Baron Corbin Believes Madcap Moss Can Challenge Roman Reigns In Future

Madcap Moss is one of the fastest rising stars on the WWE roster. His storyline with Baron Corbin has helped the young star evolve past his days as the 24/7 champion and develop a personality fans can get behind. Corbin who has served as a mentor to Moss in many ways, believes that the former NXT star can realistically challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed Title in not-too-distant future.

The Lone Wolf recently appeared on Out of Character. The host Ryan Satin mentioned how Madcap has reached a new level in the last few months. Agreeing with it, Corbin explained that Moss has developed his personality compared to his initial days on the main roster:

“Absolutely. His personality is there which is important. Before he was just kind of like a call man, it was like a guy you created on 2K [who] you played with.” said Baron Corbin, “It was just Joe Somebody, but now his personality has really come through. It’s allowed him to show who he really is.”

He continued, “I think this whole thing, the evolution of Madcap Moss has really done good for him. I think he’s gonna be a star. I think he’s a guy that six months from now could be going to face Roman Reigns for WWE championship. I can see it now. With his ability, his in-ring work, and his psychology that he’s learned and done and then just his character development.”

Corbin is not alone as Paul Heyman has previously said that nobody has a clue about Moss’ talent and he will be a future main eventer.

John Laurinaitis Put On Administrative Leave By WWE

The Head of WWE Talent Relations John Laurinaitis has been placed on administrative leave in light of the accusations made against him and Vince McMahon recently.

PWinsider is reporting that the promotion issued a memo to the talent after this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw went off air, informing them of the change.

The memo noted that Bruce Prichard will be working as the interim Head of Talent Relations in the absence of Laurinaitis. Prichard will provide a ‘seamless transition’.

The news of WWE board investigating Vince McMahon came out earlier last week. It was said that Mr McMahon had an affair with a former employee. The board was investigating a $3 million dollar pact he made with her.

John Laurinaitis was also named in the report. A source claimed that the former WWE chairman passed the woman onto his executive “like a toy.”

McMahon stepped down as the CEO of the company after the investigation became public. He named his daughter Stephanie McMahon the interim CEO.

It has previously been said that creatively, everything flows through Bruce Prichard. He is the most powerful person in WWE other than a McMahon family member.

This change now brings even more power to Prichard who was only brought back by the company in an executive role in 2019.

William Regal Credits Vince McMahon with Saving His Life In 1999

William Regal believes that the WWE chairman Vince McMahon unknowingly helped save his life when the company paid for his surgery during the Attitude Era.

The former NXT General Manager recently had an interview with Gentleman Villain podcast. Among other things, he talked his relationship with the WWE owner.

The AEW star claimed that he never tried to get too friendly with Mr McMahon. Regal always knew that McMahon was his boss:

“I’ve always known he’s my boss, so I have never got too friendly with him because I knew one day, he might want to fire me. I’ve had an incredible, always polite, great working relationship with him,”

‘I Owe Him My Life’: William Regal

Though despite getting released from the promotion, William Regal claimed that he will always have a loyalty towards the WWE owner. This is because he authorized a surgery in 1999 without which Regal believes he would have died:

“So, I owe him my life. When I had my neck surgery, he might not have even known but it was his company that paid me to get the best surgeon, the only surgeon in the world who could do the surgery that I needed,”

William Regal was released from WWE earlier this year after over two decades with the company. He has since joined AEW and formed a faction with Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta.

Former WWE Referee Tim White Has Passed Away

Former WWE referee Tim White has passed away at the age of 68.

The wrestling veteran started his career in the industry back in 1985. He originally worked as a handler with Andre The Giant while also officiating matches occasionally.

White later transitioned to a full-time referee role. He officiated many famous matches during the Attitude Era including the 1998 Hell In A Cell match between Undertaker and Mankind at King of The Ring.

WWE sent out an official statement on his passing mentioning how the late star had to retire from his on-screen role due to a shoulder injury but he remained a major part of the promotion until 2009.

Wrestling World Mourns The Passing of Tim White

News On John Laurinaitis’ Absence From SmackDown

This week’s episode of SmackDown featured the return of some big names including Vince McMahon and Roman Reigns. Though one notable name who was not present at the show was John Laurinaitis.

The Head of Talent Relations has been named alongside the WWE owner in a latest scandal that accuses McMahon of having an affair with a former employee.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer talked about Laurinaitis recently. He explained that his absence from SmackDown is not necessarily newsworthy.

Despite some rumors, the WWE Executive was never scheduled to be in Minneapolis for the show. John Laurinaitis is, however, expected to be in Lincoln, NE for Raw.

Meltzer also noted how things are going to be different for him compared to Vince McMahon. The former WWE CEO would be harder to get rid of compared to John.

So if Laurinaitis does not make it to the arena for Monday’s episode of Raw then it might be an indication about his future with the promotion.

In the meantime, Vince McMahon is said to be in a great mood despite the accusations made against him. His appearance on this week’s SmackDown also seems to have helped the show boost the ratings compared to last week.

SmackDown Viewership With Vince McMahon Promo

While the reactions to Vince McMahon’s return to SmackDown were largely negative, it appears to have helped the show with the ratings.

The June 17 edition of the Blue Branded show featuring the Universal championship match between Roman Reigns and Riddle in the main event drew 2.274 million viewers according to Spoiler TV.

This is a big increase from last week’s show. The episode featuring Sami Zayn vs Riddle for the main event had drawn 1.803 million viewers.

The first hour of the show that featured the promo from Vince McMahon among other things drew 2.186 million viewers. The second hour, featuring the big title match then saw an increase in viewership with 2.362 million people tuning in.

As for the key 18-49 demographic, the episode managed to score a 0.55 rating, which is again an increase from last week’s 0.44 number.

On YouTube, the surprise return of Brock Lesnar at the end of the show is far ahead of other videos from the show with over 2.2 million views at the moment.

The Roman Reigns vs Riddle main event is at 1 million views and the unlisted video of Vince McMahon’s TV return is at 990K views. All other videos are below 500k.

Mercedes Martinez Describes Difference Between WWE And AEW

AEW has been described as the land of creative freedom by many. According to Mercedes Martinez, the biggest difference compared to WWE is how accessible and receptive Tony Khan is.

The wrestling veteran recently had an interview with Complex Unsanctioned podcast. Among other things, she talked about the difference between WWE and AEW.

Martinez discussed how the AEW owner is busy man. Despite it, he is very accessible and responsive to talents:

“I can text him, I can message him whenever I want, If I have ideas or anything, he’s as accessible as he can be. That’s a big difference going from WWE to here.”

Mercedes Martinez noted that Khan is the one that makes the decisions. So the fact that he listens to people’s concerns is a great thing:

“He’s the boss, he’s the man, he’s the one that makes the decisions, and the fact that he listens to you and your concerns and whatever you have for creative, [it’s great]. I love that creative freedom you have to tell your story where you see fit.”

Mercedes Martinez is a 22-year veteran of the wrestling industry. She has worked for all major promotions in the US in this time. This list includes WWE, AEW, ROH, Impact Wrestling and many more.

Vince McMahon’s SmackDown Promo Described As ‘Tone Deaf And Embarrassing’

Vince McMahon opened this week’s episode of SmackDown with a short promo. While many expected him to address the allegations made against him, the boss just welcomed the fans.

Fightful revealed that he talked to a number of current and former WWE stars about the appearance. The reactions to it range from ‘confused to enraged’.

An unnamed WWE talent told the site that Mr McMahon’s promo was ‘tone-deaf and embarrassing.’ Furthermore, a former WWE star claimed that it shows that Vince McMahon does not have any accountability:

“I’m happy it didn’t last long, so I didn’t have to sit through whatever bullshit he was going to say. But it shows that he has no accountability, especially when something is directly his fault.”

– Unnamed WWE source, to Fightful

The public reaction to Vince McMahon’s promo has largely been negative. Though the WWE owner himself seems unfazed by the opinions against him.

The wrestling veteran was said to be in ‘great mood’ before the SmackDown tapings. He was ‘making jokes’ in the production meeting.

It’ll be interesting to see how the announced McMahon appearance affected the SmackDown viewership and if it helped give the show a boost amid all the speculations about his future.

Released Star Is Glad To Not Be Working In WWE

Former WWE star Aiden English, currently working in Impact wrestling as Matthew Rehwoldt says that he is glad that he is not working for the Vince McMahon-owned promotion anymore.

WWE has found themselves being subject to many negative headlines in recent days. This includes Sasha Banks and Naomi walking of the company because of their frustrations last month.

If that wasn’t enough, the WWE CEO Vince McMahon was accused of having an affair with a former employee. The scandal has led to him temporarily stepping down from his position as the chairman of the company.

English seemingly reacted to these developments on Twitter. He noted how he was heartbroken when he was first released but it’s not the case anymore:

https://twitter.com/DramaKingMatt/status/1537953123347488769

Aiden English was first signed by WWE back in 2012. He originally gained fame as part of The Vaudevillains tag team in NXT.

He later found success as the partner and manager of Rusev. Their pairing quickly became a fan favorite with their catchphrase Rusev Day becoming very popular.

English was one of the first stars to be released as part of the budget cuts during the initial days of the COVID-19 pandemic. He was released on April 15, 2020 and has since returned to independent circuit.

Andrade Reveals Big Forbidden Door Match He Was Booked For

Andrade has been expressing his displeasure with being pulled off the Forbidden Door PPV vocally. He has now revealed the original plans for him at the show.

The AEW star recently had an interview with Lucha Libre Online. He talked about things such as Ric Flair’s upcoming retirement match and more.

During the talk, he also revealed that he was actually supposed to face the current IWGP US Champion Will Ospreay at the Forbidden Door PPV.

Andrade mentioned that he was scheduled to go to Japan to build up this match against the former IWGP world champion before the plans were canceled.

The former NXT champion also claimed that he was originally booked for the AAA’s TripleMania Tijuana event on June 18 but that appearance has been nixed as well.

Andrade noted how he cannot work with NJPW because he chose to work with AAA. Now AAA is also not booking him when they said they would. This has resulted in him sitting at home while everyone else is headed to Tijuana.

For those who don’t know, AAA is a rival promotion to CMLL. Since CMLL and NJPW have a partnership, they are prohibiting any AAA contracted talents from working the co-branded Forbidden Door PPV. Apart from Andrade, this also includes The Lucha Bros who are not booked for the upcoming show.

Vince McMahon Was In ‘Great Mood’ Before SmackDown

Many were expecting Vince McMahon to address the allegations against him during his appearance on tonight’s SmackDown episode.

Though the boss did not say anything about the rumors surrounding him during his TV appearance. He also apparently no-sold the accusations behind the scenes as well.

Per reports from PWInsider, there was nothing unusual with the proceedings at SmackDown. You wouldn’t have figured out that Mr McMahon was under investigation by just being backstage at the tapings.

As for the boss, the site notes that he was not selling anything. Vince McMahon was described as being in ‘great mood’ and he was ‘joking around’ during the production meeting before the show.

There were whispers among people that the WWE owner will be addressing the talents before the episode but nothing was said.

Several sources described the pre-show meeting as ‘weird’ given the circumstances, especially because nobody knows when more details on the allegations can surface.

Some people were wondering how many more NDAs were uncovered during the investigation and how many others could be out there.

Stephanie McMahon has been named the interim chairwoman after her father voluntarily stepped down from the role. You can check out the backstage reaction to this change here.

WWE Thinks They Can ‘Clone’ Sasha Banks (Report)

Sasha Banks has a unique persona that makes her stand out among other competitors in WWE. Though the officials of the company feel that they can replicate her success with any star they choose.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men podcast recently talked about the former women’s champion. He first confirmed yesterday’s news that her attorneys were working on getting her off the WWE contract.

Regarding the perceived value of Banks, Zarian explains that WWE views Sasha as someone who they can ‘clone’ with a competitor of their choice:

“In their minds, they could clone Sasha with somebody else and have her fit that role, and no problem. It is now a role you are playing.”

– Andrew Zarian

“It’s a role with mid-level actors,” he added. ”Everybody’s a mid-level actor, except for a Roman Reigns, or a Brock Lesnar, or a Cody Rhodes. Those guys are the stars.”

He also discussed the possibility of the two parties coming to an agreement. Zarian said that right now, he does not see Sasha Banks going back.

After the initial reports of the former champion’s release earlier yesterday, latest updates on the matter suggest that her departure has not been made official just yet. Though in the current circumstances, it only appears to be a matter of time.

Top Indie Star Confirms Turning Down Tony Khan’s AEW Offer

Killer Kross has confirmed the reports about having talks with AEW owner Tony Khan earlier this year about a potential debut. The former NXT champion recently had an interview with Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling podcast. He first claimed that he is open to working with anybody as long as he is genuinely interested.

Kross also confirmed the rumors of having discussed potential opportunities with Khan. He said he liked the AEW owner and mentioned how many people would have jumped on the opportunity:

“I like the guy. There’s a lot of people who upon getting that phone call would’ve just taken his money, and maybe they’re in a position where they absolutely have to.”

Though Killer Kross did not go into details of his talks with Tony Khan, claiming that “some conversations are meant to be private.” The former WWE star explained that the ideas he heard weren’t the best fit for him. He said that he is going to be honest when he feels that an idea is not suited for him.

While Kross did not reveal any details about their talks, reports that came out last month suggested that AEW did not want to bring in Scarlett Bordeaux with him. The heavyweight star felt that without his wife, his AEW debut would have been no different than how he was treated on WWE’s main roster.

Ronda Rousey Explains Remarks About Wrestling Being ‘Fake’

Ronda Rousey has explained her remarks about pro wrestling being fake, saying that its predetermined nature makes the sport a lot less stressful. The former UFC star recently appeared on The Kurt Angle Show. She first claimed that she is not afraid of injuries because they happen in every sport.

Rousey then mentioned how people got offended by her remarks. She explained that it’s not the physicality that makes something real:

“I don’t think pro wrestlers understand how much that it helps because a lot of times I’ll hear people be so offended that like, ‘How dare you call this fake! There’s no fake way to go through a table,’ or ‘This injury is real.’ And I’m like, ‘You guys, it’s not like the physical toll that makes something real.'”

‘It The Anxiety And Uncertainty Of The Result’: Ronda Rousey

Troy Donovan Reacts To WWE Release

Troy “Two Dimes” Donovan was unexpectedly released from his NXT contract earlier this week, but he appears to be in good spirit despite it.

The now former WWE star reacted to his departure from the promotion on Twitter. He thanked the people who reached out to him and called his release ‘a bump in the road’ that doesn’t define him:

“Thank you to everyone who’s reached out.” wrote Troy Donovan, “Mistakes happen and lessons are learned. A bump in the road doesn’t define me though. I’ll be back.”

The young star previously known as Cole Karter in the independent circuit was signed by WWE in March. He had recently joined Tony D’Angelo’s stable in NXT alongside Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo.

After his unexpected WWE firing, it was reported that Donovan wasn’t let go because of budget cuts like many other in recent months. His release was instead attributed to an undisclosed policy issue.

Reports also suggested that the former NXT star could be brought back by the company in a year or so. The latest tweet from the young prospect also suggests that he hasn’t given up on his wrestling career after his release.

Though there aren’t enough details available about Troy’s WWE release to say whether or not we can expect him to be back in WWE.

Sonny Kiss Opens Up About Lack Of TV Time In AEW

The recent spree of AEW signings has made it hard for the promotion to feature all stars in the limited TV time they have. This has left names such as Sonny Kiss desiring more from the promotion.

While she has been competing on Dark every now and then, the AEW original has not wrestled a televised match since October 2020.

Kiss opened up about this during a recent interview on FaceTurn. She mentioned how there’s been a petition going on to give her more opportunities. Sonny said that she would love to be used more in general:

“I think there was honestly like, essentially like a petition kind of going on, I would love to be used more in general. I feel like eventually, it’ll happen. I have been trying my best to be patient, wait my turn.”

Despite her lack of TV time, Sonny Kiss continues to inspire people as one of the most prominent LGBTQ+ names in the wrestling world. She discussed how people look up to her and how thankful she is for it:

“People come up to me and they cry and they tell you like, how much you mean to them, I will never get used to that, I can’t express in words how thankful I am to have the position I have despite the lack of representation.”

Sonny Kiss signed with AEW in February 2019. She made her debut for the promotion during their inaugural Double or Nothing PPV in May 2019. She has wrestled on Dynamite a number of times but never picked up a pinfall victory.

AEW No Longer Promoting Jeff Hardy For Dynamite Match

Jeff Hardy’s latest DUI arrest became the trending topic of discussion among fans yesterday. It also stemmed questions about his immediate future with AEW.

If the latest developments are any clue, we can expect the wrestling veteran to stay off the AEW programming at least for the foreseeable future.

The Hardy Boyz were originally scheduled to compete in a three-way ladder match against The Young Bucks and Jurassic Express on this week’s episode of Dynamite.

However, the latest tweet from AEW promoting the episode features no mention of this bout. It suggests that the ladder match has at least been put on hold for now:

AEW’s Latest Edict On Jeff Hardy

If that wasn’t enough, Dave Meltzer of F4wonline is reporting that AEW has asked WarnerMedia to stop all promotions related to Jeff Hardy including any commercials.

The wrestling promotion has not made any official comments about the former world champion’s arrest. Though these moves suggest that they are not happy with the latest developments.

Jeff Hardy was arrested early Monday morning in Volusia County, Florida. He was charged with being intoxicated while driving as well as driving without a license.

The Attitude Era star has since been bonded out of jail but it appears that this is only the beginning of his troubles. Hardy is slated to appear in court on Tuesday at 1:30 PM.

Toni Storm Reveals Pitched Love Triangle Storyline In WWE

WWE had talked about putting Toni Storm in a love triangle storyline with Rick Boogs and Dolph Ziggler before her release from the company.

The AEW star recently appeared on Chris Jericho’s Talk Is Jericho podcast. She discussed things such as her debut for Tony Khan’s promotion and more.

Storm was not used on TV for the most part of her main roster career. Though she revealed a storyline idea that was pitched during her early days:

“There was bits and pieces here and there, like, ‘Oh, you’re in love with Rick Boogs and the love triangle with Dolph Ziggler,’ and that never really went anywhere. Just bits and pieces here and there.”

After spending most of her time sitting in catering, Toni Storm finally got into a storyline with Charlotte. However, it wasn’t enough to keep her around:

“Then I was working with Charlotte and stuff seemed to be picking up from there, but then, with a lot of contributing factors, kind of just led to me saying, ‘You know what? I can’t f*cking do this anymore'”

Toni Storm requested her WWE release in December last year. She made her AEW debut almost 3 months later on March 30.

Road Dogg Addresses Rumors About His WWE Release

Brian ‘Road Dogg’ James is one of the most prominent backstage figures released by WWE this year. Some people wondered if his departure was related to Triple H losing power in the company.

The Game had to step away from WWE due to heart issues last year. The company has revamped the NXT brand since then and released numerous key members of his team.

Road Dogg addressed the rumors of his release being related to it during an interview with ITRWrestling.com. He noted how WWE released over a dozen people on the day he was let go and it probably saved the company $5 to $10 million per year:

“So from a business perspective, ‘Hey, we got to trim some fat down there.’ Now, if by trimming that fat, my name came into play because I was a Hunter guy. I can’t speak to that and I don’t think that would be the case.”

Per Road Dogg, the officials must have decided to just cut down people who were making the most money. He also revealed that he talked to Vince McMahon after his WWE release and thanked him:

“These are the people that are making the most money, to be quite honest with you, but how else do we trim the fat? Vince and I spoke after that via text and it’s all gravy, I thanked him for the ten years of life experience and ten years’ worth of pay.”

The former WWE star recently had an interview with Sportskeeda. He discussed the Nature Boy’s decision to wrestle one final match later this year.

Brisco gave words to the fear of a lot of fans. He mentioned how Flair has a pacemaker installed in his heart and a wrong bump can lead to catastrophic results:

“He’s got a damn pacemaker and it worries me. I’ve talked to doctors and a certain bump in the wrong direction, or a certain chop or something like that, and that thing can dislodge and he can drop dead.

I don’t want to see Ric Flair drop dead.” said Gerald Brisco, “I don’t want to be a part of that. I wish him well.”

The wrestling veteran noted that this is the worst-case scenario and Ric Flair will probably get through the match with flying colors.

WWE Struggling To Sell Tickets For Tonight’s Raw

WWE appears to be struggling to sell the tickets for this Monday’s episode of Raw from the Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas.

According to WrestleTix Twitter account, the company has sold a little over 3000 tickets for the show as of a few hours ago.

This is the lowest number of ticket sales for the red branded show since the company returned to touring last year in July.

The next closest number is 3,995 for an episode which took place from the Chase Center in San Francisco, California. The main event of that show saw Drew McIntyre teaming up with Big E to face The Usos.

The blue-branded show featured a confrontation between the Undisputed Champion Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar among other things.

WWE has since announced a couple of segments for the upcoming Raw episode. The first is Seth Rollins explaining his actions against Cody Rhodes.

The other segment will see Judgement Day revealing what’s next for the group. This comes after they introduced Finn Balor as their newest member and kicked out Edge from the faction last week.

John Cena Recalls Meeting With Vince McMahon Before WWE Debut

John Cena has developed a good relationship with Vince McMahon in the 20 years since his WWE debut. Though his first meeting with the boss was very short and awkward. WWE is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Cenation Leader’s main roster debut this month. As part of it, they recently posted a video of the Hollywood star reflecting on his first main roster match against Kurt Angle.

In the video, Cena revealed that he found out about his bout in the afternoon of the show. He also detailed a meeting he had with Mr McMahon before the match:

I had one meeting with Mr. McMahon before this.” recalled John Cena, “I was pushed into his office and Michael Hayes asked like ‘What do we do with this?’ Mr. McMahon’s first sentence to me, it was a short meeting. He said ‘Cut his f*cking hair.’ Then I was out of the office.”

The 16-time world champion went on to discuss his match with the Olympic Gold Medallist. He noted how the crowd wasn’t as interested in the match as he would have liked. Cena said that if he was doing it now, he would have slowed down and tried to tell a story during the segment.
