CM Punk Spotted With Brace In Latest Photo

CM Punk has kept his silence and mostly stayed away from the public eye ever since his All Out media scrum rant and the post-show brawl.

The only update we have gotten about the AEW star has been through various reports. One such update revealed that the former AEW champion had to undergo surgery for a torn triceps.

This report was seemingly confirmed recently when a new photo of the Straight Edge Star surfaced online. In the photo with a fan as seen below, CM Punk is spotted wearing a brace on his left arm:

CM Punk Done With AEW?

There has been lots of rumors about the AEW future of the former WWE star ever since his media scrum comments led to the backstage altercation at All Out.

There are many who believe that Punk is done with the company after this and he won’t be brought back in any capacity. The belief is that AEW is taking their time to sort out any potential legal situations before releasing the 42-year-old.

The wrestling promotion itself, however, has stayed quiet on the matter. There has been no update on how the investigation on the incident is going, so it’s hard to say how the management is planning to handle Punk’s departure.

Watch: What Happened With Gunther After SmackDown Went Off Air

After the main event match between The Usos and Brawling Brutes on this week’s episode of SmackDown, fans in attendance got to witness another big dream confrontation.

The off air dark match after this week’s SmackDown saw Gunther coming face to face with Shinsuke Nakamura as they competed in a six-man tag team match.

The bout saw The Street Profits joining the Japanese legend in his fight against the current IC Champion and his subordinates Ludwig Kaiser and Giovanni Vinci.

Gunther teased a confrontation with Nakamura early in the bout but he ultimately decided to tag himself out and send in Vinci instead.

He attacked Shinsuke towards the ending of the match but the former champion managed to get the upper hand over the Ring General.

The SmackDown dark match concluded with Shinsuke Nakamura delivering a Kinshasa to Ludwig Kaiser and pinning him for the victory.

Shinsuke Nakamura was part of a backstage segment on this week’s SmackDown alongside Hit Row and The Street Profits.

Gunther has been feuding with Sheamus recently over the Intercontinental championship. The two delivered an impressive match at Clash At The Castle.

WWE has since announced a rematch between these two for the season premiere episode of SmackDown on October 7.

Heath Slater Reveals Initial Reaction To 3MB

Heath Slater was part of many different storylines in his WWE career. One such run that people still remember to this day is 3MB. While the group was never given a real chance by WWE, the trio of Slater, Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal still managed to have some fun with it. According to Heath, it’s because they were friends in real life.

The One Man Band recently spoke to News18.com. Talking about 3MB, the former WWE star revealed how the three of them reacted when the group was first put together:

“3MB was so much fun man. We had fun. Of course, it was one of those gimmicks that we were like, ‘Man what in the world are we doing,'” said Heath Slater, “but the good thing about us is that we were friends outside of the business.

We would hang out when we were not wrestling and stuff. So when they put us all together, it was just like, ‘Well, at least we’re with our buddies, we can trust these guys.’ So it was a good thing. We did our best with that.”

3MB were formed back in September 2012 when Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal interfered in Heath Slater’s match against Brodus Clay. The group had a 2-year run before being disbanded in June 2014. This came after both McIntyre and Mahal were released from their contracts.

Eric Bischoff On If He Had To Deal With Talents Going Off Script In WCW

Eric Bischoff was the head of one of the biggest wrestling companies during one of the wildest times in wrestling history. He had to deal with talents going into business for themselves every now and then. Though it was never really a big issue according to the former WCW President himself.

The wrestling veteran was asked if he ever had to deal with talents going off script during a recent 83 Weeks Q&A. Answering it, Bischoff mentioned that the WCW programming was very loosely scripted compared to WWE:

“We were very loosely scripted. It wasn’t like WWE where you get your dialogue, get your promo whatever it is and somebody is sitting in the gorilla and making sure you say every word the way it was written. It wasn’t like that. It was ‘Here’s the three or four bullet points we need. Here’s where we’re going. You need to end it with some heat, whatever. Go do it.’ It was very loosely scripted.”

‘Some Of The Best Stuff We’ve Ever Done’: Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff

Eric Bischoff then explained that there were times when people would go into business for themselves. Per the former wrestling executive, he dealt with each case individually depending on the severity:

“There were times when guys didn’t deliver what we were hoping they were gonna deliver. There were times when occasionally guys would go into business a little bit for themselves. Not completely. Not change the direction of the story or anything like that. Sometimes [they would] take liberties. That happened occasionally.

But you treated each one of them individually depending on the severity or whatever. Sometimes they made it better by the way, by going off script. Some of the best stuff we’ve ever done was probably off-script to a degree. It was never a big issue. Of course it happened, because of the nature of the way we produced.”

Brian Pillman Jr. Expresses Frustration With Creative Decision In AEW

Brian Pillman Jr. thought that the addition of Julia Hart would have made The Varsity Blondes a great babyface group. He admits that he wasn’t happy with AEW management’s decision to take her away.

The AEW star recently made an appearance on Café De René with René Duprée podcast where he talked about a number of things.

Speaking about the creative decision to take Hart away from their tag team, Pillman mentioned that they lost their edge due to the call:

“As soon as we lost [Julia Hart], we lost our edge and our spark that made us a good babyface group that could’ve gotten over. But somebody came in and decided she would be better with [House of Black]. That’s just how it goes.

I definitely wasn’t happy with it to be quite honest.” said Brian Pillman Jr, “It is what it is. It’s business. I thought probably what really stopped us from seeing the true potential of the Varsity Blondes was that we lost her before we really got going.”

The Varsity Blondes originally consisted of Pillman, Griff Garrison, and Julia Hart. Hart however aligned herself with The House Of Black at Double or Nothing in May, leaving Pillman and Garrison behind.

Julia Hart remains with the AEW stable even without Malakai Black. The Varsity Blondes on the other hand have only made a total of 5 appearances since then, including appearances on AEW Dark.

Roman Reigns Didn’t Know Logan Paul Because He’s ‘Not A 15-Year-Old Little Girl’

The Crown Jewel press conference on Saturday saw the unlikely match between Logan Paul and Roman Reigns being made official for the upcoming show in Saudi Arabia.

The event saw both sides taking shots at each other including the YouTube star claiming that he didn’t watch The Tribal Chief before.

Reigns responded to the social media celebrity in an interview with Seconds Out. He mentioned that he didn’t know who Paul was because he’s not a ’15-year-old girl’:

“Before he came here, no disrespect, I didn’t know who he was. I’m not a 15-year-old little girl, I don’t watch Logan Paul or any of the Paul/YouTube Vlog people, that’s not what I do.

So I don’t have any problems with him not watching me,” said Roman Reigns, “Because he was busy doing what he does and that’s videotaping himself doing God knows what.”

The Undisputed WWE Universal Champion then advised Paul to continue videotaping himself and leave the true professionalism to people like him.

Apart from this, Roman Reigns also talked about things such as Tyson Fury getting involved in their Clash At The Castle match and Triple H taking over WWE creative. You can watch his full interview below:

Sheamus Reveals Storyline That Helped Reignite His Passion For Wrestling

Sheamus is one of the longest-tenured stars of the current WWE roster. However, not everything he has done has been accepted by fans. The former world champion admits that his passion for the sport also wavered at times but there are a couple of things that have helped reignite it since then.

The Celtic Warrior spoke to Inside The Ropes. Talking about his longevity, he admitted that there were times when he felt that he had lost his passion a bit. According to the WWE star, his run with Claudio Castagnoli as The Bar helped get a lot of it back:

“You just stay motivated, man, you have to have the passion. I’m not gonna lie. There’s been times in my career where I felt I’ve lost that a little bit. When I started tagging with Cesaro, Claudio that got a lot of that back, when we did The Bar. I learned an awful lot from him too. Just being in the ring with him to tagging with him was great for me.”

‘Dropped Me Ego’: Sheamus

Wrestling is a physically demanding sport, and a lot of people quit because they cannot handle the physical toll of it. Sheamus explained that changing his workouts as needed has helped him stay healthy:

“I also learned a lot about like, I was lifting heavy for quite a long time. I was definitely starting to have wear and tear on my back and my neck and everything.

So I just started training smarter now as well. Dropped me ego and you know, just doing a lot more movements, stretches and the dynamic stretches that basically have kept my body loose, you know, so that’s the key as well. But I think ultimately the key is just to stay motivated and stay hungry.”

Colt Cabana Seemingly Responds To CM Punk Media Scrum Rant

CM Punk going off at Colt Cabana and the AEW EVPs turned out to be the biggest story coming out of the All Out PPV. One of the strange things about Punk’s promo were the shots he tried to take at his former best friend.

Punk revealed some previously unknown details about his court case with Cabana. During the scrum, he also strangely mentioned that the wrestling star, real name Scott Colton shares a bank account with his mother.

While Colt Cabana hasn’t responded to his former friend’s rant directly, he did make a reference to it recently. During a Twitch stream, the AEW star noted that his brother also shares a bank account with their mother:

“My brother is the director of family guy, you can look up his name, he also shares a bank account with my mother.”

– Colt Cabana

We haven’t heard from CM Punk or The Elite since the media scrum and the locker room fight. The only update has been that both Kenny Omega and The Young Bucks have been suspended from the promotion until the investigation is complete.

Punk has undergone surgery for a torn triceps in the meantime which means that he won’t be returning to the company anytime soon, if ever.

Kevin Owens Names NXT Stars He Would Call If He Needs Backup

Kevin Owens has kept an eye on the up-and-coming talents in NXT, and he knows which stars he would call if he ever needs back up.

Owens and Johnny Gargano were both the guests of the latest episode of The Bump. During the episode, KO was asked which NXT stars he would like to work with if given a chance. Replying to it, Owens mentioned how the Creed Brothers have been under the leadership of Roderick Strong as part of The Diamond Mine:

“You know, there’s a lot of really good talent over there but right now I think the Creed brothers are kind of head and shoulders above everyone else, if I’m gonna be brutally honest.” said Kevin Owens, “I really love them. I love to be in the ring with them or you know if I ever need backup, they’re probably guys I would look to. They had great leadership for a while and clearly it did them some good. They’re thriving.”

Johnny Gargano then chimed in to offer some more praise to the former NXT Tag Team Champions. He noted that the Creed Brothers know ‘the trick’ to be successful in the wrestling business:

“Speaking just from one-on-one standpoint, they also have incredible minds and are open to learn and willing to listen. They generally wanna be good at this and that is the, that’s the trick right there [for being successful].”

Current NXT Champion Confirms Engagement (Photos)

Current WWE NXT Women’s Champion Mandy Rose has confirmed her engagement with former NXT star Tino Sabbatelli.

The WWE star made the announcement on Instagram. She posted photos of her engagement ring and wrote “My heart is so full.”

Several current and former WWE stars took the time to congratulate Mandy Rose on the occasion, including Renee Paquette, Alexa Bliss, Big E and more.

The couple has been dating for at least the past 2 years. They started going out when Sabbatelli was still under a development contract in WWE.

Tino Sabbatelli was signed to a WWE contract from 2014 to 2020. He had a brief stint in AEW after his WWE release. WWE brought him back after this but he was released once again in 2021.

Mandy Rose on the other hand has been part of the WWE roster since 2015. She made her main roster debut in 2017 and joined Paige and Sonya Deville in a faction.

After 4 years on the main roster, Rose returned to the NXT brand in 2021. She formed a faction with Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne dubbed as Toxic Attraction.

Mandy defeated Raquel González at Halloween Havoc in October last year to win the NXT women’s championship. This is her first title in the company.

Anthony Henry On How CM Punk Has Treated Him In AEW

The recent backstage drama has spiked people’s interest in the behind the scene happenings of AEW. Many stories have come out about how both CM Punk and The Elite handle things behind the scenes. Atleast for Anthony Henry, Punk has treated him well the couple of times they have interacted.

The wrestling star who primarily competes in AEW Dark recently had an interview with WrestlingInc. Speaking about the Straight Edge star, Henry noted that Punk has been nice to him:

“I have talked to Punk a couple of times; he was very nice to me. Actually, when I came in, he introduced himself to me. Which – very nice. That’s a rare thing that usually doesn’t happen. But he just walked up to me like, ‘Hi, I’m Phil.”

Anthony Henry stressed that he hasn’t had any in-depth conversations with Punk so far, but to him the former AEW champion has always seemed like a ‘cool guy.’

Apart from this, Henry also talked about the AEW locker room and compared it to his experience in WWE. He said that he felt the pressure of people judging you in Vince McMahon’s promotion. According to him, it’s not the case in AEW and here everybody wants everyone else to do well.

Jake Paul Teasing Crown Jewel Appearance For Logan Paul vs. Roman Reigns

Logan Paul will be attempting to do the impossible at Crown Jewel when he challenges Roman Reigns for the Unified WWE Universal Championship.

One big problem the YouTube star will have to overcome if he wants to win the title is The Bloodline. Now it appears that he might not have to do it alone.

Logan’s brother Jake Paul recently replied to the announcement of this Crown Jewel match, and he noted that he might have to go to Saudi Arabia for this bout:

“Logan is the definition of anything is possible. 2 matches in WWE and he’s challenging for the belt. I might have to come to Saudi Arabia for this.”

Apart from being a celebrity, Jake Paul is also a boxer. He has defeated opponents such as retired MMA star Ben Askren and former UFC champion Tyron Woodley.

There is no doubt that the rest of the Bloodline will accompany Roman Reigns for his match against Logan Paul at the Saudi show.

With Jake’s boxing background, it wouldn’t be a surprise if he ends up joining the action to help even the odds and help his brother win the biggest prize in sports entertainment.

How do you feel about Logan Paul getting a shot at the undisputed title and his brother being at his side? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Sheamus On How Many Years Are Left In His Wrestling Career

Sheamus is arguably in the best stretch of his career. Each match he is competing in is turning out to be better than the last. His outings are receiving praise from fans and critics alike. The good news is that he isn’t planning to end this run anytime soon.

The Celtic Warrior recently spoke to Inside The Ropes. When asked how long he plans to continue wrestling, the former champion said that “I’m into this till the legs fall off.”

The interviewers mentioned how Sheamus came back from a career threatening injury in 2019 and he has achieved new heights since then. In response, the WWE star recalled how there was a time when people didn’t like his character. Now that people are enjoying his work, he plans to continue it for as long as possible:

“Well I hope so. There was a time there when I was a babyface when people were sick of looking at me back in 2012. The red headed ginger hair John Cena. They were calling me all this weird stuff.”

“As long as people get excited to see the Celtic Warrior go out there, I’ll just keep going as long as possible. I feel like I have got at least another 8 years in me.”

– Sheamus

Sheamus received his first 5-star rating from Dave Meltzer for his match with Gunther at Clash At The Castle. With no plans of stopping anytime soon, we can assume that this is only the first of many 5-star ratings to come for the former US champion.

Kevin Owens Opens Up About ‘Wrestler’ Promo With Drew McIntyre

The ‘wrestler’ promo between Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre a few weeks ago emphasized what WWE under Triple H will be all about. During the promo Owens declared himself as the prizefighter once again and McIntyre also claimed that he knows exactly who he is. The Scottish Warrior has since come out and admitted that the promo of Owens lit a fire under him.

Owens opened up about this promo and the credit McIntyre gave him afterward during his most recent appearance on The Bump. He noted how it seemed like Drew had lost himself in the last few years:

“What I told Drew that night, I felt that way about Drew for a long time.” said Kevin Owens, “I think he’s incredible in the ring but to me it seemed like he always tried to be something he’s not. I told him that right to his face and obviously that did something to him. Look he wants to credit me for it, I don’t want to take any credit.

I didn’t always feel that way. I thought Drew McIntyre, a few years ago, was tremendous. Then I don’t know something happened. I’m not sure what it is exactly but at one point, In the last few years, I felt like he just, I don’t know if he was more worried about coming across as a superstar, whatever it was, but I felt like he lost himself.”

‘Lot Of Respect For Drew’: Kevin Owens

Kevin Owens then mentioned how the promo lit a fire under Drew McIntyre and he has been on an incredible run ever since:

“I told him that and obviously, as he just said, it lit something under him and I’m glad it did. I feel like since then, he has been on an incredible run. He came as close as it gets to winning that title. Probably should be champion now to be honest. I look forward to being in the ring with him again. I have a lot of respect for Drew, but sometimes you just got to get stuff off your chest when you have the chance.”

Chris Jericho Reveals What He Didn’t Like About Working For WWE

One thing that attracts a lot of people towards AEW is the creative control the promotion offers. The company does not employ any writers and people are allowed to write their own promos. According to Chris Jericho, it’s the one thing that he hated about working for WWE.

Y2J discussed a number of different topics on the latest Talk Is Jericho. Speaking about the difference between Vince McMahon and Tony Khan, Jericho explained how Khan has a clarity to his vision. He then mentioned that in WWE, it wasn’t Vince McMahon who he hated working with:

“The one thing in WWE was, a lot of times they’re like ‘Draw me a picture.’ [I’m like] ‘What would you like a picture of Vince?’ ‘A cow.’ ‘Okay.’ ‘Ugh, Make it a horse.’ ‘Uh, Okay,’ ‘Umm make a dragon.’ ‘Oh okay.’ With Tony it’s like ‘We need a dragon.’ It might be a green dragon. It might be a red dragon. It might be a fire dragon.” said Chris Jericho, “At least we know where we’re going with it.

I loved working with Vince, and I did work with Vince, but it’s writers [that I don’t like]. Every Sunday, the writer would call you and say, ‘Here’s what you’re doing this week.’ That to me is just like, ‘I f*cking don’t like that, man. I don’t want to be told what I’m doing.'”

Bayley Comments On New NXT Logo

WWE unveiled a new logo for NXT during this week’s episode of the show and signaled the brand’s return to its Black and Gold roots. Like many other people, Bayley also felt good to see the show reverting back to a more familiar aesthetic.

The former Women’s Champion recently had an interview with In The Kliq. When asked about the new logo, she noted that she doesn’t know what it exactly means. Though according to the former NXT star, she is proud of the talent there regardless:

“I don’t know exactly what that means for a change. They just changed the logo back. It just felt good to see that again. But the whole roster there is killing it.” said Bayley, “I’m so proud of all the girls. I’ve been able to spend so much time there during my rehab and gotten to know a lot of the guys, gotten to know a lot of the girls. Watch them train, watch how hard they work.

So I don’t think it really matters what it’s called, whether it’s called 2.0 and it has some paint splashed on it, or whether it’s old black and gold. What they’re doing in the ring doesn’t change. They’re just making everyone proud that came from there and they’re just gonna continue to do so.”

WWE Teasing Unlikely Opponent For Roman Reigns

Many people have been wondering who Roman Reigns will face next after defeating Drew McIntyre at Clash At The Castle. WWE is now teasing the most unlikely of the opponents for the Tribal Chief.

It all started when the Unified WWE Universal champion appeared on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast. He told ‘the boys’ to acknowledge him afterwards for bringing the Island of Relevancy to the show.

Paul Heyman then responded to a command from Reigns and claimed that he will ‘bestow upon’ the wisdom that Logan Paul desperately lacks.

Roman Reigns vs Logan Paul?

When the YouTube star asked the Wiseman how he planned on doing this, Triple H intervened and invited him to SmackDown tomorrow night:

“…It just so happens I have a globally televised platform to allow our Superstars to “handle” their issues with one another … consider this an invite for #Smackdown tomorrow night!”

Logan Paul has since accepted this invitation and WWE is promoting that he will be bringing his ‘Media Megastar energy’ to the Blue Branded Show.

While not confirmed, all this seems like a set up for a potential match between Logan Paul and Roman Reigns at the Crown Jewel PPV.

Whether or not it actually happens will be revealed in future. One thing is for sure that the confrontation on SmackDown will be a very interesting one.

MJF Calls Out WWE Star For ‘Playing Top Guy’

It’s not uncommon for AEW and WWE stars to reference each other in various ways. However, two of them have decided to go a step further and engage in a verbal battle directly.

It started when Sheamus shared a spoof of the PWI Top 500 List. The list titled Pro Wrestling Banger Index 2022 had his own name repeated several times in the top spots.

This led to an exchange between The Celtic Warrior and Happy Corbin. In one of his replies, the former world champion told Corbin that ‘real heels wear scarfs.’ AEW star MJF took notice of this tweet and replied with ‘sad.’

MJF Fires Back At Sheamus

When Sheamus tweeted out a Conor McGregor GIF asking who Maxwell was, he fired back at the WWE star. The AEW talent said that the former WWE champion has been handed the ball multiple times and fell:

“The guy you alluded to. Stop now or I’m gonna devour you. You can rock 6-inch lifts and play top guy, but you’ve been handed the ball multiple times and fell. I’m glad you’re having a resurgence and finally figured out how to get over. It only took you a decade. Took me 1 day.”

This Twitter war between the two wrestling stars has continued with Sheamus claiming that he was talking about Chris Jericho and MJF replying to these claims.

While a confrontation between the two is unlikely to happen anytime soon, the war of words shows that the tensions between the two sides will continue to pick up in coming times.

CM Punk Returning To MMA Commentary Amid AEW Drama

Former AEW world champion CM Punk will be returning to MMA commentary amidst the ongoing drama that has stemmed from his media scrum comments.

Cage Fury Fighting Championships or CFFC recently announced their return to Parx Casino in Bensalem, Penn on October 8.

They revealed that the event will be main evented by a fight between Greg Velasco and Kevin Sears for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship.

The press release also confirmed that the AEW star will be a part of the show and he will call the action alongside John Morgan:

“Former All Elite Wrestling champion and two-time UFC veteran CM Punk calls the action at CFFC 113 alongside Mixed Martial Arts.com editor-in-chief John Morgan on UFC FIGHT PASS.”

The Straight Edge star has been absent from AEW programming since he called out the AEW EVPs in the All Out post-media scrum. The comments led to a backstage fight between Punk and The Elite.

Kenny Omega and others have been suspended from the company as a result. Punk was subsequently stripped of the AEW world title as well. His suspension, however, hasn’t been confirmed by any source.

The former champion has gotten surgery for a torn tricep in the meantime and he is expected to stay out of action for the foreseeable future.

‘This Guy Looks Like A Jobber’: Chris Jericho Recalls Initial Reaction To AEW Star

One thing that AEW excels at is bringing the spotlight to talented workers who haven’t received a break in the industry. One such name is Eddie Kingston. He had been wrestling for 18 years before he was brought into the limelight by the company. Chris Jericho, who has been feuding with the AEW star recently admits that he hadn’t even heard of the Mad King before he joined the promotion.

Y2J talked about it on the latest episode of Talk Is Jericho. Chris noted that at the first look of Eddie Kingston, he thought Kingston to be a jobber:

“When Cody first brought him in, I thought it was Eddie Edwards that he’s bringing in. I didn’t know who Eddie Kingston was.” recalled Chris Jericho, “[I was like] ‘Eddie Kingston, is that Eddie Edwards?’ [Cody said] ‘No, it’s Eddie Kingston. [I said] ‘Which guy is that, who is this?’

So he walked in there. Just looking at him I was like ‘God this guy looks like a jobber. Who is this guy?’ Then I watched his match and it was good, but then he did a promo and I was like, ‘Holy shit. This guy’s f*cking great. Where’s this guy been for 25 years of my wrestling career. Why do I not know this guy?’ So I kind of watched his stuff. I told him from [day one] ‘You are gonna be a huge babyface in this company.’ [Eddie’s like] ‘No I’m not [a babyface]’ I said ‘You’re babyface, just trust me.'”

Watch: What Happened With Bryan Danielson After Dynamite Went Off Air

AEW delivered another banger for the main event of this week’s episode of Dynamite. The match saw Bryan Danielson going up against Chris Jericho in the semi-finals of the tournament of champions.

At one point during this bout, Danielson got suplexed on the floor. The doctors checked on the AEW star after this spot and it looked like Bryan hurt his ankle.

The ending of the bout saw Bryan Danielson trying to roll up Chris Jericho. Jericho countered and hit a dragon screw on his opponent.

This allowed Y2J to put the Figure Four leglock but it didn’t last for long. Danielson transitioned it into the LeBell Lock. He forced the former AEW champion to submit to win the match.

After Bryan Danielson’s win, the other tournament finalist Jon Moxley came out and confronted the fellow BCC member. The show ended with the two shaking hands and exchanging words.

What Happened After Dynamite

While both Mox and Jericho went back to the locker room after this, Bryan Danielson took some time. The crowd applauded him as he got out of the ring.

Danielson stopped by the AEW world title that was at the ringside. He picked up the championship belt to a huge pop from the crowd.

The former WWE star re-placed the title before heading to the back. William Regal came forward to help him but Bryan declined the support. He went to the locker room on his own while selling the injury:

Chris Jericho Discusses Cody Rhodes’ Decision To Never Challenge For AEW Title

Cody Rhodes was one of the top stars of AEW when the company kicked off. Everybody was sure that he would be a world champion in the promotion one day until he made the decision to never challenge for the title. The former AEW EVP announced this stipulation for his match against Chris Jericho at Full Gear 2019. His loss has left a lot of people puzzled to this day.

The latest Talk Is Jericho episode was a recording of The Jericho Chronicles from Glasgow. Chris spoke about Cody’s decision to never challenge for the top title of the company he helped build. Jericho mentioned that Rhodes probably wanted people to understand that he wouldn’t take advantage of his power:

“He was adamant. I’m still not too sure why he you put that rule that he can never challenge for the world title again. For whatever reason, that was completely his idea.” said Chris Jericho, “I guess maybe he wanted people to know that he wasn’t just gonna win the title. He wanted to be the face of the company.

We’re all faces of the company but he really embraced the EVP part of it. The other guys kind of did it in the shadows, but he was doing it on camera and all that sort of thing. So I think he wanted people to understand that he wasn’t gonna take advantage of this position that he was in and he did the ‘I’ll never fight for the world title.'”

Cody Rhodes has admitted in later interviews that the call was a mistake. It probably was the inspiration behind Rhodes’ decision to leave AEW and return to WWE.

Roman Reigns On Dealing With Hate On Internet

Roman Reigns was one of the most polarizing figures in the wrestling world for the longest time. Avid supporters believed in WWE’s decision to make him the next face of the company but there were many who refused to accept him as the leading star. Such people targeted him relentlessly through various social platforms for a long time.

The Tribal Chief opened up about this hate while appearing on the Impaulsive podcast. He first discussed how, unlike old times, he never had to deal with haters in real life:

“I’ve been fortunate. The hate, we talked about earlier where it can get crazy. Even when it was at its worse, nothing ever happened in real life. It’s all respect and love in real life but on that Internet, boy they will spew some [shit]. They’ll come in with some negativity on the internet. But in real life, never.”

‘Waste Of Breath’: Roman Reigns

Speaking about the criticism on the internet and how he deals with it, Roman Reigns mentioned that he used to lose his cool back in the day but it’s not the case anymore:

“Early on I had, I think I had like a elevated way of thinking about it, but as a human, you’re like I’m gonna clap back on this guy and then you get a little pop from a few thousand people that are with you.

You make someone famous for 15 minutes on the internet and then it’s like, Well, I’m kind of a jerk for doing that. So now it’s just character stuff only. Yeah, I’m not responding to haters or trying to clap back. It’s funny for a second but at the same time it’s just a waste of breath.”

Roman Reigns On How Paul Heyman Pairing Came Together

Paul Heyman is one of the most successful managers in the history of the wrestling business. He has worked with some of the top talents the industry has seen. Heyman’s pairing with Roman Reigns helped take the Tribal Chief character to a level that very few performers have been able to reach in their careers.

The Head of The Table opened up about this pairing on the Impaulsive podcast. Explaining how the partnership came together in August 2020, Reigns revealed that Heyman was free at the time since Brock Lesnar was in between contracts. However, he stressed that Paul wouldn’t have joined in if it was anyone else:

“Brock was in between contracts. So Paul was kind of wide open and it just fit. He had that opening creatively. He was still just working behind the scenes from a creative standpoint. When you’re working with someone like Brock for as long as he did with the success that they had, you need to have something that’s legitimate come through to make that move. I think I was really the only one that he wanted to work with.

Otherwise, I think he would just stay kind of plugged in and be helping from overall directive standpoint. Once he knew ‘Oh I’m going to be with Joe, it’s all good. I’m gonna be with Roman, it’s all good.’ Then we knew it was on.”

‘It’s Hard Not To Learn’: Roman Reigns

Paul Heyman has been on the top of the wrestling business for decades. Anyone who wants to be successful in the industry can learn a lot from the former ECW owner. When asked what he has learned from the Mad Scientist of Wrestling, Roman Reigns noted that he has been learning things from Heyman even before he joined the wrestling business:

“I was learning from Paul before I was with Paul. He was with my family for decades before I even got in the business. So I’m always learning from Paul. It’s not even just wrestling stuff like business stuff. I pick up stuff just talking father to father.

There’s a lot of different things you can learn from a Paul Heyman because there’s the life experience. Especially within our business, he’s just been at the very top of that mountain for so long as a promoter, as a talent, as a manager. There’s just been so many roles that he’s fulfilled, and he does it at an elite level that it’s hard not to learn from someone like him.”
