote, “Some little teenage virgin on AEW stole my finisher like four years ago after we did a show together. I’d steal something from his move set but it’s all just @KingRicochet moves.”

T-BAR did not mention any names in the since-deleted tweet, the post invoked a response from Sammy Guevara who claimed that the move known as Feast Your Eyes belongs to indie wrestler Matt Demorest.

You can view the two finishers here:

Sammy Guevara fired back at the Retribution member saying that he is just trying to get the move to be seen by fans because the Raw star is never on TV.

AEW star Dax Harwood also joined in on the conversation by replying to Guevara and called T-BAR “an idiot” who is lucky to even be in the wrestling business.

T-Bar later referenced a controversial joke Guevara made about Sasha Banks in 2016, which AEW suspended him for last year when they resurfaced. He wrote, “Someone tell panda kid I had a singles match on TV last night, and I didn’t steal the move from some backyarder, I thought of it in a professional wrestling ring with @Kill4nova. Try being creative sometime, instead of, oh I don’t know, making jokes about rape.”

He also responded Dax Harwood’s tweet, writing, “I could never understand what your problem was with me. I was always polite to you. Complimented your matches. I think you hated my style? So weird. Hope all is well, you usually seem like a nice enough dude.”

T-Bar eventually decided to delete the tweets related to this conversation and said the whole argument was dumb. “You know what, everyone is right. This is a dumb argument and I’m deleting my contributions to it.”

Foley noted that his health isn’t too bad but he is getting fatigued too easily and his head feels a little cloudy. The former hardcore champion also requested the fans to take the pandemic seriously:

“Many of you have been asking how I’m feeling after my positive COVID test. All in all, not too bad – but I get fatigued very easily, and my head still feels a little cloudy. PLEASE take this pandemic seriously – the daily death count is staggeringly high..and climbing.”

Anthem And Jeff Jarrett Reach Settlement In GFW Lawsuit

Jeff Jarrett and Anthem, the parent company of the current Impact Wrestling have finally reached a settlement in their trademark case, according to Law 360.

While the terms of the settlement between the two parties were not disclosed, a brief filing with the court told the judge that both the parties will be submitting a joint request for dismissal:

“The terms of the settlement are met, and unless any party objects, they will submit a joint request for dismissal of the claims and counterclaims in the case by no later than Oct 1, 2022.”

Impact Wrestling had originally announced a merger with Jarrett’s GFW back in April 2017 and they started rebranding their programming using the GFW logo and theme in June.

However, the merger was short lived as the company severed their ties with GFW in October and returned to the Impact Wrestling name which they have utilised ever since.

Then in August 2018, Jeff Jarrett and Global Force Entertainment filed a lawsuit against Anthem claiming that the company violated state and federal trademark infringes by continuing to use footage of GFW Amped.

Anthem officials filed a countersuit against Jeff Jarrett in 2019, arguing that Jerrett and GWE granted them a licence to the GFW name and related assets.

Truth opened up about the struggles he had to endure after getting released by the company during his latest interview with Sports Illustrated and he revealed that there were times when he thought of quitting the business altogether:

“There have been times I was ready to quit; It’s hard to be your best when you don’t believe in yourself. There were times when I felt I wasn’t good enough, times when I didn’t think I had a shot of making it.”

Though thankfully, the former United States Champion continued to work hard and R Truth explained how he stayed motivated through his struggles:

“I remember telling myself, ‘I’m not going to quit,’ That’s why I’m at where I am right now. Everything I went through back then, it helped make me stronger. It helped me find different emotions.”

Kidd first mentioned how he had thought about competing in a match such as Royal Rumble porior to his retirement before putting the idea to rest. He then went on to reveal his dream retirement match:

“In terms of an actual match, would it be me vs. Cesaro or me vs. Harry or me, Cesaro, and Harry in a match against The New Day? Right as I got hurt, I saw Jason Jordan and Chad Gable started hitting their strides and I thought of what great matches we could have. I think Gable is so good.”

Tyson Kidd suffered a neck injury during a dark match with Samoa Joe on Raw back in 2015 which turned out to be a career-ending blow for the former wrestler.

He has since taken a backstage role in WWE as a producer. Kidd has had a hand in producing many of the memorable women’s matches in recent times.

Candice Michelle On Romantic Storyline With Vince McMahon

Candice Michelle’s storyline romance with Mr McMahon got the female star reorganization early in her run with WWE after signing with the company in 2004.

The former women’s champion recently had an interview with WrestlingInc, where she talked about her WWE career in detail and also opened up about the angle with the Boss.

Michelle was asked about the storyline where she had to kiss Vince McMahon on a few occasions, and she admitted that it was awkward but said that she considered it a part of her job:

“I remember it was awkward,” Michelle said. “I do think there was like two, maybe three, I don’t quite remember to be honest. But also it was how it was back then. I remember it just kind of trickled down from girl to girl. Everybody kind of went through that. Even though it’s awkward to do, it was just part of my job.

There was no intimacy, we didn’t think of it like we’re actresses and we’re going to win an Emmy nomination or something.” said Michelle, “We’re young and we’re dumb and we’re innocent, and we’re happy to be working. That’s just part of it.”

The former champion also recalled her pudding match with Melina back in 2007 during the One Night Stand PPV and she called it the worst match of her life.

Talking about the unfortunate turn of events, Steve Austin said that he just couldn’t believe it and he then recalled his conversations with the former Wyatt Family member when he was still in WWE:

“I just absolutely couldn’t believe it because the guy was a tremendous hand in the business, but he was a sweetheart of a guy,” Austin said. “When he was in WWE, we would talk every now and then on the phone just about his character and what he was doing.

And then we stopped talking and he kept going and he finally ended up in AEW. And I didn’t know his real name from his WWE name.” said Stone Cold, “And I was like, ‘Holy cow, this guy is so young.’ And then I didn’t know what had happened.”

The former world champion continued by saying that Huber’s passing is an absolute tragedy because he was a guy who everybody in the business loved.

Darren Young Reveals Trick To Make Money In WWE

Former WWE star Darren Young recently had an interview with WrestlingInc where he talked about things like moving on from his WWE career and more.

During the interview, the former Nexus member praised his former tag team partner Titus O’Neil for being a hustler who always used to find something to do in the company.

He then revealed a trick to making money in WWE explaining that appearing on WWE’s reality show Total Divas was a guarantee to get a check even when you were not doing anything on Raw or SmackDown:

“With WWE and their reality show, Total Divas, anytime the cameras are around, I get right on there because for me, not being a part of the show; you’re going to get a check in the mail because you’re on their show. They pay you. Any time I see Nattie (Natalya) Neidhart, I go, ‘Hey girl, how you doing? How’s everything going?’

And Nattie knows how to turn it on. ‘Oh my God, I’m having so much problems with this Diva, that Diva,’ and I’m just listening, listening.” said Darren Young, “So I know when the cameras are on, a check is in the mail for me. After you’re done and the cameras turn away from you, they’re writing down who was involved in each scene.”

It was pointed out that Titus is also seen on Total Divas very often and Young revealed that he actually learned this tactic from his former tag team partner saying “that’s who I learned it from.”

Apart from this, Darren Young also talked about being part of Theality TV and more. You can check out the full interview of the former WWE star here.

However, she was pulled from the show after an attack from Baszler and Jax and the company had announced that she has suffered injuries that will keep her out of action for a few weeks.

It was reported at the time that the angle was set up for the return of Charlotte Flair who ended up making a surprise comeback during the PPV.

Though now these photos posted by Lana on the social site have started speculations about the female star potentially being injured in real life.

There is no word yet on where the Raw star might have suffered the injuries or how long she could stay out of action if they are real but we’ll keep you posted on her status.

Ric Flair On Who Is The Greatest Worker In The History Of Wrestling

‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair recently spoke to WWE UK to promote the upcoming Raw Legends Night. During the interview, Flair was asked who he considers to be the greatest worker in the history of the wrestling business and the 16 time world champion took the name of Shawn Michaels:

“It’s not arguable anymore; Shawn is the greatest worker in the history of our business. I think everybody would give that to him. He carried me in my farewell retirement match, no matter how many people want to think I was holding up my end of it, I was trying to get through it.”

Talking about his WWE retirement match at WrestleMania XXIV some more, Ric Flair said that he did not have the self-confidence to rise to the occasion at the time but Shawn made it look like he did:

“At that point in my career I did not have the self-confidence that I needed to have to rise to the occasion and he made it look like I did. I’ve looked back and actually had time the past couple of years to watch some of Shawn’s matches that he had while I was at WCW and Shawn just is a class act.”

The former world champion also praised Ricky Steamboat during the interview and he said that he would put Shawn and Steamboat in a class of their own.

WWE will be celebrating Legends Night on the first Raw of 2021 on January 4 and the show will feature the return of many big names such as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Mickie James and more.

The Rock Gifts Truck To Long Time WWE Employee (Video)

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has been known for surprising important people in his life with cars and the great one has done it once again.

This time the former world champion has gifted a new Ford F-150 pickup truck to longtime WWE employee Harvey Wippleman for helping the Hollywood star when he was younger.

The Rock recently made a post on his Instagram and in the caption, he explained how Wippleman, real name Bruno Lauer helped him by providing him a place to live after the former champion was evicted off the island of Hawaii.

The post accompanied a video in which the two told a story of how Harvey bought The Rock his first car for $40 when he was younger and the people’s champion thanked him for his gesture with a brand new car:

Harvey Wippleman was originally hired by WWE as a manager back in 1991. He transitioned to a backstage role in the company towards the end of the 90s.

Speculation On Seth Rollins’ Return Being Delayed

WWE had originally announced that Seth Rollins will be returning to WWE programming on this week’s episode of SmackDown, though now it appears that his comeback might have been delayed.

The company first advertised the return of The Architect for this Friday during the Blue Brand’s Christmas special episode last week.

However, there was no mention of Rollins on the SmackDown preview video that aired on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw, which started some speculations.

The fact that the company has not included any mention of the former Shield member on the written preview for SmackDown and the original tweet announcing his return has also been deleted is suggesting that his return might have been delayed.

Seth Rollins was originally written off TV after the Survivor Series PPV in late November so he could take some time off to be with his fiancé Becky Lynch while she gave birth to their first child together.

At the time it was reported that the former Universal Champion will not stay away from action for very long and he will return to WWE programming after a few weeks of absence.

While the reason for Rollins’ return being delayed in not known yet, it’s still likely that he will make his comeback in next few weeks, before the Royal Rumble PPV.

Jim Ross On What Sting Will Be Doing In AEW

The big question ever since Sting joined AEW has been what the icon will be doing in the promotion and Jim Ross suggests that he won’t be having just a single role in the company.

The legendary commentator returned for his Grilling JR podcast once again where he talked about things like Tony Schiavone’s different outfits and more.

Talking about Sting’s arrival in the promotion, Ross revealed that it was Tony Khan who reached out to the former WCW star and claimed that he is going to have a variety of roles in the company:

“What’s really going on is Tony Khan reached out, hired Sting to a multiyear deal. He’s going to have a variety of roles, I don’t know what they are exactly but they will be in a creative capacity where he’s a character on television.

There’s a lot of ways to be a character on T.V.” said Jim Ross, “that’s been accepted by the audience nowadays that doesn’t include wrestling a match every week.”

The AEW star continued by claiming that he doesn’t think anyone should wrestle every week calling it a ‘kiss of death’ for the wrestler.

The former WWE star explained that wrestling every week over exposes a talent to the audience and you shouldn’t do it if you want to keep your talent fresh.
