Bron Breakker is ready to put the NXT championship in line against Dolph Ziggler. He has put the ball in the show off’s court for a potential title match.
The current NXT champion took on his Twitter on Monday. He told the main roster star that he can come down to NXT to get a shot after Santos Escobar:
“@HEELZiggler mentioned coming to NXT and taking my title.” wrote Bron Breakker, “You want the next shot after Santos come on down. Your move #Iwillsayittoyourface”
@HEELZiggler mentioned coming to NXT and taking my title. You want the next shot after Santos come on down. Your move #Iwillsayittoyourface
For those who don’t know, it all started when Ziggler teased a confrontation with the NXT star in a backstage video after Monday Night Raw last week.
Bron Breakker responded to this via a tweet. He also made a Ziggler reference on the following episode of the developmental brand saying that he “doesn’t work Tuesdays.”
Bron Breakker is currently scheduled to defend his belt against Santos Escobar at the NXT Vengeance Day special on February 15. We will see if Ziggler shows up to confront the current champion at the show.
In today’s age, the competition is fierce among not only the wrestling promotions but their fans as well. So much so that people want wrestlers who work for their favorite company to hate the talents of the competing organization. Though people like AJ Styles don’t agree with this sentiment and they want everyone to succeed.
The Phenomenal One recently had an interview with Ryan Satin for his Out Of Character podcast. They discussed how WWE brought Mickie James for Royal Rumble. When asked which stars he would like to see come into the WWE through the forbidden door, AJ took the name of The Good Brothers:
“Gallows and Anderson. Because you know they’re my boys. I enjoy being around them. It’d be fun. No matter where you work, we still are all friends and people want us to hate each other so much it’s crazy. There’s so many other guys and girls that we’d love to see back in WWE just for a moment.”
The former world champion was then asked about this notion from the fans that stars from one company should hate the competitors from a different promotion. AJ Styles said that while he understands why the fans want it, he genuinely want people from other promotions to succeed. He explained that a lot of them are his friends and competition is good for everyone:
“I mean, I get it because they don’t like WWE or they don’t like the other competitors. They want it to be like that. The truth is, my best friends work in, you know, AEW or Impact Wrestling. I genuinely love the guys. So we want to see them succeed. We want [them] to do well. We both know that competition is good for everyone. So we want to see everyone succeed.
Even as a performer, you should want to kick you know, whoever is in your top slot’s butt, because that reflects on you. You’re doing well if you’re doing that, that’s not a bad thing. That’s a good thing. It makes everybody turn your game up a little bit more. Freaking have a little bit more fun.”

There are a lot of superstars who have had unpleasant experiences with WWE and Vince McMahon. However, AJ Styles is not one of them.
The Phenomenal One recently had an interview with WrestlingInc. He discussed being scared that nobody would know him before his Royal Rumble debut and more.
Speaking of the boss, Styles mentioned how he had heard a lot of negative stories about Mr McMahon before joining WWE, but they get along great:
“I love it, so many things I had heard about him in the past, and then I go and meet this man, and we get along great. It’s one of those things if you go up to him and you’re honest, and you’re professional, you have no problems.”
AJ Styles also discussed the belief that all WWE stars have to memorize the promos given to them word for word. He claimed that it’s not the case with him and he makes changes based on his character:
“There’s a lot of things being said about that, and I’ll just make sure everybody knows the facts. I don’t say it word for word. I do not do it.”
After being part of a tag team with Omos for the majority of 2021, AJ Styles has broken up with the giant. He is now a singles competitor again and is rooting for a match with Edge at WrestleMania.
There have been a lot of speculation on the wrestling future of the 54-year-old after the upcoming show. Now the former Universal champion himself has provided a hint about his involvement in the business afterward.
In the Goldberg at 54 documentary the premiered on the WWE Network over the weekend, the former WCW star said that he never imagined he would get this opportunity. He is more than willing to continue to learn and be part of the industry:
“I never imagined there would still be an opportunity,” said Goldberg. “I never imagined that there would still be the desire for me to go out and do what I did when I was on top. So things change people, change and situations change.”
He added, “I may be 54 but I really am more than willing to continue to learn about this business” said Goldberg, “and as long as I have something to offer it, then, you know, I’ll still be a part of it.”
While there is no official word on how WWE management feels about possibly re-signing the former WCW star after the upcoming PPV, they have years left on their deal with the Kingdom Of Saudi Arabia.
With Goldberg being one of the last big attractions left of the Attitude Era, it wouldn’t be a surprise if the company finds value in keeping him around just for the overseas events alone.
A free agent signing will debut on Wednesday’s edition of AEW Dynamite from Atlantic City. The AEW newcomer will wrestle Private Party member Isiah Kassidy in a Face of the Revolution Ladder Match qualifier.
The identity of Kassidy’s opponent is a mystery, but AEW President Tony Khan has teased this wrestler will walk through the “Forbidden Door.”
Khan noted on Twitter that the Forbidden Door competitor can come from any promotion in the world, whether that company is on good terms with AEW or not. He also teased this person could be from a company that’s “open for business” – a phrase Triple H has used about WWE on several occasions.
The Forbidden Door can be opened for anyone from any wrestling promotion in the world, whether or not it’s a company @AEW is on good terms with, even if it’s someone from a company that’s open for business. They’re also welcome to slam the door in the face of their prior company.
A number of former WWE superstars become free agents last week, so there’s no shortage of people who could show up this coming Wednesday. It could be Keith Lee, Johnny Gargano, Killer Kross or someone else entirely.
On Sunday, Isiah Kassidy commented on his to-be-announced Forbidden Door opponent. Kassidy says, “This better not be who I think it is… Y’all gonna force me to put this dude out for good.”
He also teased that his Hardy Family Office boss Matt Hardy was ignoring him, a sign that Hardy’s priorities might be shifting beyond Private Party.
I was good, but Sammy was better on Friday. Respect g.
But aye man, this better not be who I think it is… Y’all gonna force me to put this dude out for good ?
The Face Of The Revolution Ladder takes place at the upcoming AEW Revolution PPV on March 6th from Orlando, FL. The winner of the match earns the right to challenge the AEW World Champion at a future date.
Windham Rotunda better known to WWE fans as Bray Wyatt has appeared online in some new photos. In the pics, he is looking trim and refreshed, compared to his WWE days.
Disney head writer Rob Fee recently got married to comedian and actor Ariana Basseri. A number of wrestling personalities were invited to their wedding ceremony,
Among the invitees was the former WWE star John Morrison. The former IC champion shared some photos from the wedding on Twitter. What’s interesting is that the pictures also featured Wyatt among others:
AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MFJ) also sent out a hilarious in character wish to the newlywed couple. He wished Rob best of luck in his future endeavors.
The latest from Bray Wyatt
Bray Wyatt was surprisingly released from his WWE contract in July last year. This ended the former world champion’s 12-year-long tenure with the promotion.
The Fiend has since decided to take a break from wrestling. He is set to make his Hollywood debut with an untitled horror film that has already started shooting.
The former champion has also been announced for the WrestleCon 2022 during the WrestleMania week. It will be interesting to see if he makes his in-ring return during or before the event as well.
Laredo Kid has been a regular for Impact Wrestling in recent months. He has now officially signed a contract with the promotion.
The high-flying star recently had an interview with Darren Paltrowitz. He discussed a number of things, including his desire to win the X-Division championship and more.
During the talk he also revealed that he was offered a contract with Impact and Laredo Kid confirmed that he has signed a deal with the company:
“When I see all the crazy moves they do, I try to do the same, you know? And training more [to] be there one day
And when I had the opportunity to be — to sign with IMPACT, it’s great, you know? Right now, it’s a dream to have this opportunity” said Laredo Kid, “then I’m going to find the X Division belt.”
Laredo Kid made his Impact Wrestling debut in March 2017 as part of the company’s partnership with Lucha Libre AAA Worldwide. He is also the current AAA World Cruiserweight Champion.
The Luchador had a tryout with WWE in 2015 as well. He worked a tag team match with Sammy Guevara under the ring name Tony Guevara. The duo lost a SmackDown dark match to Los Matadores.
After a disappointing WWE championship run, Big E has been thrust back into the tag team division. It appears that the WWE locker room is not happy with this treatment for the New Day star.
Wade Keller of PWTorch recently discussed the former world champion. He provided some backstage updates about the reaction to his recent bookings.
Keller revealed that everyone he has asked is very upset about the rug being pulled out from under him. Nobody has heard about any issue with Big E that might have led to this treatment from the officials:
“I’ve asked around, and all I’ve gotten is people who are really upset, you know, with the rug being pulled out from under him, and I haven’t heard anything about there being an awareness of an issue with him and I think the people I have asked would know.”
Big E won the WWE championship from Bobby Lashley during the September 13, 2021 episode of Raw. After a lackluster run, he dropped the title to Brock Lesnar during Day 1 PPV earlier this year.
The former champion himself has admitted that he was disappointed with the reign. He said that he wanted it to be five-course meal and it turned out to be an appetizer.
How do you feel about Big E being back into the tag team division? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
Paul Heyman has worked closely with some of the most successful wrestling stars of the past few decades. He knows what it takes to be a star in the business.
When asked which new talent he thinks will be a future star, Heyman took the name of Riddick Moss. He praised the SmackDown star as a future main eventer:
“Riddick Moss is going to be a star. I don’t think anyone has a clue with just how capable he is. He’s demonstrated that he can walk into any personality that he is assigned at the moment.
When Riddick Moss has the emergence out of his shell and into his next incarnation, the same way The Big Dog elevated his game and evolved into the Tribal Chief,” said Paul Heyman, “Riddick Moss’ next iteration in WWE, there will be no stopping him. He’s a main eventer.”
After a 5 years long developmental run, Riddick Moss made his main roster debut in January 2020. He has since joined forces with Happy Corbin as Madcap Moss.
Apart from this, Paul Heyman also talked about the Universal champion Roman Reigns. He claimed that we have yet to see the best of The Tribal Chief.
The WWE grind can often be the cause of stress and anxiety for stars. Jeff Hardy, who was recently released from the promotion, is feeling ‘super stressless’ since leaving the company according to Matt Hardy.
The AEW star talked about his brother on The Extreme Life With Matt Hardy podcast. He claimed that the wrestling veteran has been super positive since leaving WWE:
“One thing I can say for Jeff is that he has been super positive and super stressless since he’s been gone from the WWE. We have about 10 bookings as the Hardy Boyz lined up all together. Some autograph signings, some matches.”
Matt Hardy also recently teased an ‘extreme’ change to his AEW character. It would be interesting to see if The Hardy Boyz end up reuniting in Tony Khan’s promotion.
Many believe the release of Hit Row was one of the biggest missed opportunities for WWE in recent times. B-Fab want to see the group reunite outside the company.
The former NXT star recently took part in a virtual signing for East Coast Autograph Auctions. She discussed things such as a potential WWE return and more.
During the session, she claimed that a Hit Row reunion is her biggest dream. B-Fab said that she would be super excited if they all can come together again:
“That is my biggest dream is that we [Hit Row] come back together and show up somewhere. I don’t know where, but if we can all come together and you know, debut again somewhere else or with a company, I would be super excited.”
One such place where we might see this reunion is AEW. B-Fab also discussed this possibility and a potential feud with The Acclaimed:
“Mhm, that’d be a hot feud. That would be a hot feud [Hit Row vs. The Acclaimed]. We had so many ideas and everything for Hit Row. I just really wish we would have been able to show everybody everything that we could’ve done. But it is what it is.”
B-Fab has already become a free agent due to her NXT contract. The other three members of Hit Row including Shane ‘Swerve’ Strickland, ‘Top Dolla’ A.J. Francis, and Tehuti Miles are expected to join her in free agency in a few weeks.
Would you like to see Hit Row reunite in AEW? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below
If MJF is known for one thing, it’s never breaking his character while on camera. Whether it be on TV, doing an interview, or wishing someone on their wedding.
Disney head writer Colonel Rob Fee recently got married. The All Elite Wrestling star was among the people who took the time to congratulate the couple.
Rob posted the video message he received from the wrestling star on Twitter as seen below. MJF wished Rob good luck on their ‘future endeavors’ and he didn’t forget to mention how he recently beat CM Punk:
The 25-year-old has recently been feuding with the Straight Edge Star. These two had a match during the February 2 episode of Dynamite.
MJF won this match after Wardlow handed the Dynamite Diamond Ring to The Pinnacle Leader. The heavyweight star also provided a distraction, allowing MJF to use the weapon.
This was CM Punk’s first loss in AEW since his debut for the company in August last year. Though it doesn’t appear to be the end of this feud.
AEW’s next PPV event in Revolution will be taking place from the Addition Financial Arena in Orlando, Florida on March 6. It’s likely that we are going to see a rematch between the two at the show.
Matt Riddle’s NXT achievements include winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic and the tag team titles with Pete Dunne. However, according to the King of Bros, their team was originally supposed to last only one day.
The Raw star recently had an interview with My Love Letter To Wrestling podcast. He discussed things such as his tag team with Randy Orton and more.
During the talk, Riddle admitted that they weren’t actually supposed to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. It was originally planned to be a one-off thing:
“Yeah, we weren’t supposed to, I didn’t even know I was teaming with Pete until they do, ‘hey, Matt, can you cut a promo saying you how you and Pete met and became a team?’ And I was like, ‘we’re a team?’ And they’re like, ‘yeah.”
As is often the case in WWE, plans changed night after night, and it actually led to the first big NXT accolade for Matt Riddle:
“They’re like, ‘yeah, you’re actually going to win this round and lose the next round,’ and we’re like, ‘okay’. Then the next round, they’re like, ‘yeah, you’re actually going to win this round too and go into the finals.’ And we’re like, ‘alright,’”
Matt Riddle and Pete Dunne defeated Grizzled Young Veterans to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on January 29, 2020. The BroserWeights then went on to defeat The Undisputed Era at NXT TakeOver: Portland to win the NXT tag titles.
The Triple H era of NXT has come to an end. However, the work he did with various talents during his time cannot be forgotten. One such talent who got the chance to work with the game is Killer Kross.
The now-former WWE star recently had an interview with CBS sport. Among other things, he detailed what it was like working with the former world champion and what kind of leader he is.
Kross claimed that Triple H is a natural leader. According to him, he is not someone who has to raise his voice or get angry to get people to listen to him:
“He was a person where I would come into work and he would be completely focused with each and every person he was working with. I never saw him play favorites. He never told you wanted to hear, he always told you what you needed to hear.”
Killer Kross then explained that both Triple H and Shawn Michaels are individuals who inspire people to be a better version of themselves at work. So much so that people wanted to perform better out of respect for them:
“I could tell you for sure as much as people wanted to perform in this business for the fans, they also wanted to perform out of respect for Hunter and Shawn [Michaels] because of how much time they would put into them and helping them improve
Kross later mentioned how people usually say that you should never meet your heroes. Though Triple H was someone who didn’t disappoint him. He actually exceeded expectations for the person you think he would be by seeing him on TV.
The WWE release of Jeff Hardy has been a hot topic of discussion for fans recently. There has been a lot of speculation on where Hardy will go next. Now his brother Matt Hardy is teasing a change to his character in All Elite Wrestling, saying that maybe it’s time for him to return to his extreme roots.
This Friday’s episode of Rampage saw Isiah Kassidy unsuccessfully challenge Sammy Guevara for the TNT title. The Private Party had also lost a match against The Jurassic Express for the tag team titles last month.
Matt posted a video on twitter after Rampage. He first expressed his disappointment over these recent losses of the members of his faction. He then said that maybe it’s time to put the focus back on himself. Hardy claimed that maybe it’s time adapt his old motto back and he teased an ‘extreme’ change to his character at the end of the video:
‘Maybe It’s Time For Matt Hardy To Make An Extreme Change’
Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy ‘The Hardy Boyz’
“Maybe it’s time for me to go back to the drawing board. Maybe it’s time for me to get rich of what I originally got rich off of and that was me. Maybe it’s time for me to tighten up my boots. Lace them a little tighter. Lace them a little more snug. Maybe It is time to adapt my old motto of fear is only a four-letter word. So starting today, February the 5th, 2022, I’m gonna make a promise to everyone.
I’m saying it here publicly so I’ll be held accountable for it. I’m gonna bust my ass. I’m gonna do everything that I possibly can to take my dilapidated vessel, after all the wear and tear on my body, after my age and get into the best shape that it can possibly be in. Because I don’t like the direction that Matt Hardy is currently headed in AEW. If something doesn’t happen with the AHFO, something has to change. Maybe it’s time for Matt Hardy to make an extreme change.”
Jeff Hardy’s WWE non-compete clause expires in early March. The Hardy Boyz have already been announced for a few appearances including a couple of matches after that. There is no news on how Tony Khan feels about Jeff joining AEW after the infamous live event incident. It’ll be interesting to see if The Hardy Boyz end up reuniting in AEW as well.
Kurt Angle had revealed last month that WWE wanted him to make a brief return to TV but that program has apparently been nixed. The Olympic Gold Medallist recently talked about the Royal Rumble PPV on the latest episode of his podcast. The former world champion revealed that he was in the arena for the show.
Angle mentioned that he went to the show with his wife and they had a great time. However, the program he was supposed to be involved in got canceled at last minute:
“We went to the Rumble and I also did some documentary interviews a day before [and] a photo op with the fans. But I want to make it clear, I’m not signed with the WWE. They weren’t gonna sign me anyway. It was gonna be a three-week program. It got cancelled,” said Kurt Angle, “but you know my obligation is to the show — the Kurt Angle show and that’s it.”
The former Raw GM didn’t reveal any detail on what the promotion wanted him for, or if the cancellation of it had anything to do with the debacle involving Shane McMahon. Kurt Angle was last seen on WWE TV on the May 23, 2020 episode of SmackDown, where he announced the arrival of Matt Riddle. WWE offered him the role of Riddle’s manager but he turned it down.
Roman Reigns was already one of wrestling’s top stars before his heel turn in 2020. He had already held the world title multiple times and picked up victories over opponents such as The Undertaker, Brock Lesnar, and John Cena. However, his new Tribal Chief persona earned him universal acclaim from critics and fans like he had never seen before. Still, Paul Heyman believes that we have not seen the best of the Universal champion yet.
The former ECW owner recently appeared on Corey Graves’ After The Bell podcast. Heyman who has been around the wrestling business for over three decades discussed how one has to keep evolving to stay relevant in the industry. He then explained that we haven’t seen the best of Reigns because he keeps evolving:
“I’ll say this selfishly. Again talking about evolving personas, evolving characters, evolving personalities evolving box office attractions, you haven’t seen the best of Roman Reigns yet. Roman Reigns a year from now will be far greater than Roman Reigns is today. Roman Reigns this Friday will be better than Roman Reigns last Friday.
Roman Reigns, next Friday will be able to look back at this Friday’s appearance and say ‘Wow, I can do that so much better’ and he will. I’ll include the Usos in there as well. The Usos as a tag team are so infinitely better now than they were six months ago and six months ago they were already the best tag team in the past 20 years.”
“The Big Dog Was An Audition To Become The Tribal Chief”
(via WWE)
Paul Heyman listed all the accolades of The Big Dog before 2020. He mentioned how the former Shield member was a top star from the get-go and he had main evented multiple WrestleManias even before turning heel and joining forces with the advocate. Though according to Heyman, everything he had done before that was just an audition for his current role:
“Roman Reigns was a main eventer from the day he started in 2012 on the main roster. Through 2020 Roman Reigns main evented 4 WrestleManias and that was just the audition to become The Tribal Chief. It was the appetizer for the main course. He had to have that resume, that background, that experience. To come from top attraction, competing with John Cena for the top spot, multi-WrestleMania matches with Brock Lesnar, a victory over The Undertaker, only two people can claim that – Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns. That was the lead-up to The Tribal Chief.
The Tribal Chief is far bigger box office, a far more compelling personality, a far more riveting persona than the Big Dog. No offense to the Big Dog but the public wasn’t ready to accept the greatness. And Roman Reigns didn’t know how to put it all together and create this package of greatness. This ability to reach greatness and break through the limitations on his greatness. To make a viable claim to be ‘I am the greatest of all time, I am the goat.’ And now he is. As the Tribal Chief. Who is still evolving, who is still emerging.”

The internet allows wrestling stars to showcase their talents to the whole world and reach a much wider audience. However, it can also be a toxic place for wrestlers who aren’t used to the relentless criticism and trolling.
CM Punk is one of the most polarizing figures of the whole industry who often finds himself being targeted by the trolls for one reason or the other. He has good advice for anyone who is not used to it.
The AEW star recently had an interview with Abe Kanan of Rock 95.5 in Chicago. Speaking of the internet trolls, Punk shared his advice for other wrestlers. He said that you can’t win from them and you should focus on finding inner peace instead:
“You can’t win. I implore all humans to understand that you cannot win [from internet trolls]. You cannot be beholden to what nameless, faceless people on the internet say about you. It doesn’t matter.” said CM Punk, “You have to find inner peace and be happy with what you’re doing. I 100% am that guy. I’m stoked to be where I am. I got a lot of cool projects coming up aside from AEW.
He continued, “And I get to go home to a very beautiful, smart, talented woman and my dog Larry every night. So it can’t be beat. Like Johnny 256969 on Twitter, trust me you could say whatever you want about me dude. I sucked in UFC? That’s cool, I get that video game money. So I am ok.”

Former SmackDown women’s champion Bianca Belair is promoting products from Rihanna’s Fenty Beauty cosmetic brand.
The EST of WWE shared a sponsored post from her official Instagram account. She promoted the new lipstick line-up of the fashion brand:
“The #ESTofWWE is channeling her #ICONENERGY with @FentyBeauty’s new lipstick collection #FENTYICON! I’m loving shades #SCHOLASISTA, #FENTYTHEMVP, and #BOARDMEMBR for their long-lasting coverage in the ring! Which one should I try next?!”

Bianca Belair is not the only pro wrestling personality affiliated with Fenty.
AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill has also been promoting the brand on social media. Cargill has promoted the SAVAGE x FENTY lingerie line.

Bianca Belair & Fenty Beauty
Fenty Beauty was launched by Rihanna in September 2017. The brand is popular for its broad inclusivity across skin tones and gender.
It’s Pro Filt’R foundation originally offered 40 shades which has since been expanded to 50. Fenty Beauty was named one of time magazine’s best inventions on its launch year.
Bianca Belair was drafted to the Raw brand during the 2021 draft. She has been chasing the Raw women’s championship since then but has been unsuccessful in her quest so far.
Belair faced one-half of the women’s tag team champion Carmella on this Monday’s Raw. She hit Carmella with a KOD for the win.
The former champion is rumored to face Becky Lynch for the Raw women’s championship at WrestleMania 38. Though this match hasn’t been made official yet.
Many believe Montez Ford will achieve great success as a singles star once the Street Profits split up. The Raw star himself also admits that it’s been his dream.
The former NXT star recently had an interview with WWE Hall Of Famer Booker T. He first claimed that he doesn’t buy too much into the hype and he is currently focused on being a tag team star.
Though later Montez admitted that having a singles run and potentially winning the world title has always been a dream for him:
“It’s always a dream to be a World Champion, and I don’t think that ever goes away. I feel like all the guys and everyone that’s here,
if you’re not trying to be the guy then — obviously you want to make money,” said Montez Ford, “that’s the main thing, but you always want to [be] the man, too.”
Ford’s partner Angelo Dawkins has also discussed this subject previously. He admitted that his tag team partner has the potential to hold the world title in WWE.
Though he also explained that he would like a New Day style split for the Street Profits where they can go their separate ways but still support each other when it’s needed.
A lot of wrestlers work their whole life to get to WWE. However, Lince Dorado is one star who had that dream realised, but made the decision to leave it all behind. He was released from his contract in November last year.
The former WWE star recently had an interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated. He revealed that he had two years left on his contract when he asked for his release from the promotion.
Explaining the decision to leave the promotion, Dorado claimed that the WWE officials didn’t under the creative thought of being a luchador:
“They understood I was a luchador, but they didn’t understand the story or the motive or the creative thought that went into being a luchador. All they saw was, ‘This is just a guy in a mask that does incredible things.’”
Lince Dorado Didn’t Want To Be A Spanish WWE Star
[From left] Grand Metalik, Kalisto and Lince Dorado
Lince Dorado continued by saying that he didn’t want to be a Spanish WWE star. Instead he just wanted to be represented as a star with Spanish background:
“I didn’t want to be WWE’s Spanish star. I wanted to be represented as a WWE star who happened to have Latino culture and background. But they saw me only as a high-flyer.”
Dorado later claimed that he had great rapport with the likes of Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis but the problem was the disconnect between what they thought was lucha libre and what we know it is.
Drew McIntyre made his surprise return at the Royal Rumble PPV last week. He was one of the final two contestants of the bout.
This return surprised many as previous reports had indicated the Scottish Warrior will have to stay out of action at least until WrestleMania to recover from his neck issues.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter provided some updates on the situation recently. He revealed that the plan is for McIntyre to be protected until he has recovered from his issues:
“The plan, at least as of this week, was for him not to do house shows and continue his rehab, but appear on television. While he is likely to do some television matches, the idea is to protect him to where he’s not doing too much until he rehabs more.”
The belief is that Drew McIntyre’s feud with Happy Corbin and Madcap Moss will continue as the SmackDown star focuses on his rehab.
Meltzer also discussed his rumored match with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He noted that the original plan was for McIntyre to feud with Reigns leading into WrestleMania 38.
The former WWE champion is still expected to have a program with The Tribal Chief at some point. Though currently there is no set plan for the same.
There is only a three-week gap between the Royal Rumble and the Elimination Chamber PPV and WWE is filling up the card for the upcoming show fast.
The company announced a new championship match for the event today on Twitter. They confirmed that the Usos will be defending their SmackDown tag team titles against the Viking Raiders:
The Viking Raiders had earned this championship opportunity by winning a gauntlet match during the January 14 episode of SmackDown last month.
WWE Elimination Chamber Updated Match Card
This is the third match that has been made official for the upcoming show after the Elimination Chamber and the return of Lita. Here is the updated card for the show:
Elimination Chamber Match For WWE Championship: Bobby Lashley vs. Seth Rollins vs. AJ Styles vs. Austin Theory vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Riddle
Raw Women’s Championship Match: Becky Lynch vs. Lita
SmackDown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos vs The Viking Raiders
One of the big reasons for the lackluster Royal Rumble this year was the exclusion of talents such as Finn Balor and Cesaro.
The Swiss Superman recently had an interview with Sports Illustrated. Among other things, he also discussed not being part of the PPV this year.
Cesaro admitted that he was disappointed on not being part of the Rumble this year. He noted how many people wanted him to win the bout:
“Yes, I was. A lot of people would have liked to see me in the Rumble, and a lot of people would have liked to see me win. That would have put me on the next path of my journey.
I saw Big E say in an interview he’d like to see me win, and that was very nice. I appreciate the support of my colleagues, but unfortunately, that did not happen.”
The Swiss superstar also discussed his WrestleMania 37 match against Seth Rollins. He picked up a victory over the visionary in this bout.
Cesaro said that it was the crowning achievement of his career for him because it was his first singles match at the grandest stage of them all and because they could do it in front of the fans.
Former WWE star Toni Storm has been announced for her first post-WWE appearance at the WrestleCon convention in Dallas, Texas during the WrestleMania 38 weekend.
The former NXT UK women’s champion will be joined by a number of fellow WWE alumni, including names such as Windham Rotunda aka Bray Wyatt, Kurt Angle, Paul Wight, Killer Kross and more.
The WrestleCon convention this year will take place from March 31 to April 2. Aside from wrestling shows featuring talents from various companies, it will also host live podcasts, Q&A sessions, and more.
After a 4 year long run with WWE, Toni Storm asked for her release from the promotion on December 29 last year. Her request was immediately granted.
In an interview days prior to her release, the former champion had opened up about the lack of opportunity after her main roster debut on SmackDown in July.
While there aren’t a lot of details surrounding the circumstances leading to her release, reports suggest that burnout was essentially the reason why the female star decided to quit the company.
