Jay Lethal Discusses His Goal For Second ROH World Title Reign

Jay Lethal is on top of the mountain in Ring of Honor once again.

Ring of Honor held TV taping last weekend in Fairfax, Virginia at the EagleBank Arena. At the show, Lethal beat Matt Taven, Cody and champion Dalton Castle in a fatal 4-way match to win the ROH World Title.

This is Lethal’s second time winning the title. Castle won it back in December at Final Battle. It was a surprise to most fans as the promotion held its Best in the World PPV just 24 hours before this taping.

Lethal spoke with the official Ring of Honor website about his big win and how he wants it to be longer than his first reign as champion. The newly crowned ROH Champion stated that this title win means that he’s at the top of his game once again as being champion comes with operating at a higher level, a level that most people never reach.

“There’s only a select few people that have been at that level twice. I plan on making this title reign way longer than my first title reign.”

Lethal also talked about winning the title for the second time and how it differs from the first time in 2015. He brought up the fact that when he won the title the first time there was a lot of bragging because he could back it up.

“Maybe had a few people in my ear, helping me think that way, being a little bit braggadocious. As to now, it’s not overconfidence, I’m more comfortable and confident in my abilities – not over confident – but confident. That would probably be the biggest comparison between now and then. Just a little more trash talking before – while still backing it up – this time maybe all actions will be in the ring and a little less trash talking.”

Baron Corbin Exchanges Words With Finn Balor On Social Media

Finn Balor and Baron Corbin are continuing their feud on Twitter as they have exchanged words on the platform.

It all started once Corbin called Balor a coward, cheat, and problem, which led to Balor stating that Corbin sounds like a famous Meredith Brooks song called “b—h.”

Although they have worked with each other in NXT, they have yet to have a program on the main roster, which appears to be the direction that the WWE is going and could set up a match at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view. You can see their exchange here:

The Extreme Rules pay-per-view event takes place on Sunday, July 15, 2018 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the PPG Paints Arena and will air on the WWE Network. If WWE does add this match to the Extreme Rules lineup then they will likely announce it on next week’s episode of RAW in Boston, MA at the TD Garden.

Sasha Banks Believes Her Best In WWE Is Yet To Come

Sasha Banks believes that the best is yet to come for her in the WWE.

The former WWE RAW Women’s Champion recently spoke with Sports Illustrated about various topics including her favorite match and her mindset as a Superstar. She noted that her favorite match came against Bayley at the WWE NXT Takeover: Brooklyn event back in 2015.

Banks pointed out that there are a lot of other great moments including the Triple Threat Match that she was involved in at WrestleMania 32 that featured Snoop Dogg performing her entrance theme song. She added that words cannot describe going over to Abu Dhabi and being the first women’s title match there for WWE.

“But being 26, I also feel like the best is yet to come. I feel like I have so much more to accomplish and so much more to prove. After we finish all these ‘first-time ever’ moments, it’s going to be like, ‘OK, can we out-do that?’ I just want to keep on being the best and continue making history, and leave my legacy in the WWE.”

In this interview, Banks also gave some praise to her fans for their support no matter where she’s positioned on the card because there is a connection between the company and the fans.

“There are so many people you can look up to and say, ‘Hey, I want to be like her.’ We have this great connection with the WWE Universe, and it’s amazing that I can do this every week. It’s a lot of fun, especially with the best fans in the whole world.”

Baron Corbin Discusses Decision To Cut His Long Hair

Baron Corbin has given some insight into his decision to cut his long hair.

The WWE star was a guest on KELOLAND living to promote this week’s RAW episode in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The WWE has decided to move him away from his mid-card role to now being Stephanie McMahon’s “Constable” on the red brand to help RAW General Manager Kurt Angle.

Just a few weeks ago, Corbin made the decision to shave his head to look the part for the position after years with long hair. In this interview, he opened up on why the decision was made to remove all of his hair.

Corbin stated that it as just a part of stepping into this role that Stephanie gave him and to look professional. He noted that he if he is going to be telling people what to do then he wants to look the part.

“It was great to get rid of the long hair.” Corbin said. “It’s such a pain, that if you look at it, it’s always wet when guys wrestle, you dump gallons of conditioner in it to keep it wet so you’re not choking on it. You have all kinds of stuff in it, and just maintaining it is a lot of work. I don’t envy people with long hair. So, I’m glad mine is gone.” Corbin added that he is “100 percent” happy with the new look.

Kevin Owens has made it clear that he prefers to be featured on the RAW brand.

The former WWE Universal Champion recently conducted an interview with the Argus Leader where he talked about various topics including why he prefers being part of the RAW brand instead of SmackDown Live.

If you recall, the sports entertainment company decided to move Owens as well as Sami Zayn to the flagship show of the WWE from SmackDown Live after their match with Daniel Bryan and Shane McMahon at WrestleMania 34 back in April.

Owens would explain that he feels that he looks like he is at home on RAW and that the brand is the place for him. Here is what he had to say:

“I absolutely have a preference; I would much rather be on RAW. I’m a lot happier on RAW. I actually can’t overthink how much better I think I am on RAW than I was on Smackdown. And I don’t really know the reason why that is. I feel like I look more at home here, and I feel like I look like I belong here. It’s pretty obvious that RAW’s the place for me.”

Shinsuke Nakamura Talks Desire To Wrestle Daniel Bryan, Being Comfortable As Heel

Shinsuke Nakamura is in the middle of his first heel turn under the WWE banner.

The former WWE Title contender recently spoke with Asbury Park Press to promote his appearance at iPlay America in Freehold on July 7. In this interview, he was asked about his transition from babyface to heel, which started during his program with WWE Champion AJ Styles in May.

Nakamura noted that he is feeling better than before due to the fact that his character came from the heel stuff as he played a heel while he was in Japan. He pointed out that all of his created moves were when he was a heel and that when he uses the stomp to the face and then the vibration, it’s him teasing his opponent.

“So now also a lot of people (are) asking me, ‘So how do you act in the ring like crazy?’ but I think I don’t act, I just adjust. A human being has a lot of sides, like a kind of diversity, so it’s like a good side, a bad side, a crazy side, a normal side, like a man-ish side, a woman-ish side. I just pick, I adjust.”

You can add Nakamura’s name to the long list of WWE stars who want to wrestle former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan following the news a few months ago that he had been cleared to compete in a WWE ring once again.

Nakamura mentioned that wanting to wrestle Bryan was one of the reasons he decided to sign with the sports entertainment company.

“But now, I’ve got like a high possibility to wrestle with Daniel at like the biggest stage in wrestling history. So I’m so excited.”

Steve Austin Talks His Favorite Rising WWE Stars, Vince McMahon

Steve Austin has opened up on some of his favorite rising Superstars as well as dealing with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon.

The WWE Hall of Famer recently appeared on Chasing Glory with Lilian Garcia to talk about various topics. When asked about some of his favorite Superstars that are currently in the WWE, Austin noted that he always preaches that you need to learn how to work, but its intensity, it’s a mean streak as a heel or babyface, and its fire. He pointed out that he likes Ronda Rousey, Bayley, and Sasha Banks.

Ronda Rousey has that fire to no end, she has that intensity to no end. Bailey, this absolute sweetheart, I love Bayley. All of a sudden she shows this damn fire and this mean streak. Her and Sasha have such great chemistry and I love Sasha as a heel more. I love both those women.”

Throughout the years, Austin has always shown respect to Vince McMahon even though they may not see eye to eye on everything including creative. Austin discussed this in this interview and brought up the fact that since he was young, he was never afraid to ask a question.

He mentioned that he and Vince got to be very very good friends but that Vince is a very intimidating person when you first walk in there to talk.

“Like I told him, my response to him was, “Vince, you got guys here 6’10, 7 feet tall, 300 to 330 pounds,” I said, “I’m 6’2, 250, black trunks, black boots. If you take my personality, from me, I can’t compete. If you give me my personality, I can compete with anyone you got.” And he says, “Okay Steve.” And then he stopped editing me and that’s when we starting flying.”

Austin added that wrestlers have to control their destiny and that you can’t have the mindset to sit back and say that creative has nothing for you.

Austin also talked about the story of how he came up with Austin 3:16, staying humble, why he didn’t want the ECW Championship in the beginning and more. You can listen to the entire podcast here.

Ric Flair To Undergo Surgery Next Week

WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair is slated to undergo surgery next week.

According to a recent report by Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet, Flair will not be undergoing surgery to remove a colonoscopy bag despite that rumor going around but instead, he will undergo an ileostomy procedure.

His fiancé, Wendy Barlow, told Satin that the procedure has to be done after his health scare last summer. The wrestling legend is scheduled for surgery on July 9th with pre-op on July 6th.

According to the American Cancer Association, an ileostomy is defined as an opening in the belly (abdominal wall) that is made during surgery and that the lowest part of the small intestine is brought through this opening to form a stoma.

Thus, a colonoscopy bag applies to the large intestine and not the small intestine. The WWE Hall of Famer hopes to reverse the stoma so he’ll no longer be forced to drain the pouch.

We wish Flair a successful surgery and speedy recovery.

He returned to in-ring action earlier this year as took on John Cena at WrestleMania 34 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana. Then the future WWE Hall of Famer beat Rusev in a Casket Match at the Greatest Royal Rumble event back in April in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia at the King Abdullah International Stadium.

Ronda Rousey Says She Will Be At WWE Extreme Rules (Video)

Ronda Rousey has vowed to be at WWE Extreme Rules.

It’s well known by now Rousey attacked Alexa Bliss on a recent episode of RAW and was later “suspended” for 30 days as a result of her actions. This comes off the fact that Rousey beat Nia Jax by DQ in a WWE RAW Women’s Championship match at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view event once Bliss attacked Rousey.

After the match, Bliss cashed in her MITB contract to win the title from Jax. WWE has already announced that Bliss will make her next title defense against Jax at the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV event.

WWE’s YouTube channel has uploaded this short interview with Rousey where she spoke about her suspension and when she will return to WWE television.

Regarding her suspension, she noted that she respects Kurt Angle’s decision to suspend her because he has to uphold the rules but she doesn’t regret her actions and would do it again if she had the chance.

On the Bliss vs Jax match, Rousey noted that she is so excited to see that match that she will be buying a ticket in the front row to watch it.
