Mick Foley On Why NXT Has Advantage Over AEW

WWE Hall Of Famer Mick Foley recently had an interview with Inside The Ropes where he talked about things like working with Triple H, how special the Madison Square Garden venue is for him and more.

One of the things that have taken the wrestling world by storm in the past year is the war between AEW and NXT. The upstart promotion which only formed at the beginning of 2019 has been giving tough competition to WWE’s third brand.

However talking about the competition between these two shows, Mick Foley claimed that NXT has advantage over AEW because the guys at the Black and Yellow brand have been groomed for the bigger stage:

“NXT’s advantage is that their guys have been trained to work for the camera, and I think they have an advantage of having more seasoned stars and now a dedicated team writing for them, But in the end it comes to down to who has the ability to tell better long-term stories and get the audience engaged.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Foley also discussed how AEW stars want to put on the best match they can whenever they are in the ring but he explained that this doesn’t necessarily lead to the best promotion.

Mick Foley detailed his comments recalling how WWE officials told him to save his hardcore stuff for the big matches and he claimed that it improved his longevity.

Apart from this, the Hardcore Legend also talked about the difference between Bray Wyatt’s Fiend character and his old one. You can check out his comments on the matter at this link.

Rumor Killer On WrestleMania Match For Brock Lesnar

WWE made a very interesting announcement on this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw when Brock Lesnar came out and confirmed that he will be entering the Royal Rumble match as the #1 entrant.

There have been lots of rumors about his participation in the match since then and there have been speculations that his entry in the bout could be a way to set up his WrestleMania 36 match.

Another star who has been in news recently is Edge. He has been subject to reports of a possible return. So this development has led many to wonder if these two stars will cross paths at the upcoming PPV and set up a match for the Show Of Shows.

However, Dave Meltzer cleared up these rumors on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio and he confirmed that Edge vs. Brock Lesnar is not one of the planned matches for the upcoming edition of WrestleMania.

Though he didn’t reveal anything regarding the plans for the Beast and so the spot for the WWE Champion’s WrestleMania opponent is wide open.

Which star would you like to see win Royal Rumble this year? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Triple Threat #1 Contenders Match For Universal Title Announced For Final SmackDown Of 2019

WWE has announced a big triple threat match for next week’s episode of Friday night SmackDown to determine the #1 contender for Bray Wyatt’s Universal Championship at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV.

The opening segment of this week’s episode of SmackDown saw Daniel Bryan, who made his return during TLC come out with his new look. He then started talking about the Fiend.

Both The Miz and Baron Corbin then came out as well and all three of the superstars made the case on why they should be the one to challenge the Universal Champion at the upcoming PPV.

Miz and Bryan then surrounded Corbin but Dolph Ziggler sneaked up from behind, and the segment ended with King Corbin delivering an end of days to Daniel, setting up a tag team match among the four stars for the main event of the show.

The main event saw the A-Lister teaming up with Daniel Bryan to defeat the heels. It was then announced that The Miz, Daniel Bryan, and Baron Corbin will compete in a triple threat next week to determine the next challenger for Wyatt’s Universal title.

Reports have suggested that WWE was originally planning a Survivor Series re-match between Daniel Bryan and Bray Wyatt for the TLC PPV but the bout was then held off for Royal Rumble.

So it won’t be a surprise if Daniel ends up winning the match next week and earn the right to challenge The Fiend. Though we will have to tune in to SmackDown next week to find out whether or not it actually turns out to be the case.

Lacey Evans On Her Goals For 2020

Lacey Evans was only brought in to the main roster during Royal Rumble earlier this year and she has spent less than a year there, but the former NXT star has managed to make a name for herself in this short amount of time.

The Sassy Southern Belle recently had an interview with CBS sports where she talked about things like her face turn, how she would describe her character and more.

When asked what are her goals for the upcoming year, Evans who is currently involved in a rivalry with the SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley said that it’s probably to become the champion in the new year:

“Probably to become champ and get more opportunities to use my platform to show people what you’re capable of, no matter how hard your life is.

I know sometimes things hurt really bad and I know there are a lot of bad things that are happening, and you feel so down and out on yourself. But trust me when I tell you, coming from where I come from and what I’ve been through, you are capable of anything.”

Lacey Evans continued by saying that if she has to become a champion to tell the world that they are capable of anything as long as they continue to fight and have a plan, then that’s what she wants to do.

Apart from this, the SmackDown star discussed her early life, not knowing what she wanted to do when she was young and more. You can check out her full interview at this link.

Edge Continues To Deny Reports Of His Return

Former WWE star Edge had previously denied the rumors suggesting that he is preparing for his comeback and he once again, has done the same.

The Rated R Superstar recently took on his Twitter and made a seemingly out of context tweet which reads: “Still not and still not. Period.”:

This tweet alone does not make a lot of sense but pairing it with the renewed talk of his in-ring return and speculation over a possible Royal Rumble appearance makes it clear that he is denying the reports about his status.

Speculation Over Edge Possibly Returning At Royal Rumble

Edge himself started rumors about his status with WWE when he appeared at the SummerSlam PPV in August earlier this year and got physical for the first time since his retirement in 2011, by delivering a spear to Elias.

The speculation over his status then quickly spanned into reports of him signing a new contract with WWE after announcing his retirement from the podcasting world.

The former World Champion was then spotted in Pittsburgh where WWE’s medical director, Dr. Joseph Maroon is headquartered, which has only fuelled the rumors and made many wonder if the company could be aiming for his return at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV.

While Edge has come out and denied the reports, we have seen stars such as John Morrison and CM Punk trying to deceive the fans about their status in recent times.

So this clarification from the retired wrestler is not expected to affect the WWE Universe’s opinion on the matter and we will have to wait for the Royal Rumble PPV to figure out whether or not he is actually planning a comeback.

Stephanie McMahon On If WWE Can Move Away From PG Rating

Stephanie McMahon says WWE is still committed to presenting a family-friendly “PG” product, despite some recent edgy storylines

AEW has chosen to go with a TV-14 rating. Their rise has once again fueled the debate about whether or not WWE will break from their PG approach. During a recent interview with SportsKeeda, McMahon set the record straight.

WWE’s Chief Brand Officer was talking about the recent storyline between Lana and Rusev and she claimed that the company will remain PG, though there is room to push the envelope in some cases.

“Well, we’re still going to be PG, family friendly, but there is room to push the envelope in some cases,” she said. “In terms of the Lana-Bobby Lashley storyline, WWE is like a variety show. It is, at the end of the day, competition-based, but especially on RAW and SmackDown, you have more of those soap operatic storylines, and that’s why it’s been showcased on RAW.”

McMahon was also asked about NXT’s evolution into its own brand and which stars from the Black and Yellow brand she thinks can become the face of WWE in future. She named Keith Lee, Adam Cole and Rhea Ripley and also touted the stars from WWE’s NXT UK brand as well.

Cody Rhodes On If They Pay Attention To NXT Programming

The beginning of Wednesday Night Wars has been one of the most significant events of 2019 and it has signalled the start of some of the most exciting times in pro wrestling business in the last few years.

During a recent interview with Talk Sport, Cody Rhodes talked about this in detail and gave his thoughts on things like Luke Harper’s WWE release, Marty Scurll’s future and more.

When asked about NXT and if they pay attention to what their competition is doing, the AEW official said that they are aware of the happenings of the show but they make sure they don’t have it on their monitors in the gorilla position at Dynamite:

“We’re aware [of what NXT do] more because we have friends in both locker rooms. We diligently make sure that we don’t have it on the monitor in go-position because, again, we’ve got to be more aware of the audience that’s watching on TNT. “

Cody Rhodes went on to mention how his dad Dusty Rhodes helped NXT in becoming its own brand and said that he has nothing but respect for what they are doing.

Cody Rhodes On The Ratings War Between Dynamite And NXT

One of the most talked-about aspects of this war is the TV ratings. Fans have actively been keeping an eye on the viewership numbers and comparing them with each other ever since both the shows premiered on TV.

Sharing his thoughts on the matter, the AEW Vice President said that the ratings almost matter more to the respective brands individually and it’s more of the fans who put them in contrast to each other:

“Obviously the ratings… they almost matter more to the respective brands individually. Warner Media and TNT, they’re looking at the ratings and the demographic, that P1 demo and how you’re doing there and then I’m assuming USA are doing the same for NXT, it’s more of the fans that put them in contrast to each other. “

Cody Rhodes continued by explaining how looking at the data reveals that there is not nearly as much cross over between the shows as you would think and both the shows have dedicated fan base.

Apart from this, Cody also talked about AEW coming to UK in 2020, the Money In The Bank match he was a part of in 2013 and more. You can check out his full interview at this link.

The Street Profits Sign Contract Extension With WWE

WWE has announced that former NXT Tag Team Champions the Street Profits have agreed to multi-year contract extensions with the company.

This news was first announced on the latest episode of WWE Backstage and WWE has since released an official statement regarding it on their website as well.

Though the dynamic duo is not the only one to have signed a contract extension with the company in recent times and a number of stars have made similar announcements including the former WWE Champion Kofi Kingston.

Kingston had announced that he signed a new 5 years contract on the Feel The Power podcast and since then WWE has confirmed that all three members of the New Day have signed matching extensions.

With this announcement, all 5 of these talents join the list of stars who have signed contract extensions recently, including the likes of Roman Reigns, Randy Orton, The Miz, Paige, Lana and Nikki Cross.

The Street Profits, consisting of Angelo Dawkins and Montez Ford first made their NXT debut in March 2016 but they didn’t adopt their current gimmicks until their return to NXT programming in August 2017.

They started appearing on Raw in backstage segments in July this year and the duo was officially drafted to the Red Brand during the drafts in October.

The New Day Signs Matching Contract Extension With WWE

Kofi Kingston had recently confirmed on Feel The Power podcast that he signed a new contract extension with WWE and now the company has announced that all three members of the New Day have done the same.

The promotion announced on their website that the trio of Kofi Kingston, Xavier Woods and Big E have all agreed to ‘matching multi-year’ contract extensions:

“Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods solidified a pact of identical length and compensation on their contracts to maintain equal status among the team.”

While the release did not confirm the length of their new deals, Kingston had said that he has signed a new 5 years long contract with the company.

So contracts of matching length will mean that all three members of New Day will be staying with the company at least until 2024.

Out of these three, Xavier Woods is recovering from an Achilles injury. There is no solid timetable for his return but it’s said that Woods can stay out of action for 6 months to a year depending on his recovery process.

On the other hand, both Kofi Kingston and Big E are currently holding the SmackDown Tag Team Championships and they are announced for a match against Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live.

Killer Kross Announced For MLW Debut Following Impact Release

Killer Kross was released from Impact Wrestling just yesterday and now his first appearance outside of the company has been announced in form of an MLW show.

The company took on their Twitter today and announced that Kross will be making his MLW debut during the Fightland event on February 1, 2020 at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania:

https://twitter.com/MLW/status/1207835272647467008?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw

Killer Kross has made appearances for promotions such as Lucha Underground and AAA so far in his career but he is primarily known for his stint with Impact Wrestling.

He made his debut for the company in June 2018. The promotion had pushed him as one of their top stars since then and he had challenged for the Impact World title a couple of times.

Killer Kross, however, asked for his release from the company in May earlier this year and it was said that the heavyweight star was unhappy with his current pay and the creative direction of his character.

At the time, Impact Officials decided against giving him a release and the two sides continued negotiating a new deal as the expiry date for his original contract in December came close.

Impact had the option to roll his contract over for another year but the officials decided not to do so and earlier this week, they released a short statement confirming his release.

WWE Backstage Viewership Dips Below 100K Viewers

This week’s episode of WWE Backstage created a new record for low viewership and the show’s viewership numbers dropped below 100,000 for the first time since its premiere episode in November.

The show featured former Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss, Ember Moon, and William Shatner as special guests but it only drew 95,000 viewers, according to Showbuzz Daily.

This is a 24% decline from last week’s episode of the show which featured the return of special analyst CM Punk and had drawn 127,000 viewers.

The episode featuring Punk had ranked #128 on the Cable Top 150 and drew 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic. This week’s episode, however, did not make it into the Top 150 and it pulled a 0.05 rating in the key demographic.

This is the second-lowest viewership for WWE Backstage since the official premiere of the WWE series back on November 5 which had drawn 49,000 viewers.

In comparison, the episode of Monday Night Raw the night before also saw a decline in viewership and the show only brought in 2.053 million viewers, down from 2.150 million viewers of the previous week.

Now it would be interesting to see if WWE takes any steps to improve the ratings of the show and if they bring in any special star next week to give the numbers a boost.

Stone Cold Steve Austin On Who He Thinks Will Be WWE’s Next Big Star

Former NXT Champion Andrade has been impressing a lot of people with his performance in recent times and it appears that Stone Cold Steve Austin is one of them.

The Texas Rattlesnake recently had an interview with Sports Illustrate while promoting his new Broken Skull Sessions podcast on WWE Network.

During the interview, Austin was asked who he thinks will be the next big star in WWE. Replying to it, the former World Champion said that right now, the right people are at the top and he then went on to praise the former NXT star:

“Right now, the people that are on top are the people that should be on top, but I called this two years ago watching his match when he did the favors for somebody that night, and I said, ‘Man, this Andrade kid is going to be a player one of these days.’

I think he’s proving that. He still has a ways to go, but it’s just tweaking that character,” Austin said of Andrade. “The kid’s a hell of a damn worker.”

Stone Cold then went on to explain what it takes to become a star in WWE saying that the people who have tremendous success either have a gimmick very close to their own self or it’s so far away that it cannot be missed.

Apart from this, Stone Cold Steve Austin also explained that wrestling is about establishing a relationship with the audience and it’s about how you make them feel. You can check out his full interview at this link.

Cody Rhodes Talks About AEW’s Goals For 2020

2019 has been an incredible year for both Cody Rhodes and All Elite Wrestling (AEW). The company announced this week it sold over 100,000 live event tickets. This is a huge milestone for a company that had its first show in late May.

During a recent interview with TV Insider, the Rhodes opened up about the company’s performance and his goals for the year ahead.

When asked what goals they have for the promotion heading into year two, the former WWE star claimed that they will be expanding upon their mission statement of becoming an alternative to WWE.

Cody Rhodes on AEW’s Mission for 2020

“Looking at 2020, we have to expand upon the missions statement. That’s always my goal when I’m out there. The mission statement that we have to be the alternative.

We can get in the weeds on counter-programming on Wednesday nights and talk about ratings and use the word war and all that stuff, but we have to stick to our mission statement of being an alternative. Be sports-centric.”

One of the ways AEW has used to differentiate themselves from WWE is the inclusion of many different styles of wrestling in their programming, in an attempt to give everyone something to watch.

However this approach has also led to some criticism from fans and addressing this response, the AEW official said that they just want to make sure they key in their mission statement:

“That’s something people have been critical of here and there. The show is a buffet and sometimes the foods are vastly different. That can be a little offensive, but I just want to make sure we key in on our mission statement. And we key in on our outreach to fans.”

Apart from this, Cody Rhodes also talked about his ongoing rivalry with MJF and revealed that the young star has been removed from the media list by Brandi Rhodes.

Ric Flair Reveals Vince McMahon Nixed Spot At Crown Jewel

WWE teased a physical confrontation between Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan before October’s Crown Jewel pay-per-view. The angle never took place, presumably because WWE wanted to play it safe as it relates to the health of the two legends.

However, during a recent interview with WrestlingInc, Ric Flair revealed that he was in fact cleared for physical activity at the event, but the angle was nixed.

The 16 Time World Champion claimed that it was Vince McMahon who nixed the angle and explained that sometimes if you are not physically involved, you feel like you are not giving everything you have:

“I got cleared medically to do something in Saudi and then Vince nixed it,” Ric Flair revealed. “If I would have fed Roman in that huge comeback he made, or tapped Hogan, that would have been the coup de gras.”

You just wanna give them everything they paid for and sometimes if you’re not physically involved, you feel like you’re not giving everything you had if you’re not physical.”

After this revelation, Ric Flair was asked if getting cleared means that he can actually wrestle a match. Flair said yes, but said his days in the ring are over. Due to his age, and health complications, it would take him a long time to get in ring shape. At this stage, he would be happy to simply take a bump or two.

Kairi Sane Possibly Injured During TLC Main Event

It appears that Kairi Sane might have been legitimately injured during the main event of Sunday’s WWE TLC pay-per-view.

The match saw WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions The Kabuki Warriors defending the gold against Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch. All four women took big bumps during the bout.

Sane in particular was not moving well after a few high-impact moves. There were several spots where it looked like she was not conscious of her surroundings.

Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline.com provided an update on her health after the show. He revealed that she was examined by the doctors after the bout and the belief is that she suffered a concussion during the match.

It’s unknown when exactly in the match she suffered the injury. There was a spot where both Lynch and Flair were throwing monitors off of the announcers’ table and one of the pieces ended up hitting Kairi’s head. You can check out the spot below:

https://twitter.com/theBLHW/status/1206435163095199744

WWE did not officially announce Kairi Sane was injured, but did say that a medical update will be announced Monday.

We’ll keep you posted on any update on the health of Kairi Sane.

Bray Wyatt Reacts To Daniel Bryan’s Return At TLC

The TLC PPV saw Bray Wyatt defending his Universal Title against The Miz. After the match, Daniel Bryan made his return to the WWE programming with a new look and he attacked The Fiend.

After the show went off air, Wyatt reacted to the American Dragon’s return and he made the following tweet, claiming that he was excited for Bryan’s return and that no one likes a bully:

Bray Wyatt was scheduled to defend his Universal Championship against the Miz at the TLC PPV, and during the show, he came out as the sweatered version of himself usually seen in the Firefly Fun House segments rather than the Fiend.

Bray ended up defeating the A-Lister, however, he tried to attack the Miz once again with a large mallet after the match was over and this is when Daniel Bryan made his return to the WWE programming.

The former World Champion delivered his finisher to the Universal Champion and he then revealed his new clean shaved look, before continuing his attack.

Wyatt escaped this attack by leaving the ring after the lights turned off and the segment ended with Daniel standing tall in the ring. This was Daniel Bryan’s first appearance since The Fiend pulled him under the ring during a SmackDown segment a few weeks back.

Backstage News On NXT’s Involvement Into Royal Rumble 2020

NXT was given a prominent spot in the recent Survivor Series PPV and latest reports reveal that the show’s evolution into its own brand will continue at the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV as well.

Bryan Alvarez talked about the upcoming PPV on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Live and revealed that this year, the Black and Yellow brand is also being factored into the plans for the event.

While NXT stars have previously been included into Royal Rumble matches, they are usually given one or two spots in the match with no real possibility of winning the bout.

However, this year the company is planning to distribute the star power more equally and per the reports, all three brands will have 10 spots each in both the male and female Royal Rumble matches this year.

While there will be no Takeover event accompanying Royal Rumble this year, WWE has announced a Worlds Collide event which will see stars from NXT and NXT UK competing against each other the night before the PPV.

So the officials will have stars from both the rosters available in the area and it’s expected that the company will choose the list of NXT stars for the Battle Royal considering both the rosters as one, similar to Survivor Series.

The next Royal Rumble event will take place on January 26, 2020 at the Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas.

Seth Rollins Reveals His Recent Text Exchange With Jon Moxley

The relationship between the former Shield brothers Seth Rollins and Jon Moxley has been a bit tense since the former Dean Ambrose decided to leave WWE and pursue a career outside.

However, Rollins tried to squash the beef between him and the former WWE star when he recently took part in a Q&A session with Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch.

The Architect was asked about his current relationship with the AEW star and replying to the question, Seth revealed that he texted him on his birthday last Saturday:

“I texted him on his birthday, which was a few days ago, and wished him well, I hope that he’s good, and he seems to be doing great at AEW and New Japan. I wish nothing but the best for him and his lovely wife, and their great dog.”

Seth Rollins later also revealed that he got a response from Mox as well and Jon texted him back saying ‘Thanks brother!’.

The Relationship Of Jon Moxley And Seth Rollins

The relationship between the two former stablemates seem to have taken a turn for the worse since Ambrose parted ways with WWE and comments from both the stars since then have reflected this tension.

Seth Rollins was asked about Mox during an interview back in June right after he left the company and he had claimed that Dean “took his ball and went home”.

Jon Moxley, on the other hand, has not addressed the former Universal Champion directly but when asked about staying in touch with his Shield Brothers recently, Mox revealed that he exchanges text with Roman Reigns but avoided saying anything about Rollins:

“You get in the bubble. You’re busy. I mean, not really. Not so much, a little bit. You know, text Roman a little bit here and there. But he’s super busy. I mean, they’re so busy in the bubble and stuff, you know, and I’m busy, too.”

Both Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are currently busy in prominent storylines in their own respective brands. Rollins completed his heel turn this week on Raw while Ambrose is busy building up his rivalry with Chris Jericho on Dynamite.

WWE Backstage Viewership Declines Despite CM Punk Appearance

CM Punk made his awaited return to WWE Backstage this week. However, it appears that Punk is not the ratings draw that WWE or FS1 might have hoped.

WWE Backstage this past Tuesday night averaged 127,000 viewers, according to ShowbuzzDaily. This an 8% decline from last week’s episode, which did 138,000 viewers with Seth Rollins as the special guest.

CM Punk had a prominent role on this week’s show. He discussed Rollins’ recent heel turn, saying that . He also commented on the “dog food” segment from Friday’s SmackDown with Baron Corbin and Roman Reigns. Surprisingly, Punk did not hate the angle.

For comparison, the episode’s viewership is down 29% from the 180,000 viewers of the November 19th episode of the show which was Punk’s last appearance on the program.

This week’s episode was ranked at #128 on the Cable Top 150 and it pulled a 0.06 rating in the 18-49 demographic, compared to the #103 rank and a 0.08 rating last week.

It’s worth mentioning here that WWE Backstage is not the only show to have lost audience this week and the episode of Raw which aired on Monday also saw a decline in numbers.

The episode, which was the red brand’s go-home show for Sunday’s TLC PPV drew 2.150 million viewers, which was a 2.6% decline compared to the 2.208 million viewers of the previous week.

Ric Flair Reacts To News Of Batista’s Hall Of Fame Induction

Ric Flair recently had an interview with WrestlingInc, where he talked about Batista and the nWo headlining the WWE Hall Of Fame’s Class of 2020.

Flair has a relationship with all five of the announced names for the Hall Of Fame class of 2020, but one guy he knows up and close is Batista who he worked with during their time as part of the Evolution.

When asked about the Animal’s induction into the Hall Of Fame, the first two time WWE Hall Of Famer revealed that he texted him after learning about the news and he then went on to joke about a third induction for himself:

“I texted him and I think it’s great. Now we just have to get Hunter going and get Randy [Orton] who’s making too much money to get out of it so I can get my third [induction as a part of Evolution].

Certainly Dave made an impact, not only with us but as a singles and is a huge star in Hollywood. I’m happy for all of these guys that were during my career that I had the pleasure to work with.”

The former World Champion also mentioned the announced induction of nWo. He said Kevin Nash and Scott Hall revolutionized the business when they jumped to WCW.

Ric Flair On AEW Allowing Non-Scripted Promos

AEW has tried to build themselves as an alternative to WWE, and one thing they have been doing differently than the E is allowing talents to cut long, unscripted promos.

When asked about this change, Ric Flair, who is considered to be one of the best promo guys in the history of wrestling business, spoke positively about the company, mentioning Cody Rhodes’ recent promo on Dynamite:

“That’s a very positive part of their promotion. I think Jericho’s done a hell of a job. The piece they did for Cody getting ready for the championship match I thought was great. It was very true and heartfelt,”

The Dirtiest Player In The Game went on to compare Cody’s promo to the one where Roman Reigns announced his leukemia diagnosis and revealed that Reigns had learned about the same on Tuesday only 6 days prior.

Booker T On Where Luke Harper Could Be Headed After His WWE Release

The recent release of Luke Harper and other WWE stars is still a hot topic of discussion among wrestling fans and people have been talking about what the future might hold for these talents after their release from the promotion.

Former World Champion Booker T joined this conversation recently when he talked about the news on the latest episode of his Hall Of Famer podcast.

The former WCW star first talked about Harper being underutilized in the company and he then went on to claim that he sees Japan written all over him:

“I see Japan written all over this kid. I see New Japan. I see this guy working over there for many, many years getting paid some long, long, long green duckets because they love big Americans like Luke Harper in Japan, so I see Luke Harper having a great career even after WWE, making perhaps more money than he ever made in his life.”

Booker T later explained that if Luke can turn out to be like Stan Hansen, then he would be able to make a whole lot of money while working in Japan.

Apart from this, Booker T also talked about the Ascension and discussed how it’s very hard to duplicate The Road Warriors because they were the first ones to come to the ring with the face paint and shoulder gears.

Backstage Notes On Latest WWE Releases

Luke Harper finally got his release from WWE a few days ago but it appears that this decision will not affect the former Champion’s schedule in any significant way.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Radio talked about the releases recently and he revealed that all the released stars have a 90 days non compete clause in place and they will only be able to make TV appearances after that.

This means that the former Wyatt Family member and other stars will only be able to join any major promotion after March 8, 2020.

What’s interesting to note here is that Harper’s contract was originally going to expire on March 25th anyway, so his early departure does not affect his return to the free market in any major way.

Meltzer also mentioned that after the latest releases this past Sunday, more could be coming soon. He noted how several other stars have asked to be let go recently and he believes that more announcements could be on the way.

In addition to Luke Harper, WWE released Sin Cara and the former NXT Tag Team Champions Konnor and Viktor from their contracts this past Sunday.

Out of these four, both Harper and Sin Cara had asked for their release publicly with lengthy statements on social media, while on the other hand, there was no news of the Ascension asking for their release from the promotion.

TJP Explains The Level Of Micro-Management In WWE Matches

Former WWE star TJP recently did a detailed Q&A on Reddit where he talked about things like his time in the Cruiserweight Classic Tournament, if he will go back to NXT and more.

During the session, the former Cruiserweight Champion was asked about the creative process of putting together matches in WWE and he revealed that the process involves a producer going through every move they are going to do in a match before the show:

“Early in the day your producer sits down with you and a sheet of paper and insists you tell them every single move you will do and what part of the ring you will do it in.

I’ve asked constantly, especially as a 20 year guy from an older generation with a lot of experience at every level, why that’s necessary and why do they ask us to be able to “feel it out there” or etc when they don’t want that at all. They never have a real answer for that.”

The high flying star claimed that he is fine with explaining all the details too but he then went on to reveal that you receive commands even during the match and the referee is constantly repeating instructions you receive from the producers in the back.

“As I do my match, at least with the producer we had for 205 (not Hunter) I’m being told by the ref, “they’re saying slam him and grab a headlock….they’re saying get on top of him and lay in some punches….they’re saying send him into the turnbuckle and dan at the crowd…”

The former TNA star then claimed that the producers play favorites with some guys and allow them to be more creative with their bouts. Per him, in WWE your match just isn’t your match.

Though later in the session, TJP also revealed that there were some producers such as Dean Malenko and D-Von Dudley who never asked him for specific details for his matches and let him do his own thing.

Apart from this, the former WWE star also talked about winning the Cruiserweight Classic, how much money he makes in the indies compared to WWE and more. You can check out the full session at this link.

Tables Match Confirmed For TLC, Updated Match Card

After announcing the first-ever Women’s Tag Team TLC match for the Women’s Tag Team Championships, WWE has confirmed another match for the upcoming show.

This week’s episode of Raw saw Rusev and Lana being involved in a ‘divorce’ segment presided by the WWE Hall Of Famer Jerry ‘The King’ Lawler.

The couple signed their divorce papers during the segment and the whole angle ended with the Bulgarian Brute putting Bobby Lashley through a table.

After this, WWE announced a tables match between these two for the upcoming PPV event. After the announcement, here is the updated match card for the show:

Updated TLC Match Card

Raw Ends Abruptly Due To Timing Issues (Video)

It appears that this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw ended abruptly due to timing issues during the main event match between AJ Styles and Rey Mysterio.

These two were competing in the main event of the show with Mysterio’s US title being on the line. Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows were in AJ’s corner

The US Champion took both Gallows and Anderson out during the bout and then after some back and forth, AJ got on the top rope only for Mysterio to stop him.

Styles then tried to reverse Rey’s hurricanrana into a Styles Clash but he apparently botched the move and landed badly. AJ finally hit the Styles Clash after both the stars were back on the matt.

Though before the Phenomenal One can go for the pin, Randy Orton slid into the ring out of nowhere. While Randy quickly got out as well, the distraction allowed Mysterio to win the match via a roll up.

The company apparently went short on time due to the botched Styles Clash as the ending credits for the show came on screen before the match was over. The feed for the show cut as soon as Mysterio pinned Styles and announcers were still talking when it happened.

Below you can check out a fan video of the abrupt finish to the show compared to WWE’s extended version on social media which shows the difference:

While not confirmed, reports suggest that WWE is planning a match between AJ Styles and Randy Orton for the TLC PPV and the latest events on Raw seem to be pointing towards the same.
